NBC/WSJ poll: Tea Party supporters like Huck

They’re expected to make up about half all of Republican presidential primary voters, and they’re surveying their options.

So who’s winning the Tea Party primary so far?

According to a new NBC/WSJ poll, 53 percent of respondents who said they expect to vote in the GOP presidential primary identified themselves as Tea Party supporters. Their favorite candidate right now: the former Arkansas governor who shot to prominence after winning over conservatives in Iowa in 2008.

Among Tea Party backers, 27 percent said Gov. Mike Huckabee would be their first choice among Republican candidates, with an additional 15 percent calling Huckabee their second choice.

Huckabee, who has sent mixed signals about how interested he may be in a White House run that would cut off a lucrative TV contract, had the support of about a quarter of GOP primary voters overall in the poll.

Presumed presidential candidate Mitt Romney fares less well among Tea Party types, with 14 percent calling the former Massachusetts governor their top choice for the nomination. (It’s worth noting that the same share of Tea Party supporters named former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin – who enjoys broad support among conservatives but not always the perception of strong viability as a candidate – as their top choice.) Romney and Palin were the second choice of 17 percent and 19 percent of Tea Party fans, respectively.

Romney was the top choice among GOP primary voters who say they are NOT Tea Party supporters, with 32 percent of those voters saying he’s their preferred nominee.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was the top choice of 19 percent of Tea Party backers, with another 8 percent calling him their second choice.

Gingrich, who’s the preferred nominee for about 13 percent of GOP primary voters overall according to the NBC/WSJ poll, unveiled a new website on Thursday that indicates he's planning to explore a presidential run.

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who recently delivered the keynote speech at a meeting of the Tea Party Patriots and released a web video praising the movement, was the first or second choice of a combined 15 percent of Tea Party supporters.  His overall support among all GOP primary voters was at just 3 percent in the survey.

Who cares about the Tea Party? This shouldn't be news because no tea party candidate can be taken seriously enough to become president. I welcome any tea party candidate because that just means a landslide win for Obama.

The truth is, if Obama gets re-elected, this country will fall flat on its face before he's out of there.

Floridamom-You make no sense. Bush gave tax cuts to the rich when he took office. We were in a budget SURPLUS from Clinton. He started 2 wars one of which he and his people have since admitted was for a false reason. The economy dumped before Obama took office. Now that Obama is trying to fix it the Republicans are voting against and preventing any bill he wants. Then they turn around and say he hasnt fixed the economy.

Obama administration has done wonders on the war on terror and if they could get a single bill passed they would turn us around! Get out a little dear, the world hated Bush and Obama is beloved, I know ive been to well over 25 Countries traveling.

So, vote for all Democrats in 2012. I assure you, just give it this shot and in the following 4 years the country will be back to its old glory!

Police and Fire Unions for OBAMA!

Don't forget, Teahadis, House members can be voted out as fast as they were voted in!! I predict World record losses for the GOP in '12. It's become quite evident that they lied their asses off to get re-elected and are now out to destroy America for corporate and the uber-rich gains, and the Teanazis are going to go nuts and destroy the GOP.

The reason a more moderate candidate (on the spectrum of things) like Romney, or a true fiscal conservative like Ron Paul are not being embraced is because of the Evangelicals in the GOP.

I just watched Rick Santorum's interview on CNN. Santorum claims everything is a moral matter (another new buzzword added to "common sense" solutions). Wow, what a chicken crap way to justify removal of Separation of Church and State.

Beware the social conservatives who make policies based on the Bible, from foreign policy to legislating morality. They want Sharia Law to be illegal only because it would be competition for their Christian Republic of America. Also beware Republican recycling of old losers--are they running anyone new?

okay guys, let me explain the political process for you Repubs: you won 63 seats because they were in districts that were favorable to your party; i.e. old white male conservatives. you won seats in hillbilly districts. its a different story when you have to defend an ENTIRE STATE in a Presidential election and the intellegent voters turn out. I am glad you all won 63 house seats; now people will be even more fired up as to why u cannot let a Republican back in the White house because the House of Repubs are actually doing the Democrats dirty work for 2012. offer themselves up as exhibit A as to why Obama will get re-elected. The math and the map doesn't work in the Repubs favor any longer. Most of America isn't hate filled or ignorant

The House swings back and forth so much one shouldn't really read too much into it. The Republicans got, as Bush said, "thumped"in the last midterms. Everytime a party gets a big sweep they read too much into it and way over reach. The Tea Party should remember that. Also the short sightedness of the Tea Party will be their undoing in the long term. So the thoughtful thinking center will jerk their leash and get their attention. The American electorate wants a thoughtful thinking adult as President. Especially after that idiot Bush.

Ron Paul won cpac this year and last year and again you do not see anything about him in the media. He seems to be the only politician that has the balls to tell it like it is. Is this why the establishment (media included) is so afraid of him?

watch them try to twist his comments in the repub 2008 debate (which he still won)

All the tea party has done is paved the way for Obama in 2012. Really. Sarah Palin? OMG Michelle Bachmann OMG. Are you kidding me. Two stupid women and I mean stupid. If the Republicans would have worked with Obama from the start we would be much further ahead as a country. Now that they have a majority, they announced that Obama wants to work with them. What??? These guys are still mad because they got beat and by a black man. Let's face it, if these people in power do not change, the middle class is screwed. All these jerks care about is who is going to win in 2012. They could care less about any jobs etc. etc. I for one am sick of it. Wake up people. I would think that everyone would be sick of it by now. Now that the Republicans are back in, it should be very obvious what these guys are all about and if you cannot see that... well I feel sorry for you. These rich a$$holes want to take my tax dollars and stuff it in their pockets and not do a thing to earn a salary. It's nice to have some affluent jerks making decisions for people that can barely afford the increase in gas prices. Stop worrying about 2012. wtf and capital WTF.....

In all seriousness, to the members of the Tea Party I would like to thank you for bringing to the fore just how your ridiculous and simple approaches to very complex issues has caused a few (and they are getting to be fewer) moderate Republicans to step back and think for a moment. Bumper sticker time is over. Ignorance is bliss but then comes reality.

Obama Signed Resolution Describing Him As Ineligible

Yet the Obots still argue that Obama is eligible to serve as Commander-in-Chief.

On April 10, 2008, Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Claire McCaskill (D-MO) introduced a resolution expressing the sense of the U.S. Senate that presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was a 'natural born Citizen,' as specified in the Constitution and eligible to run for president. Sen. McCaskill knew Obama was not a U.S. Citizen, that’s why she introduced this bill -- dressing it up to look like it was in Sen. John McCain's cause.

It was during the bill's hearing that Sen. Patrick Leahy, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, made the following statement:

"Because he was born to American citizens, there is no doubt in my mind that Senator McCain is a natural born citizen," said Leahy. "I expect that this will be a unanimous resolution of the Senate."

At a Judiciary Committee hearing on April 3, Leahy asked Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, himself a former Federal judge, if he had doubts that McCain was eligible to serve as President.

"My assumption and my understanding is that if you are born of American parents, you are naturally a natural-born American citizen," Chertoff replied.

"That is mine, too," said Leahy.

What's interesting here is that Sen. Leahy, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary, confirms that a "natural born" citizen is the child of American citizen parents.

                            Parents -- that's two. That's BOTH parents.

Every time the words, "citizen" and "parent," are used by Sen. Leahy and Sec. Chertoff, the plural case, "citizens" and "parents," is used. The plural case is the operative case.

It is Sen. Leahy's opinion -- his own recorded words, in a formal Senate Resolution and on his U. S. Senate website -- that Barack Obama is not a "natural born" citizen, and therefore not eligible to serve as Commander-in-Chief, regardless of his birthplace.

Obama had one American parent --singular -- his mother. His father was a citizen of Kenya, and a subject of Great Britain.

Obama, himself, "at birth," was a citizen of Kenya, and a subject of Great Britain -- he says so on his own campaign website. This fact introduces the concept of "divided loyalties," -- the reason the founders created the eligibility requirement in the first place -- a fact that further underlines Obama's ineligibility.

The source of this information is Sen. Leahy's own website. The webpage contains a statement about the resolution; the resolution, itself; the Statement Of Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.); and an excerpt of Sec. Chertoff's testimony.

The plural word "parents" is used four times. When used to identify the parents, the word "citizens" is used five times. That's nine times that Sen. Leahy, on his own website describes the eligibility requirement. There is NO PLACE in any of these four documents where the singular case of "parent" or "citizen" is used.

The real purpose of this bill was to change article II, section 1, clause 5 of the Constitution of the United States with reference to the requirements of being a "natural born citizen" by the Democratic Party leadership -- paving the way for an Obama run.

Both Leahy and Chertoff avoid addressing the "in the US mainland" (jus solis) element of the eligibility requirement and focus solely on parentage (jus sanguinis) in making their arguments and by doing so bring focus to the fundamental reason Obama is not qualified. He had one American parent and one foreign parent. Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen -- no matter where he was born.

Obama is a co-signer of this resolution. So, I guess he too agrees that one needs two American parents to be eligible for POTUS -- except he doesn't care -- after all, he's the Obamamessiah. Rules don't apply to him.

                            Birthers aren’t crazy. They’re winning.

Per the14th Amendment jurisdiction as related to birth is:
                                (SOIL)+(MOM)+(DAD) = BABY CITIZENSHIP
                                Thus:
(USA)+(USA)+(ALIEN) = US NATIVE BORN DUAL CITIZEN
(USA)+(ALIEN)+(USA) = US NATIVE BORN DUAL CITIZEN
                                (USA)+(ALIEN)+(ALIEN) = US BORN ALIEN
(FOREIGN)+(USA)+(ALIEN) = FOREIGN BORN US DUAL CITIZEN
(FOREIGN)+(ALIEN)+(USA) = FOREIGN BORN US DUAL CITIZEN
                                (FOREIGN)+(ALIEN)+(ALIEN) = ALIEN

                                Defined by Natural Law
(USA)+(USA)+(USA) = US NATURAL BORN CITIZEN
Since each parent contributes equally their blood to the child,
then each parent confers equally their rights to the child.

"Are" Please educate yourself. Obama has surrounded him self with more of Corp America than even Bush did. The more the left is caught in it's lies the more people move to the teaparty. I am not a fan of the far left anymore than the far right.

Independent and working for the repeal of Obama and that mess of a health care bill. We were promised change in 2008, We screamed change in 2010. We will finish the change in 2012.
