The Donald was at it again, offering a full-throated defense of birtherism and birthers this morning on MSNBC’s The Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd and Savannah Guthrie.
Asked if he wants to be taken seriously, why he continues to defend the false conspiracy theory that President Obama was not born in the United States, Donald Trump said, “Well, I do think it’s a serious issue. ... I am embracing the issue. I’m proud of the issue.” He claimed it is “not that much of a conspiracy… it’s really not.”
Trump, who says he's considering a run as a Republican for president in 2012, went further, chastising the media for using the term “birthers,” calling it “derogatory” to lots of “intelligent” people.
He said if it were true that the president weren’t born in the United States it would be the “greatest scam in the history of this country” and that there’s “certainly a chance” he’s not born in the U.S. He claimed Obama “could have come in after birth and could have been registered for purposes of hospitalization” or even “welfare.” “Excuse me,” he said, “I’ve grown up watching some of the great thieves of the world… this is peanuts compared to what these people do.”
He deadpanned later: “We all agree he was born.”
NBC’s Pete Williams reported on the birth announcement that appeared in the Honolulu Advertiser in 1961. Trump dismissed that, claiming the notice was “three days later. … Lots of things could happen.”
He added that “no nurses, no doctors, nobody came forward.” And he said that about 50 percent of Republicans “think he wasn’t born in the country” – and they’re “intelligent” people.
He even went so far as to almost question if Chuck Todd’s children were born in the United States after Todd said that he has “certificates of live birth” from DC. He contended that Todd could go down to the hospital where they were born and get authorization to get a more official “birth certificate” from the Department of Health -- provided they were born in the U.S., “which I assume they were,” Trump said.
Trump was also asked if he’s prepared for the financial scrutiny that would come with running for president. Official candidates for president are required to file financial disclosure forms. Asked, in particular, about his companies that have filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Trump became defensive.
“I never went bankrupt,” Trump said, trying to draw a distinction between personal bankruptcy and putting a company into Chapter 11. “Many of the biggest people in this country, many times have filed Chapter 11s on various companies in order to reduce debts.” He added, “I’ve done an unbelievable job” and used the laws of the country to help his companies.
Asked then if the United States should file for bankruptcy, Trump said no. “I wouldn’t recommend that,” he said, because the United States has more leverage.
On Libya, Trump said he didn’t “know enough” about the rebels to arm them.
On his decision to run for president, he said, “I will make a decision sometime prior to June.
“We’ll all have a lot of fun together.”

A legitimate question that was answered a long, long time ago. It is the persistence of the questions that demonstrates the racism that is at its core. I remember when the for darling of the Republican Party, "Arnold" was voted Government of California. The was a lot of very vocal people who thought we should repeal the law that prevents naturalized citizens from running for President. Those same people are now questioning the birth certificate! You just can't make this stuff up.
Birthers tend to be white, middle aged and older, and often from southern states.

Trump has education and business experience to run on. Of course this is not all one needs on their resume to be POTUS, but it's a foundation. Then like Huckabee, he takes himself out of the race before it starts by embracing a conspiracy theory.
One key element to conspiracy theories is the word "conspiracy," which means multiple players and resources come together to pull something off. President Obama's family had neither connections or resources to game the system. In fact, based on this logic we should not trust Trump.
And I guess we shouldn't expect much more from a Reality TV and Beauty Contest celebrity. Ultimately, his defensiveness about bankruptcy (for example) also shows that he lacks the correct temperament to be POTUS, just as McCain did. Then top that off with a really big ego--haunting.

I don't really get it. I mean even though I am an Obama supporter in general, I could come up with plenty of legit issues that I disagree with him on. You would think the right wingers would be able to argue legit issues on which they have philosophical differences with the president, rather than nutty things like this. It would be so much more sensible. You can oppose Obama on his positions on foreign policy, health care, gay rights, abortion rights, and any other relevant political issue, and put together a coherent argument if you so desire. So why would anyone in thier right mind focus on this birther nonsense?
Any individual that questions the President's birth in the US must be certifiable. Look at Trump, everyone of his casinos is bankrupt. His holdings in New York City are bankrupt. This man lives strictly on his name, which is really nothing to be proud of. He was forced to do a TV show which was a failure. People can't be serious about electing him to any office, much less the Presidency. Of course he could always run for governor of Florida. What's one more criminal in the statehouse? If the birth issue is the only thing that Republicans can run on, Obama is heading for certain re-election. Trump will become just another criminal repuke and tea sucker.

Normally the DNC does not certify the Constitutional eligibility of their candidate because they say that is the responsibility of the state party. The DNC claims to certify the national candidate in each of the individual states based on that state allowing the candidate to be on the ballot, which is supposed to mean that the state has verified that the person is eligible for the job.
But they ran into a problem with Hawaii because the HDP refused to certify Obama’s Constitutional eligibility. According to the DNC protocols that should have meant that the DNC wouldn’t certify Obama as their candidate in Hawaii, if at all. Instead, they made an exception and Nancy Pelosi signed the certification of eligibility without having done ANY verification at all. She knew she was perjuring herself by claiming to know he was eligible. And she had to have some idea why the HDP refused to certify eligibility. Fraud by Pelosi and DNC Attorney Joseph Sandler, who had the special certificate drawn up.
The attorney who has represented the HDP the past 15 years is one William H Gilardy, Jr. -- The very same attorney who represented Obama’s mother in her divorce from Lolo Soetoro. Think he's seen Zero's real birth certificate?! LOL

Upon release of a FOIA request on Obama's mother's passport records to determine her whereabouts Aug, 1961 and thus where Barry was born, the U.S. State Dept cover letter states...
the pre-1965 material "could not be located" and many passports/non vital records "were destroyed in 1980's".

It fits in with the time line for the Obama Sr./Stanley Ann Dunham divorce proceedings from Jan 20-March 20, 1964. The judge must know who parents are before he awards child support/custody and that is disclosed by a birth certificate as required by Hawaii law, like most state statutes require.
Just so happens these divorce papers skip page 11 with a missing page in back, which would have been said birth certificate....Scrubbed from the microfiche.
The Kenyan birth certificate copy has been dubbed a "forgery" with Dem operatives who made altered copies with slight variations.
However, we have the provenance of the date. In addition, this registered birth certificate copy has been presented in court under oath. It has real stamps and signatures of real people. Obama has submitted nothing.

Denise, he has. Links have been posted all over this thread. The state of HI has certified he was born there. If you believe in the notion of states' rights, you will understand (a) that what HI says goes, and (b) not all states do things the same way, so the fact that a Hawaian birth certificate looks different from one you obtained in your state of birth is meaningless. States have the right to do things differently. Denying Hawaii the right to be the final answer in this question is denying states' rights, which is supposed to be a cornerstone of our nation.

Zero could have established res judicata in the very first lawsuit, Berg v. Obama. Yet that didn't happen. Instead in Zero's lawyer's brief it stated that "particulary embarassment would result in submitting the requested documentation"

Hawaian officials - including a repub governor - have certified multiple times that he has a valid Hawaian birth cert. Your refusal to accept their pronouncement means you don't believe in states' rights. Add to that the numerous courts that have debunked the theory, and you also apparently don't believe in our court system. You must also think that all of Obama's opponents, in and out of his party, are idiots because they didn't properly vet this issue.
I suggest you take off your tinfoil hat for a bit and look at the evidence objectively.
