Which Democrats voted for repeal?

From NBC's Shawna Thomas and Carrie Dann
Three Democrats voted with all House Republicans on Wednesday to repeal the health care reform bill signed into law by Barack Obama last year.

Democratic Reps. Dan Boren of Oklahoma, Mike Ross of Arkansas, and Mike McIntyre of North Carolina joined GOP lawmakers in supporting the symbolic vote to repeal the law.

The three Democrats were among the 39 who voted against the legislation in November of 2009. Just 12 of those lawmakers are still serving in the House in the new Congress (six retired or left their seats to seek higher office; the remainder lost their re-election bids.)

Boren, Ross, and McIntyre were joined by Democratic Rep. Larry Kissell of North Carolina earlier this month in supporting a procedural measure that teed up the repeal vote. Kissell voted no on repeal today.

The final vote was 245-189.

This process of going back to same issues that have already been debated for months and passed into law is very expensive and is going to cost tax payers millions of dollars again. I thought we as tax payers have in the past 2 years paid congressmen for debating these same issues that they now want us to pay for again in the next 2 years. Is'nt this a big joke by these congressmen? Can taxpayers be told how much of their money was spent to debate these same issues and how the debates on the same issues going to be funded without tax payers money being used again. Is it fair for tax payers to be charged twice on one issue that they have already paid dearly for.

Please take a moment to review this important information. For the past year i did not have not one visit to doctor's office and my premium is going up by $58.00 per month, thats $696.00 per year.... I'm starting to feel the Obama's Heath Care effects. Makes me feel like just give up on everything and go on welfare...... never been a favor of free handout, it's starting to look real good!!

Without the affordable health care law, how do you know that your premiums weren't going to go up $150/month? You did get a year closer to death or major illness.

Smaller government and slash money for education, that would help the GOP dumb down the US electrorate making it much easier to fear them in to voting against their self interest. I have faith in America, and I believe they will see the facts and reject the cliches and talking points of fear. I believe in healthy debate and bi-partisianship but the current GOP's in power make me ashamed. Do something or get out of the way.

Everyone call your local congress / senate members office's and ask then to give up their state funded health care until we can all have the same Cadillac plan...that they have ! Let them see first hand the cost and the denial rate we have to deal with...to be honest not one of them already doesn't have a preexisting condition ! If they wont give it up VOTE THEM OUT !! The power is in the voters hands !

Just keep drinking the Republican kool-aid when a family member gets laid off off and can't buy health insurance and let them die because you bought into the Kool-Aid. Please don't bring up the high cost of Drug Prescriptions, because your Republican friends negoitied the drug prescription drug bill at 3 times the cost for drugs than the VA pays for the same drugs, where was your outrage??? Lets all take a job with WalMart here in Georgia, so we can get the taxpayers to pay for their childrens healthcare through Peachcare, by the way there are 10,000 kids on the dole in Georgia, where is the outrage??? Let's repel the law so the insurance companies can charge any rate that they want and can pick and choose who they want to cover. Our great Sarah Palin claims the bill has Death Panels, so when you have a love one that has a terminal disease and they can suffer for an extra 3 months because they didn't have a living will, this is Sarah Palin's Death Panel. Keep drinking the Republican Kool-Aid.

I agree. The shooter in Az. told his best friend that he was going to do something to divide this nation. And when we divided other nations could infiltrate us easier. Listen to your gut instict. We Americans should NEVER divide. We should put the greed and lies where they go. They are playing us folks!!!

I believe most of u folks need a few days n the hospital to get the ideal of why

we need this bill, until u have recv'd a bill from the hospital maybe u will get

on board. Most of u youngings think u will live a life time of perfect health, well

forget it, ur time will come and the words, sticker shock, will indeed change ur

mind about universal care. Don't worry about the insurance u r going to pay,

it's only fair for everyone to share the cost. Personally, I would prefer a 3 o4

percent tax to pay for the system, then everyone would have a share of the

                  responsibility.

Cann't we all just get along!!! There is a young person who is only 22 years young. He has a rare brain tumor. The insurance company is denying the treatment he needs. They say it is experimental. Well all the treatment is experimental since it is a rare brain tumor. This person does not have the time for this. He is dying. We spend more on health care then any other country. Yet we rank 37th in quality. We have a higher infant mortality rate than countries you would not believe. To have quality health care for all Americans... is this really out of our realm? We will never have quality health care for all when our system is driven by profit and not compassion. Sure let's trust the insurance industry to do the right thing.

We have to address the health care crisis in this country. Do not believe the politicians, research the information for yourselves. Then vote!!

All this means is to expect no effective legislation for two years since the Repblicans like to play games knowing full well their efforts impede new legislation.

Over past two years they filibustered, now they will initiate legilsation that has no chance of clearing the Congress, thereby impeding needed reform.

Also we will not see them cut spendimg since military funding would need to be the target...And it is Republican policy to spend money on military spending that US does not have, so expect Republican House to propose a budget asking for too little cuts in US military spending. We must , after all, worship our golden calf of bullish power.

From their point of view it is better to let the unhealthy die so we can have a few extra submarines and another air craft carrier or two..the uninsured are most likely bums anyway and "Hitler had it right?" when he sent the undesirables to concentration camps since they are no longer contributing elements to society but only a load instead.

After all, isn't it the fault of the unemployed that they do not have any insurance?. Cerrtainly cannot be the fault of our beloved capitalsim which our Republican policy makers think the flag is sworn to protect.

All of these three pages of "mental masterbation" reflect exactly the problem this country is facing. We (born or earned citizenship) Americans are nothing but the "Hatfields & McCoys" ..and I'm sure I will be corrected..but that was about a pig at the start. An old saying I love...Q: What is an elephant? A: A mouse designed by committee! We are 50 states that should work together...but, somehow, someway we must divide...red & blue, black and white, rich and poor, etc., etc. The right answer is to do things with everyone in mind. Remind Washington politicians, please!

The rest of the world is either laughing at our division, aghast at what is going on, or ready to pounce when everything goes to hell in a handbasket. Wake up and start "working well with others" like on your grade cards.

I notice alot of comments by pro Right blabbermouths. The Republicans are the party of NO the only thing they can do is pass a symbolic vote.  Move on from the health care bill and tackle the real issue Jobs.  I guess Republicans can easily fool their simply minded base with these tactics but the rest of the country knows that Jobs and the Economy is what the House and Senate should be focused on and not political showboating.

Yes Sarah 2554906 your dead on. But with American families living on the street from losing their homes for the past how many years our Pres farted around with this health care dream of his. Why can't they give health care to people who need it and leave me along. I wasted over 30 years on a job, hanging in there, to have my benefits taken away from me by the government. That is what really pisses most of us off. We Americans do not like to be forced to buy insurance from the government. I just wish G. Washington and the rest could see us now. Especially since they planned every way to try to keep government from treating them the way the King of England treated and controlled them.

How did the government "take away your benefits"?

Because I retired ATT and when universal healthcare was manditory for all Americans the company, and union (they let it happen) will cut the retirees healthcare and happily stop our benefit. That is kind of like we promised 30 years ago but since the government has it you can go over there. And of course they say you can keep your present plan but there WILL be penalties for companies who don't co-operate. Why can't they just get it to people who don't have it? I guess I just don't like to be forced by the gov to buy something from them.

Who told you this is not going anywhere? Healthcare as obamacare will be quite different in the next two years. Why? Because the American public, given the chance to read the bill, will reject most of the costly provisions. It will not stand as is.

Health Care is a Right - not a privilege for the few. This country is on the verge of Fascism as it is. It's not Socialists that are the problem - it's the Corporate Fascists. The Socialists are simply trying to rescue us overworked proletarians from the tyranny and oppression of the Corporate Facists and the Rich !!!
I want to be LIBERATED from my Corporate Masters - not enslaved to them.
Equality is much more important than Wealth.
Here's the deal - If you want to be rich - I want to be rich too.
If you want me to be poor - then I want you to be poor WITH me. (Fair enough?)
Either we ALL get to be rich together - or we ALL get to be poor together.
But I do NOT want Less. Not now, Not EVER !!!

They should focus a head on other important issues that will contribute to the much needed economic growth.
