2010: Judge rules against Miller

ALASKA: “A state judge has rejected losing Senate candidate Joe Miller's attempt to overturn Sen. Lisa Murkowski's write-in re-election victory, and Friday granted the Division of Election's request for dismissal of Miller's challenge,” the Juneau Empire writes. “Superior Court Judge William Carey found the state's write-in count valid, rejecting every one of Miller's claims.Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell called the ruling "decisive," and said it moved the state closer to having full representation in the U.S. Senate in January.”

We missed this Thursday, but here’s Stu Rothenberg’s end-of-the-year awards, including the most overhyped candidates (Linda McMahon, Alex Sink, etc.), candidates and personalities he’s sick of (Sarah Palin, FOX and MSNBC after 3 p.m., Eliot Spitzer), candidates who shouldn’t run again (Dino Rossi, Alan Grayon, Christine O’Donnell), Worst Hair (Rick Scott, himself, and Charlie Cook), most embarrassing primary loss (Rick Lazio), Biggest upset (Renee Ellmers, Joe Miller and Lisa Murkowski, etc.), candidates we haven’t seen the last of (Christine O’Donnell, House candidates: Rodney Glassman, John Callahan, Julie Lassa), plus GOP rising stars in the House, the cockiest candidates, the candidates should start to worry about 2012, worst self-inflicted wounds (Rangel, Tom Ganley’s sex assault charge, Bob Etheridge’s caught on tape moment, etc.).

Maybe Joe Miller should go on TV and cry big crocodile tears like John Boehner did, it might get some symphony from the court. A lot of drunks go on crying jags, I wonder if this is the case for Mr. Boehner?

...candidates we haven’t seen the last of (Christine O’Donnell)

No surprise there. Apparently running for political office is all "Junior Grizzly" knows how to do.

(Does that make her a "career politician"?)

Whatever the outcome, the elections should have never come to this. There is no dignity in this political arena. I wonder, has this happened in other states across our nation? What is the true objective and where is this going nor is it showing an example to the public which, in first should have their vote’s honored even if some of the population is unable to spell someone’s name such as Murkowski than a more common name like Smiths, Jones, Johnsons, White, Miller etc. subject of simplicity. If Lisa's name were simple, would it have come to this? No offence Lisa respectfully. My own name has been misspelled as its Welsh thus I have learned to live with it most of my life and grown used to misspelling of my own name nor do I take offence but will correct it if it’s on a legal document let alone pronunciations of my own name within my control. If this spelling of the names of people running for office has to be spelt exactly as it is written for write in votes, then that would make it unfavorable for any write in candidate with a more difficult name spelling since the majority of us all do not spell uncommon names consistently under these standards especially with elections. Slandering people’s intent is what I see going on here let alone the people’s level of education in some instances. Thoughts to ponder on.

The brief filed by Miller is an awesomely-researched evaluation of Alaska law, as well as of the multi-faceted facts surrounding this matter not seen in previous filings. I suggest Murkowski will meet her Waterloo ( as in water - loo as in down the toilet ).
