From NBC's Shawna Thomas and Carrie Dann
Three Democrats voted with all House Republicans on Wednesday to repeal the health care reform bill signed into law by Barack Obama last year.
Democratic Reps. Dan Boren of Oklahoma, Mike Ross of Arkansas, and Mike McIntyre of North Carolina joined GOP lawmakers in supporting the symbolic vote to repeal the law.
The three Democrats were among the 39 who voted against the legislation in November of 2009. Just 12 of those lawmakers are still serving in the House in the new Congress (six retired or left their seats to seek higher office; the remainder lost their re-election bids.)
Boren, Ross, and McIntyre were joined by Democratic Rep. Larry Kissell of North Carolina earlier this month in supporting a procedural measure that teed up the repeal vote. Kissell voted no on repeal today.
The final vote was 245-189.

You guys are not going to like it but there is one person, won't say who because there is a lot of negitivity, but this man says his platform, if he runs for Pres, would be: Supreme Court Jus. terms limited and no lifers from now on, pay raises for Congress would be taken our of the Congressman and Reps hands, Their pay would also be reduced because they all say we need money, 10% tax across the board, make a lot of money to pay our bills by downsizing the government , and making our great leaders (forcing) to have the same healthcare they are offering the American citizens. And last but not least, make them work for us!!!
For all of you on the Right and Left, here's some breaking news: You've all been gamed! You need to sit down and figure it out and stop your silly name calling of each other because it serves no useful purpose other than the pols that keep us fighting each other.
Don't bother to comment to me, I'm going to bed.
The problem with this action is that the Republicans have had at minimum 18 months to think about the replacement part of their false campaign promise and have not offered anything concrete as to what they would replace it with. They have however, said that the portions already popular with the public will be put into their new bill. So they are essentially cherry picking the Democrats program and have nothing original to add. This law needs reviewing and refining, not repealing and replacing.
Beyond that, there is also the reality that the repeal will not happen in this congress. So, the Republicans appear to be ready to waste the next 2 years on "symbolic" actions and will avoid the difficult job of real governing.
None of this obvious time wasting will help anyone in terms of unemployment, federal deficits, debt or much of anything that is important and correctable.
The Congressman that voted for the repeal are an IQ test. Look at the states they come from. Who on earth wants to think anyone from one of these places has an IQ above 50?
Tired of these people wasting my money! Maybe they should all go to AA and read about items you can change and items you can't. Oh yeah Bush did that and it didn't work! The last thing any of these idiots on both sides of the isle are for is the people, they just want power, money, influence and health care. It's time to elect some people who have never held office anywhere and live in the real world.
what money ?? ---- i agree, however, about getting the incumbents out of there. ---- got rid of a bunch of them in 2010 --- i suspect we'll lose some more in 2012.
Hey Joe Cannon,
It's the "idiots on both sides of the AISLE," not "ISLE" as in Isle of Capri. Guess who's a real idiot, Joe?
U need 2 think 4 Yourself wrote the following:
Johanna nothing about how our congress has acted in the last couple of years is impressive to anyone but the most simple of minded. You think we look cleaver to the world in our present state of political game we play when there is so much real work that needs to be addressed. The saddestperson in the world is one who doesnt have the sense to be embarrassed when they are not on parr.
What you need, U need, is to go back to school and learn English. Then maybe you can take some in narrative writing so you might become understandable. "The most simple of minded"? The phrase is "the most simple minded, you simpleton. Cleaver? Try "clever." "Work doesn't need to be addressed," it needs to be performed, you simple-minded idiot. "Saddestperson" is really two words, not one. Doesn't has an apostrophe. Parr doesn't have two r's, in case you hadn't noticed.
How dare you call anyone else simple-minded, you half-wit. And, passing a new health care law that forbids denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions, enacting new financial regulations, approving the SMART Treaty, all in the face of Republican deceit and the never-ending campaign of hate-mongering waged against Obama were significant achievements to any cretin with half its grey matter cut out, which unfortunately excludes U, U need. You just regurgitate what you've heard from right wing bloviaters; you would do well to take your name seriously and learn to think for yourself, U need.
To all you supporters of the Republicans who want to repeal the National Health care Bill. Do any of you know that all U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators receive a pension for life, even if they only serve one term. They all have an excellent health plan benefits that is included in their pension plan, all paid for by tax payers dollars. The average Joe finally gets a bill to help them and their families and the Republicans wants to repeal the Constitutionality of the bill. Throughout history working class Americans has been brainwashed to believe that what ever the Democratics propose it will destory the economy, the country and our way of life. Lets see Weapons of Mass Destruction, now we are in a 10 billion dollar a month war for over five years (thanks you republicans). Social Security at one time was paid to a 62 year old worker who had retired, now it 67 years old, and now the Republicans wants to move it to 72 years, while most hard working Americans will die before they are eligible to receive their social security. This health plan bill has finally given the hard working Americans an opportunity to defend themselves from multibillion dollar insurance companies, (or Most Republicans golfing bubbies), and you all,are fools believing that this health plan is going to bankrupt the country. The Republicans say they had a better plan. Well, where was this plan doing the EIGHT YEARS that they were in control of the White House, The Senate and the House. Wake UP Americans, stop being a bunch of fools. And I pray that no one in your household never become seriously ill and the LARGE INSURANCE COMPANIES deny them coverage. We know what we have, and we should know by now that the Republicans are great liers. Are did they ever find those weapons.
Repeal the Health Care Bill, The Republicans has a better plan. The greatest BULL I ever heard. This country has been trying to find answers to this country health care issues for decades. But because a politican has come alone with feelings and concerns for the millions of suffering , hard working Americans, and got a health bill passed through the House and the Senate. A bill that prevent multibillion dollars insurance from denying health care coverage to policy holders. A bill that finally gives the average Joe a chance of not being abused by these Insurance companies CEOs and their good old boy Republicans golfing bubbies. What the Republicans can not justify with facts they apply fear in the hearts of weak minded individuals. Remember this from the Republicans, "If we do not take Iraq and it dictator out, they will attack America with WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. Reply, "We must stop them before they destroy America." The American Troops attacked Iraq and within 2 hours and 20 minutes that poor country was destroyed, and that war is still costing this country 10 billion dollars a day. Now, this Health Care Plan is going to destroy this country . Sounds Familar. But don't panic The Republicans have a better plan. What a joke, they were in office for EIGHT YEARS, with control of the House and the Senate and made NO effort to even attempt a health Care Bill, because they do NOT care if Americans are suffering.
Traitors!

"AZ--66% increase sounds better to you than 2% increase--that's what it is. Please enlighten me as to what states are without budget challenges."
Sandich, it is obvious now that you were depived of basic math skills in grade school. Your state income tax was 3% and was raised to 5%. 5/3 = 1.667 aka a 66.7% increase. Where you were paying $1.00, now you are paying $1.667. Keep pretending it is just 2% so when they start charging you 7% you will only think it is just another 2%.
It is no wonder why you keep voting for the left. You obviously need someone else to think for you.
If it does get repealed, they'd better pass a law to force insurance companies to backtrack on their exorbitant premium hikes. Somehow I suspect they won't do it on their own.
I can see why we don't ever make any progress. Nobody "listens" nobody compromises. What we need to do is get rid of 85-90% of all current politicians in WA and replace them with people who "Really" represent what the people want.
Wise up people, Politicians DO NOT CARE (except an exceptional few) about us. Special interest MONEY runs WA. PERIOD. People with the most money have influence on policy....
We could do 1 simple thing and it would bring HUGE change to WA. BAN all politicians from taking any money whatsoever from any group/business/etc. Scrutinize their financial records "as elected officials" It's not like they don't make enough in office. And if your found to have taken any money your fired.
That one change alone would bring the biggest change to WA anyone has seen. Maybe then, and only then would they actually care about us. Until we eliminate special interests from influencing our elected members, we have to face facts. Big Money is running this nation. NOT US......
My 2 cents
All of those who are making money from their health care related stock dividends, raise your hands. Healthcare replaced our manufacturing base. It's where the money is for a lot of everyday folk. Take a look at your neighborhood or in your local telephone book and count how many health related businesses there are, not to mention the insurance companies who benefit from health care. And, by the way. Have you noticed how many drug stores there are in your neighborhood. You better wake up and think about why so many are making money via healthcare and why they are so heavily invested in the future of poor health in this country.
This is probably as far as this argument to repeal the health care reform bill will get, because most know that the vote is purely symbolic and Republicans had to sustain their promise to the American people that they would repeal it.
Barbara Adams Jackson
"by the way it costs Medicare 3% note 3% to run this system"
if you don't count the $50 Trillion in unfunded liabilities in Medicare and the $500 Billion in waste fraud and abuse annually that we are going to use to pay for Obamacare, then I guess your 3% number is correct.
Rep McIntyre........
........I speak as a senior lifelong Republican, now an Independent who is beyond being chagrined as it relates 2 your recent vote 2 repeal the Affordable Health Care law. U R in no danger of forfeiting all of your assets should U face a serious health issue. Nor is your immediate family. But that cannot B said of your "extended" family who may experience a life threatening health problem or problems & they R without health insurance coverage simply because they could not afford the outrageous premiums demanded by the industry. Suffice 2 say, were I one of your relatives I would expose U as a traitor 2 not only your family but all the families of this nation who R without proper health care. U do not deserve your position in government as U have acquiesced 2 the bribery of the insurance industry with your vote. I am embarrassed 2 have ever been a Republican & I am doubly embarrassed that a Democrat like U would join the Republican fiasco in attempting 2 repeal the present health law. What the hell R U thinking? R U simply CYA in the role of a coward? C'est la vie.
I don't see any posts that discuss the senators and representatives themselves having the option to NOT live by these same rules they are imposing on us, through this horrific health care bill . They get a golden plate and are exempt to what they are forcing us into?
