Currently, the House is debating the rule for the repeal of health-care reform. We expect the vote to happen around this morning. This is a procedural vote and will pass. It will clear the way for debate to start on the health-care repeal bill on Tuesday. The debate will conclude on Wednesday, which is when we expect the final vote on repeal to happen.
Once the rule passes, the House will take up four minutes -- yes, four minutes -- of debate on a resolution to deal with the fact that Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) and Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA) weren't sworn-in when they participated in legislative actions on Tuesday and Wednesday. That resolution is expected to disqualify any votes they took before they were sworn in.
*** UPDATE *** The rule for the health care repeal passed.

Sound and fury signifying nothing.
Guess they were too busy reading the Constitution rather than follow it's rules!
Hmmm... Anyone know if that's an impeachable crime? lol
Constitution? I thought it was the new-employee handbook. They really could use one of those.
But serriously- why are the Republicans trying to increase our deficit?? Are they 'listenening to the will of the American people,' or are they simply 'cramming down throats' in some weird way?
There you go with the 'cramming' thingy again Buzz...
Don't get em all riled up again will ya?
Isn't this FUN? lol
Feisty
Guess they were too busy reading the Constitution rather than follow it's rules!
I've never seen in my adult life such a bunch of lying dolts.
Hmmm... Anyone know if that's an impeachable crime? lol
We do know it's corrupt. Pete Sessions (R-TX) and Rep.Mike Fitzpatrick (R-PA) would rather fill their coffers at a fund raiser than value a violation of the Constitution.
Besides, how do we know it was REALLY them who raised their hands in front of the TV? An image could be photo shopped just like a birth certificate .
I wonder why no mention of WHY these two buffoon's were conspicuously absent by the MSM?
Wouldn't want everyone to know they were attending a Republican fund raiser at the Capital rather than doing 'The People's Work'.
$$$ trumps the Constitution every time!
Yawn.. Come on admit it. You just hate the Fact that a White Man is sitting in the Speakers chair..
A white man has always been sitting in prominent government positions. So unless you're being sarcastic, your point is null, void, and foolish.
Kristin - word of advice, don't feed the troll! ;o)
Steve is our resident attention whore and the more you acknowledge him the more outrageous the crap he spews!
Steve-505729
Yawn.. Come on admit it. You just hate the Fact that a White Man is sitting in the Speakers chair..
Actually, Stevie-o I hate that a dim witted drunk is sitting there.
I have to agree with Kristin-2880570.
You have no point what- so-ever; as usual.
Last night I saw Brian Williams allow Boehner to claim the bill will "bankrupt America," without pushing back: how can that be when the CBO says reform will lower costs and premiums? The more the American people understand the Democrats' Healthcare Reform Bill, the better they like it. But the media seems more interested in keeping the partisan game going than in reporting the facts.
For once I totally agree with Fiesty - this is fun!
Really he's more of an orange oompa loompa than a white man, no?
I Love for the past 2 years all we have been hearing from Feisty and Bev and a few other Racists here on FR is Us Republicans are nothing but a Bunch of Racists because we dont like the " Black Man in the White house".... I concider him a Half White man.. When you Throw it back in their Face they then try and deflect the RACISM they have been throwing around.. Yea. YOu liberals sure can Dish it out . but you cant take it...
I hate you Black Racist.. You are a scrouge on Soceity.. I owe you nothing just because your Skin is Black.
I Love for the past 2 years all we have been hearing from Feisty and Bev and a few other Racists here on FR is Us Republicans are nothing but a Bunch of Racists because we dont like the " Black Man in the White house
Steve-o
Your reverse racism rant has no merit. Unless you consider calling him orange racist.
FYI:Old white have sitting in congress since America's inception.
My contention is...John Boehner is not a leader. He demonstrated it yesterday when he couldn’t put the birther debacle to bed. And his pathetic interview revealed just how lazy he is when he could not name one thing he’d cut in the budget.
From the January 20, 2011 issue of Rolling Stone
Matt Taibbi
John Boehner is the ultimate Beltway hack-- He's a lazy, double-talking shill for corporate interests. So how's he going to fare with the Tea Party?
You oughta read the article, a white man, Matt Taibbi wrote it. It seems like he doesn't like him in that position either.
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/matt-taibbi-the-crying-shame-of-john-boehner-20110105?page=1
Bev - *Focus GF*
Ignore him... responding only gives him a platform to talk some more asinine nonsense! ;o)
I do agree that a 'colored' man is occupying the Speakers seat - orange does not equate to white!
You know Bev..
I understand your RACISM.. YOU are a Pathetic Human Being.. Boehner clearly Said. that he Beleived Obama. we understand you expect Boehner to speak for all people that dont agree with you. But you always seem to leave otu the Fact the he believes Obama.. Hey. even i do on this matter..
Its the usual Tactic with RACISTS like you BEV.. you leave out what he actually Said to make yourself FEEL better about the FACT YOU hate White people.. ..
But then you call me a Teabagger.... when i have never been Assosicated with them.. its what you scum Liberals do...
and as to Feistys Post.. John Boehner is a White man.. .. And you calling him an Orange man is just more proof of your hatred for White people..
The is such a waste of time the only thing that comes to mind is............................."You told me to comb the desert now I'm combing the desert"......"Did ya find anything yet?" "Maaannnnn we ain't found sh!t."
Will someone tape a penny to Steve's tone-arm, please? It seems to be stuck again.
I hate you Black Racist..
But then you call me a Teabagger.... when i have never been Assosicated with them.. its what you scum Liberals do...
You hate me and you're not a tea bagger. Then are you a birther,Steve-o? They love the President's implied otherness.
See Bev your Blind hatred for anyone that Doesn't Agree with you, is what yoru problem is. You see when i posted that Boehner addressed the Issue you claimed he didnt.. and said he Believed Obama about his Citizenship.. . You will notice. I said. I believed him too... . As i always have. I have never Questioned Obama's Citizenship.. .
but you fail to Read. the post..
And yes.. I do hate you because you are a Racist...
Amy--I watched that interview, too, and couldn't believe Boehner's non-answer to the question about HCR and the fact that Williams didn't push him on it.
It's like this Steve, Speaker Boehner is the LEADER of the majority. He does not need to tell his 12 birthers what to believe or think, but he can certainly tell them to stop stirring a turd because all that does is stink up the place and stink up the party of the stirrers--in addition, it makes the 12 birthers look outright stupid, racist, and incapable of accepting fact despite the evidence placed in front of them. If Boehner wants to improve the party's image as "big tent", a good place to start is this: I would suggest he haul the birthers to his office and hold a come to Jesus meeting by telling them to knock it off--and that does not require him to tell them what to think.
No.. Jody,, its like this..
You and the rest of the Liberals on this page Blamed the Out burst in the House on Representatives on Elected officials. when it reality it was some nut case in the Gallery, Not one of these so called Birthers said anything on the House Floor.. They have the Right to their Opinion.. Just like you and I.. it is not my Right to tell them not to Say it.... I can tell them they are Wrong.. but i dont have the right to tell them not to say it..
I understand that you Wish that to be the Case but its not. I mean if it were the Case .. I would tell you to stop posting on these boards .. Because most of what you say isnt Truth.. Get it..
Wow, Steve-o, is on a roll! I think the proper description with a few exceptions for the Teabaggers, is that they are BIGOTS!.....Intolerance on steroids!
...but ah, the uncertainty, the American people are afraid/scared, the massive government take-over, take our government back, Marxist, Hitler, and on, and on......that's Steve-O
Smoke and mirrors; what a waste of time for symbolism to placate the Tea Baggers.
Did anyone notice the 'crowd' yesterday at the reading of the new-employee handbook? They should have let the janitors in early to do thier dusing and vacuuming.
Yea... I saw Nancy Pelosi Reading part of it.
Speaking of placating Tea Partiers, the first thing Maine's new governor did was to recind the policy that public officials can't ask people about their immigration status, a policy the previous, Democratic governor, enacted to assure people "from away" they could ask for help, or to report crimes, without fear of being deported. Mind you, Maine doesn't have many illegal immigrants flocking to our cold and elderly state, but there is nothing Tea Partiers like better than looking down their noses at anyone with the gumption to move.
Amy B. Portland, ME
Maine doesn't have many illegal immigrants flocking to our cold and elderly state, but there is nothing Tea Partiers like better than looking down their noses at anyone with the gumption to move.
That is because Tea baggers are dumb and the only way they can placate their inferiority complex is to look down on others.
Beverly in Chicago
Ayuh!
Amy you are precious. Now why would your state officials want to make anyone uncomfortable? Here illegally? I suppose you are ok with that, but really if they are not in violation of immigration (or any other) laws then why would there be a problem?
And you nailed it again Bev - Tea baggers are all dumb and inferior.
Spanky-
The point that you seem to be missing is the reason for not asking immigration status is to avoid discouraging illegal immigrants from reporting more serious crimes than illegal immigration. Or would you rather see murders and robberies go unreported if an illegal immigrant has information on such crimes?
@Houston
Isn't it racist to infer that serious crimes like murder and robberies happen around illegals?
Exactly, Beverly, not that they would ever be placated. By the way...about Steve. He only posts to insult people, he has nothing substantive to say ever. I never read what he writes, there is no point responding to him. You, in particular, bother him because of your extraordinary ability to cut through the B.S. Have a nice weekend, see you here next week!
Houston, I'd rather the illegals not be here in the first place, then they'd have no need to report or rely on the services us tax payers provide them. I rather everyone comply with the laws. Since they are unwilling to do so then they get what they get. And really, the only crimes I'm concerned about from the illegals is all the driving without licenses and insurance and drunk driving. It goes without saying they are not insured - I've had to deal with that myself, but it seems the Mexicans have a proclivity to drive drunk, a lot. By hey, if you have no license to lose, what's the harm, right Houston?
See I got hit by a drunk illegal. No license or insurance. And say, I bet you can't guess the number of DUIs that fellow had. Go ahead, give it a shot.
Thanks newday
I really just started paying attention to him a few days ago. I've tried reasoning to him. But, after this last rant of his I'm convinced he is impenetrable.
So I'm not going to bang my head against that wall anymore.
Yep, I tried to give him that courtesy once too, but he just wants to insult people, no point! Later!
Haha.. Yes. Bev.. we have had Many conversations in the Past.. I understand that you wish to claim you havent. but hey i expect that from a Liberal like you. Deny Deny Deny.. Not only are you a Racist. You are a Liar...
Alan NJ:
Huh? Crimes "happen" around everyone. Citizens tend to report them. Do you want to discourage illegal immigrants to do the same just to satisfy your urge to lash out at them?
Spanky:
So Spanky's answer to the question of whether he wants to see murders go unreported if the witness is an illegal alien is "yes." I can see by his attempts to stereotype Mexicans that his motive is simple racism.
Sure is nice to get a minute-by-minute update. I don't recall, did we get that much coverage when Nancy Pelosi was speaker? I didn't think so.
I think it remains a slow news week.
Of course, if they had provided that level of coverage, you probably would have been on here whining that MSNBC was shilling for the Dems and parroting every little thing they did.
Slow news week? Really? Not a lot going on right now?
Will that be mentioned in a couple of years when those members are up for re-election?
Wonder if any pictures of them standing before the TV taking the "oath" will appear what with so many cell phone cameras these days. What an ad that would make.
These dam idiots just never stop ! I honestly think no member of congress /senate should head any committees... it should be strictly private citizens who are salaried employees who cant be bribed
Add a new word to the dictionary - "jobkillinghealthcarebill".
Marilyn-2098599
Add a new word to the dictionary - "jobkillinghealthcarebill".
I 'll stick with veto pen.
works for me - but you have to remove the space between "veto' and "pen" - make it "vetopen".
Job-Killing [job'-kil-ing] - adjective - 1. Adverse to the growth of employment. 2. Opposed by members of the Republican Party.
The routing of calling something "job-killing" is getting old. We have "job-killing spending", "job-killing taxes", "job-killing healthcare"...if President Obama went to the bathroom and you didn't approve, would you say he's taking a "job-killing dump"?
Harvard economist estimates HCR repeal would cause a loss of up To 3 million jobs over the next 10 years.
Here's some job-killing for you.
Well, well well. What do liberal Blue states do well? Well, they tax real well! Looks like our Illinois posters have gotten a late Christmas present from their newly elected Democratic Governor and their heavily Democratic state legislator. The Illinois Democratic leadership has agreed to raise income taxes by, get this, 75%! The income tax now is at 3% and would go to 5.25%. After that, the income tax raise will "sunset" in 4 years (sure it will) back to 3.75%. In addition, cigarette taxes would increase 102% from $0.98 to a $1.98. The business tax hike would go from, get this, 4.8% to 8.4%. Wow!
And the cigarette tax money won't be used for deficit reduction. No, there will be none of that. It's going to, get this, the schools! Yes, it's for the children!
The claim is the income tax hike will bring in $7.5 billion a year while the 2011 deficit stands at $15 billion, so the massive tax increase will only take care of half of the deficit, maybe.
It gets even better, Democratic Illinois Governor Quinn campaigned on the promise of only raising state incomes taxes 33%, going from at most a 3% payroll tax to 4% payroll tax, Looks like he lied. Anyone surprised?
And it gets even better, Illinois officials say the "cuts" they'll implement will be to "freeze spending" at a 1% increase over the previous year over year budgets. For those that don't understand "government speak", a smaller increase in projected spending increases is considered a "cut".
So Illinois taxpayers, who were looking forward to the 2% reduction in their Social Security payroll tax that Obama signed into law, well, now you will just have to turn around and give that money to the state, plus a little more. Steal from Peter to pay Paul (or Pat in this case, Pat Quinn, Democratic governor, Illinois). And it gets better for you folks in Illinois! The SS tax holiday ends in a year, so you'll be seeing even more money come out of your pay! And of course all the Bush/Obama tax cuts expire on Jan 01/2013, so that's yet another hit to your paycheck. Of course, if you don't have health insurance by that time, you'll be forced by law to buy that too. Think you folks in Illinois will have any money left over to buy groceries, pay your property taxes, send Johnny to college? Those new taxes should really help the Illinois economy.
Good luck to the good people of Illinois. You don't work for yourself, you work for your government. Enjoy!!
And for you folks in the neighboring states like Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, get ready for a flood of people moving out of Illinois! It should help shore-up housing prices in your states.

The GOPTP's latest PR effort involves labeling all legislation passed by President Obama and Democrats as "job killing". Expect job killing added to each thing they try to repeal. If something is repeated often enough, it becomes truth.
Saw that on the news last night--the usual fussing and fuming but that goes with making tough decisions to reduce the budget problems in IL which were caused by the Bush Great Recession.
Those evil taxes, they're the cause of all our problems. Hate to break it to anyone but we cannot "cut" enough spending to make a slight dent in one year's deficit--the newly elected GOPTP can't even find $50 billion of the $100 billion they promised to cut. The only way out of the giant debt hole dug by Bush and the GOP is a tax increase; one cannot start two wars and pay for neither; one cannot pass a huge Medicare Rx Plan as the GOP did and not pay for it; one cannot build a bridge and not pay for it. Yes, a tax increase, used to pay down the debt and invest in this country before we fall further behind in infrastruture, technology, education and just about everything else.
We've barely begun the job killing Jody. The state governments that are in huge financial trouble, states like Illinois, California, New York, and Michigan, will need to do massive amounts of taxing of their people and cutting of thier government services to just start getting their budgets balanced. That means more taxpayer money to pay for less services. That will make the voters happy, correct? It also means tens of thousands of pink slips for state workers now that the ObamaStimulus money that was given to the states has run out.
Someone has to pay for all these government pensions that are underwater and for ObamaCare, correct?
As President Obama's ex-Pastor,the very Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr., once said, "the chickens are coming home to roost". Yes, they are Reverend!
So what do you suggest Jody? We pay 60%, or 70%, or more, of our pay in taxes so we can " pay down the debt and invest in this country"?
The only surprise is that 181 representatives are voting AGAINST repeal. I guess those are Obama's cronies.
Test
I am pleased the media mentioned the extra swearing in ceremony of the "absent" GOPTPers. I'm still wondering how it is these two guys could be so cavalier (and dense) as to think they could take the oath by raising their right hand while watching it on TV; I'm also still wondering how these two can BE considered smart enough to be legislators. Funny, though, we have not heard "outrage" (liberals tend to poke fun) over this compared to the GOP drum beat declaring Pres Obama really wasn't president when Chief Justice Roberts botched the presidential oath of office--at least President Obama was present, put his hand on the Lincoln Bible, and repeated the words said by Chief Justice Roberts. Sessions and Fitzpatrick were AWOL.
They didn't take the oath via T.V. That is some crap you heard on Rachel Maddow. The early show aired Maddow's clip this A.M. They were comparing MSNBC to FOX and MSNBC is uncontrollably biased.
Sorry to burst your bubble but it is what those two said when asked; they may have changed their story now but that was their reply.
From "IntheMiddle, TX" -- They were comparing MSNBC to FOX and MSNBC is uncontrollably biased.
And FOX isn't? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Thanks for the laugh.
ITM -
I don't watch Rachel Maddow but since Fitzpatrick is a local rep, that's the way they were reporting it on the local news last night. But since you probably didn't get to see that, would the LA Times do instead?:
"The two lawmakers landed in hot water Thursday after it was learned they had skipped the House swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday to attend a gathering of Fitzpatrick supporters elsewhere in the Capitol.
Sessions and Fitzpatrick watched the ceremony on a television from the party, they said, and spoke the oath to the tube. They then went on to vote as sworn-in members. Fitzpatrick, a newly elected lawmaker, participated in the reading of the Constitution, an event intended to reinforce the new Congress' dedication to the document.
Sessions participated in a meeting of the Rules Committee, of which he is the second-ranking Republican.
When House leaders and lawyers learned of the remote oath, they scrambled to come up with a fix. The Rules Committee was thrown into disarray, uncertain that its work was valid.
The Constitution requires all members to swear an oath before taking office. House rules require that the oath to be taken within proximity of the speaker".
And I don't think the Constitution meant the speakers on the big screen tv.....
this is what one hand clapping in the wind sounds like
My goodness, the nastyness on this site when someone doesn't agree with the two keyboard ladies.
A conservative is a racist, while Cut & Paste can call the white guy the orange guy, then moan when she is critized by others for her views......and the other blogger wannabe libbie can use all sorts of terms to make herself feel more important on the site by attempting to downgrade someone who also disagrees with her.
Do either of them work? They do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time blogging.
Only MSNBC and the far left nuts would make a big deal out of this, when it is really nothing that warrants all the political snipping. It's been corrected, let's get on with the people's business.
Recent HCR Repeal Polls
During November and December of 2010 there were several polls on HCR repeal. The pollsters were: FOX News, Kaiser, Quinnipiac, McClatchy and Pew. The breakdown was broken into 4 parts: Repeal, Repeal Parts, Let Stand and Expand. The average of these 5 pollsters is:
Repeal/Repeal parts = 48%
Let Stand / Expand = 45%
Not much of a mandate for repeal !!
http://pollingreport.com/health.htm
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/07/gallup-poll-may-exaggerat_n_806099.html
http://people-press.org/reports/questionnaires/675.pdf
It appears from the polls you averaged that more people want repeal/repeal parts than let stand/expand, so I would say that's a mandate for repeal. I think it should be repealed and a new bill written, to make changes to the current bill would be a waste of time and effort. Hopefully the Supreme Court will rule that the individual mandate and the cost to individual states are unconstitutional.
What plan has the Rep. come up with, and where is their transparency? Why not have their plan on the floor ready for a vote, after it is explained, with retort from the Dem.s, before a repeal is brought up for a vote. Grandstanding is why, and the politics of the right follows the same vain you say is wrong with the Dems. Also for those who want to know how sfcret distorts the truth just click on his name and bring up his response to the C.B.O. report comment under Sat. comments. It is pure fiction, thank all of you who know the truth and are willing to fight his, and others b.s.. Any retort sfcret?
