Chicago gets a new Mayor. Will it be Rahm Emanuel? ... President Obama is criticized for not taking on the nation's long-term debt and deficits, but bipartisan closed-door talks are underway. What more can get done in the Week Ahead? ... The president heads to Cleveland. ... Republicans Mike Huckabee and Scott Brown kick off book tours ... and there's plenty more campaigning by G-O-P presidential hopefuls.

Not if he does not get 50 plus one votes.
Thanks Mark & Domenico and all other FR crew for giving us a place to discuss this crazy week .
Have a nice weekend everyone. See you at the Dew Drop.
Feisty, get the popcorn ready
Mark & Domenico we'll be waiting for another crazy week ahead
thanks
I really wish my plate wasn’t so ‘full’ this weekend or I would hop in the car for a little ‘road trip’ to the great city of Madison to support the hard working people who are being bent over by a corrupt Governor!
Know that I am with you in solidarity! Keep up the fight! We MUST not ALLOW greed to disseminate the middle class under ANY circumstances!
To the fine crew of First Read – as always, I appreciate all that you do to keep this blog a form of ‘cheap therapy’ for us political junkies! Lol
You’re hard work & dedication does not go unnoticed, even if some of the more bitter members claim otherwise!
Time to head on over to the Dew Drop Inn and kick back a few with some fine people who enjoy nothing more than laughing at a few who haven't a clue..
Got the popcorn right here & some chocolate covered pretzels as well, Bev! The pretzels are in honor of the twisted logic that the right displays on a daily basis!
Salute'!
Please Insult Me!
Thank God I don't live in Chicago.
What a shame you'd fit right in. Chicago is a very diverse city.
Amen to that.
Please Insult Me!
What a shame you'd fit right in. Chicago is a very diverse city
"Diverse."
Yeah. And Ted Bundy was a "colorful" character.
Just like him you'd fit in.
So, is strangling liberals a part of your fantasy world?
Well maybe Joliet I mean Stateville would be a better fit for you PIM.

From another thread, but a very profound comment, Bev.
Yet, most Democrats / Obama don't seem to realize it.
Everybody on the left this morning was defending the unions in Wisconsin as if it was some typical "equal pay for equal work" protest when in fact the protests were to protect superior benefits compared to the 85% of the people that pay their salaries. (The teachers actually sued previously, to have Viagra added to their health plan.)
185,000+ citizens have lost their jobs. Think they care about the teacher tantrum over having to contribute 5.8% to their own plans? The people of Wisconsin realize the problem and want honest efforts to address the issues.
The Republicans try to do the tough work and the Dems distort the issue, organize the demonstrations and split town.
The left says how valuable and how needed the unions are. Yea, well, New York City horses were valuable and needed for the city's transportation once. 400 tons horse poop along with 20,000 gallons of urine deposited per working day were OK then, but times changed. Horses and unions are not needed anymore and Americans are sick of the 400 tons and 20,000 gallons of unnecessary union pensions we are left with.
65% of Americans are now against public service unions.
Some of the drama queens on the left compared Wisconsin to Egypt - freedom, hope for the future. Nope - try Greece. The protesting was for exactly the same reason, although the teachers were losing hardly anything compared to the Greek cutbacks. Nevertheless - same selfish, indignant sense of government entitlement.
Americans see Greece, see the trillion wasted, remember the "for the children" teacher bailouts AND WATCH THE TEACHERS WALK, live in an economy with 9% unemployment for two years, understand the debt their children are inheriting......
America has changed. Do you guys really think America will buy the same ole Dem stuff again?
Bob, FDR was against public unions. Who would have though that Democrats would riot over a position held by their hero and supported by Republicans. .
You guys need to stop "cyber-bullying" Bev. And by cyber-bully I am of course using Navy's definition which appears to be presenting her with factually based arguments and reason.
I seems neither Navy or Bev. are equipped to handle.
And don't forget about our man Ron - the Libbies are "winning" don't you know. Now sure some might say retreating or hiding in the case of the dem Wisconsin senators, Al Gore, or even Obama when it comes to that "budget" he proposed.
And all you really can say is WOW! when it comes to his dealing with the debt service - just pretending like it doesnot exist.
Man is this getting good or what?
True American -
Not much of a dare, really.
Okay, I went to Page 2 on that thread, and all I'm seeing is your argument that says that if, under HCR, everyone is mandated to have insurance, then there would supposedly be no need for Planned Parenthood anyway.
But..... I thought Republicans were going to repeal Health Care Reform, or at the very least strip out the individual insurance mandate. Wasn't that the plan? Are you saying that you now support the individual mandate? Or that Republicans in general have given up and accepted it as a done deal, and that's why they have to now start in on smaller targets like Planned Parenthood? Either there's a mandate or there isn't - you can't have it both ways.
And speaking of unfinished arguments, did you ever get back to me yesterday about those bogus claims you and Speedy in Palm Harbor were making that kids were being kidnapped from school by their teachers and being dragged against their will and without their parents' permission to the protests in Wisconsin?
Oh, and no, that wasn't a dare. Have a nice weekend. Just like this other True American plans to.

Might "people" be sick of the fact that we are the world's biggest debtor and are grossly insolvent?
Naw, you are right, it's all wine and roses.

Bev - After listening to Governor Walker's press conference this evening, it's not TOO obvious the Koch Brothers got their money's worth!
Stand PROUD union workers all across this land! We have your back's!!
Avalanches all start with ONLY two snowflakes!
Down with the blood sucking unions and their fat-cat, overpaid leaders who use union member money to pay the Spending Party pigs rather than their members pension fund!
Ok Fiesty and Bev. care to wager as to the outcome of the Wisconsin debacle?
YOu got the unions I got the Governor.
Game on ladies - see you all next week. I think it's gonna be more good times!
i think they should fire all of them. unions are nothing but thiefs and yes i am in one, get ripped off every month.....
oh boy, now we are going to have a tea party left (aka progressive united) along with a tea party right.
MSNBC is very lucky to have such "subject matter experts" who do nothing more then express their opinions and feed each other's egos with dribble. What a shame. Diversity by the way includes other opinions and views, unfortunately you know how to spell it but don't seem to know how to practice it.
And from Rocco: "FDR was against unions". Really Rocco? Quoting FDR: "If I were a factory worker, I would join a union." Quit listening to Fox "news".
american,
we prefer coffee co-op, thanks!
newday,
Still haven't contacted a Sylvan Learning Center to work on that pesky high school level reading comprehension problem?
Rocco stated "public" unions, not private-sector. Want an FDR quote on public unions?
Walker hasn't even said "Unthinkable and intolerable." Seems the Great Progressive Lefty FDR was even to the right of Walker.
and to coin Tavis Smiley:
Our government has historically perpetuated more atrocities against our citizenry than is reasonable or comprehensible. Of course government employees need protection!
Collapsing the economy for the sake of social engineering / housing markets is an atrocity against our citizenry.
Purposely driving the price of fuel through the roof by wantonly destroying the energy industry for the sake of an ideological agenda is an atrocity against our citizenry.
Intentionally manipulating our agricultural industry and causing food prices to skyrocket in an effort to advance the same ideological agenda is an atrocity against our citizenry.
Recklessly doubling the debt is not only an atrocity against our citizenry, but our future citizenry.
The unions confiscate wages of their employees - send them to the Democrats who protect the unions by buying out private sector car companies, bailing out government union workers - who work the phone banks for the Democrats, who demonstrate against any oppositional political sentiment ....
FDR was a liberal.
FDR was a progressive before Obama was born.
But FDR had principle and loved this country, at least enough to put the country before his ideology and it's tool - unions.
Clara - And I believe that public union rules regarding pensions and healthcare are raping the private sector taxpayers. Seems like the public sector unions are in cohoots with the rich politicians who see nothing wrong in grinding us private sector taxpayers under their hobnailed boots. Care to link us with online union contracts so that I might reveiw other work rules that make our government the most efficient in the world.
I have listened to tavis smiley on occasion, but have found no quotes stating...
Perhaps this is what you refer to...
I find this quote by tavis to be apropos to your post...
Care to show us the source for what you claim to be a Tavis Smiley coinage?
My tavis quotes come from brainy quotes
http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/t/tavis_smiley.html#ixzz1EQu9jxSd
Since you find government to be so focused on atrocities against its citizenry, how do you propose that the private sector taxpayer protect itself from said atrocities?
Gosh, the right wing nuts can never settle on if they love or hate FDR. Mostly, they called him a socialist in his time (sound familiar?) But, they do like to drag FDR out when they think he makes their point for them. There is no evidence to suggest that FDR would have maintained hostility to public unions, in fact the evidence is against it. For those of you interested in the truth, and for the "teabaggers" who can actually read Google Why FDR Would Support the Wisconsin Protests. Andrew Leonar February 18, 2011. To suggest that FDR would have supported Walker is laughable.
Republicans are more interested more in acquiring more power than in actually serving the public. Wisconsin is not broke. It has a 120milion dollar surplus unlike the state I live in and many others. Their Bellies are Full But they want us to go Hungry.
Wisconsin Gov. Walker Ginned Up Budget Shortfall To Undercut Worker Rights
Despite shortfalls in revenue following the economic downturn that hit its peak with the Bush-era stock market collapse, the state has balanced budgets, maintained basic services and high-quality schools, and kept employment and business development steadier than the rest of the country. It has managed so well, in fact, that the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau recently released a memo detailing how the state will end the 2009-2011 budget biennium with a budget surplus.

Wisconsin Gov. Walker Ginned Up Budget Shortfall To Undercut Worker Rights
Brian Beutler | February 17, 2011, 1:47PM
[snip]
Furthermore, this broadside comes less than a month after the state's fiscal bureau -- the Wisconsin equivalent of the Congressional Budget Office -- concluded that Wisconsin isn't even in need of austerity measures, and could conclude the fiscal year with a surplus. In fact, they say that the current budget shortfall is a direct result of tax cut policies Walker enacted in his first days in office.

While you're on the page notice Rasmuseen excuse me I mean Fox-mussen notice polls have the President pol nuber lower than Gallup
The GOP/TEA Bagger party are liars and only interested in greed and power
I repeat…
This is an effort by the Koch brothers and Republicans to get rid of unions who do "collective bargaining', and the middle class. How wants to work for minumun wage?
The new battle cry will be "Remember Wisoncon "like "Remember the Alamo' was.
newday,
After dealing with you a few times, I realized by definition you were daft - not sensible; unreasonable, hence: newdaftDawning.
Silly, stupid, foolish, nutty, dippy, mad all applied to your posts, be they to Feisty, or no joe. newdaft wasn't perfect, it hardly covered your sanctimony and stupid condension, but foolish could cover those. Still not perfect, but more accurate than newday, though.
Today, I realize newdayDawning is probably in a way just as good - it seems to explain the daft. Every day is a new day. Make it and everything, what every you want it to be. Ignore facts, history, the Constitution, whatever....... today you can make them whatever you want them to be.
Today (as always), you ignored Rocco's exact words "public" unions - change it to private-enterprise unions to fit your point and change the actual record.
The rebutttal was FDR's exact quote. Not too ambiguous. What part of "unthinkable and intolerable" do you not understand? What words could FDR have used that would have been more empathetic?
So what do you come back with ......
(There's no evidence to suggest that FDR would not have changed. Yea, good point. I could see a guy 129 years old maybe changing his mind if he hadn't died almost 66 years ago. What an asinine statement.)
........... another LaLa Land lib's opinion and mindles rationalization. From your article .....
YOU EVEN CHANGED THAT! The guy wistfully says "he might well have changed his mind" and you frame it as a fact.
To suggest you are capable of grasping reality, what people actually say ..... is laughable.
Get ready folks - the real laughs are gonna happen in a minute - the poor booby, feeling sorry for how stupid I am ..........
same crap every time she gets it handed to her.....

Excellent example for the right to cite, newday
I'd like to add where this distortion originate; none other than Andrew Beribart famous for ACORN and Shirley Sherrod video edits and the mouthpiece of the Koch brothers and CoC, Fox News to appeal to low information voters of the right.
[snip]
The big issue in Wisconsin today is whether or not public sector workers should have collective bargaining rights. In an Aug. 16, 1937 letter to Luther Steward, the president of the National Federation of Public Employees, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt had something to say about that:
Roosevelt would have absolutely rejected the mass demonstrations aimed at blocking access or regress from the state’s legislative building, and at keeping children out of school:
Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of government employees.
[M]eticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the Government.
Yet now we have a president of the United States using his political organization, Organizing For America, to encourage militant tactics that would obstruct the operations of a SOVEREIGN state government, in order to keep collective bargaining of the sort that the great liberal icon and friend of unions, FDR, said has “distinct and insurmountable limitations.”
http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/02/18/fdr-vs-wisconsin-teachers-union/
And who is Breibart parroting?
Robert A Freedman’s right-wing book-- Preview and Summary of the Wayward Welfare State [page 50]
[snip]
In this comprehensive analysis of the activities of American government, the author describes the rise and growth of the welfare state, the general disillusionment with its results, and its incipient decline by the end of the 1970s. He traces the enormous expansion of social programs with the New Deal of the 1930s to the Great Society of the 1960s, documents their unsatisfactory and often counterproductive consequences and outlines public policies that could help undo the damage and restore a strong and prosperous America.

Roosevelt dominated the American political scene, not only during the twelve years of his presidency, but for decades afterward. He orchestrated the realignment of voters that created the Fifth Party System. FDR's New Deal Coalition united labor unions, big city machines, white ethnics, African Americans and rural white Southerners. Roosevelt's diplomatic impact also resonated on the world stage long after his death, with the United Nations and Bretton Woods as examples of his administration's wide-ranging impact. Roosevelt is consistently rated by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. Presidents
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_D._Roosevelt
You'd better be quick to read it; because I heard the Koch Brothers are having people go in wiki to delete or change contents. In other Republicans are writing history ever chance they get.
Wisconsin may seem to the rest of the country like an unlikely catalyst, but to people who have watched the governor’s political rise through the years,
Unions have always been his piñata, over and over,” Mr. Larson said.

I have a common name for you too. get ready to laugh . It's "bobbytrap". You are in a cul de sac. The Koch Brothers, Rupert Murdoch's Fox Noise tentacles have done a bad "government takeover" on you. Without a national crisis—economic destitution and rebellion—it is not likely the Roosevelt Administration would have instituted the bold reforms that it did. [paragraph 20]
Historically, government, whether in the hands of Republicans or Democrats, conservatives or liberals, has failed its responsibilities, until forced to by direct action: sit-ins and Freedom Rides for the rights of black people, strikes and boycotts for the rights of workers, mutinies and desertions of soldiers in order to stop a war.
Voting is easy and marginally useful, but it is a poor substitute for democracy, which requires direct action by concerned citizens.
For instance, the MORTGAGE FORECLOSURES THAT ARE DRIVING MILLIONS FROM THEIR HOMES—they should remind us of a similar situation after the Revolutionary War, when small farmers, many of them war veterans (like so many of our homeless today), could not afford to pay their taxes and were threatened with the loss of the land, their homes. They gathered by the thousands around courthouses and refused to allow the auctions to take place.[ Last 3 paragraphs]
http://www.progressive.org/mag_zinn0308
Conservatives have railed against the New Deal from the start. In 1934, H. L. Mencken was already decrying it as “a saturnalia of expropriation and waste.” When F.D.R. ran for re-election in 1936, a headline in William Randolph Hearst’s newspapers insisted that “Moscow Backs Roosevelt.”
BUT AMERICANS WERE NOT FOOLED. THEY KNEW F.D.R. WAS ON THEIR SIDE IN A WAY THAT HERBERT HOOVER AND HIS FELLOW FREE-MARKETERS HADN’T BEEN.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/12/opinion/12mon4.html
Despite Roosevelt campaigning heavily against anti-New Deal Republicans and anti-New Deal Democrats, Republicans gained many seats in Congress in the 1938 midterm elections and the Democrats opponents of the New Deal retained their seats,[2] resulting in the WPA, CCC and other relief programs being shut down during World War II by the Conservative Coalition (i.e., the opponents of the New Deal in Congress); they argued the return of full employment made them superfluous. As a Republican President in the 1950s, Dwight D. Eisenhower left the New Deal largely intact.

Excellent job, Beverly: poor bobby: He keeps trying to DEMAND my attention, which I refuse to give him. One cannot deal with fools. The fact of the matter is this: FDR would NEVER have supported the "teabaggers", they are the selfsame group of no minds that he dealt with in his day. They were the America Firsters, those people who could not see that ocean that once offered some protection to America, no longer did. Anyone who has studied FDR, which we know that poor Bobby has not, knows this. FDR spent his Presidency evolving. He tried ANYTHING that he thought would move America forward. He supported Unions and was seen as a traitor to his class. Due to the economic conditions of today, he would have supported the workers in Wisconsin. There is no doubt about that. But as to poor Bobby. He attacks because he is a "less than". He can not compete. Therefore, he tries to diminish others so that he might reassure himself. I feel sorry for him.
American,
He said it last night on Bill Maher. I don't have the exact words - thus the 'coinage' reference.
I went to work for Arthur Andersen out of college and a good friend became a state auditor. I made almost 10K more in the first year than she did. Public employees, especially teachers tend to be completely UNDERPAID by comparison to other jobs requiring a Bachelors Degree and especially a Masters degree. You know who else is underpaid comparatively? Social workers. Their case loads are unreasonable and their pay is miniscule. So yep, if the STATE bargained with and agreed to certain benefits, that is an OBLIGATION. Not deferred maintenance like so many other assets. Giving tax breaks to cronies and creating a 'crisis' is the height of fiscal irresponsibility, but hey - he's a Repub, did anyone REALLY expect anything different?
Sad, and yet I expect nothing less of Beverly and others, that you blindly listen to your liberal media idols like Maddow and the lies they spread. Try something other than MSNBC, thinkprogress, huffington, etc for once.
http://politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2011/feb/18/rachel-maddow/rachel-maddow-says-wisconsin-track-have-budget-sur/
CJS-1051766
Sad, and yet I expect nothing less of Beverly and others, that you blindly listen to your liberal media idols like Maddow and the lies they spread. Try something other than MSNBC, thinkprogress, huffington, etc for once.
Did you even read the whole poltifact?
Meanwhile, what about Maddow’s claim -- also repeated across the liberal blogosphere -- that Walker’s tax-cut bills approved in January are responsible for the $137 million deficit?
Lang’s fiscal bureau report and news accounts addressed that issue as well.
The tax cuts will cost the state a projected $140 million in tax revenue -- but not until the next two-year budget, from July 2011 to June 2013. The cuts are not even in effect yet, so they cannot be part of the current problem.
Got that CJS-1051766
The confusion, it appears, stems from a section in Lang’s memo that -- read on its own -- does project a $121 million surplus in the state’s general fund as of June 30, 2011.
Here’s the bottom line:
There is fierce debate over the approach Walker took to address the short-term budget deficit. But there should be no debate on whether or not there is a shortfall. While not historically large, the shortfall in the current budget needed to be addressed in some fashion.
WALKER’S TAX CUTS WILL BOOST THE SIZE OF THE PROJECTED DEFICIT IN THE NEXT BUDGET, BUT THEY’RE NOT PART OF THIS PROBLEM AND DID NOT CREATE IT.
Still a give away
Did you read it all...and did you read what you posted? Proves my point when Maddow says he 'created' this. You just quoted.... "Walker’s tax cuts will boost the size of the projected deficit in the next budget, but they’re not part of this problem and did not create it."
As always you only snip out what you like to make it appear as you like it.
"In writing it when it was released, reporters from the Journal Sentinel and Associated Press had put the shortfall at between $78 million and $340 million. That’s the projection for the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2011."
"The confusion, it appears, stems from a section in Lang’s memo that -- read on its own -- does project a $121 million surplus in the state’s general fund as of June 30, 2011.
But the remainder of the routine memo -- consider it the fine print -- outlines $258 million in unpaid bills or expected shortfalls in programs such as Medicaid services for the needy ($174 million alone), the public defender’s office and corrections. Additionally, the state owes Minnesota $58.7 million under a discontinued tax reciprocity deal.
The result, by our math and Lang’s, is the $137 million shortfall."
lets continue then.....
"It would be closer to the $340 million figure if the figure included the $200 million owed to the state’s patient compensation fund, a debt courts have declared resulted from an illegal raid on the fund under former Gov. Jim Doyle."
You, like Maddow, state that Walker made up this deficit to try and destroy the middle class and unions. He did not make the fiscal budget that ends in June. Thank the former Democratic Gov. Doyle. You also conveniently left out the last part .....
"We rate Maddow’s take False."
No CJS-1051766
I didn't snip purposely I saw that. Although, the site is nonpartisan. my point was to illustrate how the Gov is blaming the unions with fear and hate to stir up tea baggers. never mind that we blame the why Bush destroyed the economy; blame the unions right?
The Gov won't remove the language from the bill that threatens the existence of all public employee unions in the state. this model is for all republic governors to destroy democracy as we know it.
Union officials said Friday they will offer concessions. So why is Gov Walker going on FOX NOISE saying he won't meet them? Simple, he wants to union bust instead of taking the collective bargaining out.
Isn't that the the "REPUBLICAN WAY" take the country back to pre labor days and put money in the richest pocket.
See now, I know you are getting upset because you just branched off into your usual... blaming Bush, 'tea-baggers' as you call them, and Fox news. You can't be that upset because otherwise more Koch Brothers, Palin and Beck would have been in there. :)
He isn't blaming unions and didn't stir up tea partiers. I believe that is a response to the unions, teamsters, and the media, and the circus they have turned this into. He is trying to cut the state deficit. And even if he is taking a shot at unions... look at what Democratic Gov. Doyle did. In the process of taking the state deficit from $3.2B up to $3.5B (or $3.6 depending on where you read it), he attacked the unions and cut education funding as well.
"On May 7, 2009, Doyle controversially announced that the state budget was in such severe straits he was laying off 700 state workers and would lay off another 400 if state employee unions did not consent to the revocation of their contractually-scheduled June 2% raises. He also announced that all state employees would be furloughed for 16 days without pay over the next two years. His budget also raised property taxes by 4.2% mainly due to cutting state funding for education." (wikipedia)
Why is there no negotiation on this? I don't know. Maybe there will be. From what I have seen on this, Walker did offer a chance for negotiations earlier and the unions balked. Now when they saw he was 'serious' about this they offered concessions and he said no, they had their chance before.
And no I'm sorry I don't believe you were only illustrating the point of Walker blaming the unions. You started by quoting Wisconsin Gov. Walker Ginned Up Budget Shortfall To Undercut Worker Rights
So your point was he was lying, made up the deficit and unions were gonna pay for it .... which isn't the truth.
He isn't blaming unions and didn't stir up tea partiers. I believe that is a response to the unions, teamsters, and the media, and the circus they have turned this into.
Are telling me you don't Watch FOX NOISE?
Bill O'Reilly:"Wisconsin Has A $3.6 Billion Shortfall Through 2013 And Simply Cannot Afford To Pay Its Bills ... And Public Workers Are The First Ones To Take The Hit. what A Surprise!!!!!
http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/oreilly/transcript/insurrection-wisconsin?page=2
The so-called genius Paul Ryan blames the unions too.
Karl Rove turn to blast President Obama and operatives for endorsement of perhaps illegal activity in Wisconsin union protests.

Since unions have conceded Walker has his chance too; now doesn't he?
My conclusion; the GOP/TP PARTY is serious about union busting via Koch brothers instructions. Wisconsin is proving it just eight gonna happen imo; TEA BAGGERS ARE UNION MEMBERS TOO.
And no I'm sorry I don't believe you were only illustrating the point of Walker blaming the unions. You started by quotingWisconsin Gov. Walker Ginned Up Budget Shortfall To Undercut Worker Rights

That's just too bad you don't believe since I was not aware of the update which came out on the 19th from politifact.

Now when they saw he was 'serious' about this they offered concessions and he said no, they had their chance before
Republican legislators -- who had been poised to pass the governor’s plan Thursday, and might yet do so – were clearly paying attention. Two GOP senators broke with the governor, at least to some extent. Dale Schultz from rural southeastern Wisconsin and Van Wanggaard from the traditional manufacturing center of Racine, proposed an alternative bill that would allow limited bargaining rights for public employees on wages, pensions and health care for the next two years but allow them to continue to bargain on other issues.
http://budget.wispolitics.com/2011/02/schultz-wanggaard-proposing-changes-to.html
My conclusion: AGAIN...
The GOP/TP PARTY IS serious about union busting via Koch brothers instructions. Wisconsin is proving it just AIN'T gonna happen IMO; some working TEA BAGGERS ARE UNION MEMBERS TOO and are waking up.
Besides, the GOP/TP PARTY are failed politicians without leadership and Gov Walker is a meat-head trying to score one FOX NOISE.
Sorry, time ran out before I could elaborate on my point.
Beverly: CJS is missing the larger point. The unions have conceded on pay. What they are trying to do is to protect their rights with collective bargaining. But, people like CJS simply do not care about the giveaways to Walker's buddies, the corporate masters as long as he breaks the unions. They are also too naive to get that if Walker succeeds at this, there will be a race to the bottom with pay and benefits, and the middle class as we know it will no longer exist. That could quickly affect CJS or family members, and at that point he/she might at long last understand that this attack was serious, and should have been taken seriously. Or not. It never ceases to amaze me how people cling to the chains that bind them. Like that will exempt them from the pain to follow.
There is a distinction everyone is missing in the argument about collective bargaining rights for public and private union members.
If you own a company with unionized labor, you sit down with the labor negotiators, and you bargain based on YOUR earnings. Raises, benefits, pensions- all come from your pocket. You control how the company grows; thus, you control the profits or losses.
In negotiations with public unions, the people who pay for these raises, benefits, and pensions do NOT have a seat at the table. Who are they?
Taxpayers.
Now, an argument can be made that the taxpayers are represented by their elected officials.
That is exactly the situation in Wisconsin. The taxpayers elected Walker and a Republican legislature- they campaigned on doing what they are doing.
So, who is objecting? The unions- whose actions are being fomented by the White House.
This week, we will see what the people have to say about Obama's interjecting himself into this mess. The daily tracking polls will tell us what we need to know about the electorate's approval- or lack thereof.
NBC may not be carrying the story, but it is all over every other newscast and website- including the Huffington Post.
I do believe it will be a losing strategy.
Good Morning Girlz!
Nice work keeping the rumor & innuendo mongers at bay!
NDD - I see you're the object of bobby's 'desire' this weekend! lol Two weeks ago he spent ALL day Saturday blogging about the 'evil' feisty redhead!
Leads one to believe he should first, get a life and second, upgrade to at least some decent scotch!
Welcome to my 'nightmare'! lmao!
PS: Anyone else see where Governor Walker spent 4 years at Marquette with a 2.59 GPA and NEVER graduated?
More celebration of mediocrity & stupidity!
PPS: Bev - the weather SUCKS here today! :o(
Hi, Feisty! Not going to be nice here either. Yeah, poor bobby. He tries SO hard to get attention, but he is so predictable and boring. If he can't insult the ladies, he just isn't happy. And did you see that our friend no jo is now fancying herself an attorney? Walker didn't graduate? Isn't that typical? That explains the simpleminded black and white facile response to the problems in WI. Why is it that the "teabaggers" heroes are always the undereducated? Limbaugh, all of them? Later, Feisty!
There is an excellent case to be made that, had we lost George Washington, we would have lost the Revolutionary War.
A similar, more compelling case, can be made that, had we lost General, ( later president), Grant, we might have lost the Civil War.
A pretty compelling case can be made that, had we lost Patton, we would have lost the Battle of the Bulge, and the outcome of the war in Europe would have been in question.
So, tell me, what does it mean for the unions, and, by extraction, Obama and the DNC, to have lost Joe Klein- a writer so far left he cannot see the middle?
http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2011/02/18/wisconsin-the-hemlock-revolution/
Elections have consequences- something democrats seem to misunderstand. America, in general, has rejected not just your message, but your agenda.
It's getting to the point that I don't think Obama's mother- in- law will vote to reelect him.
Beverly, I certainly won't change your mind, likewise you won't change mine.
But to answer you.... No I do not sit around watching Fox News, nor MSNBC, CNBC, or CNN. The only thing possibly more infuriating than those 'news' stations full of opinions, spin, and very little 'real news' is coming here and seeing everyone swear up and down their 'news' outlet tells the truth and all the others are liars. Which is why I normally don't post here even if I read it daily. Yesterday seemed to be the exception. Personally I just don't like getting sucked up into the hate and spew.
On that note, newday.... I almost bit. But I won't. I prefer not to waste my entire Sunday afternoon letting you know what I do or don't know, and what will, won't, does, or doesn't affect my family and I.
Now I have to go see if we are going to watch 'good ol' boys' drive in circles at 200mph and try not to kill themselves, OR 'boxing on ice' aka hockey. Hehe
I'll try to enjoy whats left of the weekend and hope the rest of you can too.
Except CJS, you already DID show us what you don't know. But, that is fine, one can always enjoy a prejudice about what others are seeing. I am having a FINE weekend, just came in from my barn, where it is nice and warm, and the horses are happily going through some really nice hay. And we all hope that you enjoy your weekend too.
CJS-1051766
Beverly, I certainly won't change your mind, likewise you won't change mine.
In this case you are so correct;WATSON.
Personally I just don't like getting sucked up into the hate and spew.
Based upon your statements about the unions I find you incredibly hard to believe.
@Dr. NO NO Jo
This week, we will see what the people have to say about Obama's interjecting himself into this mess. The daily tracking polls will tell us what we need to know about the electorate's approval- or lack thereof.
Lets look at this one for now...
Labor Unions: Good for Workers, Not for U.S. Competitiveness
February 17, 2011
Americans express mixed views of the impact of labor unions on salaries and working conditions, international competitiveness, job availability and productivity.
About half (53%) say unions have had a positive effect on the salaries and benefits of union workers, while just 17% say they have had a negative effect. Views are similar about the impact of unions on working conditions for all workers (51% positive, 17% negative)

What do think of Republicans funding NASCAR and defunding eduction? Strange isn't it Republicans would misplace their family values;now isn't it?
Good afternoon Girlfriends,
The week hasn't even begun yet and it's getting crazy.
Can anyone believe this twit; Sarah Palin?
States were not in a position to grow government and take on new financial commitments then, and now the chickens have come home to roost. As goes Wisconsin today, so goes the country tomorrow.
Is she talking about the fact that Germany nows gets 60% of the NYSE? If so she is correct and making the rich richer makes US colonist again to other countries. Why can't Tea baggers stop trying to repeat yesteryear?

She is so out of touch. In reality, however, the German exchange would actually own 60 percent of the overall entity and as it is currently structured would be the acquirer.
After over more than 200 years ago in 1792, the NYSE was formed by a union called the Buttonwood Agreement in New York City. This woman is out of her tree.
Bristol must be using Google to feed Sarah blather again!
clara - thanks for your reply, will try to see if maher has a repeat of the interview in the net
What Month and it isn’t but about half over yet and I’m already ‘bout wore slam out. The Come Back Inn has turned into such a resounding success that me and the Partners can hardly keep up. First it was fixing all the Chandeliers after the Super Bowl. Tell you what I’m still finding Terrible Towels in some of the strangest places. Then last weekend it was the Egyptian crowd that rented the Banquet Room. They weren’t half as rowdy as the Super Bowl Crowd and the Chandeliers held up a whole lot better but they brought all the cousins and in-laws and the place was full plumb up to the Rafters. Even had to turn some Dude named Mubarak away when he showed up without a Reservation. Judging by the frown on his and his retinues face there’s some repeat customers we can’t count on for the future.
Hadn’t but just got things straightened out and this crowd of about 14 or 15 showed up from up north somewhere looking for a place to set awhile and enjoy a little piece and quiet and stay out of sight out of mind. They weren’t to specific on where they were from so I didn’t press the issue. Bunch of fellows showed up this morning looking for a group about that size but they looked like Revenuers so I kind of sent them on up on the Trail with a description of old Sanford to keep them busy. We do protect our patron’s identities down at the two Inn’s as best we can.
Down at the Dew Drop Inn we have already declared this is Cheese Head Weekend. Been down to the store and got a couple of those big old Wisconsin sharp Cheddar Hoops to set on the Bar to snack on. There’s a whole raft of big old Mountain Boys waving Terrible Towels waiting out front just waiting to introduce you”ll to the pleasures of Iron City, Rolling Rock and Boilermakers made with that good old Freedom Lightin’. If you’re from Wisconsin you won’t be able to buy your own drink this weekend
Drive – By I’m thinking we need a little bit of that old Working Man’s Anthem to start us off this weekend. How about Johnny Paycheck “Take This Job and Shove It” loud and proud. I don’t know about you’ll but Me and the boys up on the Hill are getting right tired of being called thieves for just asking for a fair days wage for a fair days work. We ain’t never asked nobody for a dang thing that wasn’t due to us.
As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week
Barkeep set everybody up a round somebody throw a Quarter in the music machine and let’s get this little shindig started before the RH ex ST figures out where I’m at and drags me back up on the Hill.
'Take this Job & SHOVE IT' is 'just right'!
We also have to make sure we got ol' Dolly's 'Working 9 to 5'!
Now - didn't I tell you we should have reinforced those rafters prior to opening? ;o)
You have a great weekend as well IR!
You really are very witty and quite a good writer.
Already put in some 4 by steel beams for our more energetic patrons Red. Got tired of rehanging the doggone things. You are bringing the that Popcorn cheese flavored ................On another note I'm hearing that somebody is busing in a whole lot of Yahoo's up there in Wisconsin in hopes of disruption and general all around chicanery. You'll keep your powder dry and your temper in check up there so nobody gets hurt. We're all standing with you if not in person then in our thoughts.
Who sang "Working in a Coal Mine"? I hope he is on the juke box, too.
Looking forward to Happy Hour, although I'm a champagne kind of gal. A wave of the Terrible Towel (I have an original one from the 70s) to our friends from Wisconsin.
Thanks to Mark, Domenico and Ali for another great week of political discourse and for making this site so special.
Why thank you Lisa. Stop on by for Happy Hour and your first setup is on me. Have no fear my dear I'm old enough to be basically harmless. You know what they say" Ain't no fool like an old Fool"
Finest WI Cheddar money can buy & some beer brats to boot! ;o)
Someone needs to fire up the 'barbie'!
Workin' in a coal mine

Lord I am so tired
How long can this go on Lee Dorsey I do believe he's on B 16 ............................................ Tennessee Ernie " Sixteen Tons" E 7
Thanks to Mark, Domenico, Ali for keeping political junkies happy.
Have a nice weekend, everyone. I'm thinking First Read will be off Monday for President's Day. Now I'm heading to the Dew Drop for some of that fine Wisconsin cheese IR fetched, and a nice gin and tonic with a twist of lime. Sixteen tons, always liked that song. Seems like a good one to play for the WI public employees--"I owe my soul to the company store."
Independent Redneck Va.
My mom may her soul RIP loved 16 tons. Now I think I know why. She played it just about every morning before she left for school.
Bev my Dear Mother sang along with old Ernie till she wore the groves out on the record. Be good this weekend Ace
IR, you are so funny, great post. Revenuers!
Jody isn't there a song that goes something like " if I couldn't laugh then I would go insane" Good Weekend to the Iowa Ace
BTW Red Miss Dolly (bless her assets) "Nine to Five" A 8
Hey, IR, keep a spot open for me, and I think I would like a beer to toast the brave folk in Wisconsin! What oh what have we learned this week? Egypt is now looking to settle the larger issues as they have declared their freedom from a dictator, we wish those folks well as they begin the road to a new country. Not to be outdone, our friends in Wisconsin have said "ENOUGH" with a resounding vigor that is heard all over this great nation, as a Governor, duly elected, made it his first order of business to attack the fine people of that state. IR, if those 14 or 15 are from, well, you know, set them up on the house at the dear old Dew Drop Inn from their friend newdayDAWNING. I know you have made available the Come Back Inn too. Those of you reading this had better understand that if those workers in Wisconsin lose this battle, YOUR job and YOUR security is next. This is nothing but pay back from Walker to his corporate masters, and I imagine there is some serious buyers remorse in Wisconsin along about now. In other news, "teabaggers" in South Dakota have proposed a law so vague that it could be that lives of abortion providers are threatened. It never ceases to amaze me that the "get the Federal Govt. off our backs" crowd have absolutely no problem with insisting on controlling the reproductive choices of families. It is simply this people, mind your own business and trust that folks make the best decisions for themselves and their families. Freedom marches on in the middle East, and it will be interesting to see how all that shakes out. And we can't forget, that here, John Boehner reminds all of us how little he cares about Joe and Joan America and their jobs. According to Boehner, if they lose their jobs because the Republican Party wants to kill off the Federal Government (never mind that the Constitution was written to centralize that government) "so be it". Amen, John, and perhaps your voters will decide that YOUR job should go to someone else in Ohio. That's it for me this week. It has been interesting, my thanks to my hosts for providing this spot for us to discuss the issues. Feisty, Beverly and Jody, I am headed your way. The barn work is done, and I am ready to party. IR, see you there! Have a good weekend everyone.
Sorry NewDay that's just silly.
It's not their jobs they are complaining about, it's their place at the tit. Sorry, but the tit has gone dry.
Why do I think that distinction is totally lost on you?
IR -
I think that "insane" song is F3 in the old box - "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" by the great Jimmy Buffett - right behind "Margaritaville" and "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". If we get four tunes for a dollar, then I'll take those three and then hit that E7 and do old Tennessee Ernie one more time for me too.
And Jody's right - those revenuers cracked me up!
As always, IR - you laid the RIGHT tracks down! When Ms Elly goes looking for ole' "I ain't here" we'll help you get on home!
We need to talk about some party favors,...I may call you over the weekend. I need to make 100 hamentachen for a GS event next weekend. And my audit for one of my charities is tomorrow afternoon. If you haven't heard from me by Sunday,...don't panic.
Feisty et al - I am ready to fire up some HSR and head on up to Madison to form the solidarity society!
Repubs have apparently decided to reinvent the culture wars:
Union Busting
Women's Rights (especially abortion)
Poor people CHOOSE to be poor
It never ends with this crew. Until they have ALL of the wealth concentrated to the 2% - of course by THEN it will only be 1%; but half of 'em won't even know what hit them, because - well, who will be left to stand with them?
Happy Weekend, all! And to the FR hosts, many thanks - You've created a GREAT playground!
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Not to worry Feisty Red Head, your DNC apparently bussed in loads of "street people" to protest in your place. Are homeless street people union members too? Not quite certain. And if the DNC has involvement in the WI protest process, and the President a member of the DNC leadership, does this make the President a partisian against the states right process?
Funny I always figured from the time Rahm announced his running he'd win in a landslide. Some people on here like Jeff-1541632 said he wasn't a Chicago insider, didn't have the connections to the Chicago machine, and wouldn't win.
In my opinion, according to everything I've seen, seems I was right. Rahm will ride the wave of Obama support in Chicago and win it... even if it isn't on the first ballot.
CJS - Make NO doubt about it, Rahm WILL be the next mayor of the great city of Chicago!
Please Insult Me!
Sheesh. Could you have the decency to give him at least a week to wreck it?
Independent Redneck Va.
I can't think of a better way to top my weekend off without stopping in at The Come Back Inn aftr I leave the Dew Drop.
BTW: did the 14 democrats stop off there before they came to Illinois?
I'll see you in a little while.
Have a nice weekend
LOL - I offered them political asylum in my home earlier today! Looks like they're in it for the LONG haul!
Thank GOD!
Bev Don't know if their Democrats. They didn't say and I didn't ask. Plausible Deniability don't ya know I don't want Old Walker getting the idea that he might need to Waterboard me or something
Independent Redneck Va.
Bev Don't know if their Democrats. They didn't say and I didn't ask. Plausible Deniability don't ya know I don't want Old Walker getting the idea that he might need to Waterboard me or something
LOL you know how tea baggers love their waterboarding.
Only an act of God could prevent it. I guess Chicagoans thrive on corruption.
Speaking of corruption, even ABC is reporting on Obama's involvement in the labor unrest, and his spreading it to other states.
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/president-obama-national-democrats-mobilize-state-employee-protests/t/story?id=12949812
Wonder how long before somebody questions the legality? Or the first lawsuit is filed?
Be interesting if all the money Obama raises gets confiscated to pay punitive damages for tortious interference.
Gee I don't know NJNB - at the very least it should keep you on the edge of your seat!
No doubt, it's the closet thing you've had to 'anticipation'... in years...
Let's face it - there's nothing 'sexy' about granny panties! ;o)
No Jo stay the hell out of Chicago business, and worry about governor blow hole,
Stay the hell out of chicago business as long as you idolize a man who want to reverse brown verses board of ed. Clarence Thomas and his skank wife.
Stay the hell out of Chicago business as long as you make fun of a community organizer Martin Luther King.
Stay the hell out of Chicago business as long as you idolize bull Connor!!!
Stay the hell of out business as long as jersey is a toxic waste dump!!!
Ok!!!!
no joe, no bo, nj
Only an act of God could prevent it. I guess Chicagoans thrive on corruption.
Speaking of corruption, even ABC is reporting on Obama's involvement in the labor unrest, and his spreading it to other states.
Did you miss the real corruption, those yahoos, the Koch brothers are sending to Wisconsin?
The Koch brothers are corruption in the purest sense of the word. They have polluted the planet; and minds like yours, as well as ripped/ing off the masses of people.
I applaud our President and his solidarity.
Please Insult Me!
Jeff, now correct me if I wrong but, I take you want No Jo to stay the heII out of Chicago business.
Yes i do, so far this past 2 weeks she has insulted the legecy of martin Luther King as a community organizer and any one who was one including president Obama, she has accused black for being racist toward Clarence Thomas because he is a Conservative and has a white wfie but the real reason, why black hate this guy is because he has done everything in his power to reverse Brown verses Education and getting rid of affirmative action programs even though his nasty A8s took advantage of these very programs to get in Yale.
this morning she want a investigation accusing president Obama for busing in people to Wisconsin even though these tactics were used by martin Luther King in alabama against Bull Connor.
she being a former educator want is infavor of getting rid of funding for Public television, i can go on and on.
the topper is her governor blow hole who canceled a project knowing the feds gave the former governor 271 million for engineering studys and now is suing the feds in order not to give it back. considering the deficts we have now, and all the railing she does about deficts she is the ultimate hypricrate.
she needs to stay out of chicago business untill she becomes a human again.
Please Insult Me! does this explain why i feel this way.
LOL - I don't believe she was EVER human! Impossible when you have acid flowing through your veins!
Since we're all on 'ignore' with her - does this constitute talkin behind her back? Cool!
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
The Clarence Thomas stuff really get in my skin!!!!
after she accused black for being racist toward him i posted a ruling he wrote regarding about the fact he tried to reverse Brown v- Board showing his bias against black people she Ignored it.
CLARENCE THOMAS GAVE US SEXUAL HARASSMENT LAWS, THE GUY HE REPLACES GAVE US BROWN V- BOARD OF EDUCATION. ENOUGH SAID!!!!! AND JUSTICE MARSHALL DID NOT HAVE A SKANK WIFE.
ABC News: “Organizing for America, Obama's campaign arm now under the umbrella of the DNC, has been mobilizing union members and supporters to rally against a proposed Wisconsin budget measure that would strip workers of collective bargaining rights and force them to contribute more for benefits.”
So the President isn’t directly involved thus no tortious (unlawful) interference.
Here is a link that works:

And let me just say she and Republican/tea baggers took to attacking former Justice Thurgood Marshall, a civil rights hero during Elena Kagan's Supreme Court confirmation hearings. Thurgood Marshall was a leader of those forces whose faith in the Constitution and the American Dream dismantled the perverse empire of Jim Crow - with its separate and unequal schools and colleges, its rigidly segregated neighborhoods, and its profoundly unequal opportunity in every sector of American life. I'm glad their mass exodus into that fear zone is causing their evil empire to crumble.
What a bunch of scary xenophobes.
What we need is love, peace, understanding, social and economic justice to protect us all; not No jo's and tea bagger inference of ignorance.
I'm LMAO when I flip over to Radio Rwamda aka tea bagger/republican campaign headquarters trying to capture a new fear factor

To No Jo, Thurgood Marshall was nothing but a trouble maker, the same was said about MLK from Bull Conor.
No offense intended, but it sounds like someone might want to bring a Midol to the Dew Drop tonight for Jeff.
If your drunk blogging display from last Friday night is any indication - YOU should hold onto it!
It'll come in handy!
Bottoms up there bobby!

No offense intended, but it sounds like someone might want to bring a Midol to the Dew Drop tonight for Jeff.
No Bob I drink scotch!!!! on my way to get some right now.
have a good weekend!!!
No Jo, Could you explain what tortious interference is?
Probably not.
Anyway, it's a legal term which means wrongful interference. A tort is a civil offense involving an injury to property or person, like trespass, invasion of privacy, assault, or defamation (libel or slander). A private lawsuit for compensation for injuries received in a car accident is a tort suit. That's mostly what trial lawyers do. I don't think President's Obama's actions qualify as tortious interference. I haven't researched it, however, and I suppose it's possible that there's an obscure statute out there that might somehow apply. But that would probably make it criminal, rather than tortious.
On the other hand, to the extent President Obama "interfered" with this dispute, no joe, it might not have been the way you think. I saw it just the opposite. If anything, I found his remarks more discouraging than encouraging.
Sure. It's third party interference in the obligation of a party to fulfill a contract. So, if I contract with you to paint my living room, give you a deposit, and my neighbor goes out of her way to convince you not to do the job, and you allow her to interfere, I have a case of tortious interference with her.
In this case, OfA and the DNC, at the direction of the White House, have supplied the means, ( buses), and the message, ( Twitter feeds, Facebook page, phone banks), to encourage teachers, who are state employees, to engage in an unlawful wildcat strike.
Open and shut tortious interference.
Had it explained to me by my son, who, like somebody else, was editor of the law review at his law school.
Graduated top of his class from there, too.
Gosh No Jo I got a pretty little Black Angus Bull Calf that finished first in his class down at the State Fair last year. Does that Qualify me as a legal expert too?
I think you heard it on the Radio NJ NB. Sounds like one of those twisted Beck black board outlines.
The scare crow, the lion and the tin man conspired with Dorothy against the nice witch from the west and brought down her business empire and eliminated jobs that she created.
I love it! no jo just said 'at the direction of the White House' like she has some kind of inside knowledge of this. Tell us, no jo, how do you know this? Do you have some friend or relative who works there? Seems you always have some kind of inside information about everything that goes on in the world. You're always claiming to have some friend or relative 'on the spot'.
Or are you still the fraud you have always been?
Matthew, I have been posting links all day- from Politico, the Washington Post, and, last, ABC news.
Remember that little White House chat Obama had with Tim Kaine this week? Supposed to be about the senate seat in Virginia?
Then, right after that, the DNC and OfA mobilized the troops. How weird is that?!?!
By the way, the headlines of each of these stories begins President Obama and DNC . . .
First Read does not print it. Media matters does not print it.
Huffington Post prints it- how weird is that!
He was caught- probably does not even realize he did anything wrong.
Might not have aced tortious interference.
Matthew, There is a link up at post 5.8 showing that Obama's campaign arm is doing this and they don't do nothing without Obama's input. They is why they are called HIS campaign arm. And since he resides at the White House, it is at the direction of the White House.
Once again, no proof of 'at the direction of the White House', just assumptions byt the fraud and her accomplise. Proof, people would be a memo, a quote, a direct statement. No wonder you guys are always never backing up what you say, you do not understand what constitutes proof.
Ahh Matthew, is this ignorance or just a diregard for the facts?
How about this - google the Texas state jury instructions on evidence. They will provide you a nice guideline on what is, and what is not proof.. Cause brother, it ain't what you say it is.
You are familiar with circumstantial proof, correct?
circumstantial evidence, is never a proof. You may rightly or wrongly assign guilt based upon it, but that still may not constitute proof.
Paul? Circumstantial evidence is never proof? Dude. Please.
I get you have never been to law school, and have never tried a case. So maybe you leave these discussions to those of us who have and you stop basing everything on tv shows. Cause brother, it is not working for you. Ignorance is no excuse. It's actually the law, but I suspect you don't know that.
Circumstantial evidence has been used to gain convictions of people who were later PROVEN innocent by DNA testing. So much for your circumstantial PROOF. Evidence is not proof, spankster.
What a coincidence, no joe. I was a law review editor, too, and graduated in the top tier of my class. Did your son also have a small child when he was going to law school, like I did?
What's your point?
Oh, and by the way, no joe -- a judge in Dane County ruled today that the demonstrations are not a "strike," and they are NOT -- I'll repeat it slowly for you no joe -- N O T -- illegal.
Too bad, so sad, no joe. Did you get one that from your brilliant son, too? I guess he must have taken the dumbed down course in strikes in order to keep that grade point up. Me, I was just working for the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission, which enforces the labor laws for public sector employees, and the woman who is now Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
I didn't realize Oral Roberts University had a Law School? Weird.
At any rate, nojo MUST be referring to a DIFFERENT son than the underachiever she was 'bragging' about yesterday,...
These stories are like tidal waves,...they'll be another 'more impressive' one soon to take your mind off the last one,...ha ha
nojo - celebrating mediocrity DAILY, and then using that expertise as FACT - for over three years running now. The only thing she doesn't share with Palin is the desire to Quit. They don't seem to have a problem sharing the same brain, however.
So, let me get this straight, AM- all those school districts closed because the teachers did not show up for work, ( and, I just read that the state teachers' union is calling for ALL teachers to stay out next week), and some judge in one county says it is not a strike? Where did that judge go to law school?
I may not be a lawyer, but when it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and is constantly seen in the company of ducks, I conclude that it is, in fact, a duck.
By the way, for your edification

Top 10 Shocking Attacks from the GOP War on Women
1) Republicans not only want to reduce women's access to abortion care, they're actually trying to redefine rape. After a major backlash, they promised to stop. But they haven't.
2) A state legislator in Georgia wants to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to "accuser." But victims of other less gendered crimes, like burglary, would remain "victims."
3) In South Dakota, Republicans proposed a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care. (Yep, for real.)
4) Republicans want to cut nearly a billion dollars of food and other aid to low-income pregnant women, mothers, babies, and kids.
5) In Congress, Republicans have proposed a bill that would let hospitals allow a woman to die rather than perform an abortion necessary to save her life.
6) Maryland Republicans ended all county money for a low-income kids' preschool program. Why? No need, they said. Women should really be home with the kids, not out working.
7) And at the federal level, Republicans want to cut that same program, Head Start, by $1 billion. That means over 200,000 kids could lose their spots in preschool.
8) Two-thirds of the elderly poor are women, and Republicans are taking aim at them too. A spending bill would cut funding for employment services, meals, and housing for senior citizens.
9) Congress voted yesterday on a Republican amendment to cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood health centers, one of the most trusted providers of basic health care and family planning in our country.
10) And if that wasn't enough, Republicans are pushing to eliminate all funds for the only federal family planning program. (For humans. But Republican Dan Burton has a bill to provide contraception for wild horses. You can't make this stuff up).
Of course, some have been discussed here; but, does she actually even realize the impact. More importantly, will she agree to these consequences?
Hi, Beverly! Happy Saturday! We are awaiting a bit of a winter storm here, but I enjoyed reading that information. There is no doubt that the Republicans, aka; Taliban lite; are engaged in a war against women and children.

After 60 degrees in February we are awaiting SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY.
Some of these righties supposedly quoting FDR are so desperate to slow down unions they'll pick up any cockamania right wing distortion.
Like Eric Cantor and the Bonehead said it does look like they punted; opps. I mean punked as Aston Kutcher would say. haha
newday
I meant to wish you a good evening. I may check in tomorrow. If not, we'll see what nonsense the right will bring Monday.
Did you the union worker on the special Ed Show last night who said FOX LIES after being interviewed by the lying Fox Noise correspondent when asked why are you here? It was hilarious.
I did see it Beverly! It WAS HYSTERICAL! Even funnier since Fox didn't seem to know what to do about it. I get a kick out of the "teabaggers" thinking they can use FDR to support Union Busting. It just won't play, will it? But, they will be back next week to saying that FDR's policies made the depression last longer. Have a good Sunday!
Newday,
Of course, that was the 'slam' of my reference. I also imagine that Jill Tulsa was from there too. he he, It makes me laugh every time!
I love me some Oral Roberts humor,...
I always thought that Jilly went to ORU too! I could get my DOG into Oral Roberts U.
Why on earth would you denigrade Sey in that manner? He is FAR too intelligent!
He pointed out the exact same thing, Clara!

You are so correct the Righties will twist and spin everything they can. For instance, CJS-1051766 refusing to admit the fear and hate Gov Walker's tax-cut bills approval is not the gov's creation. So in January the $137 million deficit is using whether it be today or yesterday he's responsible for fear, hate, and union busting.
The fact is perfectly clear in my mind 4 months from now he still had to pay back his contributors with; thus the tax cuts boost the size of the projected deficit in the next budget from July 2011 to June 2013.
As Olympia Snow would say "What's the Rush"?
Why won't he take the part out about "collective bargaining"? It's because Gov Walker is in a big rush, like most teabaggers, to union bust and create the right's version of democracy; otherwise he would put that on the table instead of refusing to meet with the 14 democrats.
He can go FOX NOISE to be hailed as a union buster straight from the Karl Rove playbook the anti-government Koch Brothers entrusted Karl Rove with.
I have learned to ignore Spanky as much as possible. He is utterly ridiculous.
Hi Beverly: I really believe that people like Walker only talk to other people who believe what he does. He can't take in how these things affect real families, why? As long as he does what his corporate masters dictate, he will always be taken care of. Just that, nothing more. He may start to feel some pain if the good folks in Wisconsin decide to start a recall on the first day they can, and I hope they succeed. It is going to take hitting the "teabaggers" in their pocketbook or through some public humiliation before they get this. As to Spanky? He, bobby and Steve have nothing to add to the discussion ever. I rarely read them, even more rarely respond to them. They use this forum to try to get some strokes to their ego that they miss in real life.

lisa, That is how the liberals work around here. One sentence by one person means that an entire group is guilty by association..
New Jersey also has the Jersey devil living in those woods.
We have barnfires here on Long Beach Island to great stories about the Jersey Devil.
Poor Cleveland! They suffer with the Browns, the Cavs stink without LeBron, the Indians stink..and, now,  worst of all...the President of the entire country, er, that is,  the entire country 's Public Employee Unions,  will visit.......Public employees, the Savior of your do-nothing job and six figure pension is in the house!
If they vote this slimeball in, they get what they deserve. I really hope they're smarter than that.
We'll see.
Sorry I can't come to the dewdrop inn but i'm looking out at the Sea of Cortez but me and hubbie will walk down the beach to our favorite bartender Hector and watch the sunset with a margarita. You all keep warm up there.

Those liberals in Chicago couldn't elect a more pure, moral, or upstanding guy than Dead Fish.
Too funny!!
Come-on this guy looks like a very gay happy fellow it's no surprise he's Obama's buddy!
Rahm will be Chicago mayor because Obama is going to buy it for him. He got Daly so Rahm will have mayorship. It was a trade. Poor Chicago, a truly pure corrupt mayor they will have. Just look at Rahm and that phony smile ... the evil behind that smile.
You know what is so sad, this one President, and with the help of the Democrats, Republicans and Liberals
The Government has managed to take out the United in the United States.
They have separated all of us based on our religion, race, and sexual preference. Reading the things that have been written over the last year (myself included) Our Government has managed to have all of us turn on each other.
This is a time where WE need to stand together to come up with a solution.
The Question is...
How to WE Protect the Employee from being ripped off by the Employer? Unions were designed to protect the worker. But somewhere down the line they became part of the corruption.
So can WE form a new Bill that Protects the Employee, instead of us fighting against each other? We can not allow our Government to make decisions for us anymore. They have done everything they could in the last 10 years to turn us against each other.
Somewhere, some how we need to get our voices heard without all of the fights, and arguments. We need to come together and Unite again.
The Government is ripping us apart, having us turn on one another through issues they know that will touch a nerve.. Things we fight for and believe in.
We cant keep allowing these people to do this to us. We are going to have to take a stand. Find a Solution, and solve the Problem instead of stopping rights away from the American People.
This is another example of how Congress makes it look like its My Way Or No Way..
We need to start our own Revolution against our Government.. We need to get these people out, and replace them with the Ones who truly care about the American People, and where we are heading.
If more of us would stand together, and fight the corruption, and create a strategy with our own demands, we can fight this. Merge the 2 idea's and create a system that will satisfy everyone..
Any idea's how to get that started?
Brenda, many of us felt that the DECIDER had already Un-United us, when the Supremes appointed him and he went on to blunder and fumble incessantly.
But your larger, over arching point is appreciated. Not at all sure how to go about it,...Perhaps refraining from snark would help; but some days, I can't resist.

You are so wrong about your President. It's not environmentalists, labor union members or liberal activists. It's Corporatism the Tea Party supports .

HERE is the ANSWER
http://turnofffox.org/static/images/logo.png
You have to understand the republican are greedy. The Koch Brothers are greedy. The republicans are serial -lying obstructionist willing to destroy this President and country at the behest of the multinational corps just to get back in the White house.
proof:
http://dummr.files.wordpress.com/2010/09/t-party.jpg?w=199&h=242
Yes, Brenda. Our great country is a mess. We are no longer united.
I think we can get started when both sides start thinking rationally and admit:
That George Soros, through MoveOn.org spent millions of dollars for Democratic causes, which was his right to do so -- as the Koch Brothers are spending millions of dollars for conservative causes, and it is their right to do so.
That Fox leans right as MSNBC and PBS lean left.
That Mitch McConnell was as wrong to state it is his only goal to see Barack Obama is a one term president, as was George Soros when he announced his sole purpose was to remove George Bush from office.
That the Republicans from 2001 to 2006 spent too much money ineffectively putting us in to debt. For this, they lost control. Just as the Democrats 2007-2009 spent too much money ineffectively putting us in to debt, and they lost control.
That the union employee wants a representative to negotiate on their behalf and believes there’s safety in numbers; and a private sector employee wants to be judged as an individual and control his own success.
That the public union employees in Wisconsin have the right to protest and rally and express their dismay, as the Tea Party had the right to protest and rally and express their opinion. Neither group should be belittled, or disrespected. Each group are made up of Americans.
That the public union employees expect their contracts to be honored and General Motors bond holders thought their contracts should have been honored.
That there are people that need help and there are people that abuse the system.
That some people believe in God or religion. That some do not. Each should be accepted. Neither should be condemned.
That sometimes crazy people are neither Democrats or Republicans. Sometimes they are simply crazy.
That all politicians make promises they can’t and don't intend to keep.
That all politicians at some point will say something incredibly stupid and make a mistake.
That throwing money at problems will generally not fix them.
That half the country trusts the government to make good decisions on behalf of the people, and half of the country thinks individuals should think for themselves.
Each of us can have an opinion, philosophy and ideals. We should listen to each other and try to hear each other. We need to try to understand each other and with some luck, Brenda, we may come up with acceptable solutions.
PBS is left leaning?
Alllrightty then.
I guess it is true what Colbert always says,...
Facts have a liberal Bias,...
Good one, Clara: Candice postures as "above the fray" because it bores her don't you know. Except for those rare occasions when she has a very brief flash of honesty and shows herself to be a "teabagger". Never lasts long, but it can't. "Teabaggers" cannot be honest.
Like I said, we should try to listen to each other and hear each other. If we tried harder to not to entirely miss the point and if we all tried to stay "above the fray,".......we might not feel so divided.
And like I said: You don't.
Obama hasn't tackled the deficit? Boy another hopelessly biased lying corporate owned article. For one Obama has tackled the deficit but has put the unemployment and economy first in his priorities which in my opinion needs to be tackled before the deficit. The party of do nothing don't care about the unemployed as far as Boehnor is concerned, "So be it if those losers lose their jobs."
Jeff, I know MANY people here that have been on "unemployment" for over 2 years and the only time they sweat is when they are waiting for another extension from Sotero. They would not take a job if you begged them. What a joke!!! The only way to get them to "work" is cut off the unemployment. Remember the movie, "Mr. Mom. They are living it!
alghourd,
“have been on unemployment for over 2 years” Really?
You are either ill informed, misleading or just lying. The max anyone can get is 99 weeks.
Chicago deserves evey bit of bs it votes for.
An Obama brown noser?!...of course he'll be elected...this was a done deal before it became news...the election will be only for show...
Will Rahm win? In the Latino community, the votes will probably go to either of the two Latins running. An article in the Sunday paper from a Latino journalist indicates that Rahm is sucking up for the Spanish vote. However, it was brought up by the two Latinos, how Obama and Rahm didn't bring legislation for the criminal aliens right to become Americans. They also listed the meetings with the Latino leaders illustrating the time was not right for criminal alien passage due to the Dems probably losing seats if they proposed the legislation. Then the Latino journalist outlines his radio spot on Latin radio talking about his desire to change the immegration laws. What a joke, but a typical politician ploy, promise them everything and provide none.
I am thankful for not living in Chicago, but then again, I have Governor Moonbeam 2.0 and his merry band of Spending Democrats to content with!
wrong post came up, sorry.
If Chicago elects this corrupt tax dodging socialist then they get what they deserve. Chicago and the state have been RUN by crooks, corrupt politicians, and political machines for decades. Why not more of the same?
Are the residents idiots, or just don't care anymore?
The answer to your 2nd question is yes and yes..... Try reading Cleverly's and Feasty's comments without vomit ending up in the back of your mouth.....LOL
UncleSam-2242573
I'm sorry, but you and your type are the real idiots.
Are the people of Chicago really stupid enough to vote for this crook?
I don't know about everyone in Chicago 96wa6, but I can guess which way two on this site will vote if they reside in Chicago.
This could ONLY happen in the windy city. To see how it got that nickname, read Feasty's and Cleverly's comments. The left has discovered this new disaster, global blabbing.......LOL Deadfish could only get elected in this city. Remember all you out of state voters, dead people, and pets, vote early and vote often..... Oh, it does not matter that he did not live there in the last year, ITS ONLY THE LAW!!!!
I am always amused by those that name themselves "Real American, True American, or anything American" Who are they trying to convince????? Ohhh I know themselves, lmao
