Barbour to Israel

From NBC's Chuck Todd and Mark Murray

Gov. Haley Barbour at his office in Jackson, Mississippi.

Courtesy of the Republican Jewish Coalition, Mississippi Gov. (and potential presidential candidate) Haley Barbour (R) is headed to Israel.

He'll be in the country from Feb. 5-9. Per a release from the RJC:

This will be the second time that the RJC has had the privilege of taking Governor Barbour to Israel. The organization also hosted him in 1994, when he was chairman of the Republican National Committee.

This trip will include briefings and meetings with senior leaders in Israel, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It will also include touring important sites in the country. In addition, given the Governor's strong interest in energy issues, there will be visits to several sites such as the Noble Energy offshore gas rig and the Better Place electric car facility outside Tel Aviv. The trip will conclude with Governor Barbour making a major address at the prestigious Herzliya Conference on February 9.

Discuss this post

Will Barbour try to convince the people of Israel that the Holocaust 'wasn't so bad'!

Just like race relations in Mississippi 'not so bad' back then. His memory fails him just like Bat Crazy Bachman!

Probably .Haley Barbour (R) should fit in well with the Likud they are not very friendly towards President Obama and Barbour thinks, imo, President Obama is an ememy of the Jewish people just like the Likud..

I missed Hardball last night. Did Matthews blast Schumer and his statement that the three branches of gevernment are the House, Senate and the White House? He seems to be the hall monitor for dumb statements made3 by politicians.

What's that? He didn't mention it? Well, that's a tad inconsistent.

Bachman is crazy, Palin is stupid, and Schumer, an attoney, is just plain ignorant of the fundamantal structure of the federal government. Maybe Big Ed Schultz can use Schumer in his Psycho-talk segment.

Spanky: Did Matthews blast Schumer and his statement that the three branches of gevernment are the House, Senate and the White House?

I was looking forward to the 3, 4, 5 articles on these pages being printed about Chucky's civics lesson. You know, like we get when O'Donnell says something dumb.

Yeah, but we know that isnt going to happen. Unfortunately Schumer is not just a democrat, he is one ugly dude. I mean really, what's up with the hair? It's very clear there are a lot of folks around here, like Dominico, that just flat out got the hots for Palin and O'Donnell. And come on, can anyone even try to argue that Tingly pants would jump Bachman in a hot minute if given the chance?

Here's what I look forward to - the article that I know is coming this afternoon about the proposed law in South Dakota. The one that requires all citizens to purchase a gun for home protection. Now having been around here for months I know that everybody here agrees that the government can force people to buy stuff. It's just the Commerce Clause after all.

Won't it be fun to read all the insightful post, lead off by Fiesty and Bev. about how totally legal it is to make people buy guns? Because we know the crack staff here on FR is busily working on that article as we speak, right?

And just remember - Schumer is a frigging lawyer. Oh my!

Only a Republican can beg a question and run with it as fact for post after post after post. You are a riot! Please move over to Fox and quit wasting valuable space reserved for intelligent argument. Obama 2012.

Spin and spin. Senator Schumer knows there are three separate branches of Government but he also knows there are three separate entities of the Executive Branch of Government--the House, the Senate and the White House--it takes all three to enact legislation.

Here's a thought, if you don't like what our excellent First Read hosts write, go somewhere else.

But AnaBannan I'm here on MSNBC. But you are right, it would be an aweful shame if we ran out of valuable space.

But I do note that you have failed to address whether 1. Schumer is an idiot; 2. a lot of folks around here are in love with Palin and O'donnell, and 3. if it'd be ok for the government to mandate gun purchase.

So smart this here discussion up. Or maybe you could explain how my post runs with anything as a fact? Or how about you discuss the ability of a state, such as SD to mandate purchase of a product vs. the Feds doing so. Include if you would some discussion of the 10th Amendment, particularly as it applies to said Commerce Clause.

Awwww Jody, so precious, trying so hard. But just so silly!

Were you the one who gave Schumer his civics lessons?

Run along now and look up the three branches of government. I'm going to lunch now.

    Spanky,

Weak men, like you, are spotted when they resort to condescending their rivals upon losing their argument. Strong critical thinkers never take the bait. I must say I'm showing a weakness just posting this but so be it.

        Educated idiots.

The Legislative Branch can infact Pass Laws without the presidents Signature. Its Called a Veto proof majority..

Now Now, shouldn't pick on Spanks. He's just a little agitated most days. Why? Who knows- Maybe it's because he has that BS degree, but in deference to the concept of 'comaprative advantage', feels he should hang rock instead of doing the high-dollar work, and hire the 'grunt' stuff out to the lesser-paid. Hell, I don't know. I'm just a worker-bee.

But he is right about Fox - Come on who you going to watch Ralph Macchio or Megan Kelley. Interesting thing is Megan is a lawyer. Other than ass ugly, what is Maddow?

And dear old Fiesty. We get it. You don't like Fox. Crazy thing is though you just seemed OBSESSED with it. It's ok, we are here in MSNBC land. You are safe.
