Palin’s 2012 hopes sinking?

Sarah Palin (R) remains a divisive figure. The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll that measured her favorability ratings showed the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice-presidential nominee about as polarizing as Nancy Pelosi.

A CNN poll out yesterday showed her numbers dropping among Republicans. One reason: Republicans are trying to figure out who can win, and her high negatives, particularly among independents, don't help. Why do you think it's happening, and what does it mean for the 2012 Republican field?

Take our poll at right and let us know who you think will be the GOP's 2012 presidential nominee.

$uper $illy $arahrahrah's willfull giddy ignorance about everything along with her $loppy, noi$ome, mucky word $alad$ has finally taken its toll even among the tea baggers. $arah's $narky, $arcastic, $currilous, $hameless commentary on anything & everything has grown so tiresome & trite. All those emails out of the Alaska governor's office will (eventually) clearly illustrate this.

$arah will be aborted by the GOP in 2011 because $he is unelectable. The vociferous verbal vacuuming has begun.

By the end of 2011 $arah will be a red-patent-leather-peekaboo-pump footnote. The cruise ships that ply the icy cold waters around Alaska won't even want $arah glad handing the tourists.

Of course, $arah won't glad hand anything or anyone at this point without some kind of monetary compensation.

And that is the way it has always been. One thing for sure is that she is greedy and she is milking the people who like her for everything they have.

ktlin - i don't know that I would necessarily begrudge her for taking advantage of her popularity. You know full well you would do the exact same thing if in a similar position - as would I. Though, I can certainly agree w/ you that I don't understand why she's popular w/ people and want absolutely nothing to do w/ her as any kind of elected office. She's a train wreck waiting to happen. It's just like Miley Cirus, take advantage of the fame/fortune while it lasts as most likely, the 15 minutes will be up soon (hopefully, very soon!! for both, haha).

Good and I hope he has tons ready to counter the GOP money. I used to not like Soros but now I say full steam ahead. What is good for one is good for the other. It has nothing to do with what the repubs want to do to this country. It has to do with money and who is spending it. Go Soros!

I think her poll numbers are dropping because she is showing people more of what she simply does not know. She has no ethics apparently, she knows nothing of substance regarding running the country, she insults everyone who makes any comment about her. She criticizes everyone all the while claiming to be a devout Christian. Has she ever heard of the phrase turn the other cheek? Or does she even know where that came from or read that book? She is just someone who had 15 minutes of fame and turned it into millions and maybe a couple of hours. Most republicans do not think she is even close to being qualified and she obviously does not know what having experience means. And what you have to have to replace it if you don't have experience. Someone should tell her. Like her daughters. I think they know.

Well said ktlin. The fact that she even thought for a moment she might be qualified to lead this great nation tells you everything you need to know.

My thoughts about Palin is that she is very popular with far right tea partiers, whom do not read this site, let alone much else, and are attracted by her vision and wants for America, even though they may not be clear to at least me. She will have an impact on who gets nominated by the Repubicans. In each primary, the the tea partiers will vote with whom she supports and in many primaries that will be the difference. No Republican serious of making a run can alienate her. The may tactfully dance around her but they can't distance themselves too far away and expect to win. I would like to see Scott Brown. he is young and energetic, with no apparent baggage and seems to vote from a independent centrist view. Conservative enough to address the deficit, liberal enough to keep health care with some tweaks. My vote will still go for Obama, who has acted extremely Presidential with all the hate that is thrown at him.

The Dumb and Dumber comment was pure hate, I can't see it any other way.

Palin is a red herring. She is used to bear-bait the dumb knee-jerk liberals to get them to use up their useless energy on a false target. This is great strategy, and entertaining too. All the Republicans need to do while they are preparing the serious candidates in the background, is rattle the Palin cage once in a while to get the dumb liberals all riled up. Then sit back and enjoy the cheap dog and pony show politics of the left. LOL

The Good Ship Palin has sunk, someone should tell the Captain, who was not on board at the time, about the tragedy.

I like all the people thinking about Trump,,,,,,,,Hahahaha OK, He is pretty good at Trump economics,,,,,,He is a multi-billionaire after all, LOL The only problem with that is the property lost for lack of payments and the fact that he is in debt twice as much as he is actually worth. Even at that,,,,,,It probably would still be an improvement over "Trickle Down Economics"

I'm sure when it comes to the democrat candidates, there will be plenty of corporate money as well - Google, Microsoft, Boeing, Intel  and the Silcon Valley, and then there are those like Warren Buffitt, Barbara Streisand and all of Hollywood.

It might even make Justice Roberts stand up and decide his court's decision was wrong after all - corporations aren't people and they sure aren't voters.

I think Obama has worked his way into a political corner. A no-win situation. His liberal agenda is dead. His economic agenda is a dismal failure. Twenty states are fighting in court to have the HCR bill thrown out. His oil spill disaster handling was inept. He faced political disaster in the mid-terms. His key advisers quit on him. Nothing will get passed unless the Republicans approve it. In order to compromise with the new Republicans, he will have to almost become a Republican himself. This will totally alienate his liberal, progressive base. He's dammed if he does. and dammed if he doesn't.

All the GOP has to do is present a viable candidate with real world business experience, and an acceptable running mate, and they have this election in the bag. Probably for the next eight years.

Wow, it almost sounds logical up until this point. Almost easy. Then you realize that the rethuglicans are incapable of putting up a viable candidate. After the Bush Debacle, they have doubled down on the stupid. Sharon Engle, Christine ODonnell, and lets not forget the socialist queen herself, Sarah Palin. You MIGHT have a chance with Romney, if the tea-liban doesn't kick him out of the party first

So yeah, if they can reign themselves in, they might be able to do it. Or the economy could improve and Obama gets the credit & the re-election. You can claim his economic agenda is a failure, but the proof is not on your side.

Also, as for his agenda being dead; look at all the lame duck congress just accomplished. They got more done in a few weeks than they did most of the year. It's too simple to write this president off.

                        Acidrain,

While anything can happen and it is hard to predict the future, your statement about what Obama has accomplished during the last few days of the lame duck session requires a closer look.

The DADT repeal has passed. This was a no-brainer from the start. Everyone knew it would pass. What is being downplayed is that the Generals and admirals who are actually in charge of the military, get to re-write the rules applicable to gays in the service. This will be reflected in the new and improved UCMJ.

All of the Bush tax cuts were extended. Which means that taxes will remain the same. Not much change there. (By the way, These are now the Obama tax cuts) Unemployment compensation was extended which, while needed by SOME of the unemployed, will add to the national debt. More deficit spending.

The Omnibus spending bill was delayed. This was riddled with pork. Maybe the new congress can eliminate a few tons of that dripping fat. This was a small Republican victory.

That ridiculous DREAM act was defeated for now. Another Republican victory.

The lame duck session turned out to be more a conservative victory that a liberal one. But, of course the media will spin it as great Obama progress. No real progress on jobs either.

Yes, it will be tricky to find the right candidate to beat Obama, but not impossible. If he moves more to the center to compromise with the new congress, he will lose his basic (bumper sticker mentality) support. If he doesn't move to the center, he will get nothing accomplished. This will be used against him too. He is in a corner.
