Palin praises Ferraro

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the second woman to run on a national ticket, reacted to the death of Geraldine Ferraro in a Facebook posting, calling her an "amazing woman who dedicated her life to public service."  Although the two women could not be further apart politically, they share a unique experience.  Ferraro was often supportive of Palin during the 2008 campaign even if she didn't agree with her policy positions.  Here's Palin's Facebook post:

"My family and I would like to express our sincere condolences to the family of Geraldine Ferraro. When I had the honor of working alongside Geraldine on election night last year, we both discussed the role of women in politics and our excited expectation that someday that final glass ceiling would be shattered by the election of a woman president. She was an amazing woman who dedicated her life to public service as a teacher, prosecutor, Congresswoman, and Vice Presidential candidate. She broke one huge barrier and then went on to break many more. The world will miss her. May she rest in peace and may her example of hard work and dedication to America continue to inspire all women."

NBC's Domenico Montanaro shares his thoughts on the life and career of former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro.

Uh-oh...

Olbermann isn't going to like this at all.

Praise for "Special Comment" Geraldine Ferraro?

Where is he, anyway...?

Godspeed, Gerry...

You just have to love the effusive praise of Geraldine Ferraro from the left...everyone from former Speaker Pelosi to Salon's Joan Walsh...

But...how many of them objected to Keith Olbermann's "Special Comment" about Gerry Ferraro, right here at MSNBC?

Olbermann called Ferraro a racist!

Have you all forgotten?

What convenient memories you have...

Anyone remember...?

Anyone?

Contemptible...

Keith who? Oh yes, now I remember - the old sportscaster that was a flop as a political commentator. I hope he asks his new employer (Al Gore) why he bought an oceanfront house in California if he's so worried about rising sea levels - or is that "An Inconvenient Truth"?

He will now have a platform from which he can make news. MSNBC/COMCAST was going to be too restrictive on his "liberal" bias. He has free reign in his new position as news director and commentator. Prepare to have your right wingnut illusions skewered and imploded, much like WTC#7 on 9/11.

Try reading for comprehension for a change ROY. His viewership isn't the issue. NEWS is not supposed to be about pandering to the lowest common denominator in order to get ratings good enough to charge top dollar for advertising time. Real JOURNALISM is an obligation of public service and trust. Keith will make news which will be re-broadcast, even on FOX "NEWS", though surely in highly edited form.

Sarah Palin shattered the glass ceiling alright. So much to the point it allowed a whole host of right nut job women.

I voted for the Mondale-Ferraro ticket, so I have a fondness for Gerry. Of course, that was when you could still have some conservative views, and be welcome in the Democratic Party. Have things changed, or what?

Keeping Olbermann's comment in the context that it was presented, yes, what she said was racist. To say someone is sucessful simply because that person is black is racist. Just as it would have been sexist if someone running had said that Ferraro, Clinton or Palin had gotten as far as they had simply because they were women.

So no, I won't disagree with an opinion that seems truthful.

At least you answered and replied with what you honestly believe...Geraldine Ferraro was a racist.

I don't agree, but you and Olbermann are entitled to your opinions...like Hannity, Beck, or any other Americans.

And Keith's "Special Comment" about our Secretary Of State, Hillary Clinton?

                How about her?

                #11.2 - Sat Mar 26, 2011 7:17 PM EDT

What I said was her statement was racists. I can't say that she herself was as I did not know her personally. What she said was more in favor of Clinton than it was against Obama.

Hillary's response was to her comment was lukewarm at best and was made in the heat of the campaign. She was more focused on whatever she could say that distracted from the comment from Ferraro. It's easy to see why Keith would have a problem with someone not willing to make a stand for honesty in the face of expediency.

Campaigns do not bring out the best in people.

I doubt the comment came from Palin herself. Most likely a staffer or moderator for her facebook page. Palin is incapable of talking about a Democrat without using words like "socialist" or "liberal" or "big government," let alone stringing together a coherent sentence such as this one that supposedly comes from her.

I add my thoughts and prayers for the Ferraro family.

It's funny how we make progress and sometimes do not notice: Rep. Ferraro was dogged by her husband's business problems, but Palin gets criticism on her OWN issues. Small progress, but progress, nonetheless.

On the other hand, I know a lot of women who would not support Hillary simply because she chose to stay married to a man other women would have divorced, so maybe the progress is not so great.

In all honesty what Palin says, thinks, believes is of absolutely no consequence. Even on the issue of Ms Ferraro if it did not benefit Palin personally she would have said vile and vituperative things against Geraldine. Palin has one thought in mind 24/7 what does it benefit me? Just as all the naysayers are now saying about Libya. "What is the gain to the US? The saving of a life one single life is what anyone can hope to achieve but naysayers want the cash equivalent instead.

This was just another opportunity for the quiter to open her big mouth and spew more crap that she thinks we all want to hear . Palin respected Ferraro, that is just too funny! Palin is like a piece of ABC gum on humanity's shoe. Kind of annoying and we just can't seem to scrap her off.

Sarah Palin, Cristine O'Donnel, Michelle Bachmann and Sharon Angel have several things in common. They are all very good at conning money from stupid people, they prove that you can fool some of the people all of the time, and they prove that while you don't have to be stupid to be a conservative, most conservatives are stupid.
