Boehner: Nothing 'agreed to until everything is agreed to'

From NBC's Shawna Thomas and Domenico Montanaro
Despite reports today indicating that Democrats and Republicans have settled on a $33 billion compromise figure on the budget showdown, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said there's no such agreement.

"There's no agreement on numbers," Boehner said today in his weekly news conference, "and nothing will be agreed to until everything is agreed to."

He contended: "Democrats are rooting for a shutdown."

Boehner is the most orange idiot I have ever seen! He is an absolute mockery of all that is civilized.

I have to give it to the Teabaggers and republicans, they are most entertaining (in a tragic kind of way).

The party of "spend" doesn't even acknowledge our country and states are broke...they just spend, spend, spend. Of course, it is the tax payers' money, but they (the Senate and House) get their big fat salaries, free cars so why should they care. In California, they all get free cars as if they need them.

Hey Feisty old gal - what was the last contact, labor, or any other type of dispute you were involved in negotiating?

Have you ever negotiated a settlement or resolution of anything?

If so what, and what was your role?

Come on, it's going to be a slow day, let's hear what specialized knowledge, skill, or training you bring to this discussion.

And disputes between you and the bartender when he cuts you off, do not count.

Ha Ha.

The intelligence coming out of FOX NEWS is a joke beyond farcical proportions.

Truly, if the Grim Weeper should hit anything it should be that clueless Eric Cantor for putting all t-baggers on the level of a grade schooler.

Hey, the “Government Shutdown Prevention Act” will Not become the law of the land. untill it passes the Senate and President Obama's signature"; and it won't

That's right Speaker Boehnor bop your # 2 guy, Cantor one. Not only are you righties confused about numbers; but now it's the way bills are made too!!!

Don't forget Boehner's little lap dog Cantor:

Uh Oh! Looks like someone flunked ‘School House Rock'!

  • The Last Word host Lawrence O'Donnell went after House Majority Leader Eric Cantor for, apparently, not knowing how a bill is made into law. Ever helpful, O'Donnell even opened his show by playing the famous and beloved "I'm Just a Bill" song [...]

Maybe it’s just me, but, shouldn’t the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives be erudite in the legislative process?

I mean is that TOO much to ASK?

Just a thought…?

Hey Spank! You sure do spit them questions out fast. So proud you've learnt how to think that quick. It's a pity your ilk can't come up with any answers to help America except cut and give to KOCH and their ilk. What are you trying to say about Boehner? What does this story have to do with Feisty's skill set in negotiations? Can you stay on subject please? You try and explain the babblings of Boehner on this; a drunk herding cats speaking nonsense "Well...uh...we can't..mm...we won't agree..everything will not be agreed to til y'all...NO! NO! NO! Stay together now! You freshmen stay in line! CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!"

Get my meaning, Spank? You won't know what the deal is until OBAMA announces it. He's the key player that get's to you right wingers like a bee in a bonnet at an Easter parade. A black president who knows how to multitask all aspects of his job just rubs some folks raw now don't it. Now speaking of your negotiation skill sets, this man has it down to an art.

Howdy there Missy!

I did done "learnt" myself real good.

Now let's talk math there a minute Missy.

We currently incur $5 billion per day in debt service on the existing debt. Can you calculate what that, all by its lonesome, adds to the debt?

Now Boehner, and particularly the tea party ain't takin' too kindly to that, or the fact that we are about to hit the debt ceiling - $14 Trillion, plus.

So we need to cut spending. $.40 of every dollar is borrowed. That is bad. Now Boehner and the rest want to cut a paltry $60 billion, i.e. about two months worth of increases from debt service alone. That is ridiculous.

But even more ridiculous is the Dems who really don't want to cut anything.

Now me, I reckon I don't care what color Obama is. I'm concerned that our children will be talkin' Chin-y, cause that's who'll own this country at this rate.

You get my meaning there cowgirl?

And Sick - it has actually been more fun today with Dangerfield, but hey, the day is young.

Maybe all the cuts the repugnants want are just unrealistic. They do not want compromise, they don`t want the rich to contribute more. They are just a bunch of heartless bast.... Has anyone of them cut their pay and benefits. Do they ever have to sacrifice anything. What would you cut and feel good about?

Democrats are beyond ignorant.

This is their political posturing at it's worst. There are 22 Democrats in the Senate up for re-election in 2012. The Party of KNOW, The Republican party, only needs three seats more to have a Republican majority in the Senate. This is only the natural order of the universe. Democrats are an abberation. Even being refered to as a Democrat will soon be considered an insult. ( Like calling someone an idiot).

    #4.8 - Sat Apr 2, 2011 12:39 AM EDT

I am a Democrat and the last thing on God's green earth I or anyone wants is for the government to be shut down. It will cause great harm to our military servicemen, retirees, postal employees and so much more. Government checks will not go out. This will hurt real people who count on those checks for food and living expenses. The GOP can keep saying this lie that Democrats want a shutdown when they are the only ones working toward causing and insisting on a shutdown. Good Lord, have you people no sense at all. The republicans came in and have done nothing but harm the government by not approving a budget and now by acting like simpletons when dealing with the government of the United States of America.

How to grow jobs, the economy, remain competitive, and eliminate the deficit:

      1. Legislatively remove the anti-trust exemption for insurance, The McCarran-Ferguson Act.
2.. Legislatively restrict the wetlands definition of "navigable waters of the United States" in the Clean Water Act.
      3. Fund and begin construction of power generation and water supply projects necessary to meet future population and industrial demands.
      4. Remove all geographic restrictions on oil and natural gas drilling, and use the power of federal money transfers to the States to prevent States and local governments from interfering with drilling.
5.. Remove environmental restrictions and environmental and social impact requirements for all infrastructure and utility construction for the next 10 years.
6.Cut Federal budget by 10% excluding defense, starting with those duplicative items identified in the 3/1/11 GAO report and Presidents Debt Commission, however, maintain current spending for infrastructure construction, repair and upgrade for the next 5 years. Repeal the Davis-Bacon Act.
      7. Reduce corporate tax rates by 50%. Reduce Corporate tax rates by 70% on private utilities and transport companies.
      8. Reinstitute significant tax and assistance payments for residential and commercial alternative energy instillations, particularly focusing on residential solar. Use Commerce Clause to force all electrical utilities to be reverse metering.
      9. Subsidies the further development of electric and hybrid electric cars. Provide significant tax breaks and incentives for the purchase of same, particularly when combined with the purchase of a residential solar instillation within two years of one another. This is no longer a simple market issue, but one of national security as the time to substitution is longer than the economy can withstand when confronted with a supply side shock
      10. Eliminate the Ethanol subsidy for any and all processes using foodstuffs. Redirect monies to nuclear and coal. Streamline regulation of new construction of nuclear power plants and provide incentives for same. Open Yucca Mountain as originally agreed.
      11. Eliminate any power of the EPA to regulate Carbon.
      12. Use the power of the Federal purse to eviscerate Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005) and Tahoe-Sierra Preservation Council, Inc. v. Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, 535 U.S. 302 (2002),
      13. Repeal the Community Reinvestment Act.
      14. Hold congressional investigations into the roll of the Community Reinvestment Act, Freddie and Fannie in inflating demand and thus prices resulting in the collapse of the real estate market.
      15. Build a wall embedded with sensors and toped with razor wire along both our borders, beginning with the southern one. In the name of national security remove all environmental restrictions and environmental and social impact requirements for the construction of same.
16 Pass legislation that all jurisdictions receiving federal monies of any sort are required to enforce all of the laws of the land, including enforcement of federal immigration laws.

      17. Restrict the collective bargaining power of State civil service unions in line with the 1978 Federal Civil Service Reform Act
      18. Scrap the tax code and adopt a flat-tax that will build the size of the pie (and thus tax revenues) for everyone instead of the Obama class warfare of trying to redistribute a shrinking one.

      19. Revisit New York Times v. Sullivan and remove the "actual malice" requirement to improve the quality, objectivity and accuracy of media reporting,

How much money do you suppose would be generate by removing Obama tax cuts for the wealthies 2%? Heck, how much money would be generated if the 2% were taxed at 99%?

Now compare that to the deficit. I know math is hard, but it don't lie.

Say Fiona111, how do you feel about the fact that Immelt's company paid no taxes? He is after all Obama's boy.

The 435 billionaire's and the 2.4 million millionairs have a total wealth of $7 trillion at the end of 2009 - down from $8 trillion in 2005. If you confiscate every dime they have you only pay off half of the National Debt. Then what are you gonna do???

Lets go back to Clinton era tax rates and budgets. That will raise the top 2% taxes by $70 billion per year and the bottom 98% taxes by $330 billion per year. Will guarantee 0bummer is a 1 termer for sure. Oh and lets go back to Clinton's last budget while we are at it - 2001 budget was passed on time and on his watch (Oct 2000) and was just under $2 trillion. I will take those tax rates and budgets. I would even take the 2005 budget of $2.5 trillion. Looks like peanuts to what this moron is spending - ($3.7 trillion)

But if we all paid our fair share we would be okay. It makes no sense corps paying no taxes. and the very wealthy paying little. The greed in this country is disgusting and the ones that support it are no better. I am all for small businesses getting breaks and I know putting the burden on them could kill a business, but these mega corps need to open their wallets If they choose to go elsewhere so be it they should be taxed even more. When the American people can not afford their crap maybe then they`ll get the picture. They screw us we screw them.

In fact an in depth investigation based on his behavior patterns would surely reveal he has been in treatment for his alcoholism and that is where he developed his penchant for those orange tans to explain frequent absences. Are not special interest groups, by their very nature parasitic?

Is there not a large group or people and groups, on both side, sucking at the tit?

Dems pander, that's just reality, right? What he said about the specific group he reference is accurate, the fact that it could have been said about another group does not make it less accurate.

Last night on MSNBC, Chris Hayes, who the libs worship as THEE all knowing oracle of all things left stated that the one who stands to gain most by a gov shutdown is Obama himself. This would place him in a position to ride in on his horse and save the day and be a hero. The ones who stand to lose is congress…i.e. the GOP. Given history and this factoid, it seems unusually partisan and closed minded of you to think Bob is wrong and the dems couldn’t possibly be less then agreeable as they weigh the benefits of a shutdown to them. Come on man…return to the middle and be that guy again that can see through the BS.

WTF back at ya....Just askin man, just askin.

I’ll take Spanky’s advise and leave you alone now. Enjoy the stadium.

Personally I enjoy reading Spanky's posts! From his comments he seems to be a pretty inteligent person and he does a great job of calling out the fools that post on this vine.

I think Spanky provides a nice balance to what would otherwise be a heavily left leaning scale (filled with lop-sided opinions of dreamers)

Keep up the good work Spanky ol' buddy ol' pal!

                He's most definitely a lefty...BUT...he isn't a partisan ideologue.

Mixed, I can’t disagree with you on that and have told Dangerfield as much in the recent past. Thus my surprise at him “losing it” when I asked him to clarify his stance. My occasional posts of a mere couple a month can hardly be construed as one who promotes “pi$$ing matches”. I guess I didn’t read fast enough for him and he seemed a little over sensitive today.Ahh well, we all have bad days.

Where in the hell are all the jobs Boenher and his Republican buddies promised? All you heard was "we are going to put people back to work" before the election from these losers and now that subject is never mentioned. All the Republicans can muster up are plans that take from the poor and give to the rich, this country is doomed to third world status, greatest country on earth? Only for a handful of rich bastards at the top like Boenher

Way to break out with a totally original comment.

Have you been here before? care to guess the number of times that has been discussed?

But ok why don't you tell us how the Republicans take from the poor and give to the rich.

Was it through the tax code? And who wrote that?

Was it through the trade laws? You have heard of NAFTA, right?

Was it through legislation? Cause there is this group called democrats, and brother they have passed a law or two.

So what you got w bush? And try to be as specific as possible - we conservatives are very dense, as you know.

                    NAFTA...NAFTA...NAFTA...

...the one George H.W. Bush signed on December 17, 1992...?

...the one who's negotiations started under Ronald Reagan...?

I know where you were trying to go with that one, so I will give you extra credit:

Bush, who had worked to "fast track" the signing prior to the end of his term, ran out of time and had to pass the required ratification and signing into law to incoming president Bill Clinton.

You had no less a "right winger" rooting for a shutdown than Howard Dean. That tells the whole story, folks. Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer spin the shutdown yarn every single time they get in front of a mike- and reveal the strategy while not knowing the feed is live.

It is time to get real. Cuts need to be made. Period.

Suppose for a moment there was a right leaning organization that received federal funds- not tax write- offs, but actual taxpayer dollars- for their programs. Although this organization was wildly unpopular with all but the far right, the notion that their funds could be cut was totally unthinkable, because they claimed that the bulk of those funds went to a program no one could fathom cutting- say, free immunizations for poor children.

Now, further suppose that it was revealed that no such program existed.

Think the left would scream to cut the funds? Think they demand investigations and prosecutions?

I do. I think I would be with them- especially on the fund cutting front.

                        So, read this

                        http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/planned-parenthood-challenged-on-purported-mammogram-claim/2011/03/30/AFjCFO3B_story.html

Now, I do not know about you, but I have hear "mammograms" in just about every article and post with regard to P.P. They have, and do, proclaim that to be part of the healthcare they provide.

In fact, they are abortion providers, pure and simple. Pap smears and birth control are side issues- dealt with AFTER the abortion is performed. While we are on topic, P.P. Considers abortion to BE birth control- although they are less loud about proclaiming it- preferring the innocuous "women's reproductive health services".

They are and have been in violation of the Hyde Act. Cut them off.

                        Then let's start the investigations.

It's a whole lot easier to root for a shutdown when you hold no office, have no constituents.

As is too often the case, Howard Dean isn't to be taken seriously...definitely not, in this instance.

But it's kinda akin to the DOJ clearing the DOJ of wrongdoing in the Black Panther Case.

No way Spank(er), I'll say it and you can call me whatever. Hint: racist, but if the DOJ, Eric Holder, wasn't a Black man Megan Kelly's fantasies wouldn't have undies all in a twist. The righties not attributing the white militia groups and t-bagger voter intimidation is really not asking for justice for all Americans.

                        J. Christian Adams is a GOP hack and his testimony is all hearsay. J. Christian Adams, the former DOJ lawyer who is the right’s star witness in this case, was part of the Department Of Justice’s attempt to stack the office with politically motivated lawyers during the Bush administration. Lawyers like Adams were hired by Bradley Schlozman not based on their legal abilities, but rather their loyalty to the Republican party and advocacy for conservative causes. In his testimony, Adams cites a lot of hearsay but nothing he directly observed. In other words, office gossip at best, possibly completely fabricated stories at worst.

A former Justice Department official discriminated against liberal job applicants at the department and then made false statements to Congress on the matter, according to a Justice Department report released Tuesday.

                        http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/DOJ/story?id=6637861&page=1

After their review of e-mails and other messages from Schlozman and interviews with his former colleagues, the investigators found that he "favored applicants with conservative political or ideological affiliations and disfavored applicants with civil rights or human rights experience whom he considered to be overly liberal."

Based on Schlozman's statements during the hearing and his written responses to lawmakers' questions, investigators concluded that he was not truthful in his testimony.

Justification for your telling a woman what to do with her body has nothing to do with the budget but since you broght it up:

Let's suppose you are a married pregnant woman in a marriage in which the man beats the wife into biblical submission to have sex at will. Let's further suppose that you finally find the courage to leave the bastard and take your small brood of his progeny and yourself to safety. Can you (talking to the real ALL BLOW now)appreciate that this poor woman is NOT in control of her own destiny. Her husband has her under his thumb and she lives in fear. Are you NO JO going to tell this woman she has to have this man's spawn even after she finds safety? You are going to pay for it you know.

This is what I just don't get. You don't want the unwanted pregnancy to be aborted but you don't want to support the resultiing single parent families do you. Is it her falut she is pregnant? That her husband is a cad? Probably a religious self-righteous cad like my sacntimonious dad.

Abortion is not a budget issue; it's a human issue, a personal one at that. AND it needn't be any concern for the male of our species. Are you a man NO? Hey, there's an idea, let's investigate that!

Abortion "needn't be any concern for the male of our species."?

                        Did you really say that?

                        Do you actually believe it?

I don't believe that most Democrats are rooting for a shutdown...maybe some are, but most, I'm guessing, don't want to risk having any of the blame for that outcome laid at their doorstep. And, it's very uncertain at this point exactly who will be blamed most. That's the most likely reason there's finally movement in the budget negotiations.

Remember...whatever happens, the projected FY 2011 budget deficit is $1.65 trillion...43 cents of every dollar spent this year is borrowed.

The Republican proposal for spending cuts represents less than 3.7% of that $1.65 trillion deficit; the Democrats' counterproposal, just 2% of the projected deficit.

They both know that neither side wins, so they play rhetorical "chicken" in public while working out a deal in private. The "smoke filled rooms" of yesteryear still operate, just with a lot less actual smoke...and the partisans cheer for their "side" oblivious to the political reality that drives the issue..

                          just an opinion, of course...

I really don't think the Dem's are looking to go into shutdown but my main complaint is that everyone seems to be more hard pressed about the upcoming election and how they are going to worm their way back into the heart of the voters. In the meantime all the BS with the economy seems to be handled like a mere second thought,Not really important at all(over being re-elected into THEIR job that is).

And even though I really don't agree with a lot of the elected Tea Party they do appear to be the only one with a sense of urgency on our dire financial state.

The U.S. Congress is one dysfunctional and pathetic institution. They mindlessly bicker about nonsense poking sticks in one another's eyes while the people of this country do without, losing hope. I hate to tell Congress but the millions of people that currently are hopeless will in time become angry and vindictive demanding retribution, people who feel they have nothing have nothing to lose.

John Boehner is afraid to compromise because the Tea Party has him in a bind. Michele Bachmann will cut him off at the knees if he even hints of compromise. He better be careful because when she becomes President he will really be in a bind. Am I being sarcastic? You betcha.

And if the Democratic Party had a backbone, they would call the bluff by Republicans by allowing government to shut down. Then the Democratic Party can say, "We tried to negotiate in good faith, the Republican side decided to be inflexible." Obama could hold a news conference announcing the suspension of all pay for Senators and Congressmen until the budget is approved and then use presidential powers to cut off funding to all Republican backed pet projects. Then for the sake of national security suspend tax breaks for corporations, roll back tax breaks for the rich, and announce the uncapping of social security. And he could go after corporations for anti-trust violations and tax fraud. See that's all the Republicans will respond to...going after their base.

If they cut spending ,just don't go after the programs that benefit the middle class. People should realize that cutting programs won't do it . It's putting a bandaid on it . All this will do is slow down the accumulatuion of debt. If you don't have money coming in while you cut spending ,the debt won't be paid off . The republicans should raise the taxes on the wealthy along with cutting spending right away. after a couple years raise everyones taxes ,it's got to happen sooner or later. They won't raise taxes on the top wealth earners though ,it would hinder them from creating all these jobs that I see popping up all over this country. So , go ahead republicans go ahead with your cuts without trying to bring more capitol in , and ,oh by the way ,don't forget to vote yourself that cost of living increase because prices are going up on everything now. 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paid Callers for Right Wing Radio Need to be Investigated!

Right wing radio is the GOP’s most important media tool. If the GOP is using hired callers and organizing scripted callers for national and local radio talk shows to push referenda, legislation, and candidates and attack others all year around should the money used be included in filings to the Federal Election Commission (FEC)?

The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) needs to know. If it’s fraudulent advertising should the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and other federal agencies investigate? Maybe the Better Business Bureau needs to know.

The main national right wing talkers are well coordinated as a unit on a daily basis. The main ones regurgitate much of the same material. They’re getting paid millions to sell national GOP and US Chamber of Commerce talking points.

Fox gets paid very well though to spread the lies and their commentators are very wealthy indeed look at Rush, Beck, and Mr. "No spin" They have very wealthy supporters. Of course they had to stop funding real news they tell the truth about things. We at least have the comedians on our side. I love it when they go after the repugnants.

Brought to you from the spam add council of New Spamalot. Also with endorsements from the cut and paste foundation. Suspected backing from the "i plagiarized another source without referencing or citing it" council of academic ethics.

All toungue and cheek aside though i really can't imagine you would want to live in an America run the way you suggest.

Would you really want a munitions plant dumping chemicles into your local cities well water, the local dry cleaner dumping to the sewer, or the electronics manufacturing plant dumping heavy metals into the river? How about removing lead requirements in paint, or asbestos working conditions.

I honestly don't believe you have ANY idea what your manifesto actually means.
