NEVADA: After a lukewarm showing in the 2008 elections, Nevada Republicans are working to ensure the state is not overlooked on its Feb. 18 caucus date, the AP reports. Among the efforts: “a series of mock caucuses, train volunteers about how to hold a caucus and teach voters the intricacies of participating in the process. Party leaders also are seeking advice from experts in Iowa, which for years has held the leadoff caucuses. And the GOP is stepping up fundraising to ensure that it has enough money to rent venues for the voting sessions.”
Nevada Republican “kingmaker” Sid Rogich, the founder of R&R Advertising and president of the Rogich Communications Group, says that Mitt Romney has the state caucus locked up, meaning other candidates might visit the state but won’t play heavily in it, the Reno Gazette-Journal writes

Nevada certainly will reflect public opinion about economic progress and job growth. The state has been ravaged by the Bush Recession and collapse of the housing market.
There's also a curious situation in Las Vegas that may come back to bite ultra-right opponents of the EPA and OSHA - the massive new city center development that was completed just in time for everyone to almost go broke in 2008 apparently unleased a substantial amount of pollutants in the building process. People have literally fled the city not only because they were jobless and homeless, but also because they suffered from persistent, severe respiratory problems linked to the construction job. Vegas leaders hve downplayed the issue, but it still persists, according to reports from city residents.
Jobs, jobs, jobs - that's what Nevadans want. How will the GOP caucuses bring that issue up in 2012, especially if the GOP House majority continues to avoid the issue? If Romney means to be a serious candidate, it's time he started developing his plans and messages on the subject, rather than spending his time ducking any connection to the Massachussetts health program.
You're about that John. The problem with Romney is the Tea Party. He probably won't get the nomination due to their bashing him on the Massachusetts' health care program and his religious beliefs.
