The big 2012 news that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich announced today in Georgia?
That he has launched a Web site, http://newtexplore2012.com/
As expected, Gingrich did NOT announce the formation of an exploratory committee. But it appears he's set on running.

I prefer the Geico Gecko. But if it a'Newtin' ur a'wantin', then have at 'em. Look forward to President Obama trouncing all who dare to run.
Louis J;
How about the dancing raisins, same IQ.
XD
@Navy,
If Newt has the intelligenc of Dancing Raisins, and by your account is not acceptable to run for the Presidency, then who is the person who should?
Since you appear to be an expert on government, why don't you run? You can have your other expert, LouisJ as VP, along with the rest of your minions in cabinet posts. Yeah, Feisty for Sec. of State.....that would get us into numerous wars in the world.
Then you can have good ole "Cut&PastBev" in charge of the Fed. Reserve. Then she can put a stop to those evil rich people like the Koch Bros., Soros and the King of Global Warming.
Yes, you would get a significant number of votes from your libbie base. Perhaps you can also increase my benefits for my VA disability!
Wow. You're really upset. SMH.
@LouisJ,
If you are refering to me in your post, I am not upset....I think you guys are funny. By the way, who authors your beginning day oped posts?
Safecracker - who from the GOP is fit to run? Id say none of them...
but thats not my call to make, I can only tell you who i'd like to have run.
#1 - Palin, easy to beat
#2 - Gingrich, almost as easy to beat
#3 - after that, they are all the same to me...
But, this all to say that the Propaganda machine by folks like the Koch brothers are going to make it tough anyway, its hard to overcome the dumbing down of the masses...and since we dont have "you cant lie on the news" law since Ronnie Reagan struck it down, its even HARDER to stop folks from being inundated with propaganda disguised as news.
I think it would do our country a great service if we returned back to common sense, and left the news to being JUST THE FACTS. I dont mind opinion news - but dont pawn yourself off as REAL NEWS when you arent, and all major news networks are guilty of this.
I'd like that rule of law to apply to political advertisements too...why not screen them BEFORE they go on to ensure a candidate is not lying, or misrepresenting the facts, or misleading the viewer to believe this short little snippet is ALL that was said.
I dont think Americans can envision that kind of world...not sure we want it, we'd then be accountable for the crap we elect.
*edited to add, not sure the elected officials would even allow us to make this change, it would be an end to the culture wars, and then they'd actually have to talk about the things they plan to fix..and how they plan to do it, rather than dividing us against each other on things that dont matter in the end.
Newt is smarter than Obama's entire cabinet (ok, that's not saying much) and would trounce our current President in a debate because he actually understands what he is talking about and would not need a teleprompter nor notes.
That said, his personal behavior is kind of disgusting. Then again, so was Bill C and he turned out to be a pretty damn good president for a democrat.
Tim Pawlenty would be a good choice, Mitt Romney is likely the most electable, but the worst choice as he is far to liberal. He is however a decent person, which at some point should matter.
As to the "propaganda machine", seems to me that the mainstream is truly the machine to overcome.
Paul Lets not be stupid and make a comment that Gingrich could beat Obama in a debate. Old Newt would be tongue tied and wouldn't be able to complete a sentence. Obama would make him look like a first grader in his knowledge of the political system. Newt has no common sense and when he is questioned about it will fall flat on his face. There is no one in the Republican Party nor the Tea party that could stand up to Obama in a debate.
Paul --
You mean like here? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoYDMLluvrA
See those screens around the podium he's speaking from? Those are called teleprompters.

And no one, especially MSNBC has a clue as to who will be the frontrunner for the GOP. It is too early in the season to make predictions. But the libbie media outlet needs to have comment.
Enough already with the Koch Bros. Where is the articles about the various ways Soros has also been involved in the election process? Are there standards for GOP and Dem Parties within the MSNBC reporting system?
I can imagine Chris Matthews attempting to tell the truth! He and several of the alphabet news channel outlets continually distort the truth. Tell me a news outlet that isn't more interested in ratings and Fox News (from the minions on this site that continually vilify them) than telling the full and honest truth.
I would like to see the rule of law apply to our legislators in Congress and in my State of CA government in Sacramento. We are over $26+B in the red due to the spending habits of the legislators of the long-term ruling Democratic Party.
The 535 ruling elitists in Washington D. C. can accomplish anything they choose to do.....the question is why they choose to neglect accomplishing for the good of the country.
You can run and then we can used Mr. Potato Head.
Bwaaaahhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa! Original Navy. Now did I go out of my way today to critize you? Actually, I praised you, considering you as presidential material since you seem to have all of the answers on improving government. LouisJ can be your VP, with the minions, Feisty as Sec State and Bev as AG.
By the way, who writes your opening op ed?
Safecracker:
I'm calling you out on your BS.
First, back up your assertions about Chris Matthews with fact. One incident would be just fine.
Secondly, you don't have a clue about California's budget mess. Not a clue. The financial mess in which California finds itself tracks to Proposition 13 and its super majority requirement. Compound that with the willingness of an uninformed electorate - you know, people like you - who vote in unfunded mandates and you have a recipe for disaster.
Lastly, California is leading the way for the nation. When the right wing nuts and reactionaries - the true RINO's - took control of the Republican Party in California in the 90's, they demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the concept of "NO". No negotiation. No compromise. No concern for the welfare of the state. The RINO mentality is destroying America.
Don't even begin to pretend you know what is happening in California. Clearly you do not understand the dynamics that put California where it is.
On yeah! Don't like MSNBC? Don't watch. You've made it perfectly clear you have an aversion to facts.
PBS? Everyone in the country needs to watch more Charlie Rose.
and even with all it's issues California still pays the way for like 5 "red" states in federal dollars.
Newt is gay.
You would think that Ol' Newt would be cringing at Newtex....whether it has plore after it or not, NewtEx1, NewtEx2, NewtEx3...that Eye of Newt is not so sharp ye see....

David Walker
David, coming from a libbie, I doubt if you do understand truth from error.
Well you have me here dave - I can't come up with an retort at the moment. I only watched him a time or two, and I thought his adoration of Obama wasn't justified. I didn't feel he was truthful, mearly pandering. But that is my opinion, and I do believe I am entitled to it.
Prop 13 began as a means to end run-away taxation due to the Democratic Party spending.
California is a great environment that is going south badly. And I do agree we are unfortunately going to be a leader for the nation - we will show the nation that our legislators cannot move this great state from the financial problems we have. Unless our Federal legislators get the economy moving, create the environment for job growth and reduce expense, the nation will look like CA.
As for Republican party stalling the government in the 90's, you couldn't be farther from the truth. The Dems have controlled CA government using the control to create newer entitlements while providing the GOP, the minority party with limited interaction for years. The only method for interaction was the super majority on the budget. Now that isn't an issue since it is now a simple majority vote, not the 2/3 vote and we shall see just what the Democratic Party will have ownership for now. Different dynamics for the playing field.
Hopefully it won't be the continuation of the spending that created this fiscal mess. I do hope Jerry Brown can make an impact, but it will be difficult, and not from only the Republicans, but also from the Dems when the cuts necessary will impact their core base.
Now since you believe I don;t understand the dynamics that put CA where it is, and you state Prop 13, please enlighten me from Prop 13 on.
Oh, I don't have an aversion to fact, but I do have an aversion to not telling the complete truth.
Only Republican I like is that Buddy guy from LA. Don't know much about him, but his little interview was promising. Gingrinch is rotten milk.
Safecracker:
Though I doubt you will read this, I will take the time to give you FACTS about Prop. 13.
First, I don't care how it began. The issue is how it ended. It was passed by a majority of voters - not a super majority - yet it imposed a super majority requirement for the imposition of new taxes. How this requirement ever passed constitutional muster is beyond me. This is the clearest example of the tyranny of a minority I can imagine. Additionally, Prop. 13 clearly included two separate issues: Taxation rates AND voting requirements. That is clearly forbidden in California law, yet again this passed constitutional muster.
That is precisely the reason California is unable to balance its budget. A minority of intransigent Republicans holds the budget hostage. One-third of the legislature can - and routinely does - thwart the will of the majority. That is far beyond what anyone ever imagined as a protection from the tyranny of the majority.
While Prop. 13 - originally called Jarvis-Gann - was designed to rein in property taxes, today it has resulted in horrible tax inequities. Identical properties can - and do - have wildly differing assessments. Neighbor A receives benefits identical to Neighbor B, but can - and does, in many cases - pay vastly more for the same services.
No one argues that the property taxes of pre-Prop. 13 weren't grossly out of line. They were horrible and the tales of people being forced from their homes because rates were so high are true. So, Howard Jarvis and Paul Gann seized the moment, and voila, here we are. Was the legislature irresponsible for not dealing with that festering problem? Hell, yes. But the monster we got, was no better.
Yet, Californians still can't figure out that they themselves are the problem. They continue to elect idiots. Jerry Brown was the governor when 13 passed. He opposed it at the time. When it passed, he immediately made clear that he would follow the will of the people. He was accused of flip-flopping. BS (What would you expect from Republicans but name-calling? He says he'll do what the voters want, and they keelhaul him. Typical Republican damned if you do, damned if you don't. nonsense.) He understood what the voters were saying and he followed through, and in the first few years - before the idiotic term limits were passed - the Assembly under the leadership of the very able Willie Brown was able to cobble together budgets with some semblance of sanity. Thanks to term limits, Governor Brown - quite possibly the smartest governor in the union - has no help coming from the current legislature.
Today, you are seeing the horrible results of term limits and Prop. 13. Gridlock.
Now as far as the RINO's of the 90's, you couldn't be more wrong. The Republican Party took a horrible lurch to the right - the far right - when fundamentalist "Christians" and Mormons began to wipe out the moderates. (For some clear history on that point, check out the Lincoln Club of Sacramento, which was wiped out in one fell swoop by the incredibly stupid Barbara Alby and her supporters.)
Safecracker, I don't get this stuff from other people. I was there. I saw it with my own eyes. You'd better believe some of the most vicious people you have ever met now control the Republican Party in California. That model is now being used at the national level, and watching the insanity in Wisconsin gives me a terrible feeling of deja vu.
As far as your resorting to labels, I'm not surprised. A "libbie"? What does that mean? Someone who doesn't agree with you? Someone who comes armed with facts?
Again bub, I was there. Given your understanding of what has happened and what is happening, it is clear you were not.
It takes a big ego to believe that you deserve to be President, and Newt is no slouch in that department. It will be interesting to see if like Rudy G and Fred T in 2008, the high point of his candidacy occurs prior to the formal announcement.
Right on...Newt's a self-aggrandizing douchewad who has no real intention of running. It's all just a measure of his tawdry egotistical "pay attention to me" megalomania.
.......a web site for HATERS, CHEATS, LIARS, BIRTHERS, HOT PANTIES. We are waiting for you.
Must prove you are 18 to enter.
Real stories of infidelity and hypocrisy.
Does the bio included the gerbil family values of uncle newtie? He never met a wife he couldn't cheat on...
why does this matter so much to a person who supports a party that has included All-Star cheaters from Kennedy to Clinton?
And don't try the hypocrisy card, my guess is that all the Democrat douche bags wives would probably attest to the fact that their husbands made the same promises at the alter that Newt did, and wasn't Kennedy a Catholic? Yeah, family values are kind of universal, as is cheating among politicians.
You are absolutly right. I think the difference would be that Clinton and Kennedy didnt cheat on-and leave- their wife while she was dying of cancer in the hospital. That says a bit more about character.
Rick, WS NC,
Now don't forget about Billy Bob in your comments. He only had Hillary for a wife, but cheated on her with a number of honeys........So did Hillary cheat on Bill in a similar fashion.
Did Deadbeat Dad Newt ever finally finish paying off the support he owed?
Is the man tone deaf? Who the hell wants a failed Speaker of the House as President? Let me see Newt+1+1+1= Moral Hypocrite.
Newt.. Newt. you felt the need to put this story on FR but the Judges ruling on the Obama Healtcare law and his Ruling for the Administration to Expedite it with in 7 Days you choose to just post it on an obscure part of the MSNBC boards Hours after i asked where the Story about the Decision was.
This just proves that MSNBC doesnt want to print anything that would put OBAMA and his Failed administration into the fore front..
Yawn
So Steve you would support and dead beat dad/ multi time adulter for president?? I bet you wife would like to know that you think this okay!
Blue, I think Steve's boyfriend would be upset he has a wife!!
zing. That implies he is a homosexual. LOL.
Bring it on! Maybe Christine O'Donnell will catch the "eye of Newt" as a possible VP selection.
Seriously...as an unrepentent progressive, I'm SO looking forward to 2012. I kept worrying that the GOP would wake up and find a moderate to put on the ballot. But, so far, I'm seeing a has-been philanderer, a quitter from Alaska, a nutjob from Minnesota, a hillbilly from Arkansas, Boss Hog down in Mississippi, and a combover from New York. Really, Republicans? Is this the best you can do?
Well, there's Ronnie Jr in Wisconsin, but they're still waiting to see how that one pans out before tossing his hat in the ring.
Jessica...I'm probably a little biased (okay, I'm a LOT biased), but I don't see this turning out well for the rookie Governor. But, hey, he should run anyway. It's not like low poll numbers running a campaign based on screwing the middle class is stopping any of the other GOP candidates.
Carianne, Yes, that is the best they can do! Can you imagine a debate between President Obama and any of these fools?
Tom, Yreka
No doubt Obuma has the edge there, but that is as far as it goes. As far as Obuma being a man of honor, integrity or character as a man, well he's proven he's nothing more than a honey tongued politician who speaks out of both sides of his mouth at the same time.
It a skill that's great for debates, but when it comes to running this country its as useless as he is.
"Obuma" That's cute. Did you think that up all by yourself, or did you have help?
Doberman - I believe mature adults call that "compromise"...which, dont get me wrong, at times its driven me up the wall. YET, when I cast my ballot for him - I knew what I was getting, I knew he'd be a centrist and I knew he'd tend to overextend on the "compromising" in a hope that moderates, indpendents and others not toeing their party line would see as his being willing to do whats best for the nation, not his party.
I realize, Compromise isnt even in the lexicon of republicans...and thats not integrity, thats arrogance. Hell, it even borders on negligence.
Unlike Sarah Palin, who can talk out of every orifice!!
carianne
No it wasn't hard to come up with. I figure once Obuma's out of office and people open their eyes and realize just how bad a President he really was, they will refer to future President who are just like him as; "he as bad as that bum Obuma was."
I'm just ahead of my time is all.
Jessica
No, you didn't know what you were getting when you cast your vote for him because the man that campaigned for President isn't the person we now have as President. No one knew when he was campaigning that Obuma was nothing more than a honey tongued politician who talks out of both sides of his mouth at the same time. A bag of hot air that follows the wind rather than lead.
Case in point. He neither supported nor would he sign a bail out bill. That was his campaign promise to the American people. The first thing he did in office was to sign the Bush bail out bill. Then he went on to sign two more.
As someone who seems to have followed his campaign, then you know he championed Medicare in his speeches and debates as the most efficient health care system in the world. How did it go from being the best in his campaign speeches and debates to being the worse after he took office.
You all who support him can forget what kind of man he is you want. But you can't change the fact he's a man with no honor, integrity or character of a man who will be referred to by future generation as "that bum, Obama"
What? are you just making stuff up? He voted for TARP, heck he and Mccain both made big deals of leaving the election circuit to be present for the vote. And he campaigned on federal spending creating jobs, it was a specific intention from the beginning.
Don't even know what you are referencing regarding Medicare, as the entire first year and a half of his term was a fight to expand Medicare and Medicaid coverage, that was the initial healthcare plan. After a summer of "death panels" things got a little distorted....
Every time I see Newt I think of the politician in "O'Brother Where Art Thou". Pass the biscuits Newt!
Newt just basically lies his way along his political path. Now he's just doing it in a different media format.
God help ous all
Gee i wonder who his first lady will be or should we wait to see if he wins,,,now would that be no. 2,3, 4, or should we wait and see
If what he's been able to accomplish in all his years of service is any indication of what he should do, then he should be announcing his retirement. He was a do nothing honey tonged politician then and still is.
We need a real leader to step to the fore front and lead this country, not another do nothing with a big mouth.
Only a person with very low morales and character would EVER vote for this dead-beat dad who committed adultery on his wife who was in the hospital fighting for her life!! I can NOT believe the family values people would even let this ba$tard in the door, unless family values mean families with no values!! Please tell me he is NOT a viable canidate for the Conservative Party, God, even Sarah Palin seems to have better morales than this guy!
"God, even Sarah Palin seems to have better morales than this guy!"
So does my dog, and HE'D dick a bush if he thought there was a snake in it.
I believe you have Newt confused with John Edwards, the real scumbag who was cheating on his wife whilst she was dying from cancer. Have a nice trial JE
peaches - I realize fox doesnt deliver the REAL NEWS but surely you know how to google, right?
ht tp://lonestarbear.blogspot.com/2008/09/newt-gingrich-who-left-1st-wife.html
there, I helped you do all the work. all you have to do is read...I hope its not too much to ask.
"even Sarah Palin seems to have better morales than this guy!?? " Is your hatred that deep that facts are a casualty of your propaganda:
Maybe you can give us examples: REAL ONES- NOT made up ones" Of Sarah Palins LOW MORALS?
What about abandoning her duties entrusted to her by the people of Alaska for her own realty TV show? Is that moral?
Or using her power as Governor to try to get her brother-in-law fired. Was that moral? How about dragging her young baby with downs syndrome to every event where a camera was present? Insisting that her pregnant daughter and the baby daddy get married even though it was obvious it wasn't what was best for either of them? Was that moral? How about putting gun cross-hairs on districts of Democrats that she didn't like and then posting it on a website for all of her die-hard fans to see. Morality? How about being a complete moron with no intelligible national or foreign policy expertise and then blaming the media when she can't answer their "gotcha" questions? Do any of these work for you, Al...or are you just so twitterpated because you think every time she winks she's winking at you?
Carrianne- Ha Ha - I'm down with That!!
I still believe Newt and Santorum would make a good twosome. Of course that ticket couldn't win but they could always try again in 2016,2020 and on and on. It would give America a Laugh for a long long time.
GOD bless America! Land that I love. Stand beside her and guide her...
 eviloldhypocrite.org ??
This "family value" hypocrite will never be elected to anything.
I like the background photo of all the happy people on the website. I don't think that is a clear cross section of his base.
So after going to Newt's website --- I'm wondering WHY he doesn't have the photos of all of his ex-wives on the front page standing along side of him and his current wife. Then again, by the time the election comes around, he'll have to change the picture because he'll probably have a new new wife by then! What a hypocrit!
No newt is good newt. I repeat - no newt is good newt. I repeat again - no newt is good newt. Now everybody say it with me - no newt is good newt. That was easy, huh. Thanks.
Funny how LEFTIES want to make Newts personal life an issue when their hero was BILL the Cigar Clinton:
Is character an issue only for Republicans? I don't care about Newts personal life; If anyone here actually read any of his books, you'd see he's extremely brilliant. Hell I'd vote for Hugh Hefner if he could fix this economy and country~ and I'm sure Newt can: Remember folks: This country turned around when Clinton DOVE head first toward Newts congress JUST to save his political A$$:
Good, Al...you pin all your hopes on Gingrich. He's a great guy. See you in 2012...LOL
Aww, you think he is a viable contender! Thats so cute.
Congratulations AL Newt just sent me a memo that says you have selected to receive The Newt Poster of The day Award. It is a beautiful presentation on basic copy paper( unframed) that will look great hanging on your wall.
All you need do now is send Newt a donation of $5,000 and a specially selected individual will personally deliver your award in 4 to 6 weeks. Please ignore the fact that this person may be wearing a USPS uniform as we do not want them bothered by your neighbors. Remember $5,000 on a check endorsed directly to Newt will save us the bother of moving the money around a few times to launder it. Ohh and if you would in the memo portion of your check please indicate loan payment, thanks and New thanks you as well.
I just hope the voters don't forget some of the bizzar stuff that has come out of Newt's mouth over the years. It's going to be a huge disaster for the citizens of the US when the republicians gain power once again and Newt would be the worst not to mention Palin.
To bad the republicians can't come up with someone that's not religious and/or nuts.
I don't think it matters who the GOP runs, the way they are going now, I see a complete reversal of 2010. They were going to get right on the jobs band wagon and so far all we see is more abortion crap and other religious inspired stuff, plus the move they are making in Wisconsin make take the Right wing down for the count. One more thing: The Tea Party is seeing they are on the wrong side.
Not only is Newt not presidential material, his past, both political and personal is so rotten he can't get elected to anything.
The internet won't allow lies to be told without being discovered. The GOP position is based on way more lies than the Democrats.
Who would not want to vote for a guy, who served his first wife with divorce papers, while she was in the hospital and recovering from CANCER surgery? He had twenty-two bounced checks, while he was speaker of the house. I know, I would trust him with finances. Newt, you are appropriately named because, you change colors with the every time you change wives!
I think you should ask Huckabee to be your vice president. Newt and Huck, what the F@&k?
