Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels did not offer any hints Sunday about when - or if - he might decide to launch a presidential run, saying that he has "agreed to consider" a campaign for the White House but also praising the other GOP candidates already in the field.
"Others have said over the course of the last year and a half that I ought to consider something that had never entered my mind [before]," Daniels said on NBC's Meet the Press. "I've agreed to consider it."
The Indiana Republican praised his potential rivals, saying that "any one" of them could take up the mantle of fiscal discipline that has been a hallmark of his own political career.
"I still think there's time," he said of the evolving GOP presidential field. "There's some really good people running. I like them all. I'm hoping that our party will simply step up to the issues of the day, and it could be any one of those folks."
Daniels, whose fiscal expertise has prompted some Republicans to urge him strongly towards a run, also declined to give a timeline for making the decision.
"I have no idea," Daniels responded when asked if he could wait all summer to jump into the presidential contest.
"I am completely committed to the job I'm in now," he said, adding that "if deadlines pass, they do." (He has previously said that he will make a decision after his state's legislative session ends.)
The Bush-era budget chief -- given the nickname "The Blade" because of his enthusiasm for slashing spending -- is a favorite of fiscal hawks who see the Indiana governor as a serious and knowledgeable foe of the federal deficit. But social conservatives abhor Daniels' statement that the nation's fiscal crisis warrants a Republican "truce" on social issues like abortion and same sex marriage.
On Sunday, Daniels dismissed the question of whether his "truce" comments could harm his political chances in early nominating states Iowa and South Carolina. "I don't sit around calculating the political pluses and minuses of every little word I utter," he said, adding that he agrees with the policy proposals most dear to social conservatives' hearts.
In order to solve the big problems of the federal deficit, he said, "we're going to have to get together people who disagree on other things. That's all I've said."

Daniels will NOT be the 2012 Teapubican nominee - he appears to be fairly intelligent which is an automatic disqualification with the tea baggers!
See Michelle Bachmann's comments from yesterday:
Scott Conroy at Real Clear Politics notes, however, an accuracy glitch in what the Tea Party darling had to say:
The Tea Party has mainstreamed CRAZEE!
When she said 5,000 years of history I would imagine she "could" be referring to the time when Dinosaurs coexisted with humans right?
Good morning Fiesty,
That zombie Michelle Bachmann is nothing more than a listless troll dwelling in the T- bagger caucus in search of human life that could revive AND SPIN their inflammatory LIES.
She and that Dodo bird, Sarah Palin are two of the most clueless species on earth in search of intelligent life.
In fact, that huge sign she had on TV which is so indicative of of a true T-bagger-- a T-bagger must tote a sign laden with lies and innuedos-- is a BIG @aa lie. The Washington Post Fact Checker gave that listless troll 4, not 1, Pinocchios.
The Pinocchio Test
There is no "bombshell" except Bachmann's bombast.
She is correct that Congress already has appropriated some spending in future years, but her claim that this money was "hidden" does not have credibility. The money for these programs was clearly described and analyzed by the Congressional Budget Office before the legislation was voted into law.
She needs to get a new sign.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2011/03/bachmanns_bombshell_on_a_hidde.html
=========================================
I'll drink to that she does need a new sign; mainly a show of intelligence. Mitch will not win. he won't buck Grover norquist
Michele Bachman parades around as if she is the ultimate patriot.
Good grief after what she said yesterday regarding Lexington & Concord - Sam Adams and John Hancock and Paul Revere must be turning over in their graves.
That lady is a moron.
I watched a program last night on CSPAN and it was talking about all the documents The Library of Congress has stored for us to view. It blew me away. And at the end of the program, they spoke about - I have forgotten what the exact name of the website is - but it's some sort of digital website The Library of Congress has set up, where people from countries from all over the world can hook up and share information about their cultures. Their first week up and running, they got millions and millions and millions of hits on their website.
These hopefully are younger generations reaching out to other parts of the world and sharing information.
And it got me to thinking about people like Gingrich and Palin and Bachman and Huckabee and those who showed up at the"tea party" rallies and I realized just how truly ignorant they all are. The future means nothing to them. They have zero curiosity about real life, real history and how we progress forward.
They're stuck in the past. A past they know zero about btw.
They remind me of those stifling "nice" suburbs where the old lady housewives are constantly looking out their windows at their neighbors, to see who owns what, whose wearing what, who goes to Church, who doesn't, etc. and then blah blah blahing to everybody. Their core belief is that we can't have any working class people in the neighborhood making a decent wage. They need to be kept in their place is their attitude.
That's what they care about. Being nosy and certainly NOT minding their own business. And if this were the 1770's Bachman would not have been a patriot. She would have been a loyalist.
And then thrown out of the country after the Revolutionary War was over. She's a sell out. A not very bright sell out.
I hope today's so-called "patriots" don't belong to this digital website at The Library of Congress. What an embarrassment they would be.
Feisty do you know if Lexiton and Concord is in one of the 57 states Obama visited during his campaign? Of course only Dems are allowed to misspeak and only Repubs are wrong.
Obama's Prayer? - "One of the Prettiest Sounds On Earth At Sunset." and Bachman's 1775, Huchabee Blah blah
"Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is the prophet...."
In Obama's pre-presidential campaigninterview with Nicholas D, Krisof of the New York Times, Obama chants the opening lines of the "Adhan" in Arabic, with what Kristof says is a first class accent and then volunteers that this Muslim "Call to Prayer" is "One of the Prettiest Sounds On Earth At Sunset."
How many Americans, how many Christians - can recite this confession of faith in Arabic with a perfect accent like Obama did?
Muslim scholars would say that if a person recites these lines, the person becomes for all time, a Muslim. Obama with such ease and facility surelyknows this, he knows the Shahada is the confession of faith.
He was raised for a few years, "the formative years" (right), in a Muslim country, the most populace Muslim country in the world, in a Muslim household - his stepfather was a Muslim, his uncles and aunts were Muslims ...... his several Freudian slips, "My Muslim faith" slips after he started campaigning ......
How come Obama didn't mention anything Christian was "One of the Prettiest "...... "Ava Maria" is not pretty? Millions of Christians certainly do.
Oh well.
Why the above?
The left is constantly mocking the right about the Muslim question. And it is a question for many. Obama sanitizes everything and the left chooses to ignore it. OK. The right largely ignores. OK. Some question it. OK.
By why the attacks? Why the ad hominem on everything?
Most of the conservatives come here everyday and we go after Obama. But we don't go after his religion, we don't go mock his big ears...... we go after his policies, his agenda, his legislation, his lack of leadership, his in competence, his naivety, his duplicity, his deceit......what he is doing to this country, the direction is taking this country ........
What religion he is doesn't matter, if someone cries - who cares, cross-eyed, Thorazine, Snot Walker, tea bagger, blah, blah and yea Michelle's butt is a big as a water buffalo's - so what - who cares.
Can you guys ever argue the issues, or is the childish ad hominem all you got?
Thank you for lauding the intelligence of Indiana's Republican Governor, Mitch Daniels, Feisty.
Like Wisconsin's Governor Walker, Daniels took a stand on the issue of collective bargaining with regard to Indiana's public service employees in an effort to ensure that his state would be able to balance its budget.
He issued an executive order ending collective bargaining for public service employees in Indiana, and as a result, his job approval ratings took a hit...just as Governor Walker's have.
Indiana has managed to balance its budget, and Governor Daniels' job approval ratings have rebounded nicely.
You're absolutely correct, Feisty...
Governor Daniels is smart...and apparently, his constituents agree with you.
When Mitch Daniels signed the executive order regarding collective bargaining for public employees, the employees themselves were awarded the choice of whether or not to direct their hard earned pay to union dues. Guess what? 90% or more of the employees chose NOT to. Seems those employees thought they could make better decisions about their own money than the state government or the unions. What a concept! Freedom of choice.

Spoiler Alert...
"Allah" is the same word used by Christian Arabs and Jewish Arabs in their Bible, centuries before Islam came.

Mercy
Of course, his diction may may have changed, after all he did spend time in Muslim countries.
Hi Bev,
Huh. So god and Allah are interchangeable.
So basically you are saying that when Obama is saying:
"there is no god but Allah. "
He is actually saying either:
"there is no god but God."
or,
"there is no allah but Allah."
or,
"there is no allah but God."
OK, makes liberal sense to me.
BTW: If - "Allah Akbar" - means God is Great,
does - "allah Akbar" - mean god is pretty good?
"Allah Akbar" means "take cover" to me...

Hi bob,
While appreciate you are recognizing Allah is God; I , even though I don't subscribe to any religion, don't appreciate you snakiness.
Respect, man; learn so.
FYI: it's not a liberal or rightie sense; man. That's just the way it is. Agree? God is the ultimate Supreme Being to Jews, Christians, and Muslims who all have a different name for Him.
Hello Candice,
Yep, and I got a prettygood feeling that the unions were well aware of that very fact.
Think that had anything to do with the stand they took in Wisconsin, getting the legislators out of town and whipping up the media?
The unions are agents / partners of the teachers. The unions are agents / partners of the Dem politicians (through their 93% contributions, through their election machine of phone banks, door-to-door efforts, rallies, protests, poll watching....)
Freedom and free choice - breaking up unholy alliances.
Pretty cool.
Mixed,
That was a classic.
Good one!
Bev,
What do you mean you don't subscribe to any religion? Hello? ...........liberalism?
(Too snaki?)
Hi, Bob,
I'm guessing that once the hoohah simmers down in Wisconsin, Governor Walker's approval numbers will rachet up, like Gov. Daniels did. I also anticipate the country will not revert back to the days of child labor and 1920 wages. Women will still be able to work if they want to. OSHA and similar government agencies will not shut down and leave downtrodden workers in unsafe conditions.
Mixed Bag --- That was funny. :-)
I thought you guys wanted smaller government
Pay NO attention to the 100 thousand people in Madison yesterday!
They had nothing better to do on a freezing Saturday afternoon... lol
Keep in mind Walker has already won the battle! He will however, lose the war!
Compliments of the Koch Brothers, Walker gave the best early Christmas present Democrats could ask for!
ENERGY!
The cheater with the 2.43 GPA who was thrown out of Marquette University is to dim to understand he'll be gone in Jan 2012!
That you can take to your 'precious' bank(s)! ;o)
100,000 still protesting, as it is their right to do so in this great land of the USA. The hoohah hasn't simmered down yet. But it will. Those in the union may figure out the millions of dollars spent by labor on their political activities would have been more appropriately allocated to the pension plans they've promised.
I understand 8 Democrats are facing recall petitions too. 2012 will be interesting.
Funny thing, if you look at the picture - you won't see any palm trees like the footage that was shown on Faux News...
Madison Rally Bigger Than Biggest Tea Party Rally
Police estimated up to
of the Madison rally yesterday: http://thinkprogress.org/2011/03/13/main-street-bigger-than-tea-party/
It's my understanding there is another rally scheduled for Tuesday - so NOPE... this isn't going to die down any time soon!
Fired UP and Ready to GO!
Feisty: Anyone who thinks that this is going away is delusional. This is NOT going away, the stakes are too high. Only the willfully ignorant think otherwise.
Hi Candice, myfellow Chicagoan in Bartlett, IL

I think as Feisty and newday pointed out the democrats facing recall gives even more rise to the thousands of people in this great land of the USA who are speaking up for their civil rights.
fiesty, bet the bus companies and food service vendors are happy for all the business being bused in to make up that 100000. Wonder how many non- union businesses are selling momentos to the so called masses?
Beverly - union membership a civil right? Always thought of it as a negotiated right, as in "if you don't give me what I want, you will be sorry!"
Happy Sunday Night Bev!
Wasn't it a beautiful sight to see? Not even on the tea bagger 'best' day could they draw that kind of crowd! lmao!
PS: Will you puleese check you e-mail - sent you an important msg, marked urgent! ;o)
In fact , Candice the 14 Runaways were greeted by the largest crowd in Madison as they thanked their supporters.
Senate Democrats join largest crowd of protesters in Madison
Watch it...

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say that they were bussed (notice 2 s's) in bussed?
What's your point? They bussed in the tea baggers to DC...
It's understandable you're running scared... the right wing nuts have awoken a sleeping giant and there is NO way to put them back into the bottle!
The baggers & BIG $$$ have really over played their cards on this one...
Karma really is a bitch, isn't it? lol
Off topic:
I was just over at Firedoglake.com reading an article about the firing of State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley.
It's instructive to observe progressives when the focus of their mean-spirited vitriol is President Obama...much, much nastier than the remarks made about the President by the handful of conservatives who post regularly here at First Read.
Among other things, the liberals at Firedoglake:
Compared President Obama, unfavorably(!), to President Bush on the issue of civil liberties;
Called President Obama a war criminal;
Referred to President Obama as the "Assassinator-In-Chief", "the Black Nixon", a "FRAUD", and, an "admitted torture conspirator".
Wow...
You lefties are MEAN...!
They're certainly "Fired UP" over at Firedoglake...aren't they, Bev?

That is really a shame. I am no fan of Jane Hamster or Ariana Huff and Puff. They are only interested, in my opinion, of their daily 15 minutes. The President asked them not to give the keys back to the righties and that is just what they did.
Tell me what what do you think of this?...
This whole "Teach Obama a Lesson" thing is working so perfectly, isn't it?
In Wisconsin. In Ohio. In Michigan. In Florida.
All across the country, the True Liberals' efforts to teach Barack Obama a lesson are paying off in spades. Their plan could not have worked out more perfectly. After a year of shouting to the highest heavens about how much they were disappointed in President Obama and the Democrats, after a year promising to withhold their support during the 2010 Midterm campaign and, more importantly, at the ballot box, they got their wish: Democrats stayed home in droves. Huge numbers of Democrats across the country, many of whom had voted for the very first time in 2008, got up and went to the fridge instead of the polls that late Fall Tuesday.
Yesterday, in Wisconsin, the tea party Governor and his cadre of Republican Senators figured out a way to bypass Senate Democrats' exploitation of a loophole that allowed them to put the brakes on a GOP effort to drive a stake into the heart of unions in their state. Most collective bargaining rights for teachers and public employees are now gone as if they were trash taken to the curb. Sure, Scott Walker's favorables took a beating there for awhile. If it weren't for that pesky quorum loophole, this would have all been taken care of weeks ago and his numbers wouldn't have tanked so far. But that's water under the bridge and now they are back on track. The unions have been squashed like bugs and they can go back to laughing at the protesters as they are frisked and searched and scanned just to enter a public building.
Barack Obama has really got to be smarting over that, eh? He's really paid the price now, by golly.
In Michigan yesterday, the GOP-controlled Senate passed a bill that enhances the Republican Governor's ability to declare financial emergencies in municipalities and appoint an Emergency Financial Manager (EFM). This EFM will have authority to do pretty much whatever they wish including suspending contracts with unions and other groups and even firing the existing elected officials. Rachel Maddow explained it very well the other night. There was a protest at the Capitol before the vote, of course. Over 700 people showed up, mostly union employees. Know what the Republican who introduced the bill said about the protest? "I don't think it had an effect outside of the fact we had to talk a little bit louder today." Ouch. They had to talk a little louder.
But that's not all that is coming down the pipeline in Michigan. The Republican Governor's budget taxes public and private pensions that helps the elderly. It eliminates the Earned Income Tax Credit that helps the poor. It eliminates a huge tax credit for filmmakers in Michigan, killing that job-creating baby in its crib. It eliminates tax credits for vehicle battery manufacturers, strangling a nascent industry before it even gets off the ground. It eliminates tax credits for redeveloping brownfield sites, ensuring that new industrial development will take place on undeveloped, pristine lands rather than on already-despoiled soil. Here's one: there's a union-busting bill in Congress to make Michigan a "Right to Work" state or, as the unions call it, a "Right to Work for LESS" state. All of this and businesses are getting billions of dollars in tax breaks, paid for by the elderly, the poor and whichever other down-trodden groups you can name.
"Eclectablog, what shall we do???!" I'm asked. "We can't let this stand. We must protest. Where is OFA???"
What can we do? We can't do ANYTHING! In Michigan, the Republicans control the House. The Republicans control the Senate. The Republicans control the Supreme Court. The Governor is a Republican. When we protest, they just talk a little louder. And after they get done redistricting our formerly solid-Democratic state this year, we'll be lucky if our dog catchers are Democrats.
Protest at the Capitol? Sorry, I won't waste my time.
But, I'll tell you this: President Obama has surely learned his lesson. These union-busting, pro-business moves by the Michigan GOP have got to be chapping his britches something fierce.
It's happening in Florida, too. Tea Party Governor Rick Scott is unstoppable. He's solving his state's multi-billion dollar deficit by cutting taxes on businesses by several billion dollars and he's cutting teachers' pay to do it. He's rejecting federal funds to develop high-speed rail.
Take that, Obama!
How about Ohio? The Republican Governor there is assaulting the unions, too. And the only difference between Wisconsin and these other three states is that Wisconsin Democratic Senators had a quorum loophole they could use to stop a vote. Well, they could stop it for three weeks. Then the unions got their asses handed to them anyway.
Last night Rachel Maddow said her staff's analysis shows there are Republican-sponsored union-busting bills in the Congresses if no less than SEVENTEEN states.
Ed Schultz has been on fire on MSNBC these past three weeks, hasn't he? Nothing like pure, unadulterated union-busting by Republicans to get old Ed fired up and ready to go. A let's not pretend Ed didn't have a plan for this all along, right? Remember this from him last fall?
Un-American? Hell no, Ed! That's as American as it gets. Hell, it's practically Republican, it's so American! Create a problem that you yourself can benefit from. Help make sure the GOP takes control by helping suppress the Democratic vote then watch your rating positively SOAR when you get to be on television almost non-stop when they start crushing unions like cockroaches.
Man, you sure showed them, Ed. Obama has really got to be feeling this now, what with all those union people getting crushed and taxes being cut on the backs of the poor and the elderly.
And, let's make no mistake, it's not just Ed who is teaching a lesson to Obama. Here's part of an email I got recently from a friend, a liberal who is disappointed in the President. I had reached out to him to help us start organizing in our area so that we're ready to really hit the ground hard for the 2012 elections. He was very active in 2008 so I had hoped that he and others in our area would be eager to help get Dems elected again in 2012 considering that they control everything in our state right now. Hah. Boy was I ever wrong:
Feisty, I checked the other day didn't see it. I'm sorry.
Will check again.
beverly
They don't wear little brown 'booties' for nuttin - Bev! ;o)
PS: Let me know...
Feisty,
I just sent you a reply.
What do I think, Bev?
I think you should have posted it at Firedoglake.
It won't have any effect whatsoever here at First Read...you're preaching to the choir here.
This is the cult-of-personality site for worshipping President Obama.
They ain't buying that over at Firedoglake, Bev.
They'll give you a run for your money.
Hello, Beverly – Chicago is a beautiful city. I’m ready for summer though -- at the lake front, at the festivals in Grant Park.
Yes, those protesting are exercising their rights. Freedom to assemble. Freedom to voice an opposite opinion. That’s what makes our country great.
You believe that collective bargaining is a civil right? I’m not sure about that. How about the Right to Work? The right to choose?
I believe the right to vote is a civil right. Voters chose Governor Walker. Voters chose the Republicans who passed the legislation. Voters who responded to recent polls chose to side against the unions regarding bargaining 49% to 45%.
Mixed Bag
What do I think, Bev?
I think you should have posted it at Firedoglake.
I would not necessarily say they are the cult-of-personality site for worshipping President Obama.
I think they are young, fired up and just don't realize how they are fracturing the message. I suppose they took him literally to take his feet to the fire by slandering him.
In fact they seem to have amnesia. This President has done more than other since FDR!!!
Selection Bias? PolitiFact Rates Republican Statements as False at 3 Times the Rate of Democrats
http://blog.lib.umn.edu/cspg/smartpolitics/2011/02/selection_bias_politifact_rate.php
Even politifact recognizes it premature to call some of his promise broken; rather than stalled by the Blue dog Democrats and obstructionist GOP/T-Bagger for instance, on Wisconsin.

Thanks, I'll post it.
Oh well, even on a Sunday you have the B@t Sh!t Bachmann trolls on MSNBC.
Bev-
Just for clarification...
I said that THIS is the cult-of-personality site for worshipping President Obama...Firedoglake most definitely IS NOT!
lol
Bev and Feisty,
Good Stuff.
Thanks
Job1
Good stuff, Bev and Feisty.
Thanks
Thank you; You're welcome
I like you are am always willing to add to the mix.
Really, Carrie, "abhor"?
Prose is getting kind of purple there, is it not?
I live in Indiana and a lot of the people here including some republicans and democrats I know say no way would they vote for Daniels. He has sold our state out. Everything is resourced out of our state. We have so many people out of work and the stimulas was used for the wrong things here.
"A lot of people"? Well, I guess 29% is a lot of people.
Not as many as 68%, though. So, since more than twice as many people in your state approve of the job Daniels is doing as disapprove, I'm thinking your disapproval is pretty irrelevant.
Thanks for sharing, though.
patriotic mom:
Ignore no joe aka Donna. She has not written a positive post since her moniker was "Donna". Besides, her favorite all time hero is Mitch Daniels. Guess she likes short, boring men with the nickname "the blade". Living in Lincroft, NJ she is totally clueless about what life is like with Daniels as a governor. Donna happens to be totally clueless with respect to all her comments.
You cannot seem to ignore me, though, Ron.
And, by the way, "way back when" I changed my moniker because some nitwit appropriated it in order to post drivel over my name, I stated exactly that.
Kind of hard to post pro- Obama dreck over this handle.
Do keep it up. Every ad hominem attack from you diminishes any any all points you make.
And Daniels approval is still north of 60%.
Donna has never met a 'poll' she won't spin on...
Think she's p!ssed now? Wait until her new found 'hero' get's his a@@ kicked in the primaries! lol
Good morning Ron Indiana
Guess she likes short, boring men with the nickname "the blade". Living in Lincroft, NJ she is totally clueless about what life is like with Daniels as a governor. Donna happens to be totally clueless with respect to all her comments.
I so endorse your comment. The faux Dr. No aka Donna and selfish redhead doesn't even realize her comment defines her as the irrelevant one since she can't vote in Indiana. Nor does it stand to reason that she has the ability to change nearly 68% of public opinion.
Donna: You admitted your first name and location. Good start. If you would really like for me to stop "bugging you", all you have to do is admit on First Thoughts that you did not tell the truth about having a doctorate in economics or anything else for that matter. Once you do that, I have little reason to call you a FRAUD. So, its up to you, tell the truth or live with the lie. Credibility is a big deal.
No Joe---you could have the screen name "Ray of Sunshine" and after reading one of your posts, everyone would know your opinion of the President. You are certainly within your rights to disagree with the President and his policies but your criticisms on points that are generally accepted by reasonable people makes me wonder what your true agenda is.
Ron,
There is a harassment code. You ARE violating it. It is easy to document and it is easy to e-mail the appropriate people.
Grow up, be a man. Either challenge no joe on the content of her comments, or ignore her and move on to your back patting.
Let it go, Ron.
Having spent the last 15 years in Indiana, I can tell you that 68% (possibly more) of the state's population use the phrases "I seen", I knowed", and "I heared" on a regular basis, too. They are woefully ignorant and proud of it. The inbreeding boggles the mind, and they're proud of that, too.
The last time I was at the state house with a group of disability advocates, "your Man Mitch" was too occupied with getting a massage to greet them despite the fact that they were there under the auspices of the Governor's Planning Council for People with Disabilities. The fact that the one...yes, ONE...wheelchair that was in the state house for use by visitors was missing a wheel while the big guy wasn't missing his massage told me all I needed to know about him.
Sorry, but approval by 68% of the folks in Indiana is a good reason not to vote for someone in and of itself.
Wow, Ron...
There's almost a "stalker" quality to the intensity of your personal comments about no jo...
Not sure where you're going with this...
Is it simply frustration at your inability to rebut her on substance?
Man up, eh?
Does that mean you are stalking Ron?
RON - 2 choices
1. put down the computer and let it go;
2.get help, from a professional.
Having read your posts for many months it is very clear your are extremely passive aggressive, and likely lack any real self worth.
And in light of your post above - just walk away. Your are either obsessed or just broken.
Can we expect anything less from the double standards crowd NDD?
Interesting that if Donna is such a force to be reckoned with, why then do the right wingers feel compelled to come to her 'defense'!
NJNB is a fraud & a habitual liar... and anyone that's spent any time on this board is well aware of that!
Chihuahua fiesty - still dragging and still yapping I see! Double standards? You and other FR libs do show us how it is done. So sorry that we have disrupted your idyllic life here on FR. Perhaps you need to take your comedy show on tour.
Sorry darling, been here long before you arrived and will be here long after you're gone! So continue to wish in one hand and cr@p in the other - see which one fills up first! ;o)
PS: I LOVE having you & your ilk around - it reminds real Americans what low lifes the tea baggers are!
Please, do keep on posting will ya?
Stop, Feisty...
You're making us blush...
:-)
Bag Boy - you have to posesess a conscience in order to blush - but, thanks for playing!
Thanks, bob, Mixed Bag, and American.
Let me tell you a little story- when I was in fifth grade, one of the "mean girls" overheard my grandmother calling me by hermit name for me. Seeking to embarrass me, she started calling me by that name- with, of course, the same level derogatory slant these supposed adults use.
How could I be embarrassed by the name my grandma called me? I was not. So, it stuck, and ALL of my friends, boyfriends, and even some teachers called me by that affectionate name.
I never hid the fact that I changed my moniker to thwart those who, unable to rebut me, used my name to post drivel. Is Ron trying to intimidate me? Perhaps- he is certainly trying to imply that he knows where I live. With the number of people in law enforcement in my family- well,, as Clint Eastwood said, make my day. As to hhis calling ME a fraud- I leave it to readers of this blog to decide for themselves if his posts sound even remotely like the ravings of a PhD. In psychology. Suffice to say, if it IS true, I feel very sorry for his patients.
As to Fiesty and the rest of the fifth grade bullies- they had no power over me then, and they sure as heck have no power over me now.
Thanks for the back up, guys. I appreciate it- and will do the same for you.
As to Ron and the rest of the regulars, you RAN away from being outed like an old broad who just crapped her pants!
Gee... Donna, therein lies another one of your lies - as you said you had me on ignore! Stiill bitter aren't you, you old bat, about never being accepted into the 'kool kids club' I see!
Keep chocking on your jealous juice - it suits you well!
NO matter how high you swing your legs around you precious poll - you're still a habitual LIAR and a FRAUD!
The sooner you realize that TRUTH has power the better off you'll be!
Then again, you wouldn't recognize the truth if it bit you in your fat a@@!
Wow, Feisty-
Just when I'm convinced that you couldn't be more vicious if you tried...
You kick your game up a notch.
Impressive.
I can't wait for your next lecture on civility.
You really are a misanthrope, aren't you?
As to the harassment- Ron, let me tell you, in my family I number over a dozen law enforcement officers, two superior court judges, a couple of mayors.. .and a governor.
Try tracking me down.
Well, this is becoming more ridiculous by the day. Every time I think I will not see something more absurd on First Read...I'm wrong. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.....in 3.....2.....1...we're on!
Feisty
Might take your own advice, Feisty.
Aren't you supposed to be "above it all" Candice?
Just trying to help, NewDay.
Which you are incapable of.
Of which , she may be incapable.
Thanks, Paul! If you have spring where you are, would you send it my way?
Daniels is the right man at the right time- much like Reagan.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/146525/Americans-Message-States-Cut-Dont-Tax-Borrow.aspx
Explains a lot about Daniel's sky high approval ratings. By the way, for those who are interested, take a look at the numbers for and against curtailing public employees' collective bargaining rights.
Funny how when the pool is not loaded with union members, more people favor favor curtailing those rights than do not. Quinnipiac had roughly the same results- but, of course, they, unlike NBC and CBS did not wildly over sample union households.
Kind of makes you believe they might have done it on purpose, does it not?
I can tell you don't live in Indiana.
Ten Things the GOP does not want you to know about Regan
http://thinkprogress.org/2011/02/05/reagan-centennial/
ThinkProgress has compiled a list of the top 10 things conservatives rarely mention when talking about President Reagan:
1. Reagan was a serial tax raiser. As governor of California, Reagan “signed into law the largest tax increase in the history of any state up till then.” Meanwhile, state spending nearly doubled. As president, Reagan “raised taxes in seven of his eight years in office,” including four times in just two years. As former GOP Senator Alan Simpson, who called Reagan “a dear friend,” told NPR, “Ronald Reagan raised taxes 11 times in his administration — I was there.” “Reagan was never afraid to raise taxes,” said historian Douglas Brinkley, who edited Reagan’s memoir. Reagan the anti-tax zealot is “false mythology,” Brinkley said.
2. Reagan nearly tripled the federal budget deficit. During the Reagan years, the debt increased to nearly $3 trillion, “roughly three times as much as the first 80 years of the century had done altogether.” Reagan enacted a major tax cut his first year in office and government revenue dropped off precipitously. Despite the conservative myth that tax cuts somehow increase revenue, the government went deeper into debt and Reagan had to raise taxes just a year after he enacted his tax cut. Despite ten more tax hikes on everything from gasoline to corporate income, Reagan was never able to get the deficit under control.
3. Unemployment soared after Reagan’s 1981 tax cuts. Unemployment jumped to 10.8 percent after Reagan enacted his much-touted tax cut, and it took years for the rate to get back down to its previous level. Meanwhile, income inequality exploded. Despite the myth that Reagan presided over an era of unmatched economic boom for all Americans, Reagan disproportionately taxed the poor and middle class, but the economic growth of the 1980′s did little help them. “Since 1980, median household income has risen only 30 percent, adjusted for inflation, while average incomes at the top have tripled or quadrupled,” the New York Times’ David Leonhardt noted.
4. Reagan grew the size of the federal government tremendously. Reagan promised “to move boldly, decisively, and quickly to control the runaway growth of federal spending,” but federal spending “ballooned” under Reagan. He bailed out Social Security in 1983 after attempting to privatize it, and set up a progressive taxation system to keep it funded into the future. He promised to cut government agencies like the Department of Energy and Education but ended up adding one of the largest — the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, which today has a budget of nearly $90 billion and close to 300,000 employees. He also hiked defense spending by over $100 billion a year to a level not seen since the height of the Vietnam war.
5. Reagan did little to fight a woman’s right to chose. As governor of California in 1967, Reagan signed a bill to liberalize the state’s abortion laws that “resulted in more than a million abortions.” When Reagan ran for president, he advocated a constitutional amendment that would have prohibited all abortions except when necessary to save the life of the mother, but once in office, he “never seriously pursued” curbing choice.
6. Reagan was a “bellicose peacenik.” He wrote in his memoirs that “[m]y dream…became a world free of nuclear weapons.” “This vision stemmed from the president’s belief that the biblical account of Armageddon prophesied nuclear war — and that apocalypse could be averted if everyone, especially the Soviets, eliminated nuclear weapons,” the Washington Monthly noted. And Reagan’s military buildup was meant to crush the Soviet Union, but “also to put the United States in a stronger position from which to establish effective arms control” for the the entire world — a vision acted out by Regean’s vice president, George H.W. Bush, when he became president.
7. Reagan gave amnesty to 3 million undocumented immigrants. Reagan signed into law a bill that made any immigrant who had entered the country before 1982 eligible for amnesty. The bill was sold as a crackdown, but its tough sanctions on employers who hired undocumented immigrants were removed before final passage. The bill helped 3 million people and millions more family members gain American residency. It has since become a source of major embarrassment for conservatives.
8. Reagan illegally funneled weapons to Iran. Reagan and other senior U.S. officials secretly sold arms to officials in Iran, which was subject to a an arms embargo at the time, in exchange for American hostages. Some funds from the illegal arms sales also went to fund anti-Communist rebels in Nicaragua — something Congress had already prohibited the administration from doing. When the deals went public, the Iran-Contra Affair, as it came to be know, was an enormous political scandal that forced several senior administration officials to resign.
9. Reagan vetoed a comprehensive anti-Apartheid act. which placed sanctions on South Africa and cut off all American trade with the country. Reagan’s veto was overridden by the Republican-controlled Senate. Reagan responded by saying “I deeply regret that Congress has seen fit to override my veto,” saying that the law “will not solve the serious problems that plague that country.”
10. Reagan helped create the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden. Reagan fought a proxy war with the Soviet Union by training, arming, equipping, and funding Islamist mujahidin fighters in Afghanistan. Reagan funneled billions of dollars, along with top-secret intelligence and sophisticated weaponry to these fighters through the Pakistani intelligence service. The Talbian and Osama Bin Laden — a prominent mujahidin commander — emerged from these mujahidin groups Reagan helped create, and U.S. policy towards Pakistan remains strained because of the intelligence services’ close relations to these fighters. In fact, Reagan’s decision to continue the proxy war after the Soviets were willing to retreat played a direct role in Bin Laden’s ascendancy.
The man is dead. Time to let it go Navy.
Shameful, but expected I guess.
navy - muffintop is right, even if he wasn't dead he isn't the one sitting in the oval office.
As for your dribble, so what? Although I do see that obama took a great interest in reading reagans biography over christmas.
Helpful hint - spell & grammar checker REALLY are your friend? lmfao!
How do you ever expect ANY ONE to take you seriously?
I love the attitude that while the man is in office he is above suspicion or investigation, while he is an ex-president he should only be revered along with being allowed to hide his presidential records and documents and argue, with bias on his side, against freedom of information act disclosure, hide his worst acts behind classifications which will keep them secret for 75 years, and when he dies from the Alzheimers that many of us were certain he was suffering from while still President, people like you say stupid sh!t like,"The man is dead, he's not here to defend himself, let it go." You would have cried like the babies you are if we had confronted his falsehoods in "realtime" and now you want to help preserve those falsehoods in the present even though that only serves the liars of the past.

That's kinda like lambasting me for taking a sneak peak at the FEAR CHANNEL aka FOX NEWS, aka the ARM of the REPUBLICAN/T-Bagger Party Campaign HEADQUARTERS; or peaking at a rightie website; american.
In order to know where you are going you need to know the past. Ditto the present.
By the way, why are you a regular on FR which you consider to be leftist?
It is a constant source of amusement to me that calling out a right wing, incompetent President for being exactly that gets only this response: He isn't President, how dare you blame him for anything? Do you think that each Presidency happens in a vacuum? That the damage done by someone like Reagan or the Bush boys don't resonate for years? This from the "take personal responsibility crowd". What that means is someone else must always take the blame for the ditch they drove us into.
HOLLER! They are nothing more than rabble rousers, which is why No ONE takes them seriously... lmfao
Hi Navy,
Ten Things the GOP does not want you to know about Regan
Some good facts to know. Thanks
collective bargaining is a civil right?
Yes indeed it is; Candice.
Unions are planning rallies across the country on April 4 – the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, the 43rd anniversary of King's death.
I'm sure you must know about his work in the civil rights movement? It's a fight for middle class and the rights of hard working people.
Selma did for voting rights what collective bargaining fight is doing today; ditto it for Birmingham for public accommodations. This IS about civil rights Candice.
Q: What does collective bargaining mean?
A: Collective bargaining means good faith negotiations between the authorized representative(s) elected by eligible employees in each bargaining unit and the employer to produce a Memorandum of Understanding (sometimes referred to a Contract) covering wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
http://www.umbi.umd.edu/human-resources/collective-bargaining-process-faq.php
Unions prevent unfair labor practices such as
Wage slavery
unsafe working conditions
long work hours and weekends
being fired for taking off if sick
making children work
either face poverty or starvation
Those are the basic civil rights the Republicans don't want a vote on.
Read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair about the meatpacking plants of the Chicago, unpleasant living and working conditions, and hopelessness prevalent among the working class, which is contrasted with the deeply-rooted corruption on the part of those in power. Sinclair's observations of the state of turn-of-the-century in the early-20th century.
If voting is a right why did the right-wing Wisconsin polti-tricksters vote in less than 10 minutes, illegally at that, without allowing democrats their civil rights, the right to vote?
Bev - of course one should learn from the past, but shouldn't dwell on it as you and many other FR posters seem to enjoy doing so much. I don't listen/watch fox opinion channels for the same reason i don't read think progress or any other web site whose words right out of the gate says the (R or L) are wrong and we are the right voice for America. A more balanced approach will get my attention.
You are all so busy trying to prove that the right is so wrong that you have forgotten how to carry on any type of balanced conversation to lead America out of its present difficulties. The economics of the 80's and the late 90's dot com bust were different than the 2007-8 recession but all you see is the left does no harm and the right is evil. That government does no wrong but business and banks are evil.
Newday - and yet here we are today, it is all the republicans fault all the while you make it sound like the liberals shirked in their duty to the American citizens by doing nothing, that their was no bipartisanship legislative actions. Rather amusing that you believe this. No wonder you and other FR libs are afraid of discussing issues, but hone in on personalites or percieved personal features.
Fiesty - Yes, I occasionally rabble rouse, after all, look at the rabble like yourself, newday and bev that so effectively squeal out.
To my three FR sweeties - Why do I post on FR? Actually I post at many different newsvine blogs as the subject interests me whereas you all only seem to post on FR. If you want to deny me my first amendment rights come out and specifically say it.
I have no interest in why you post on FR. I rarely read what you write. I can only stand so much sophomoric thought in one day. So, don't give yourself airs.

Excuse me, citing the past as the result of cause and effect is not dwelling in the past. It's a method of fixing the problem. It's you righties who constantly find your thrills resurrecting Former President Ronald Reagan as a saint on that glorious hill in D.C. Then there were those bulletin boards popping up with pictures of GW Bush asking "do you miss me yet"?
See...

And that LIE that this un-convicted felon who killed thousands of Americans and Iraqis started democracy in the Middle East.
A little perspective.. think progress is not all that opinionated since it references ACTUAL documents you find cross linked at other sites; including the government and right wings.
The comments are more leftist, but there are righties
Beverly,
I am quite familiar with and have read "The Jungle." A powerful novel, and very illustrative of why unions were needed and formed in the 20's and 30's. Now, 81 years later, the unions are corrupt. They no longer care about the workers. They care about power and money. Kind of like the corporations Upton Sinclair spoke out against.
The Democrats should have exercised their legislative duty (and right, I suppose) and voted. Had they been there doing their jobs instead of hiding in Rockford, they could have voted, as was their right.
Slave wages, child labor, and unsafe working conditions? A little overly dramatic, don't you think? Do you really believe states will replace their teachers with 12 year olds at $5 a hour. And the last time I was in a class room I don't remember any heavy machinery that would risk causing teachers or administrators harm.
bev - cause and effect??
Citing reagan or bush1 or bush2 as the cause of our current recession (the effect) begs the question of what was clintons role and what was the democratic congressional role in all this from 1980 to 2011? You have also failed to factor in American business and consumer demands as well. IE. you have not proved what you call "cause" (republican presidents) as being the "effect" (2008 recession).
Method of fixing the problem?? Not hardly, since your argument only focuses (dwells) on the past, you offer no path to a solution. Nor do you offer any type of acknowledgement that as times change so do conditions (reminded of this from Dennis of Ohio, btw). After all, the current recession was not limited to America alone.
Your unabashed hatred for bush really comes thru on your "un-convicted felon" comment and only reaffirms your extreme bias, especially in light of no criminal charges being filed against him.
Did like the picture of the bill board though, haven't personally seen one yet, but I understand photoshop can do some amazing things.
St ronnie? Met him and talked with him in 1979, looked like he would put his pants on the same way obama or I would, one leg at a time. BTW - why did obama take such an interest in reading reagans biography?
BTW- thanks for the discussion.
newday (post 4.13) - So kind of you to illustrate your vast capabilities.
Candice - nicely made points, although I believe that many forget government regs that negate many of the reasons unions were important in the past but not now. Osha, ADA, workmans comp, UI benefits, etc.
Mitch Daniels was George W Bush's first budget director. During his time as budget director the federal government went from having the largest surplus in US history to having the largest deficit in US history. And he did all that in just 29 months. Now fiscal hawks like him because they "see the Indiana governor as a serious and knowledgeable foe of the federal deficit." He's certainly knowledgeable about the federal deficit, he helped build the deficits, but he's never shown himself to be a foe of federal deficits. He may talk a good game, but please keep in mind what he actually did when he was in the federal government and actually had a chance to control deficits.
It is incredible how the "teabaggers" rewrite the history of their candidates, I am Providence. Thanks for posting this, it is a good reminder. I will bet you, however, that it will be ignored by the Daniels worshippers. They are a bit cultish.
Gee girls, "a large surplus"?? How soon you rewrite your own history on clinton leaving the dot com bust, the 2000 recession and 9/11. And to think of all the liberals that supported both wars and spent $$$ just as fast as the republicans.
Dwell in the past all you want, but your hero obama is running up quite a tab himself. Interesting that obama is playing low key about his proposed $70+ billion cuts each year while the republicans have only targeted $61 billion. And how the senate democrats squeal! lol.
Funny how you write 9/11, but you fail to write it as SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. Bush "won" the election on November 4, 2000. During the transition phase before Jan 21, 2001 Bush was being advised that Al-Qaeda was going to be his biggest problem in his first term and that Richard Clarke, the ANTI-Terrorism czar should stay on and be elevated to a Cabinet position. Bush, as usual, much like the PDB of August 6. 2001 "Osama Determined to Attack Within USA", ignore the advice that he was given.
gee paul, didn't clinton have a shot at osama in the late 90's and what intell was given prior to 9/11 that gave credance to a terrorist attack other than the failed attempt in 1993 on the world trade center?
Just as many other Americans do, my frst responce to the words "911" is to the attack on the world trade center not local emergency services.
If you want to argue that it happened on bushes watch, fine. The counter point would be that the general consensus was that there was no serious and credible source of intell about an impending attack. Or do you insist that bush secretly planned the attack?
american-2051576
gee paul, didn't clinton have a shot at osama in the late 90's and what intell was given prior to 9/11 that gave credance to a terrorist attack other than the failed attempt in 1993 on the world trade center?
Yes, american Clinton did. The difference, though, is Clinton tried the Bushes didn't.
Do you remember this interview?
The CIA and the FBI refused to certify that bin Laden was responsible while I was there. They refused to certify. So that meant I would've had to send a few hundred Special Forces in helicopters and refuel at night.
Even the 9/11 Commission didn't do that. Now, the 9/11 Commission was a political document, too. All I'm asking is, anybody who wants to say I didn't do enough, you read Richard Clarke's book.
WALLACE: Do you think you did enough, sir?
CLINTON: No, because I didn't get him.
WALLACE: Right.
CLINTON: But at least I tried. That's the difference in me and some, including all the right-wingers who are attacking me now. They ridiculed me for trying. They had eight months to try. They did not try. I tried.
So I TRIED and FAILED. When I failed, I left a comprehensive anti-terror strategy and the best guy in the country, Dick Clarke, who got demoted.
http://bsalert.com/artsearch.php?fn=2&as=2627&dt=1
interesting bev, but what is your point? Paul implied that bush should have taken action against bin laden and I reminded him that clinton had a shot as well. With no support from the FBI or CIA what choice did clinton really have? Clinton said...
Rather telling on foreign policy when trying to resolve terrorist activities when hard evidence is lacking. Much like what bush probably found out about terrorist activities prior to 9/11.
Did like this outburst by clinton...
Any comments on bringing up clinton on criminal charges based on this admission? Especially in light of you saying...
Watched oprahs interview with bush the other day and oprahs attempts to draw him out. Some rather interesting insights on what responsibilities a president has to contend with, much like some of the responces clinton gave to matthews.
Is it really a point of debate as to whether SEPTEMBER 11th 2001 took place on Bush's watch?
By the way, killing Osama bin -Laden in 2000 or 2001 was not the way to stop 9/11 from being accomplished. You've had 9 years to review our "failures" in uncovering and circumventing Al-Qaeda's plans for September 2001. Had Richard Clarke been made a cabinet member, he likely would have been able to "shake the tree" of intelligence in August and CROWLEY's memo would have led him to Moussoui's computer.
no joe, no bo, nj
Daniels is the right man at the right time- much like Reagan.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/146525/Americans-Message-States-Cut-Dont-Tax-Borrow.aspx
Donna how could you ignore this analysis of the poll?....
Nevertheless, more Americans favor layoffs than favor pay and benefit cuts, perhaps because the Gallup question doesn't specify the magnitude of each. While 62% of Americans favor layoffs, fewer than half, 43%, favor cutting state workers' pay and benefits and 54% are opposed.
I find it ironic that people like you were Soooo outraged at tax cuts to Wall street, oil companies that incidentally paid no taxes, and the banks; all of which gave no productive output to this economy; now want to victimize hard working people!!!
How much more of yourselves do people like you need to sell?
Ok beverly - read the poll so lets go and layoff state workers, interesting that the bottom line of the gallup poll was...
Then their are the numbers you left out...
http://www.gallup.com/poll/146525/Americans-Message-States-Cut-Dont-Tax-Borrow.aspx
Yes bev it is ironic that you pose the following...
How insensitive you are to the functions of wall st, oil companies and banks. By all means let them pay more taxes we don't need the likes of them here in America. I am sure that if you work you take public transportation. Let's not forget the RR and truckers who deliver food and consumer goods to your area merchants. OPPS, so sorry no oil companies probably will mean no fuel to run the transportation.. Hmmmm, well wall st is also not needed as it functions to raise capital for business expansion and job growth. We all know that is so terribly wrong, right? Those evil banks, loaning money to private citizens for home loans, autos and other consumer type goods. Gee bev lets not forget banks and small business. Loans made to meet payroll, expansion, needed repairs , etc.
Such evil and yet you use many of their services every day. BTW - I keep on hearing about all these corporations not paying taxes but no one bothers to site either the source of such info or loinks to the specific companies annual reports.
american-2051576
I keep on hearing about all these corporations not paying taxes but no one bothers to site either the source of such info or loinks to the specific companies annual reports.
Okay, look at this...
ExxonMobil is the same huge oil company that has had
enough money to provide a $398 million
retirement package to its outgoing
CEO, Lee Raymond, just a few years
ago. They made more money than any
corporation in the history of the world
last year. They did not pay any Federal
taxes. In fact, they got a huge refund
from the Federal Government. And
some years ago this particular corporation
paid out $398 million in retirement
package for its CEO

This article will look at the Koch Brothers and their company, Koch Industries, oil barons who are manipulating a rabble of confused individuals in the bid to rid the country of Obama's supposed socialist vision and lower taxes. If the Tea Partiers knew that Koch Industries does not pay corporate income tax, might they reconsider the money they receive from the Koch brothers when they themselves are taxed both by Democracts and Republicans alike? Ignorance truly is bliss for the Tea Party, or Reactionaries, as I like to call them.

Good night
Oh, one more thing do really mean the jobs are here instead of overseas?
Beverly - thanks for your effort, but what you or I may consider "fair share" is meaningless because the government has passed regulations determining how income can be reported and deducted.. Perhaps you should be looking into the options of a flat tax or VAT to change how funds are collected.
With regards to your post 6.2....
Nice chart bev, as the amounts listed all carry the moniker of all income taxes, sales based and other taxes exxon-mobile paid in the following years
$78,626,000,000 in 2009... $116,261,000,000 in 2008... $105,683,000,000 in 2007
Sure glad my tax return didn't have such numbers to report as deductions. A far more telling number would be exxonmobiles total revenue, less all taxes, fees, liabilities and other reported expenses would give net profit. Divide the net profit by total revenue would give one a better picture of how a company is doing.
Quarter to quarter profit increases may sound impressive, but do not indicate a true picture of a companies financial health. As for CEO's salaries and bonuses I believe the companies board determines this. Naturally the stock holders can probably vote to change such things..
Regardless,, in the 70's congressional action was taken on an "windfall profits" for oil producers, if such conditions apply today, I have no problem in supporting such an action as long as it is based on net profit/total revenues as the determining criteria.
As far as the koch bros, so what? If they are breaking any laws, prosecute them. If they are hiding $$$ from the IRS, prosecute them. You and I might not like how they spend their $$$, so why not lobby them to change their funding choices?
Jobs are wherever you can find them and qualify for them. Advanced skill sets are just additional door openers and many have also found out that they may also be door closers if an employer considers one to be over qualified.
I am with you. I am glad he can't run for Governor again. I would never vote for him and sure don't want him at the speaking or running our country.
Why was adopting Daylight Savings Time deemed controversial? Just curious.
We are right on the edge of the eastern timezone and the majority of the state borders the central time zone. My man Mitch wanted to be on the eastern timezone so he could be on the same time as his buddies in washington. This was not a good move for the people of Indiana. The way it was we did not change times and if we need to change times we should have gone to central time not eastern. This would have been better for the citizens of our state. Now in the fall, winter and spring our kids are waiting in the dark for their school buses.
Eastern Time Zone is the only move I've liked by Daniels. Late summer evenings with some light out and the grill going is fine with me.
Okay- that is one I do not agree with. I LOATHE daylight savi gs time.
Any mother, or animal parent, does.
Not to mention those of us too busy to have an hour taken from us.
How about a poll on that one? I will bet a dollar to a donut it is a loser.
And I will vote for whoever vows to abolish it.
Oh, good grief. I just gave Obama the one thing he was looking for- something to run on.
I advise against taking nojo's bet
she's a famous poll dancer so has plenty of those ones; but really should lay off the doughnuts,...just sayin'.
MSNBC passive-aggressive 'snark' meter rating: 2 snarks. You must be hanging around with Chris Matthews.
snark 1: 'abhor'.....
"But social conservatives abhor Daniels' statement that the nation's fiscal crisis warrants a Republican "truce"....
snark 2: "he agrees with the policy proposals most dear to social conservatives' hearts."
Well bless your snooty progressive heart, to condescend to conservatives and our 'hearts'...
There's no way an intelligent, Ivy league guy's going to get the GOP nod. They demand dim, firey ideologues who are barely literate!
Indy,
As a liberal, you’re probably not aware of this or have never been told. Three degrees doesn’t change your IQ. There lies the problem with liberals. They start off a conversation by saying I have a PhD, a signal to the other party that he is automatically smarter and a force to be reckoned with. LOL
Well, in fact, when a PhD speaks to any republican... it is a wasted effort.
You can lead a mentally retarded horse to water, but cannot assume he will not pee in it.

Would you admit it is so true in regards to Michelle Bachmann?
In addition to be a tax attorney having a non functional brain; she is also a clueless liar as I stated in post #1.2 .-
I'd say the public demand Michelle Bachmann be given a No Lie MRI for conscious cognitive processing.
Are you aware she deliberately lied, PERHAPS, about her getting an LLM in Tax Law from the College of William and Mary?
From Michele Bachmann's Wikipedia profile:
Ummm, that would be true except ...
Here is William & Mary's Law School phone number:
(757) 221-3800
If you want, call them and find out ...
=============================================
Should we...
a) demand to see Michelle Bachmann's birth certificate since that degree is for foreigners.
b) have her submit to a No Lie MRI
c) both
I'd say both, from my point of view, because she is a sick puppy.
Beverly, that is AMAZING! Be interesting to find out what Bachmann has to say about it. Maybe she THOUGHT she was at William and Mary, just like she thought that Concord and Lexington were in NH.
Go for it bev, all this time and no one vetted her credentials??? not even....
http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=B001256
Simply scandalous I say, simply scandalous!
You libbers are so funny! A Phd means what? Communications skills, ability to thnk outside the box, lead a nation? Would all you libs care to post all the past presidents who had a PhD or the highest degree obtained?
must be the same 'vetters' that allowed President Obama to get elected. You'd think the birthers would get over it; but no,...I've seen no less than a dozen references this week alone. Yep,...good times.
PS. I'm not sure a bio presented by a member of congress is vetted.
Well, American
You can call William & Mary's Law School phone number if you want, to really vet her:
(757) 221-3800
But the difference, however, is you'll find out she was lying on her resumé.
At least Hawaii says if you pay $100 you can have your own embossed birth certificate of the President soon.
http://gawker.com/#!5745413/get-your-own-copy-of-obamas-birth-certificate-for-just-100
The President was vetted and he didn't lie Bachmann did. Some crazies don't trust their government because they wear tin foil hats; I guess.
If bachman lied why hasn't any left wing media outlets spread it across the web in banner headlines?
Just think bev, you could be the one to first trumpet this across the web, the first to alert all of the major media outlets to this fact, mark and dom would shower you with praise for your due diligence and single minded desire to seek out the truth.
I will await national media coverage and publication of the facts relating to bachmans education history of this and even congradulate you on FR.. It will be interesting to read the NYT or washington post clips on this.
THe MSM wants to continue perpetrating the myth that Bachmann could be a viable Presidential candidate. They won't "run with this story" until the time arrives to drop her down a notch. The media benefits from the build up and the tear down cycle. DUH!
I have lived in Indiana for the past 13 years. I have actually had a few meetings and dinners with Mitch before and during his term in office. Honestly he is a nice guy and I really like him as a person. However I dont think I could ever ellect him to president. His choices as Governor have been poor, and this state is in very bad shape. I value his bold stands on a few issues, but he doesnt make smart decisions when it comes to running a state. I voted for him, and was one of his biggest supporters. I still even stand behind him because that is the right thing to do. But could he run this country? I honestly dont think so. then again I could be wrong.
Many people feel the same way about Obama. Nice guy, nice family, but President?
Hes great for the rich and if you have been having dinners with him you must be too. But unfortunately the majority of people in Indiana are not rich and some 16 to 20 % don't have jobs. He has run our state into the ground just like he did when he ran the Bush budget.
Oh no Hanover I am no rich, I am actually out of work, disabled and unable to get help from the state because I dont meet their requirements for being disabled. I merely had dinner with him because he was campaigning in my city and I was the manager of a local store and he was trying to get votes. Please dont assume what you dont know.
Anybody know what Mitch Daniels' approval ratings in Indiana are?
Is he popular with a majority of his constituents?
That's kinda where the rubber hits the road, isn't it?
Anyone...?
Wow Mitch, you would have ambition to become president of this country, after your job performance as Indiana governor, taking away collective bargarning rights from public workers, privatizing everything you can of Indiana, to save money for the state, hum? he has ruin Indiana, but is one thing the people will not have worry about Mitch Daniels becoming president to sell out this country.
68% approval rating. 29% disapproval rating.
I guess you find yourself in the minority, right?
Mum?? Does that mean he needs his mommy to tell him what to do?
This guy belongs in prison.
I have lived in Indiana all my life, and Mitch is by far the worst Governer I have experienced. He balanced the budget by selling a Highway (I-69) to foriegn investors for $3.2 billion, with their return for their investment (toll booths) exceeding $40 billion. His very first act as Governor was to abolish workers rights. I recommend anyone to log on to IN.gov/state employees to see how much Mitch respects public employees. Do they have a right to a lunch time? NO! That is considered a priviledge the state can offer, but isn't required to. Can the state terminate your employment for no reason? YES! If your supervisor assigns you work that is dangerous and you refuse because of safety concerns can the state fire you? YES! The only rights state employees have is what the Federal government extends.(min. wage, discrimination, sexual harrassment, etc.) The stimulus package the federal government passed to put unemployed people back to work, Mitch used to operate state parks, state forests, ect., by not hiring the seasonal people that usually does these jobs (result: making them unemployed) and using stimulus money for operations. Then he had the audacity to criticize President O'Bama for the stimulus package! These are just a few things this guy has done to Indiana. Run for President? LOL

Toll booth lobbyist probably are abundant in Indiana; I'll bet.

That's asinine with food you don't produce energy. Without energy you don't produce work.
Did he reject high speed rails? High speed rails areas could mean $19 billion in increased annual revenues to the local economies, along with 145,000 or more jobs; not to mention it would be eco-friendly the reduction of CO2 emissions.
Daniels so called fiscal restraint is all smoke and mirrors. He cut the state's education budget. That forced school districts all over Indiana to cut teachers and staff. Schools districts have had to cut Special Education, courses offered, impose hefty fees for transportation, cuts to employee health care, increase class sizes from 22/25 to 30 children in a classroom. The districts have no choice to make those cuts or try to get enough votes to increase the property taxes for their areas. Does it really matter who takes your money through taxes? Whether the state taxes you or your local school district does the fact is nothing changes unless you ruin the education for the children under Daniels's administration. How are they going to compete in life against Chinese, Indian, etc . children in this " new world order". Their children go to school for something like 250 days a year and have longer school days. In Indiana the school year is 180 days and no full day kindergarten unless you pay for it. Some don't offer full day Kindergarten at all. Who is going to pay for your social security? District employee's that lose their jobs or bare high cost for health care spend less in their communities causing business's to become less profitable and make cuts of there own. Before Daniels Indiana's Unemployment Fund had a huge surplus. He cut the taxes that business pays into the fund. Giving the rich in Indiana a huge tax cut. Then he had to run to Obama to get emergency funds when the fund went bankrupt. Even before Unemployment was extended. This Right wing/ TEA Party/ Libertarian coalition is going to crash our education, social security, transportation, employment systems and take us back to the 1920's. Anyone who has ever dieted knows that you have to cut fat and build muscle. Daniels doesn't know the difference as long as he comes out looking good. Then he leaves just like he did at IPL. Bankrupting the company causing thousands of workers to loose their pensions and savings while he made millions on a golden parachute. If you believe he not running I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. He'll get in late after the field eviscerates itself making him look like the compromise candidate. Makes me wonder if he has really stopped getting high since his drug dealing conviction!
Devil's Son

Great points, Devil's Son
How will Mitch get property taxes for homes in foreclosure due to the current high rate of foreclosed homes and the loss of equity and Mitch's not so brilliant cuts?
Geez, Mitch is sounding more and more like Pawlenty.
Every American needs to know what the Gini Coefficient is. It is out there if you Google it. It is contained in the C.I.A.s World Fact Book. You will not get in Trouble if you Google it. It is in the Public Domain.
The Wealth Gap in America has Grown considerably over the Past Thirty Years since Republican Ronald Reagan first started taking Down Unions.
Michael Moore is Correct when he said that 400 people in America have more wealth then Half of our Population. 400 Wealthy Americans have more wealth then 150,000,000/ That's Million lower income Americans and that divide has continued to grow since Ronald Reagan has taken office.
These Facts are on the Website PolitiFact.com for anyone who doubts this.
the figure is actually closer to 155million house holds
I doubt if Mitch Daniels is radical enough for the people who are controlling the Republican party of late.......he does not scream and shriek about the Presidents birthplace or his religion or use the "code words" for "other"
Your probably right Ted and I bet that at least 300 of them are from Wall St or Hollywood. Anytime you want to go protest in front of Goldman Sachs let me know. I'll go with you.
I think the ultimate Repugnican Presidential candidate will be chosen by Gawd hisself, I think the successful Zealot should let his fundamentalist Zealot flag fly by re-introducing animal sacrifice and self flagellation into the political process, a big issue with the Repugnicans is that some of the strongest candidates are out cruising rough trade leather bars, highway rest area and airport men's rooms instead of exposing themselves to the electorate instead of teen age boys street hustlers and TV evangelists.
It really doesn't matter who the Repugs nominate. President Obama will win reelection in 2012 and win comfortably. The next shot they have is 2016. Let's hope that Hillary or some other really strong Democratic candidate gets the nomination. With the Tea Klux Klan controlling the Repug party the nominee will be so far to the right that he or she can never win the general election. The Tea Bagger take over of the Repugs may be the best thing that ever happened to the Democrats. And before anyone says anything about 2010, that was a fluke. Besides, the Repug take over of the House in 2010 will further ensure a strong Democratic victory in 2012.
Daniels did NOT want the reTHUGlicans in Indiana to push their agenda. They did and now the Democrats are in Illinois instead of Indy. Since he can NOT control his own party on the State level to avoid conflict and chaos how on Earth would he be able to take charge on a National level?
If all works as well as it has started WALKER,KASCIH and DANIELS will all be job hunting by November 2012.The one thing sure is that those COWARDS will not be looking for work in the military. Their yellow streaks down the middle of their back and the fact that as most GOP POLITICIANS are of the same ILK. They only like to send other peoples kids to war.
Mitch Daniels appeared on Meet the Press this morning wearing a confederate flag necktie.
Whoopsie! LMAO - Who will EVER forget all the bullsh!t about flag pins in the 2008 election?
Probably a clip-on he had lying around. He couldn't have tied it himself, and whoever would have had to do the knotting would have had to ask, "Are you sure you want to wear this pattern on National TV?"
Mitch Daniels seems to be about the only Republican who could have an intelligent debate with President Obama. Unfortunately, that disqualifies him from consideration. Most of them still think that W. and Cheney did a good job.
How did we get from Mitch Daniels to Ronnie Reagan? Reagan doubled the national debt during his term as President. That's a role model. When he sent troops into Lebanon 300 soldiers died, and Ronnie gave up and went home..to hear Newt Gringich tell it in later years this was the start of American retreat because it convinced bin Laden that America was weak and a push over-and that bin Laden could carriy out 9/11 in confidence knowing America would give up and go home.
Clinton's Back Hawk down confirmed this. And if you read the record of the 1980's as told by Republicans like Cheney and Wolfritz America didn't have a spine or backbone..this was the tradition started by Reagan..
Mitch Daniels worked under reagan during Bose years..he was part and parcel of doubling the national debt..this is the legacy he's proud of? Really?
"You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do" Henry Ford
"When a man says he approves of something in principle,it means he hasn't the slightest chance of putting it into pratice" --Otto Von Bismark
"Some people like my advice som much they frame it on the wall instead of using it" Gordon R Nelson
This pretty much sums up Mitch Daniels
You are comparing a man who was a political adviser to Reagan and the Director of the OMB, among other posts, to various presidents. That is very flattering to Mr. Daniels, but what does that have to do with Lebanon or Black Hawk down? No wonder the Republicans won't have a chance of fielding a candidate in 2012. They have all the right-wingers to deal with.
To quote Meghan McCain,
“I think its important to note that Michele Bachmann is not a leader. She not a leader of the Republican Party.” McCain added, “Michele Bachmann in my opinion is no better than a poor man’s Sarah Palin.”
