Cops investigating pig's foot sent to Rep. Peter King's office

From NBC's Luke Russert
A Capitol Hill source tells NBC that the Washington D.C. office of Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) was sent a bloody pig's foot with a note attached that contained anti-Semitic ramblings.

The note referenced King's controversial hearing last month about Muslim extremism within the United States.

The Capitol Hill police are treating this incident as an "open investigation."

The pig's foot was found when the package it was contained in was radiated and scanned for explosives. The package never actually reached King's office and was intercepted beforehand.

Ol Yellow Dog

Are we sure that the antisemitic ramblings that were delivered with the foot were not a transcript from Rep. Peter King's Muslim hearings?

Now that' a good question. King has been on a roll here latly. He has been so blind with fury he may he have thought so.

It'll be interesting to hear him in his "New Yak" accent how he'll kick off his next anti-Muslim rant.

My bet is that one of his own people sent it to him for the extra mileage in rhetoric he would get, sort of what like Indiana's Justice Dept rep e-mailed Pinkerton Walker to do....seems like their modus operandi: create their own spectacle.

My Mother of German heritage wouldn't have wasted that pig's foot...she'd make pig's feet boiled with onion, salt and pepper and we'd eat it cold, in a gel with vinegar or lemon! I can taste it now! The Greatest Generation never wasted a scrap.

Let's not automatically assume that a Muslim did this. Could be white supremicists...KKK...just saying that I don't think the Muslims have a monopoly on the "anti-semitic rambling" market.

Let's also remember that touching the skin of a dead pig in Islam, as with Judaism, is a sin. If this were really a statement on religion I doubt that a Muslim would go the route of committing a sin himself/herself.

And who has made those statements except a minority of the Musims? Not the KKK. Not the Catholics in Ireland. What sense does that make.

Do liberals send bloody pig feet to Dems they support?

Who was so outraged by King and doesn't have a problem wallowing with pigs for political purposes?

Who went on and on, day after day denigrating King? Who is so extreme with their nonacceptance of the right, vehemently defending Muslims on everything. What party is associated with environmental extremists, from spiking trees to maim loggers to combat with whalers to burning Hummers?

I'm just saying ........ but I seriously doubt it was Muslims, Catholics, KKK, or anyone on the right? Probably wasn't the independents that try to see both sides.

Who could it be? Has to be someone passionate about politics. Could be someone in a party who mocks conservatives with such as gems as Koch suckers, Snot Walker, tea baggers - can't refer to Boehner except as the Weeper of the House.....on and on.......

What party could that person belong to?

I don't follow your logic. If someone believes in the teachings of the New Testament, they are by default, a Christian.

Just like someone who believes in the teachings of the Quran, is by default, Islamic.

Being able to cite chapter and verse of either book isn't the same as "BELIEVING" what is in them.

Maybe not beheadings, per se, but perhaps you should think about Northern Ireland, where Christian killings in the name of religion are still going on today -- this past week, as a matter of fact.

          Imagine it.

Caucasians killing police officers with bombs.

          http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/apr/02/omagh-booby-trap-bomb-policeman-killed

Suspicion will fall on one of the three republican dissident terrorist groups that have resumed their violent campaigns in the north of Ireland over recent weeks. Ireland's recently elected prime minister, Enda Kenny, also condemned those behind the murder last night describing it as a "pointless act of terrorism".

Glad you brought this up, Anna Molly.

Human beings just love racism and culturalism...always have and always will, unless the species somehow evolves out of it before we destroy one another entirely. I'm not holding my breath.

Whether it's Catholics or Protestants (white people) in Ireland; or Hutus and Tutsis (black people) in Rwanda, or any other combinations of race, religion, and ethnicity imaginable...humans are what they are.

That's why the liberal/progressive notion of the societal beauty of "diversity" is so ridiculous.

Actually, I prefer to tout the notion of the social beauty of shared values. Diversity in its purest form, and acceptance and tolerance of differences, can be a shared value on which to build a well-integrated society.

Diversity defined as polarization, such as I'm seeing on this thread, not so much.

The prospect of shared values is what unites any society...

But, there are many opposing interests involved in a diverse society.

But I must admit you lost me with the real or perceived anger.

Hello?! Spare me the phony "who, moi?" You're the one who said I would make a good Muslim, and although that doesn't bother me on the merits, I KNOW it wasn't meant as a compliment.

As for what you do with your time and your money, feel free. But then don't judge others' for their attitudes towards women.

And that was never the point, was it? It was merely deflection.

But you ARE a study, Spanky. Indeed, you are.

Wait - so you wouldn't make a good Muslim? Ok, suit yourself.

But hey, thanks for allowing me my indulgences, but yeah, I gonna have to judge and condemn Muslim and Arabs in general for their attitudes toward women. Honestly I can't believe you don't as well.

Funny think is, in my experience the Iranians [Persians] treat their women much better than the Iraqi's [arabs]. But man do they hate the crap out of each other!

A study? ok, but you I suppose are not? Come on, don't be mad, you are my favorite libby around these parts.

Sorry. I didn't say more because you're right. I've always said that same thing. Ironically, too much emphasis on diversity can be antithetical to the melting pot concept. For that reason, for example, I favor English as the official language -- or at least SOME official language, and it's probably too late for me to learn Spanish. ;-)

With all due respect, that wasn't the issue, and it was only meant to divert attention away from the real issue, which is that Muslims are not the only terrorists.

Sounds like fun, but I'll have to pass. I don't deny that I like a good fantasy, but "Mommy" would face too much competition from young, nubile college students. For better or worse, "Mommy" is a one-man woman.

              Anna Molly

That's why the liberal/progressive notion of the societal beauty of "diversity" is so ridiculous.

"Actually, I prefer to tout the notion of the social beauty of shared values. Diversity in its purest form, and acceptance and tolerance of differences, can be a shared value on which to build a well-integrated society."

Unfortunately, most others around the world don't care what you prefer. When it comes to Islam, you have no say in anything. Try to diversity yourself in a Muslim community and see how well that works out for you. Be sure to tell them you are an atheist and believe all religion is bogus. That will get you some instant friends.

I guess he is not of aware of the brown on black racism. In fact, this I swear back in the civil rights day we picked up the tab for the browns and told them come on march with us. Brown people were treated worse than Blacks he has an inferiority complex and stuck on racism.

So I can write an anti-black person note, and as long as I mail that note to someone that isn't black...it isn't racist?!?!

I merely asked the question...but if you're looking for an answer...is it racist? Yes.

                Is it a "racist attack"?

                  snk...

Why so negative? I have no reason to "twist this into my belief system". Just the Facts...Anti-semitic rhetoric with a bloody pigs foot is sent to Rep. King...and according to what you have stated, Rep. King is Roman Catholic. OK...obviously as the report states, someone sent an anti-semitic rantings/package addressed to him, likely it may have to do with his recent Senate hearings on Muslim radicalization in America... may be possible the sender thought Rep. King is Jewish...or may be the sender believes King has some connection with Israel or Jewish community....without knowing all the facts and what the "anti-semitic rhetoric" said, we don't know exactly WHY an anti-semetic package was sent to an (apparently) Roman Catholic Senator who held hearings on Muslim extremism...How's that?

I'm a little late to the party but how are Jews a race now? This racism thing is completely out of hand. We have 3 races on this planet and mixes of those races. To the best of my knowledge, Jews are not a race. Latinos are not a race and Muslims are not a race. Save that word for people who are persecuted that ARE a race.

It inflames on a non-existent basis and is a flat out insult to people who have been persecuted because of their race of which they have no control unlike, oh, I don't know, religion, for example-

Peter King is a Pig, and doesn't have a leg to stand on, duh! Obviously, the sender want to get him back on his feet. I don't understand what this has to do with being Muslim ;-)

You need to work in the Anti-Semitic rantings in the note...until then your "theory" is incomplete.

Pig's feet? A quick check of Pete King's office, home (or collection of beer hall putsch souvenirs) will no doubt clear him of any involvement.

Even then think how much it would cost to mail something that big and heavy.

and then...you juse have an elephant's foot...which carries no double meaning of being unholy and unclean to jews and muslims like a pig part.

The looney tune is a danger. Like the whacko in Tucson. Its sad, who ever it is. And dangerous. It needs to be investigated and the person somehow prevented from going on some looney tune whacko rampage and killing a child or children.

King never tried to pass laws against Muslims.

He simply held a hearing on the growing problem of homegrown Islamic extremism.

No laws, no bills, just a hearing to talk about the problem and look for possible solutions. I honestly don't see what all the controversy is about.

Just more symbolic theater by the right to keep it's base in fear.

                            # of Americans killed on US soil by Muslims/ Islamics since Jan 8, 2011= 0

                            # of Americans killed on US soil by Americans using just handguns since Jan 8,2011= at least 2405 and counting.

An American citizen has stood a better chance of being killed in a car accident than being injured by an Islamic terrorist since the attack on 9-11.

Best chance for the Republicans to regain power is to keep the fear alive.

Waste of tax payer money too.

Sometimes I think a nuke dropped in DC is the only real solution, but then I remember that we should be using those in the middle east......

This has to be a death penalty case. I know it would be in my home state. You can't do something like this in my home state. We have lots of laws that allow the police to shoot and kll the citizen of this state for any thing they fell treaten with. If you had a stick of chewing gum and you unwarped it and the aluminum side was seen by an officer he has the right to draw his gun and shoot. That happened in a graduation party in a hotel where the police were to enforce underage drinking laws. If the student would have died the officer could not be held responsible because he saw a flash of metal and feared for his life and has a right to shoot to kill. We had a warrant issued for the arrest of a supects when the officers approached the suspect he had his young son on his shoulders, police told him to put his son on the ground and turn around. He put his son down and turned around to fast and was gunned down because of what the officer said was a fugitive move. We all live in a semi-police states. i personally reported the theft of a door on my home that was being built. Police came out picked up the tools use by the criminal and said "I can use these" and put them in the trunk of his police car. He took a short report and told be to go to the flea market in the area and see if i can find the door. Case closed. It was only $1000 door but when some steals $50.00 from a quick stop the place is closed down CSI comes in they assign 2 or 3 officers are assigned to find the criminal.

Or something like that. Or maybe send the repubs. the head of a war veteran who died under a bridge because they cut the funding for veterans. What will probably happen though, is some insurance frauder or Wall Streeter will send them a bag of cash as thanks for screwing the elderly, veterans and everyone else they can. Come on people, your America is on the line here. You want a piece of it or ya'll just gonna hand whats left of it over to the Koch's, Hunts, Scaife's and Murdock? Jeez-Louise! Oh yeah, the oil folk too. They're screwing you too. Talk about war profiteering. Thought that was illegal.

                                  Seriously though, hatred begats hatred.
