Another Gingrich announcement; Ariz. as Palin's home base?

Newt Gingrich says he plans a late May “announcement” at noon in front of Independence Hall, CNN reports. He says he’s leaning toward a yes.

But after even he admitted his initial roll-out was uneven, there's a problem with Independence Hall -- it's currently undergoing a historical restoration and won't be finished by late May. The restoration only started a few months ago and will last at least a year and a half. That might not exactly yield the kind of pictures Team Gingrich would want.

Palin campaign would be based in Arizona
Sarah Palin
was criticized for that "Target Map" in the aftermath of the Gabrielle Giffords shooting. Well, a Palin source tells Politico if she runs she’ll base her campaign in Scottsdale, Arizona, to be near daughter Bristol, who recently moved there. Arizona is also the home state of her 2008 running mate, John McCain.

Ben Smith notes: "Basing a campaign there would be a provocative rejection of any lingering political cost from those who connect her harsh rhetoric and Gabrielle Giffords' shooting -- a traditional refusal to retreat. It's also the core of the politically contested, fast-growing new West."

The unions are taking hits? Obama is taking a beating?? I need to start reading the correct polls, I guess.

But I gotta admit- I've never seen unemployment drop so fast as it has, or the deficit drop so fast as it has, since the attention all turned to Planned Parenthood!

Having been born and raised in Arizona I am very saddened to see it become the wing-nut state. Palin is just another nail in the coffin in what was once a great state. :(

I don't know....since Newt seems to be undergoing something of a "historical restoration" of his own, Independence Hall might not be that bad an idea......but if he really wants to do it in Philadelphia, I'd suggest the demolition site of the old Spectrum arena instead. Had its heyday and a lot of entertainment value.....but had long been past its prime.....and the rest of the world seems to have moved on, leaving just an empty space and still a lot of clean-up to be done.

The only difference is, the Spectrum holds some of the best memories of my life......

DBO,

One of the greatest weakness of the American People as a whole. The overabundant need to forgive and be forgiven. His past transgressions are likely not going to be an issue for the bible thumpers.

JoAnne,

Ditto. The Spectrum has indeed been a magical place for many Philadelphians for many years. Concerts, hockey, basketball. Tons of memories.

all ole newt is doing is making a bigger fool out of his self than he already was . a man that would be in congress trying to get a President kick out for doing something that he was doing himself . that is the biggest hyppocrite of them all . no one bigger bigger . if he thinks that him telling that him loving his country is the reason he did what he did to his wives has got to be the biggest lie that was ever told . the sorryest thing that this thing did was to serve divorce papers on his wife while she was in the hospital dieing of cancer has got to be the lower than a snake's bellie of a thing for a man to do . he could at least waited for her to pass on and he wouldn't have had to got a divorce. I can't see ever voting for a man with these credentials. too much baggage. you can look at him when he is talking and see that he is lieing.

Drive-By, that's funny. In my few years on this earth, there are two things that I've learned. Nothing in life comes easy and that some politicians can't keep it in their pants. I thought my classmates were frisky. Turns out that it's not a phase that's so easily grown out of.

As for Palin, she has one thing if nothing else and that's gall. Basing a campaign in Arizona where one of her "targets" was recently shot and more importantly, actually thinking that anyone would take a Palin campaign seriously. So yes, she's got guts. Even though that leaves what's left in her head sorely lacking.
