Obama agenda: Aloha?

President Obama will delay his annual trip to his birth state of Hawaii in order to sign the tax bill.

The New York Times’s Leonhardt notes that conservatives’ political attacks against the health-care law are similar to the conservatives’ (unsuccessful) crusades against Medicare, Social Security, and other expansions of the safety net.

"Rahm Emanuel, President Obama’s former chief of staff, testified yesterday about his wife’s wedding dress, family china, and car registrations to prove that he meets a residency requirement to run for mayor of Chicago,” the AP writes, adding, “The Emanuels left china, photo albums, and the dress at their Chicago home when they moved to Washington in 2009, he said. He can’t live in the house while exploring a mayoral bid because he hasn’t been able to persuade the tenant in his 2,719-square-foot home to move out before the lease expires in June.”

Obama will cave in and stay in DC if the republicans tell him to, he caved in on everything else.

Why did you find it necessary to include the words "birth state" in your opening sentence?

Wow, that is a first, but it really is the insightful totally non-biased reporting we come to expect here in MSNBC land.

So how come there is no byline? Too embarrassed to own up to this? Too busy leaning forward to remember that you are supposed to at least appear impartial?

BO and My Belle must sit around and dream up the most expensive vacations they can. Hawaii the "birth state" -is that the 57th state?

They found it necessary because of people like "selfemployed" who take a good deal of pleasure out of insulting the President and his wife. Why would that be selfemployed? Is it because he is Democratic or black?

Or just prone to taking lavish vacations. You know like that trip to Spain. And he is not black, he's Hawaiian. Says so right in the article.

President Obama took a trip to Spain? Really? Have other Presidents taken vacations and were you just as outraged? Or is your vindictiveness limited to this President. And why? Fox "News" tells you daily what to believe? Or he is Democratic and black?

Isn't it cute how it's always the libs who bring up the President's skin color to attempt to push their racism onto the rest of us? And how the only vindictiveness they've ever recognized is the vindictiveness aimed toward their guy? So adorable!

Admittedly, yes, I complained less about Bush's vacations- most of them were to his home in Texas. Didn't have to rent massive quantities of hotel space for those which made them relatively inexpensive. Though I've actually come to prefer the cost of Obama's vacations to the cost of what happens when he's actually in DC.

No, it's because he never spends any time working in DC. He's too busy to do anything that might actually be WORK, like wasting our tax dollars sending his wench and brats on trips.

"wench and brats". Yep, no racism there. I know that facts are alien to the Fox "News" nuts, but you are aware that they paid for vacations themselves? By the way, the Bush family traveled to Africa and other countries for vacations. Was that all right with you? Or is it just this Democratic black President?

    How to take "lavish" vacations:

Incorporate yourself. S corp, to be exact. Then hold phony business meetings (board meetings are good- you have to have at least one this year), and write if off as a business expense. And complain YOU pay too much in taxes, vs. some working stiff in a factory somewhere. Or buy a Hummer or Escalade, slap one of those magnetic signs on the door with your name on it, and presto- another written-off expense.

    Neat, or what ?

A very good point drive by.

S corp? Way too formal. Better to go the LLC route. And please, there is no way (or need) to slap a magnetic sign on the side of my gigantic SUV - the price of which was greatly offest by IRC Code Sec. 179.

Of course you have to be self employed, and have to have enough income to offset the deduction. And then of course there are all those "phony business" expenses, because as Drive By knows, its totally cheap and easy to run a business.

But hey, the benefits, including the tax code, are there for all to enjoy. So go forth and enjoy.

Obama as President has every right to take a vacation for the Christmas holidays, it's not like we don't know he goes back once in a while, he was born there. Congress will also be on vacation and they are the ones that "don't" deserve a vacation, they haven't done anything all year to deserve anything.

The Aloha State always welcomes President Obama home for relaxation & fun. He deserves this, after-all, he is the only one that thinks about the middle-man and how they are doing. So, sign the book and Hele on Home to Hawaii.
