From NBC's Doug Adams
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took to the Senate mics Thursday afternoon to defend the practice of earmarks, saying it was Congress's constitutional right to spend money and vowing to fight for that right against both Republicans and the executive branch.
"I am convinced that I don't want to give up more power to White House - whether it's George Bush or Barack Obama," Reid said. "And I'm going to fight as hard as I can against President Obama on these earmarks; and my Republican colleagues who hate to vote for them, but love to get them."
Brandishing a copy of the Constitution as a prop, Reid accused conservative Republicans who oppose the earmark process of failing to understand Congress's constitutional power of the purse.
And he accused those critics of hypocrisy for sometimes claiming credit for projects in their home states after voting against the funding bills that contain earmarks. "You can look it up. But I bet if you went to "H" in the dictionary, and find "hypocrite" -- under that would be people who ask for earmarks but vote against them," said the Nevada senator.
Reid reiterated his threat to keep the Senate in session into January if necessary, charging that Republicans have obstructed progress on bills to fund the government, repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell, and ratify the START treaty.
"We are in session, if necessary, up to January 5th. That is the clock our Republican colleagues need to run out," he said. "It's a long clock."

Ol Harry was given em hell and it couldn't happen to a better bunch of HYPOCRITES! lol
Between calling out the whiney obstructionists who still haven't realized that it is their OWN fault they may be putting in some OT over the next couple of weeks and today...
Me thinks Harry's found his spine! Keep telling it like it is Harry - America is paying close attention!
Funny that Senator Kyle the first of the cry babies yesterday is the very same guy who can find the time to read all 2000 pages of the START treaty on the Senate floor... talk about priorities!
Like I said yesterday... roll out the cots and feed these bums baloney sandwiches for Christmas it's more than a lot of other people are going to have!
No. It's that he does not face the voters until 2018.
Harry Reid couldn't be a bigger idiot. Most people expect their congressmen to fund projects at home. What they expect is they are NOT Earmarks, tacked onto another bill. Introduce a bill to fund the project at home, if it passess, it passes, if its voted down, well then try again next year. Why do these people NOT UNDERSTAND we don't have money for stupid pet projects. If there is a group of people out there that want to build a memorial to Ted Kenndy or Murtha, they can pay for it or raise the money themselves.
Harry Reid - "it was Congress's constitutional right to spend money." I gues he forgot to look at the constitution on spending money on only the 18 things the Feds are supposed to be doing.
The Federal Government is not there to collect money(taxes) to send it to a state to see if pig waste is a problem. How about spending some of that tax money on securing the bordor. Let the states take of the safty nets such as unempoyment, medicare and medicade. After all, it is the states responsibity, not the Feds.
Sneaky Right Wing Senators Cronyn - Kyle & Thune (to name a few) were banging their right hand on their desks against the pork spending just yesterday... while they had their fingers crossed on their left hand (behind their backs) that somehow it would slide through un-noticed *wink wink*
Are these people for real? I may not agree it but at least Harry has the b@lls to come right out and SAY it!
Feisty, my love...
The voters took 63 House seats away from the Democrats...and gave them to the "obstructionists".
And, they took 6 Democratic Senate seats (including the Senate seat once held by President Obama in your home state of Illinois) away from Harry Reid, and gave them to...you guessed it, the "obstructionists".
I know you're not given to reflection or rumination involving subtlety and nuance...
But last month, the voters put a 2x4 to the side of the donkey's head!
Wake up!
Why should dirty harry care what anybody thinks when he has to pay off the nevada unions to keep them in his pocket?
Throw a trillion dollars at the unions and get a $ 500 million donation to your campaigns
Progressive democrats consider that a good return on investment
No wonder we are going broke
A soft spoken spine at that. Nothing worse than ripping a soft spoken man. Everyone is angry at Republicans for wanting extra time off during the holidays when the rest of us have to work and work overtime and even work Christmas day for some of us. Reid is correct at being angry at them and keeping them in Washington for the holidays. America's business needs doing and don't let them go home until it is done. A bunch of whiners is what you voted for America on November 2nd. I hope you are happy with these spending hogs you voted into office. They are full of fiscally responsible rhetoric but empty of it in their actions. More debt to our children and grandchildren because of Republicans giving handouts to the wealthy without any incentives to reinvest in this country.
Me thinks Harry found a new lapdog.
AnaBanana,
Those that were voted into office in November, are not there yet, that would be the 112th Congress, which doesn't start until January.
Although some were re-elected and get to keep their post, the new congress has yet to work together, but according to all you liberals, they are the problem.
Ever think the problem was the liberal agenda, that go voted out last month?
Thieves and rapists have spines/balls, too. They don't have a conscience, just like Reid. The American people voted, their will is well known. Most Republicans seem to get it. Obama says he is against earmarks.
And the petulant little POS Reid gives America, Obama and everybody the middle finger.
Why does it not suprise anyone he is your kind of politician.
I do hope they work through Jan 5.......about time these morons feel what work appears like.
I want to see Harry change his tune when Christmas rolls around. If the snows hit, they won't be going anywhere anyway.
Just say NO Harry, keep the boys and girls working for a change!
I find nothing scarier than a politician threatening to work.
What a pack of fools. Earmarks got rolling when Reagan was in office. Prior to that everything in the US built with Federal funds went through appropriations committees. The majority of the US was built without earmarks, and the system worked. Earmarks were slipped in to circumvent a working process. We did not need them before. We do not need them now.
Harry just wants to get his crap through before the people that just got fired no longer have a vote.
Either start installing the newly elected representatives and senators sooner, or quit allowing these lame ducks that have been removed from office a last chance to vote on something.
Harry Reid may be one of the biggest crooks in Washington. I'm disgusted by him and his use of taxpayer funds to pay off his campaign contributors.
Hey Feisty....I'd like to see you defend Reid on this article
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40565987/ns/business-going_green/?fb_ref=story_header&fb_source=profile_multiline
I think it was bold of him to stand up in front of a TV camera and officially state he loves spending money and thinks its ok to waste billions of dollars on crap. Too bad what he doesn't realize is that the American public is sick of it.
Get with it Reid!America is done wasting money end of story now go work for us not your crappy send jobs to china windmill projects.
Keeping Congress in session through Christmas and New Years all the way through Jan 5th?? I'm not sure whats better....Congress forced to sit together until they hammer out their differences? Or Congress gone so they dont do anymore more damage?
When it comes to government, I have learned that less is more!
It's like a drug addict who knows it's wrong but just can't stop.
Yo Harry, "we" have no money. None. You have to stop spending money. My kids don't speak Chinese, and I'd like to keep it that way you moron.
It seems that he has forgotten whose money it really is!!!
So then the republicans should do the "adult" thing, and allow for all the earmarks (drugs) asked for by republicans to be removed. Only people who vote for this money should get it, like they should have done in the stimulus.
If Reid will not stop pushing his socialist agenda, the Republicans will filibuster until Reid gets tired and goes home.
GO HOME REID. CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS AND GET THE F OUT OF WASHINGTON.
Stop trying to change what happened. WE AMERICANS DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU DEMOCRATS ARE DOING.
Either do I. And I would prefer NOT to speak Spanish either. NO ON THE DREAM ACT.
Otherwise, instead of 6/10 job requiring bi-lingual applicants, we will have 9/10 requiring them. I am NOT making this up.
Why is it that Spanish speaking people don't want to learn English?
Sure, let's spend waste another $1.2 trillion on pork projects before you guys are shipped home for good in a week! It's the Dems way of saying "@!$%# you" for not voting me back in after I've made all these promises and gotten billions in bribes these past few years.
It's not THEIR money! Go ahead...we DARE you! Pass it today!
Ummmmm - some of that "pork" spending = jobs
More gub'ment jobs I'm sure.
Vote Dem Out,
The “pork” part of the bill is $8 billion the rest of the $1.2 trillion is to fund the government.
Then get rid of the pork and pass the bill to fund the government.
Good grief, what's wrong with that?
And if you add Federal, State and Local government together it is around 40% of GDP. Too Much.
http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/downchart_gs.php?year=1903_2010&view=1&expand=&units=p&fy=fy11&chart=F0-total&bar=0&stack=1&size=l&title=&state=US&color=c&local=c
Dennis, who is overseeing the money that is funding the government? And you say $8 billion like it is nothing! That is the reason the government is so screwed up, because they think the same way.
-Oh it's only a couple billion! or -Oh well it is small compared to our deficit!
It all adds up and we have to pay for it, not them. They have the constitutional right to spend tax money, but they shouldn't have the right to borrow from everyone in the world that our grandchildren will have to pay later on.
DKWog,
I was not justifying the $8 billion in pork. I was only making the point that NOT ALL of the $1.2 trillion was pork (less that 1% of it is).
How much is $8 billion to me? Well it would take me 100,000 years to earn that much.
Dennis - marginal economics is great when its someone else's money. All $8 billion is our money and I don't know about you but that is an whole lot of money to me. Every dollar counts. Every dollars comes out of someone's pocket. Some more than others.
Spanky,
Vote Dem Out said: “Sure, let's spend waste another $1.2 trillion on pork projects before you guys are shipped home for good in a week!”
Just trying to make sure everyone understands that it’s not all pork as Vote Dem Out implied.
The other comment he/she made was: “It's the Dems way of saying "@!$%# you" for not voting me back in after I've made all these promises and gotten billions in bribes these past few years.”
You should also be aware that Republican/Tea Party members of Congress are requesting earmarks to an equal extent as Democrats.
Guys,
I would rather they divide the $8 billions dollars up amongst all the legal citizens of this country and send us a check to spend. I would rather eat some pork than rice.
BigBear....that would equal about $26 a person :)
Harry-you are an IDIOT. We are BROKE. There is no MONEY. Your constitutional mandate is to protect this nation and pass a reasonable budget. You have failed to do this and now you have suffered a "no confidence" vote. Don't you DARE use this LAME DUCK session to spend money. The people have clearly spoken and sent new managers to manage.
Thanks for all the spending! My grandchildren really appreciate the burden!
One thing I don't hear anyone talking about: That earmark money is going to fund things that some of YOU told YOUR representatives YOU wanted. They ain't keepin' the money, get it?
So, if YOU don't want a majority of YOUR representatives spending additional funds in this way, then tell YOUR representative that!
Be sure and tell YOUR representative YOU don't want that HUGE tax cut bill passed, because that's nothing more than DEFICIT SPENDING, pure and simple. See, "cutting spending" or "cutting the size of government" doesn't mean cutting out only those parts of government that YOU DON'T LIKE. YOUR sh*t gonna get cut to! And that can be painful.
So, before you disrespectful sh*theads call YOUR elected representatives childish names, TELL US WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP!
Then, for God's sake, SHUT THE F*CK UP! We're all so tired of your whining!
Better yet, YOU should run for something, anything. Let's see how good YOU do. Oh, right... Got to go watch Jersey Shore.
The thing that gets lost in the shuffle is that 8-10 billion is a lot of money and this gets done on nearly every bill that's passed. BO campaigned on "NO Earmarks". Now, the Republicans are saying "NO Earmarks", but the beat goes on. Nobody ever asked me nor did I vote for what earmarks should be used for. I didn't see anything like that on my ballot. Reid, and he's not alone, are classic examples of politicians who don't see the writing on the wall and just won't change? I might also add that it seems to me that Reid and Pelosi seem to think they're bigger than the white house.
I think that each expenditure should have to stand on its own or fail. No more tucking sweeteners into bills for the sole purpose of vote buying.
Seems like a simple plan. Those pork attachments even happen frequently on the city government level. Here in Phoenix, a standalone bill to fund a sports stadium, or 2 (Cardinals and Diamondbacks), failed on its own. As soon as it was attached to an education bill, it narrowly passed. I'm a big sports fan but I do not think stadiums should be publicly financed while the owner reaps all the benefits. I guess the city officials feel the tax receipts collected at events will more than pay for the stadium in the long haul. But still, I like the idea of a bill passing on its own merits.
How can they cut the deficit AND give the tax cuts at the same time like the GOP wants. They want their cake and eat it too, it seems.
They do it in the same way they have been doing it. How else could we have arrived at the point that the federal printing office is running out of zeros to put on all of the printed matter coming out of their facilities. Any Dem worth his weight in sand knows the answer is to borrow from China and pass the debt on to your descendants.
Don't blame the GOP for what is going on now, it is still a Democratic Congress and they plan on spending as much as can be found in any and all countries banking systems, damn the interest, full speed ahead.
Sure, let's work straight through the holidays, just think how much we can waste, we can ensure that the economy will never recover.
The bill doesn't GIVE tax cuts! It merely keeps in place the tax rates that are currently in place. That doesn't COST anything; it just doesn't bring in more money from tax increases. They can cut the deficit by STOPPING SPENDING! The billions of dollars of pork hidden in this almost 2,000 pages is unacceptable. This is just like when Obamacare was rammed down our throats - it was Christmas, it was almost 2,000 pages, no one read it and they just wanted to get it passed (so we'd know what was in it)! They knew this deadline was coming for 10 years yet they waited until the last minute to create another crisis; fill the bill with pork and demand it be voted on or they'll work them until January 5th. Fine! So be it! Work on; we work through Christmas. Obama can stand to miss one vacation this year. This time read the bill, understand it, discuss it and throw out all the pork. That's how we cut the deficit. The msg. was sent on 11/2 and they better listen. Another election is coming up and we're taking notes and we will remember who votes for what.
Good ;post Mary.....I am amazed at how many liberals wish not to believe this.
I dont know...Congress in session longer just adds to more misery lol
Is Reid a dufus? We just had an election where earmarks were a big issue. It is not congresses right to spend money they don't have, espcially on pet projects.
when are we going to hold obama accoutable for the promises he made many many times during the pres. election to stop all the earmarks and go through the bills line by line which were his exact words.the man lied through his teeth .does anybody remember him makeing these promises just to help him get elected and what was one of the first things he did ,he sighned one of the biggest earmark bills then he was shown makeing the same promises again.
Reid has selective amnesia. He won just over 5 points (just over 50% of the votes) against Sharon Angle yet seems to think that it is a mandate from all of America to continue his ways. Nearly half the people of Nevada don't want him in office any longer and, though I have not seen any polls or have any documentation, I would be willing to bet this month's SS check (less than $1200 and will be for another year) that he wouldn't get on the ballot if it were up to the other states. Too much power for such a dimwit.
Nothing like the boys in Washington coming out and letting everyone know that they are crooks. And yes, I say crooks. I`ve never understood how taking the tax money from everyone across the country, to fund one local project has helped all the tax payers. If the area that wants the project so bad, why don`t they do as the everyday person would do when they want to do a home project? Go to the bank and borrow the money. And in this case, being it`s a local project, borrow from the bank, get the project done, tax the area having it done to pay back the bank. Why the need to spread the debt to everyone else in the country for something they will never see or use?
Harry, I was taught to be patient and understanding for those with less, shall we say, awareness, than the rest of us. But Harry, in your case, I am going to make an exception. That is the dumbest rationale I have ever heard for trying to justify 'earmarks'. Harry, the legislative branch will still spend the money, what we want you to do, is to come out from under the table and stand up proud, when you spend it. I think if you go to the dictionary and look under H, you will find Harry. Why should millions of dollars be hidden in defense bills when the money is going to build a 'monument to Teddy. If people think that is a good idea, file a bill for 40m dollars saying lets spend 40m diollars for a monument to Teddy. If the bill goes through so be it. Wouldn't that be transparency Harry? You go get'em you paper tiger!
What A stupid, repugnant selfish old man!Your world and the American peoples world is so different you cant even imagine it and you make the rules man that just isnt right. You will be remembered and made fun of for a long time.Sadly we will pay for it,and our families will suffer from your ignorance, but im sure you couldnt understand!I believe in Karma and That your day will come!
Tax and spend, Harry!
If Reid is threatening to keep the Senate in session until January, that's probably a bad sign that Obama doesn't plan to use his recess appointment power to appoint federal judges, and force the Senate to vote on them. Obama should have done that the first time around, when the Republicans controlled the Senate - now when voting happens the Republicans will be in control.
Or, maybe this threat is designed to keep such a plan secret, so the Republicans don't try to keep the Senate in session to avoid recess appointments.
Recess appointments don't have to be confirmed by the Senate. To remain in effect a recess appointment must be approved by the Senate by the end of the next session of Congress, or the position becomes vacant again.
Republicans have placed anonymous holds on his appointments, preventing votes on them.
The republicans haven't controlled the US Senate during Obama's presidency - and they still don't. Come January, they will, however, control the House of Representatives. And not all nominees have had holds on placed on them. Harry Reid just didn't get around to calling for a vote. I am not an Obama supporter, but his nominees should have been given the benefit of confirmation hearings.
OOOPS! I know better than that! I'm pretty tired right now. Yes, the Republicans are maintaining their majority, but filibuster proof is gone.
Just -
The DEMOCRATS have control of the Senate and have had the entire time Obama has been in office.
@Tammy-311614: Isn't that what I said in the comment above yours, posted 3 1/2 hours before yours? Do you have any relevant comment to Obama making recess appointments?
Someone's balls dropped...
Harry is an idiot. It is MY MONEY not the governments. Just remember :
You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives, without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody, anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not need to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they worked for, that my dear friend is about the end of any nation- the path we are racing towards
Oh please stop whining about YOUR MONEY, blah blah blah.
Of course some of it belongs to the government. Otherwise there would be no government (and before you get all orgasmic thinking of no government, think long and hard about everything you'd be losing, like national defense, infrastructure, a working legal system, etc.). And with no government, good luck finding a stable system in which to make your precious money.
Now, we can agree to disagree about how much a government needs to operate, and exactly what a government should and should not be engaged in. But you can't in all seriousness claim the government should receive none of your money. That's part of the "responsibilities" inherent in our collective "rights and responsibilities" as U.S. citizens. Why is it nobody ever remembers anything but the rights part of that equation?
I find it interesting to note that as the U.S. plumets down the international rankings of student education (just 25 years ago we were the top of every category--math, science, geography--now we're in the lower thirds) we see a rise in this type of ill-informed screeching about MY RIGHTS. Stupid is as stupid does.
M2C2-Since we are now in the lower third in the world education ratings-exactly what has the billions of dollars the government "invested" in education gotten us? Of course they will say we aren't taxed enough to make the education system the best in the world. The most money spent per student is in Washington DC-enough said.
m2c2 -
Isn't 25 years ago about when the federal government started to mandate numerous new rules and regulations? Isn't that when the federal government started exerting more control than they should have on education?
Whatever the feds are doing - IT'S NOT WORKING - Yet you want them to throw even more good money after bad?
How much sense does that make? Why not try something different - like making and allowing teachers actually teach (which many would like to be able to do) instead of babysit?
That was Cornyn & Thune yesterday doing their comedy routine about larding up the omnibus bill and then refusing to vote for it. THEY're the POSs, in my opinion. I'd rather we stop spending on anything that doesn't directly impact (positively) the economy, but you can't blame the Dems for what the Repubs have done. Just because the Repubs SAY they're against earmarks doesn't mean they're living up to that pledge. Jus look at McConnell, Cornyn, and McConnel and all the earmarks they, personally, have added to the omnibus bill.
Don't you have a problem with the arrogrance of Harry or do you still not get it?????????????
Thanks Indie I saw Bill Hemmer on of all places FOX news hammering Cornyn for the earmarks he put in the bill. It was quite a sight a Fox news anchor calling out a Republican. Good for you Bill Hemmer.
You have to be a lying piece of crap anchor to get noticed on Fox
Linda you do not get it. It was the Republicans - Cornyn and Thune that added 100s of amendments to this bill. Now why would they do that. Did you miss the video of them talking to the press - when one of the reporters called them out on it????
I could care less about Harry's arrogrance. Go back and do some research please - look at yesterday videos.
Bill Hemmer interviewed Cornyn on the earmarks and yes, he did press him for answers. Cornyn explain, yes he admitted to his amendments but said that was before Nov 2, election and now would vote against it.
Elise, I saw the video...That reporter was asking why they are against the bill if they have earmarks in the bill. It is a good question and I believe Cornyn when he said he would vote against it. I did do some research on this and I found an Excel file that list all the earmarks and Reid had way more than Cornyn and Thune did put together. As I was reading through the list, I was wondering how many people know what their money is going for. Here is link. See for youself. This is from Tom Coburn's website. Click here for a working database of all the earmarks included in the Omnibus Appropriations bill. It's important to note that the database only refers to disclosed earmarks, not the billions in undisclosed earmarks.
thetotas...you mean he was for it before he was against it? lol
Maybe he took the message from the voters to heart, unlike Reid.
Why should my taxmoney go to Nevada or any other state's pork projects, whne I live in Illinois. If any polititions received any money from these pork projects, they should be charged with conflict of interest.
Just like Reid and his gambling buddies. And Pelosi with her husbands fish industries.
Last year when Obama (when he very first came into office) signed a budget that was also filled with earmarks, he said he had to sign it because it would help the economy or that he couldn't veto it because that budget was created under Bush. I can't remember the reason for sure, I just remember he had to sign it. BUT he said that he would NOT sign another budget chocked full of earmarks. Maybe he'll keep his word this time........ but I'm not going to hold my breath.
"Reid defends earmarks"
_________________________________________________________________________________________
Even the LIAR Obama says he will "reluctantly" sign the PORKED UP BILL
Reid, Pelosi, Obama and the other progressive spendthrifts need to be tarred, feathered and run out on a rail
Is this PORK BRIBERY why the poor fools in NEVADA VOTED FOR THE CRIMINAL REID?
Isn't BRIBERY ILLEGAL?
Where is Eric Holder?
:::crickets:::
The Republicans had plenty of pork in the bill you are referring to.
To the State of Nevada...you must be so proud!
They probably are. Much better than Angle would have been.
The Republican can harp all they want about Reid. But it is their own damn fault that he won. They could have run a mule against him and won......Instead they let the Tea Party take over and run about the only person who had no chance of beating Reid. So Republicans this one is on you. Same way in Delaware. God job Republicans.
verno....Is it really the Republicans fault Angle was the their nominee? The people vote in the primaries who the nominees will be? Angle won in an election by the people in the Republican primary against establishment candidate Sue Lowden. So the Republicans didnt let anyone "take over". This was done by the election process.
Just like Delaware....the people VOTED for McDonnell over Castle in the primary. Again, its not the Republican party's fault. Its the people that voted.
The Republican Party saw the writing on the wall and were visibly upset with these outcomes. But there was nothing they could do. So no, you cannot blame the Republican Party. You could, however, blame the Republican people that voted.
defend the practice of earmarks, saying it was Congress's constitutional right to spend money and vowing to fight for that right against both Republicans and the executive branch.
The DEMOCRAT MANTRA......It's NOT your money, it's OUR money and we'll spend it any way we want to and the nation can stuff it if they don't like it.
And you libs votes these people into office at every election, over and over and over.
Do you just not care? Or are you on the earmark list for money that belongs to the taxpayers of the nation and NOT to Harry Reid, ANY Democrat, ANY Republican, and for sure NOT TO YOU?
Cheryl: But you have no problem using "our" money for starting wars and buying armaments do you?
One is the same as the other. Just happens to be what you think is right. That doesn't make it right either.
Verno,
We can't do anything about starting those wars now. The only thing that could happen is that Congress could vote to unfund them. We all know that will not happen. Lets look to the future instead of to the past. In the unfortunate event the U.S. feels it has to become involved in another war, we can debate it then and we can all scream that we don't have the money, and maybe Congress will listen
Yup Harry, like Obama, thinks that the hard earned paychecks of the taxpayers are simply loans to the taxpayers and the money really belongs to the Fed Gov.To be spent on whatever crap temporary make pretend work project and vote buying pork fest they can dream up in an effort to enhance their own power and largess. Keep it up Harry, there won't be a Dem left in office. The Repubs need to get a spine and stop this in its tracks. If Obama and crew can't figure out how to run the government on the $2.56 trillion in expected revenues then they need to resign due to incompetence. STOP THE DEFICIT SPENDING. Balance the budget and keep our taxes at their current levels. You don't need to spend 1.5 trillion more that the expected revenues. We don't have the money.
where is backroom, late night, reconciliation in that prop of his?
Harry, Harry, Harry........................how in God's name did you get re-elected?..............
Alwaysfaithfull: As the idiotic Republican and the Tea Party how that happened. Anyone, I mean Anyone could have beat him except the idiot that the Tea Partiers picked to run against him.
Again its not the tea party or the republican party at fault. Its the republican voters of that state voting out the establishment republicans in favor of these other candidates in the primaries. Remember?
I can not believe Nevada voted him in again...........he has no concept of reality and I hope come January he gets put in his place!
I want my Bama money!
Ummm... I don't know how to break it to you... But he is in his PLACE as Senate MAJORITY leader and he's not going anywhere in January.
Do any of you have a clue as to how the government works or are you just another beckerhead, parroting what the hate merchant tells you to?
That is not what I meant!
There is no reason to be so insulting in these posts to other individuals. This is an adult discussion but I see you insulting like a teenager to many many posts. Grow up Feisty and share your views and let others share their views !
Reid is ONLY still there because of his sandwiches and Gift cards to his voters!
He is TRASH!
Say what you mean or mean what you say... we're not freakin psychics?
Interested moniker you've chosen for yourself! lmao!
That is NO excuse for the insulting comments you make!
Yes I know he is the Senate Majority Leader but come January it will not be as strong and we should still see a difference and I am hoping he will be put in his place! The federal government will see a shift and hopefully the ridiculous out of hand spending will stop! Including earmarks!
Here's a little tip for you - if you clip on the (!) you can chose to ignore author... works like a charm!
I see you're already familiar with the ! key...
Angry - Don't even waste you're time with her, she gets her kicks putting people down. I guess it makes her feel superior.
Personally, I think she needs to get laid
No wonder Fiesty never responds to me, she hit the (!) key on me. And you must be correct thetotas, she does appear to get her kicks by putting people down but I can't categorize her as a superior person.
What a sad person........no concept of what adult discussion is. That is exactly what I expect from teenagers.
Thanks for the tip thetotas and safecracker.

"hypocrite" That coming from Harry, the same guy that is trying to send 450 million in stimulus money to China for wind turbines. The same guy , a Mormon, wanting to help out online poker. He is as bad as it gets.
yet another shining example of how our govt just doesn't get it. i don't think anyone questions the concept of earmarks in general, the problem as usual, is the wasteful and/or inappropriate ways they are being utilized. essentially this dope is saying he has the right to piss away our $ however he feels like it, and will support the right of congress as a group to piss away our $ however they feel like it. incompetence and arrogance can be seen floating in the air in DC...these clods don't even attempt to hide it anymore
