NBCChicago's Mary Ann Ahern reports that the Illinois Supreme Court will hear Rahm Emanuel's appeal to knock him off the ballot in Chicago's Feb. 22 mayoral election.
Think maybe we ought to fire off the Big Screen down at the Inn
Maybe get Red to fix us up some of that Libirti-tini flavored popcorn
Might even get somebody to put a quarter in the Music machine and play the Bachmann theme” I’m Just About a Quarter Bubble Off Level For You” in honor of her special appearance
Somebody told me Old Boehner might even stop by if we stock up on wine that doesn’t have a twist top and put a little bit of Ray Charles “It’s Crying Time Again” on the Juke Box.
HEY- who's up for listening to the best president to come along in a long time address our nation tonight?
What, are they showing a re-run of a President Reagan speech instead of Obama's tonight?
So ya'think Obama will still be talking about going to see the Super Bowl? A Cheese Head sitting on top of his noggin would be an improvement in the looks department, well, for him at least.
Speaking of a quarter bubble off, while just watching Sheppard Smith, he came with this little Diddy describing Michelle Bachman, as "Being from OutThere Where The Trains Don't Run"!
Slightly more than a Bubble, but hey, Shep says it, so it must be True!
CleanUp on aisle One, bring the LYSOL as JS1 is again here to stir up $h!T ! Just a little Mop bucket as she Upchucked while speaking on Ronnie RaYGun !
For once I agree with Drive By. Of course the rating are up. First we had the Bush Tax Rates extended, and now Obama just canned the global warming czar. He gets the need for lower taxes, and recogninzes Cap and Trade is a lost cause. Tonight we get the call for belt tightening. Solid.
Besides, approval ratings now are neat and all, but let's see how it's going come April, when the Debt Ceiling gets hit and gas prices are at $4.00. He rolls on the debt, does something about gas prices, and does not bail out the states, then he's alright, even with me.
Just wondering there JoAnna but are you talking about the one he made before the Alzheimer’s kicked in or the one he made after Nancy had to prop him up and point him in the right direction so he wouldn’t forget where the lectern was. That one was a real rip-snorter.
Yeah Spanks, the Libbies are getting all warm and fuzzy anticipating their heros big speech under the big top tonight. They don't have their "Keith" anymore, and they have all this pent up hero worshipping they have to spill on to someone.
Just wondering there JoAnna but are you talking about the one he made before the Alzheimer’s kicked in
Yeah, isn't that something?! Reagan managed to bring unemployment down from 8% to 5% and inflation down from 13.5% to 4.1%. And the man had Alzheimers!
Might even get somebody to put a quarter in the Music machine and play the Bachmann theme” I’m Just About a Quarter Bubble Off Level For You” in honor of her special appearance
Maybe you can buy the unemployed union workers a round of beer while your there. It may hold them over until all those "shovel ready" jobs finally start up.
Heck JoAnna old Bill managed to do better than that and he had to spend half his time zipping his pants back up. Shucks Geogre Jr. managed to get it up to 8 or 9 all by himself and didn't even get a B.J. for our troubles. What was his excuse?
Ahh, the right just cannot stand success from anyone but one of their own. Drives them bonkers whenever President Obama achieves success--lord knows the GOPTP tried hard enough to stop everything the last two years but did not win in their efforts. They don't even realize that by compromising to extend those tax cuts for two years, Pres Obama and democrats ate the GOPTPers for lunch--Lindsay Graham said so. Too bad, so sad. I wouldn't be touting Reagan all that much, he added 189% to the national debt, cut taxes then raised them one year later and every year after that except election years, and then spent even more.
IR, fire up the juke box, that song will be a hit.
I'm proud of President Obama, democrats and proud to be a liberal and not one word the regular anti-Obama hate mongers say matters one tiny bit.
He doesn't have secret deals with OPEC and Iran? The first one being treason and the last one being ... well, treason. Surely you remember the hostage crisis and Iran-Contra, JoAnna.
Read about it in Wiki --
The most well known and politically damaging of the scandals came to light in November 1986, when Ronald Reagan conceded that the United States had sold weapons to the revolutionary government of the Shah of Iran, Ruhollah Khomeini, as part of a largely unsuccessful effort to secure the release of 52 Americans being held hostage. It was also disclosed that some of the money from the arms deal with Iran had been covertly and illegally funneled into a fund to aid the right wing Contras revolutionary groups seeking to overthrow the socialist Sandinista government of Nicaragua. The Iran-contra scandal as it became known, did serious damage to the Reagan presidency. The investigations were effectively halted when President George H. W. Bush (Reagan's vice president) pardoned Secretary of Defence Caspar Weinberger before his trial began.
But maybe those were just nasty, and not contributory.
Come to think of it, though, Reagan also had a savings-and-loan scandal requiring a massive government bailout ... about $125 billion, as I recall it, which was real money in those days. And that actually resulted in deep-sixing George H.W. Bush's presidency by creating massive deficits.
Does the pattern here sound familiar?
Savings and loan crisis in which 747 institutions failed and had to be rescued with $160 billion of taxpayer monies. Reagan's "elimination of loopholes" in the [29]tax code included the elimination of the "passive loss" provisions that subsidized rental housing. Because this was removed retroactively, it bankrupted many real estate developments which used this tax break as a premise, which in turn bankrupted 747 Savings and Loans, many of whom were operating, more or less, as banks, thus requiring the FDIC to cover their debts and losses with tax payer money. This with some other "deregulation" policies, ultimately led to the largest political and financial scandal in U.S. history to that date. The Savings and Loan crisis. The ultimate cost of the crisis is estimated to have totaled around USD $150 billion, about $125 billion of which was directly subsidized by the U.S. government, which further increased the large budget deficits of the early 1990s.
Ding, ding, ding, ding ... ding. I think we have our winner.
"Yeah Spanks, the Libbies are getting all warm and fuzzy anticipating their heros big speech under the big top tonight. They don't have their "Keith" anymore, and they have all this pent up hero worshipping they have to spill on to someone."
Can you just IMAGINE those darned old libbies? Trying to keep on a positive keel? What's wrong with them, anyway? Dont' they KNOW you should be miserable all the time? Don't they EVER listen to talk-radio?? Ingrates. Numb-skulls. Bunch of secret-tree-house-sitting bastids.
Ahhh, the Reagan years wasn't he the greatest! Sleeping on the job, Ollie North, Al Haig, massive defense spending, Union bashing, liberal bashing, poor people bashing, putting Marines in harms way but not letting them defend themselves unless one of them was killed and let us not forget increasing the the national debt to four times his predecessors. Oh for the glory days of the GOP.
Again Jody, we are seeing great success on two issues very important to me. 1. Bush Tax rates for the forseeable future; and two our energy costs will not now "necessarily skyrocket." Browner, the wicked witch of unicorns and fairy dust (that's "clean" energy to the greenies) is dead.
And it's why she's dead that really brings the joy. Obama now understands that there is no way that crap is going to fly. Now we just need to wait until mid spring. That's when gas prices always spike. That'll be when our new centrist president will probably have to call for more drilling. He'll have to (but of course protest that's there is nothing else he can do), cause after all the poor folk can't afford $4.00 a gallon. Hell even I will have to consider voting for the guy if he really does something about energy - like 20 new nuke plants and expansive domestic drilling.
And I think the market will force his hand, just like it did on taxes.
Jody Iowa: Ahh, the right just cannot stand success from anyone but one of their own. Drives them bonkers whenever President Obama achieves success--
Yeah, those Obama success stories like 9.4% unemployment and $1.5 trillion dollar deficits, those are hard to beat. Oh, and those CBO projections, you can take those to the bank too!
Still upset about this "Keith" thing Buzzy? That stacked on top of Nov02/2010, must be rough. At least you have Obama's popularity to keep you warm at night.
I AM I AM! I'm going down to my neighborhood bar to watch with a bunch of my friends. I'm looking forward to seeing the President address those rowdy Congresspeople and Justices on the BIG SCREEN! Should be fun!
"You need a man." Why, yes I do. That's why I'm going to this gathering to watch instead of huddling around my little laptop all by my lonesome. Wish me luck!
Me Too DOB. I love to watch and listen to the President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama give another great presentation to th nation.
And then my mind wanders to an image of the hair on fire crowd, the do nothings of the right, try to top him, as Ryan and Bachmann duel each other for the most outlandish suggestion to help the rich and powerful.
Isn't it funny how the Rahm would beat both of his closes opponents combined and before he was White House Chief of Staff he was U.S. Rep. for the 5th District of Illinois which by the way includes most of the North Side of Chicago. So what is the problem? Sounds like the majority of the people of Chicago support him.
I'll be joining my lib friends to watch the SOTU at the Dew Drop Inn, toast the President's success both past and future, and watch the conservatives cry in their beer.
Straight up to that. I mean it was just two short years ago the liberal brain trust advised us all that the rebulicans were done, right Jody?
And do be careful now and try not to get too high. That way the next low won't be so bad. Who knows, maybe there won't be a show down over the debt ceiling. Maybe Obama's speech tonight will be so good the repulicans will forget about the looming insolvency of social security. Maybe gas prices will spontaneously go back to $2.25 per gallon, and the House won't systematically de-fund Obamacare. Heck, maybe California, Ill., and New York won't have to declare bankruptcy.
All that might happen, but I'd say it'd all be about as likely as say Bev. posting a comment without resort to insulting conservatives. Zero. But do enjoy yourself tonight.
'Afternoon, Spanky. Say, what say instead of listening to a bunch of lies on the SOTU address tonight, you eat a good supper, quaff a couple of cold ones, and curl up with a good Lund Survey.
Fun and games galore!
HEY- who's up for listening to the best president to come along in a long time address our nation tonight?
I AM! I AM! Let's all get a good look at those approval numbers again, before they change again tomorrow.
For the BETTER! HA HA HA Ha.....
DangIt, DBO, Stop/Cease Intimidating the Republican/TeaParty. Thier still in Lalaland where 45% is the majority of the people!
Up to 55%, You say!
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum!
Reality TV at it's best tonight!
Weeper of the House, where are the jobs?

BTW, is his face on That $3 dollar Bill yet ?
Obama will be kicking off his new campaign slogan tonight:
"If You're Unemployed, You're Probably Voting for Me!"
Catchy. Nice job by his marketing department.
Awwwh Ricky, you just once again proved the stereotype that Libs have no sense of humor, just like you have no sense.
And I'm sorry for having ruined your little Libby group hug. Really, I am.

That's SAINT Reagan, to you, Smiff.
But hey, you guys- didn't I warn you earlier today that the right would be all upset today? Just wait until tomorrow!
Heck JoAnna old Bill managed to do better than that and he had to spend half his time zipping his pants back up. Shucks Geogre Jr. managed to get it up to 8 or 9 all by himself and didn't even get a B.J. for our troubles. What was his excuse?

I hate to pick on you, JoAnna, but can you tell me why the unemployed wouldn't vote republican?
On second thought, never mind. I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that: republicans don't really care about the unemployed.
Can you show me any evidence that they do?
Ahhh, the Reagan years wasn't he the greatest! With all the Obama entitlements like health care and unemployment benefit extensions, why work?
Yeah, we saw that positive "keel" a couple weeks ago coming from the Left after the shootings in Arizona. Real positive message from those Lefties.
Here's Lefties, lets compare some famous quotes:
Reagan: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! ..."
Obama: "Can I just finish my waffle?"
Yeah, those Obama success stories like 9.4% unemployment and $1.5 trillion dollar deficits, those are hard to beat. Oh, and those CBO projections, you can take those to the bank too!
JoAnnaSmiff is on an absolute ROLL today!
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha..... keep 'em coming, sugar-plum!
Some more quotes:
Reagan: "I have only one thing to say to the tax increasers: Go ahead, make my day."
Obama: "We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."
Still upset about this "Keith" thing Buzzy? That stacked on top of Nov02/2010, must be rough. At least you have Obama's popularity to keep you warm at night.
Do i SOUND upset? YOU seem to be having all the kittens on here today.
Drive by-----please aplogize to cats bearing kittens for your comparison to JS1. Simply not fair to the cats.
I am looking for a Burke recusal on this.
