House passes measure stripping Planned Parenthood funding

From NBC's Shawna Thomas and Mark Murray
As expected, Indiana Rep. Mike Pence's (R) amendment to strip federal funding for Planned Parenthood passed the House by a 240-185 vote. Ten Democrats joined the GOP majority, while seven Republicans voted against the measure.

It is very unlikely that the measure would pass the Democratic-controlled Senate.

It's unfortunate that Steve's mom didn't keep her legs closed.

I have a daughter with learning disabilities and poor health who is on Social Security Disability and SSI. She was divorced and raising her 2 children on her own. She ended up having a 3rd child because she ran out of birth control pills and she had no way to pay for more. I was very ill and not living near her, so I was unable to help her with this. When she was 2 months along the father left the state and has been chased by welfare for child support, but he quits jobs as soon as they catch up with him. I wish there had been a planned parenthood facility in her area where she could have gotten birth control. Why do rich men get off denying help to poor women and children? My daughter's oldest son is a very fragile juvenile diabetic with learning disabilities and her other 2 kids are on medications for depression and HDD. She can barely manage to keep the kids fed. Why won't congress help people like her? She is a citizen of this country and is law abiding, who just tries to care for her family.

where's the teapartiers with their "get government out of our business attitude" about everything? oh this is ok with them i guess since not a peep, no chants, no rallies, no marches with hateful signs concerning this issue. yep, it's ok if "government" comes in between the legs of a women and her doctor. how nice of these "saintly and Christian" old men in congress think they are to impose their backwards thinking on today's women...this ain't 1955. they're probably screwing their wives and their mistress on the side. well, if this passes we will probably see more John Edwards scenarios playing out. think about that congressmen!!!

To those who are complaining about pro-life tax payers being "forced to fund abortions" as being unconstitutional - Does that mean it is unconstitutional for anti-war tax payers to fund the military? And don't just rebut by calling me a hippy. I'm actually in the army. But I am indeed pro-choice. But continue to bitch about how you hate big government intervening on your life until it is in line with your particular belief system. It just pisses a bunch of people off and lets them realize how ignorant you really are of what is going on in the world.
