Fake Palin shows up at CPAC, confusing some onlookers

A Sarah Palin impersonator walked the halls at CPAC, confusing throngs of onlookers.

From NBC's Kevin Hurd
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin won't show up at CPAC this year.

But the fake Sarah Palin did.

A woman, who looked and dressed like the famous Republican, started walking around and doing interviews. In fact, she began drawing a crowd. People requested pictures, asked questions, and expressed their support for her.

Mumbles of mixed reactions buzzed through the crowd about her legitimacy. One person said, "That's not the real Palin," while another said, "You bet. That is real, legitimate Palin." Another mentioned checking her latest Twitter status to verify whether or not it was her.

But a staff member escorting the woman around confirmed that, despite her similarity, this was not the real former governor.

Hmm....I'll take Palin - you can keep Sheila Jackson Lee. LOL

Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee — who once famously asked where she could find photos of the American flag that Neil Armstrong planted on Mars — yesterday insisted, in stark defiance of basic facts of history, that “today we have two Vietnams, side by side, North and South, exchanging and working. We may not agree with all that North Vietnam is doing, but they are living in peace.”

I am continually astounded by the level or hatred and vitriol expressed by the Pro-Obama Libs on this site every time Sarah Palin's name is mentioned. It demonstrates two things:

1. You support Obama in name only, as you certainly do not follow his admonition that the hatred and vitriol cease, immediately. Obviously, Obama is NOT a leader since the true test of leadership is getting those you want to lead to follow you. Clearly, this proves that it is YOU, not the right that was and is responsible for what happened to Congresswoman Giffords. Wow, such hate!

2. The left truly fears Sarah Palin. No other explanation exists for such hatred at the mere mention of her name.

I am looking forward to what I hope is the Romney/Palin ticket in 2012. Palin was the ONLY thing McCain got right.

Hey Dave-

Considering how superficially Palin has marketed herself, and considering how, over and over again she has demonstrated how uninformed she is about world and domestic affairs, and has shown no inclination to correct this problem, coupled with the fact that despite all of this, she aspires to be the leader of the most powerful and exceptional country in the world, I would say that she has invited a healthy dose of ridicule.

Skelmcb, the difference is the Dems have never tried to elevate Ms. Lee to higher office. Why they don't quietly try to have her replaced during the primary is beyond me, though I'd wager that it's fear of being labelled racist. She has a very firm grip on her district. She's been an embarrassment to her city, district, State, and race for way too long. When I lived in her district, I voted against her every chance I had - which wasn't that often. She usually runs unopposed, even in the general election.

She has a very loyal following among a few Republicans and that's all she has. Well over 60% of independents can't stand her. The single biggest Republicans could do for Democrats is nominate her for president.

Rincewind, other than the past election (because it's in the past, we're talking about now), where are the Republicans trying to elevate Palin to a higher office? She was having TEA party Republicans run against them in the primaries, why would they rally around her (other than those that she helped)? Currently, she doesn't hold any public office. I don't recall her making any announcement of her running for Presidency. It's pure speculation that she *might* run but it doesn't make it so.

I predict this will be like the 2008 primaries between Hillary & Obama. They'll let her have the limelight for now, but someone else will come along and she will be shoved aside.

@ Mandt--There is some truth in what you say, but for the far left liberals to label her shallow and dumb is just a way to de-humanize her so they don't see her as a person but as a caricature. For all her flaws she's not dumb and even some right-wings have to admit she's an interesting character.

Honestly this is just an example of how polarized politics have become. Liberals and Conservatives go farther and farther away from center, which is where the majority of America is. I see myself as a moderate that leans slightly to the right, but a moderate still. I feel liberals and conservatives are 2 sides of the same coin. Although your political views differ, the way you argue them are exactly the same. Both parties will insult, ridicule, and belittle in attempts to invalidate any opposing views. Take any random politician with a story, whether good or bad, you can determine who will defend or attack them by going straight down party lines.

It's just sad that so many people take so much pleasure in pouring their particular political poison every chance the get.

As a liberal I am terrified of Sarah Palin.

First she has no chance of beating Obama, her being president is not why I fear her. I fear her because every time she opens her mouth she damages our country. When she speaks on Faux News and makes up facts to support her point it damages our country. When she brings cookies to school to counter Michelle Obama's positive message of trying to get our children to eat right it damages our country. When she lies about the health care plan it damages our country. When she stands up and says we need less government regulation on wall street, but more regulation for things like abortion, gay marriage and marijuana it damages our country. She celebrates stupid and loathes academia. She chooses guns over diplomacy and fosters gridlock over compromise. This woman and the way she and her followers think is one reason why we continually fall behind the rest of the world in education, health care, and innovation. That's what scares me about Palin.

I think everyone is so unfair toward Sarah Palin. I am a 70 year old great-grandmother and will definitely vote for her if she runs. I find her delightful and very smart. I have read her books and enjoyed them also and found them to be right-on about DC politics. Politicians are on the whole not to be trusted because they have their own agenda but she appears to have a different take on the whole thing. G O P A L I N !!!!!At least she will be a lot better than what we have now. Our present president is stealing America blind and we don't have the sense to realize it.

Palin is an insult to all past an present working women. Face it, she's a dweeb. What Grandmother has the father of her grandchild FIRED because she doesn't like him. If she didnt care about him providing for his child, what the heck would she have done to the American public as Vice-President?!!! Palin jumped on McCain's bandwaggon because she thought she would get the majority of women's votes. Hurrah, majority of American women. Of course we're not STUPID!!!!

Oh, pleeeeeease help get her the nomination - I would LOVE it if she runs. President Obama wouldn't even have to campaign; he could just keep doing his job and beat Palin without a single fundraiser (but let's not skip the debates - that'd be GREAT television).

That said, I do feel sorry for anyone who thinks ANY Republican won't steal them far blinder than any Democrat. Wait - you're not a multi-millionaire, are you? If you are, then my apologies - you're right - the (once)GOP has your back.

              Julie,

Being president is being able to make sound, intelligent and competent decisions for the entire country. This woman is entirely divisive; she is such a politician that she served as governor for 2 years (such loyalty to state and country) and with her "own agenda" then felt she can make more money by selling "hate" and "deception" - you are so right "SHE DOES HAVE A DIFFERENT TAKE ON THINGS" - - (PLEASE DO NOT COMPARE INTELLIGENCE W/ IGNORANCE). She does have her audience (What do you mean that the president is stealing America blind - do all presidents steal America blind - or is he the first). Funny, it takes "one to know one"- Please do some research on her 1/2 governorship -- why would someone who could not complete her full elected term and who believes in such hate - be trusted with such a highly competent and responsible job as president of the "Free World" !!

I never understand comments like this. If someone was "stealing me blind" how much sense would I need to realize it? Seems like that would be something that just jumps right out at you, not something you need to strain to notice. As far as I can tell (checks wallet) I am doing as good as I have ever been. And I am still waiting on some "leftist" to come knocking on on my door demanding my guns and freedom. I just wish people would provide examples of what is being taken from me, instead of just contributing a vague, general statement. Same goes for liberals that just spout off crazy things without any basis in reality, it's certainly a two-sided story. Limbaugh and others have made a career out of saying things like "Obama is destroying America", and then following with dead air and a different topic. If I can thank my mother for one thing it is teaching me to always ask "why", even if you are asking it of someone you trust. Just blindly following is how sheep walk right off the cliff.

The Tea Baggers do not want to take away your social security. They have Conservatism confused with liberalism.

They have a genetic flaw in their brains and that has been proven.

Cut Medicare programs across the board? Is this the same Republican party you say will do more for grandma then the Democrats? Just what is that stuff your smoking anyway?

With all do respect, con artists target old people for a reason. Con artists look for ways to manipulate strengths and weaknesses. They will either paint a picture of wealth and ease, or increase your darkest fears, or a combination of both.

And Sarah Palin is great at selling bull$hit.

Palin could be good for economy. The lady is a fashion fit. Great body we need in the white house. At least we will have good body we can count on since we have had no brain in the white house in a long time (100 years). The ladies will be following her fashion and style and we men all we got to do is extend the ladies more credit to buy more stuff and we buy more stocks in retail business and we will have our wallet full of cash from derivatives. When she goes and the ladies have to pay back their over drawn credit cards we hold them at our mercy on condition they do not divorce us. There you have it. True family value with string attached.

The more Palin stories run, the more convinced she becomes that she could win the Presidency. The more convinced she becomes, the more ridiculous Republicans as a whole look for having her as their standard-bearer. Meanwhile, Democrats enjoy the laughs and become more energized for 2012.

I think that's really why Republicans object to all the Palin stories.

You are spot on, Jimi. The more news coverage she gets, the more stupid things she can say and do. The perfect republican nominee. Those of you who pray, join me in praying for her nomination by the rebpublicans. President Obama in 2012! In 2012, it won't be 7,000,000 that he wins by but twice that amount. My second choice would be Huckabee, he who believes the world is only 6,000 years old - or maybe Romney who believes, like Beck, in some sort of magical underwear. It's going to be fun.

The way I see it, a box of rocks could beat Obama in 2012.....and it would be a VAST improvement.

So even if some clever wit makes a comparison between Palin and a box of rocks, that doesn't say very much for Obama.

The only reason we democrats pay any attention to Sarah is: she sounds so stupid all the time, we can hardly wait for her next stupid words...all she does is complain about Obama's White House, she hasn't offered up any solutions to any of the economy's problems..she's pitiful

                          Hey Clint.

Check out this poll, conducted by FOX News. It asks "Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as president?" 51% approve, 43% disapprove. And that's FOX News.

                          http://pollingreport.com/obama_job1.htm#FOX

That box of rocks you're running against Obama in 2012 better be photogenic.

Get a clue lemmings! Could you BE anymore predictable? MSNBC and the rest of the liberal media are simply baiting you by throwing out every non-story they can if the name of Palin is in any way related. They just want you to react...and you don't disappoint...you take the bait. The grownups are laughing at you and your expected knee jerk frenzy of old, old, old "Russia" "reading material" oooooo so original comments. Yup, predictable. They've got you climbing over one another to be the first one to repeat and repeat and repeat. YAWN!

Check the pocket on the LEFT side of your jeans, that's the one that's being picked.

No, your wrong, it was FOX NEWS who interviewed her and they offered to renew her contract and give her Bill O'Really's time slot. After the shellacking Obama gave him they are looking for a replacement.

                            Come Chilled, where'd you go?

Paul, I got no answer. No one was as surprised as me that Drive By would attempt to use sexual orientation to belittle anyone. Very disappointed.

I chalk it up to Drive By's basic inability to actually debate merits. If your looking for a quick, glib statement lacking substance, Drive By is your man. There just doesn't seem to be any there, there.

Although he is a crafty little devil - all his posting is done at work, while geeting paid by his employer. Now he says his boss is all good with it. I'm sure that's true. Drive By wouldn't lie to us, his good buddies, would he?

And thank you other Paul for pointing out my obvious lack of typing skills. As I have mentioned here before, although I do enjoy the exchanges, my primary focus is to become more efficient at typing. For too long I have relied on dictation. Time to cut the cord and give my secretary a break.

And I do get the feeling that Drive By is the type that needs lots of support. And for that he certainly is amongst friends around these parts.

I love NewDay, but nobody could ever replace Bev. or Fiesty in my heart. Don't get me wrong I loves me some Drive By, obviously, but there just not enough substance there. "teleprompter" was the battle cry for the last two years (Hanitty still uses it, for God's sake), and "where are the jobs" was heard here FIRST over and over the day Obama took office. THAT wasn't me, but that WAS me, making fun of 'em the last few weeks or months, or whatever. You guys are really that stupid- that you don't get snark, or are you just that desparate for something, anything, to direct attention somewhere else?

Too bad. Care to comment about just how I proved your post? Golly I asked you some rather direct questions, yet you failed to respond. In the words of my pal Drive By: "redirect?"

And Drive By - yet another excellent example of a glib, simplistic response. Well played sir!

And as for the subsequent comment - that's your response to a group bashing of you inability to formulate "a new episode?" Oh my. Although I gotta ask - you seem to be under the impression I am an accountant. I assume that is because I discussed that I have a degree in accounting. So is it your experience that people tend to find jobs only in the area of their college degree? What about liberal arts majors? Or is it just a lack of familiararity with college, college degrees, post graduate degrees, or anyone who has any of the above?

And of course I post at work - like you I have "the boss'" approval. You know, cause I'm the boss applesauce. My wife's not around is she?

Actually, that moment of civility ended with the President's speech. Republicans anwered with a call to put more judges on the endangered species list and to solve the illegal alien problem by emptying the clip. really civil... and civilized.

Conservatives foist a fool on America and celebrate her mediocrity. Then, they are appalled at the reaction.

The simple fact is, that no matter how undesirable various conservatives will always be to liberals, they attract not nearly as much animosity. Even McCain's wife quickly recognized how vapid, and other republicans recognized how frighteningly moronic, this fool is. Let's make a deal . . . accept the near universal rejection of this political mutant, and let's all move on.

                            Big Bear,

This is pretty civil by most standards. But, really, you've got to admit the woman has it coming. She is a walking, talking caricature of herself. She is a joke waiting to be told. People fawning over a fake is just too priceless to pass up.

This is political satire acted out in the real world.

                            This is performance art.

C'mon give us a pass on this one, it's too funny.

It reminds me of when they pulled a limo up in front of Trump Tower and had Donald come down to meet Gorbachev. He did and was told afterwards he was a fake. He was pissed when they asked him what made him really think that Gorby would really want to meet him.
