Mississippi governor and potential Republican presidential candidate Haley Barbour weighed in several times this week not only on President Obama’s handling of the situation in Libya, but also what Barbour said was the Obama administration’s overall lack of leadership over the last two years.
On Tuesday, while in Nevada to meet with Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) and other Republican lawmakers, Barbour was at first measured in his criticism. "When our men and women are involved in military action I think we need to be very careful about critiquing the administration,” he said.
But he went on to say that “the administration dithered a long time before making a decision” and that the U.S. should not take orders from the UN, NATO or wait for permission from the Arab League.
“When it is in our interests and the needs of the United States require us to take military action, sure we should consult our allies, but we should not wait for them to tell us what to do,” he added.
In radio interview in his home state yesterday, Barbour went further and criticized the administration on leadership. “Since World War II, the world has looked to America for leadership,” Barbour said, “But we haven’t provided leadership in this administration. In fact, the Obama administration’s position has been to say, you know, we’re just one of the boys, so we’re not going to try to be the leader.”
Barbour also questioned the end goal of the operations, warning that the U.S. should be “careful…about getting into nation-building exercises.”
On a lighter note, as Barbour walked out of the building the Tuesday press conference was held in he quipped to the cameramen shooting him, “Make me look thin!” The recently trimmer Barbour has previously joked that his weight could be an indication he might be running for president. The Hill reported, back in June of 2010, Barbour saying, “If you see me losing 40 pounds that means I’m either running or have cancer.” In March, USA TODAY quotes Barbour as saying, “I hope I can lose some more.”

"Barbarian Barbour" does not have the intellect as President Obama, and is just an old southern rascist. He is a big hit on the "Nazi News Network." AKA. Fox News. He and his fellow "Gross Odd People" (GOP) will go to any political length to discredit our President, and "Nutty Newt" just loves to join in. These individuals are driven by hate, and "Lunatic Limbaugh" loves to broadcast his "Messages of Madness" everyday on the radio. "Barbarian Barbour" is wrong on all his information or as it is known as for 95% of our nation. Misinformation! President Obama did inform the Congress of what he is doing, and was still able to do his Presidential duties where needed. It is nice to have a President that can multi-task competently. The GOP just cannot cognitively comprehend that our President is competent, thinks things out carefully, and is able to speak clearly. The "Gross Odd People" GOP have been crititcal of President Obama even before he took office. They have gone to such political lows as to boo him while giving a State of the Union Address. They have formed the "Tea Bag" movement funded by the very rich, large corporations, and rich insurance companies. Their bags of rotten tea are politically polluting, economically exclusionary, and socially sadistic towards those who are in unfortunate situations. Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! The Party of No has got to go!!"
Haven't heard that since the VietNam era riots! Often associated with those folks who loved Ho Chi Minh. I find your statement that Prez. Flopsie can multi-task competantly......but does he appear to ever end his multi-tasking? He consistently jumps from one issue to another, talking a good teleprompter game while not accomplishing much.
And for thinking things out clearly with great diction - without a teleprompter, can you count the numbers of uhms, ahs and you knows from the mouth of this guy. He is so calculated that his mind continues to work when a simple answer is all that is required. Image is so important to him.
Now it is evident that you are not a fan of conservative, instead favoring the progressive party. No problem, but why the verbal attacks on the opposition?
Can you articulate your divisions with out name calling?
Hey Swampyjackpot, can you do the same thing talk a coherent conversation without name calling?????
But there again a article like this always, always brings out the Reichwing Loons......
They can talk a good talk but when the going gets tough and someone has a coherent thing to say they start name calling......Typical thou!
At least Obama can talk and pronouce his words without messing up a sentence to do it....George Moron Jr.'s Nucular.......That is with a Telepromter, mind you!!!!
Progressive=Forward11, well said......
Whyputaname
Wonderful retort person. Yes, I can articulate a coherent conversation without name calling.....and I can also spout the Democratic version of a discussion - name calling, racist comments, and other items that are more negative than constructive. When responding to a comment by a member of the liberal element, responses are much like your "Reichwing" comments.
Look at a typical liberal response - read those from Feisty and Bev and you will see strong verbal attacks. Yes, any opposing views are detrimental to the views of many on this site.
As for the number of ums, ahs and such by the Prez., even the liberal comics like Stewart make fun of the guy. Is it acceptable for the liberals to make such comments while conservative cannot?
The "Dude-in-Chief" according to Stewart, is a public figure and fair game for comments.

Who also gave permission to invade Iraq, Congress, based on the WMD's that were never found.......
