The Senate will not vote on the DREAM act today. Instead, they'll vote next week on the version the House passed last night, according a Senate leadership aide.
That doesn't mean the bill is dead. It actually means this won't just be a symbolic vote. Democrats don't have the votes yet, but they think they might -- might -- have a chance to corral enough votes for passage.
Democrats need 60 votes to overcome a filibuster.

Dirty Harry,You little weasel. Vote you dipstick.
The DREAM Act equals return on investment to our economy and a show of optimism about our future as a viable society in the 21st century. This legislation gives these young people a chance to go to school, serve in the military, work hard, pay their way AND pay taxes, support themselves legitimately rather than in the off-the-books shadow economy -- there is not room in the process for criminals or goof-offs! Who can or should object to this legislation?
This bill again offers rewards to immigrants whose parents violated the laws of our nation. Deport no, reward no. Let's look at immigration and come up with a plan for everyone. Why should illegals get more benefits than our children?
Amen to Ron and Patty Howard. Illegal immigrants and their offspring receive more benefits now than children born of parents whose ancestors have been LEGAL citizens for generations.
"Why should illegals get more benefits than our children?"
Perhaps you should read about the DREAM Act. How is this giving them more benefits than "our" children? The act simply provides children who are 16 and older the opportunity to go to college. They can't get grants or aid.... and will have to pay in-state tuition. I think this is a good way to empower our future generations... why do we have to hinder people's successes? That is just inconsiderate. And by the way... your kids still have A LOT more benefits. Selfish.
Lynn: You seem like a very well meaning lady. In a perfect world, which this isn't, where there were limitless jobs and an economy well running one might consider this request. However, the way that this bill is worded is dangerous. Why should our Mexican friends have the right to bring unlimited family members into this country? I have family members in Europe, many of them. Their status is an example of what our immigration policy is all about. This country has quotas on various ethnic groups and people with certain desired skills in our society. Unfortunately for them, they do not have these skills and are still waiting to enter this country. Why should kids, whose parents intentionally broke the law, be rewarded for their unfortunate situation. Admit as much as 7.2 million family members as a result of this act-no way Jose! No anchor babies please! It is said that these kids are validictorians and salutitorians in their schools. I say good for them. They ought to be thankful for this society providing them with a great education. But how many high schools do we have in this country? We do not have 2.1 million validictorians and salutitorians in this country. Most of the people under 35 have marginal work skills similar to their parents. Let's say it like it is. The democrates see future votes for themselves as a result of this legislation. This is about politics pure and simple not about the USA and what is good for this country. Sorry Lynn! I'm sure there are other things we could agree upon, but not amnistry.

"They can't get grants or aid.... and will have to pay in-state tuition"
Perhaps you are the one that needs to go back and read the Bill since you obviously haven't done that yet. Or perhaps you just didn't look in the right places to find the information that you are mistaken about. Either way I will help you out so you can find it a little easier before you put up another BS post. U
under Section 4 of the House's Bill it allows for illegals that have not been convicted of a Felony to file. It also allows a person that has up to three seperate misdemeanors to apply for this benefit.
Under Section 11 of the Bill it expressly states that the illegals will be eligible for Stafford Loans and Work/ Study slots. It also allows for these illegals to file for Social Security Disability Benefits among other things.
It is ridiculous to claim that giving the illegals any kind of Amnesty is "fair". They have no rights to any of the thousands of dollars in benefits they have already received and the American tax payer should not have to foot the bill for them any longer.
Um, Stafford Loans are government loans paid back with interest, not a free handout. I should know, because I and several of my friends used them. Also, if you're able to file for Social Security benefits, it inherently means you're paying taxes...again, not a freebie.
I'm not 100% behind this bill, but Lynn made an excellent point in that there will now be some level of accountability from the people who qualify under this act. They won't just be getting handouts, but will be paying back their part to society. Or we could just continue to not do anything at all. It's ridiculous to gripe about a problem, but not be willing to try to fix it. Nothing is perfect indeed, so we make adjustments as we go. But that's too much trouble for most people.
Please be aware that people with no more than 2 misdemeanors are able to apply for the Dream Act.
I don't know about you, but I do not have any misdemeanors on my record.
Why in the world do any of you supporters agree to allow criminals to become American?
Misdemeanors ARE NOT just minor crimes and how many do you have on YOUR record?
THE DREAM ACT IS A NIGHTMARE FOR AMERICANS.
a speeding ticket is a misdemeanor in many states...as is jaywalking, smoking in public places, disturbing the peace (loud music)...
Ron & Patty Howard re: "this bill offers reward to people whose parents violated the law"
Truly, this bill does not "reward" anyone. It allows people who have done nothing wrong to serve in the military or attend college and work while doing so. When you're treated like everyone else, it's not a "reward".
We do not punish the children of criminals for crimes permitted by their parents. Why should these children be punished, especially when no one benefits from the punishment?
Duh. In other words they must pay for their own tuition, just like everyone else.
Loans must be paid back, or do you not understand the concept of a loan?
Work/study means they will be allowed to work, be paid for that work, and pay taxes on their wages, just like everyone else.
Notice that the bill does not guarantee they will receive loans, or a job, or acceptance to a college. They have to earn that just like everyone else.
It is a Class 3 misdemeanor in many places to use foul language, spit, or make obscene gestures in public. Likewise driving and parking violations. I'm guessing Karen in LA is not as lily-white as she claims, and who cares if she is. The point is, the DREAM Act does not apply to criminals.
CommonSense?????
You don't really have any do you???? No good arguments left. All your posts shot down in flames. Ignorance is Bliss and you are apparently the poster child for it. Loans have to be repaid! Duh and what if they decide not to repay them Einstein where in the Bill does it say they will be deported if they don't pay back their loans??? It isn't there genius. This Bill is as lame as your arguments and just as dead after next week. It won't get past a filibuster and that makes it dead over the recess especially with a new Congress coming in Jan. Dream on Commonsense but get another dream this one has come to an end for you and your illegal friends.
That may be the only true thing you've said all day.
Loans have to be paid back. Institutions that make loans are competetent enough to secure loans. Perhaps you've never heard of words like "bank" or "collateral".
Hey Ignorant of Commonsense
The loans are paid by tax payers funds. If you didn't have your head so far up your 4th point of contact you would have seen how competent the banks have been in the last two years. I swear your posts are funnier and funnier everytime you type something. What collateral does an illegal give up to get a Stafford Loan Einstein? Not one. Is there anything in the Bill that says the illegal will be deported if they default on the loan? No there isn't. Over 31% of community college loans are defaulted on each year, so what makes you think they will do any beter paying theirs back than anyone else.
This Bill is dead and so is your dream. I will be celebrating its demise with the knowledge that after this year many states are in line to follow Arizona's lead with SB1070. Then we will see the pressure put on the Administration to do their jobs and force the illegals to leave. End of the Dream and end of your argument.
The loans are paid for by the people who pay them back. Once again, duh.
Obviously you believe that all loans to someone not of your 'inherited' privileged class status will be defaulted on, and there is no point in appealing to any sense of reason or sanity in tat regard, nor the competence of the Congressional Budget Office to take defaulted loans into consideration in preparing their estimate.
The cost of loans that are defaulted on are absorbed by everyone else who makes a loan from that institution. That is one of the reasons we pay interest on loans. DUH!
commonsense
Again you did not answer my question what recouse is there against an illegal that defaults on their loans? Also Einstein you continue to think that there is an infinite number of loans that can be made and you obviously don't know who pays for them.
By the way I read the CBO report. They think that an insignificant amount of illegals will try to use the loans. In fact they say only 15% are estimated to use the program.
Lets look at that in money being loaned to illegals that shouldn't be here in the first place. The estimate is that 2,000,000 illegals would be eligible for the program Lets say half of them enroll in college. 1,000,000 new students. Of that 15% take out and use student loans to pay for their education. 150,000 illegals using a program that would allow them to "borrow" up to $57,500 a piece in tax payers money. That comes out to $8,625,000,000 or $8.625 billion dollars. If the average of 31% defaults carries over into this group and there is no reason why it wouldn't then the American tax payer could see $2,673,750,000.00 go unpaid by a bunch of illegals that again have no right to be here in the first place.
Your argument is lame. One other thing the CBO report does not contain what it costs for the states or the cities. Most illegals are not property owners and therefore do not support their local institutions with any major payments in property taxes. Again those numbers are not factored in by the CBO.
Commonsense try not to site a report that you obviously have not read. Also don't site a Bill until you have read it first. In all yourother posts you tried to claim that they would get nothing from the tax payers. You continue to show your ignornace and you run from the questions posed to you.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard, your kids will be able to obtain drivers license, your kids will be able to receive financial aid during college, your kids will receive a plethora of scholarships because they are citizens, your kids will be able to work after obtaining a diploma (worked very hard for) from college. I am beyond happy your kids are entitled to these rights because I, on the other hand, am not (despite my numerous merits and outstanding performance). I am a senior in High School this year, and little do I know what will be of my future. Yet, there is one single thing I am passionate about, and that is education. I am in the pursuit of a higher education. As I read news about the Dream Act, I happen to encounter a number of individuals who are against the Act that will quite literally save me from the obscurity of the world I currently live in. If you oppose the Dream Act, you are opposing my dreams... You are opposing me. God knows how hurtful that is. Mr. Mrs. Howard, imagine if your children were hurting like me. I am blissful they will NEVER EVER have to feel the way I do. May their future be bright and prosperous.
ihaveadream- so sorry, go blame your parents , not some legal US citizen, we did not do this to you your parents did, just be thankfull for the education and time you were illegaly given and go back to YOUR COUNTRY and enjoy the fruits that legal US citizens gave to you , and remember that your education was paid for by us. NO DREAM ACT, NO AMNESTY EVER
;( i was hoping for today ....
Not today and next week it will get shut down too. Once Friday roles around and the recess begins this Bill will be dead. Then the Congress can begin to enforce the laws and make Janet do her job or resign. I'm hoping that she can't stand the pressure and hits the road along with a bunch of her open border supporters.
I think this will be devastating for us as a country if it doesn't pass. Scott Brown is hearing from us up here. We're asking him to vote for it. Please contact your Senators, both Republicans and Democrats. It's Christmas. Giving back.
Let's try to really give back to the military. Support them in this.
Pat,
Why is this so important? Why should tax payer funds go to aiding people in this country illegally? What we need to do is reform the immigration laws so that people have a safe, easier, legal path to citizenship. I do not support any bill that takes taxpayer funds and gives it to non-citizens to go to college, while our own citizens get turned down for financial aid. That is WRONG!
But to compromise, I would probably accept the military part of the bill, where if someone who went through US schools and joined/served in the military for 8 years. I am not asking them to serve all 8 as a full time soldier, but 4 in service, 4 reserve, and pay for their college through the military, after they have served 4 years. That I could probably compromise on.
Why is this so important?
Because I got to see a lot of them interviewed during the midterms. They, more than anything in the world, want to remain in America. Did you see the tears in their eyes? They don't feel they belong here, even though it's the only home they know. I was very very impressed with them.
And I tried to put myself in their shoes. I can't imagine going through what they're going through. As far as the military, I despise that idea.
Pat said:

Thats because the y DONT BELONG here. Their home is wherever their parents are from..... Mexico, France, Bolivia, Russia....wherever....
Im sorry that these little kids can be forced to go back to wherever they are from but that is not our problem. We have so many other problems and not nearly enough money to cover those costs that we CAN NOT afford to pay for them to go to school.....especially when my kids get to be ready to go to school the government isnt paying for it....I am.
Pat.... does that mean because anything more in the world my daughter wants a pony I should be required to give it to her?
If they want to be here legally go back from where they are from and apply for citizenship. I wouldnt have a problem with illegal alien children being moved to the top of that list since they were raised here....but why should they basically get amnesty just because their parents were shifty enough not to get caught by INS when there are people who follow the rules and have to play by the rules?
Sure its Christmas so lets be generous and reward criminals for their behavior! It would be more appropriate to give the American people a Christmas gift by ridding our country of Illegals and their children. Maybe by taking the burden of paying for these freeloaders and their offspring out of the equasion, our own children might have a chance! As for our Military, you seem to imply that our legally born American soldiers are not capable to handle their jobs, and our country won't be safe without the Dream Act passing and the illegal children of illegal lawbreakers being a part of our Military.
mon glas, I screwed up. My comment was meant for the DADT thread. My mistake.
Pat,
I worked along the border for 3 years recently. I have seen what goes on there. I do feel their pain, but at the same time, I have to believe in the laws of this country. Spending money on illegal immigrants to receive a college education while many of us born and raised here are denied those funds. That is wrong. If they want to reform immigration, that is fine with me, get rid of some of the restrictions, make it easier. But to take taxpayer funds, which we are already short of, and give it to non-citizens, well that is a different story.
My opinion in with the military is that they have served and will serve the country for 8 years, therefore they have earned the funds for college and citizenship. I could compromise on that part, but that is just me.
BB: These are people who have literally grown up here. I know you want to see some things changed with immigration reform. I do too. But I just have a hard time sending them away from the only life they know. Military should not be required. Even for those who propose war but don't want to serve.
The military isn't cut out for everyone. It just isn't. But I respect your opinion.
In other words... they can stay if they are willing to serve our military as mercenaries (for which we will spend taxpayer funds to them).
Either way we are spending money on ILLEGALS... now for military service and then on a GI Bill.
Just kick 'em out! (Along with their law breaking parents!)
I guess there is not much room for compromise on some subjects.
This vine brings out the worst among us. These kids were born here, they are not criminals! If their parents came here illegally, not their fault! IDIOTS The reason many repubs hate this plan is that these kids will be educated, therefore be Democrats. Can't have more compassionate people in America, We might start caring for one another....can't have that. This idea that the "pie" is one size and giving more to some means less for me is stupid. Let's make a bigger pie. These kids are more american than most of the posters here.
Big Bear,
I typically agree with the points you make on this forum and enjoy reading your well thought out posts.
But as for having room for compromise... Not on this subject.
The dreams of our own children are what is at risk here. Funds for education and the jobs that follow that education should be spent on our own children... on our citizens.
These illegals can blame their parents for the woe's they now face. Legal paths to citizenship exist and had their parents followed these paths we would not need to have this discussion. Just like everything else in this day and age people want immediate gratification. Why would they take the long road to citizenship when all they need is a dream.
Sick,
I understand, I have worked along our southern border, I have seen injustices and I have seen a lack of law in this country.
I would only compromise on this bill if they had to serve this country, through the military, to prove that they want to be US citizens. Especially, the so called "anchor babies". Children can't always be responsible for their parents actions. I am glad that I was always responsible for what my mother or father did. Of course they did have to be responsible for my actions--not that I feel sorry for:)
I have stated before we need to reform our immigration laws reformed, if that is the will of the country. Many people come here, work, contribute, and support our country, and that is wonderful, but it must be done legally. But if there is compromise, which makes government work, then I believe that they should serve our country to earn their citizenship. You may look at it as them being mercenaries, and to a point, you are correct. But in my mind (sometimes weak), I see that they are showing their pride in our country, wanting to become a citizen--just as those who wanted to become Romans centuries ago. They had to earn their citizenship.
Wow, everytime I hear the comments of those opposing the dream act and their reasons to not support it, I realized why America is where it is now.
You people speak with hatred and racism and not with rational. First of all, READ ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WHAT THIS BILL IS ACTUALLY ABOUT and then you should comment on it. Too much ignorance is driving me nuts. What are those benefits you speak of that they get and take away from your children??? Please list them all and then we can talk. Do you realize how ignorant you look when you just speak and have no information at all? What do they qualify for? What are they getting and taking from your little ones? Why do you call them criminals? What you ever blamed your kids for something you did. If you get stopped for running a red light do you blame it on your kid? Is he arrested too and given a DUI when you have been irresponsible? NOW DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS BILL? Successful children and young adults who have graduated with a college degree and whose only interest is to GIVE BACK TO “THEIR” COUNTRY. They won’t be asking you taxpayers for anything. They will be GIVING you a better quality of life by adding significant taxpayer revenue with their contribution in their professional field. They could perhaps be the generators of jobs for “your children”. You are not giving anything to criminals, or people that will be a burden to this country but to people that will have a significant positive impact on your lives. FACE IT. THEY ARE INNOCENTS THAT ARE ALREADY HERE. THEY ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE AS MUCH AS YOU FUSS ABOUT AND COMPLAIN. Face that fact and now you have to make a decision: do you want a future America filled with adults whose higher education is high school because we did not allow them to move forward? We would really have a problem then. Or do you want future America filled with white collar professionals creating together a stronger nation. If you really cared about your children you would choose that better option because this is the world we are setting up for them. So leave your hate and racism aside and actually think with your head. And please know the topic before you decide to comment on it.
JR what a bunch of B--- S---! You obviously would sell our nation down the river...left loon! America is not perfect, for sure, but it is the best thing going. Thats why everyone wants to come here. Let these people become activists in the own nations, change the laws, UNvote the corrupt politicians. Uphold their own ideals! How about if we do an even swap, you send your kids to Mexico, Equador, Cuba, etc and we'll keep theirs here. Sound fair? Sign your kids up ASAP please!
I came into this country when i was 10 years old now i am 19 years old and graduating at the top of my class tell me how i do not know the day of tomorrow or how ill ever have a good job i have no choice but work as a house cleaner... I had no choice coming here like many other children because if i did i wouldnt have came here leaving all my fiends and family back but now the only family and friends i have are here i dont remenber those people back in my country anymore. But now feel guilty and humiliated with other peoples opinion and judgments, little comments they make.. At the age of 16/17 most of my friends were getting their permits and now their license but i cant... it hurts me inside to see how people are so selfish and only think about themselves, i wish so much that this immigration thing wouldnt make us so different but i thank god everyday for the supportive friends i got that does not treat me any different from them.... this act will not provide us with citizenship it provides us some type of passport or social security for me and other children to have a little hope to be able to go to a great college, eventually having a great future and having a license being able to drive and be like any other teen.. My country is here, this is my country no matter what others day, my family and friends were made here back in my country i have nobody i do not know anybody i only know my grandparents and few aunts, uncles and counsins....no matter what others say this is my country like any other american and i treat people as i would like to be treated myself and i do not treat them differently because of their race or what country they came from... but because we are all human beings and their is no difference between you and me at the end of the day we are all equal.... God bless those who agree with this act and god bless those that dont either, but at night i hope they think of me and many other under aged immigrants that have no choice or had no choice coming to this country and put it in their heads that i did not have a choice to come here i see this as my destiny...GOD BLESS AMERICA THE LAND OF THE FREE.......
"The truth is that despite a handful of successful reforms, the state of American education is pitiful, and getting worse. Spending on schools has more than doubled in the last three decades, but the increased resources haven't produced better results. The U.S. is currently 21st, 23rd, and 25th among 30 developed nations in science, reading, and math, respectively. The children in our schools today will be the first generation of Americans who will be less educated than the previous generation."
I say before we even think about The Dream Act lets get our Act together get these scores up, reform our education system. I cant believe they are even talking about this, let alone trying to pass a Bill.
Bontempo
"it hurts me inside to see how people are so selfish and only think about themselves"
Guess what Einstien, You are the one that wants special privileges be granted to you that others have waited in line for years to get. You got a free HS education. Depending on where you were born in the world that is a huge plus. Why should we as tax payers need to support you in a college education when we have so many unemployed in the Country.
Actually it is your parents that were the selfish ones for breaking our laws and bringing you with them. It s you who are also selfish in that you think we owe you something when the fact is the people of this country don't owe you or any other illegal a dime.
You got your free ride for the first part of your life. You got thousands of dollars in benefits that you nor your parents will ever pay back. No to find the selfish person in your life's story you need look no further than the nearest mirror.
Here is a tiny violin for all of you who characterize AMERICANS WHO SAY NO TO THE DREAM ACT as racists.
Puh-leez. We don't like lawbreakers. That is not at all racist.
Looks like Karen didn't learn her lesson during her Time Out. Do you think you really make yourself more heard by using the caps lock? Most people stop reading as soon as they see all caps. It's a sign of irrational emotion.
Just what we need - non-English speaking American soldiers defending our country. Wake up, people!
Sorry to burst your bubble MICHAEL LOCKWOOD!! but many illegal immigrants pay their taxes with something called a taxid # and guess what they dont get as much of their tax money as they should.Another thing is do you know who keeps all that money not claimed by illegals who work with a fake social???? THE GOVERNMENT and everyone else benefits from it!!!
KAREN OF LOS ANGELES...honey where are you? if you are in LA you are surrounded by hispanics and in reality this Dream Act would not only help hispanics but brazililans asian etc.....
I agree in deporting the acutal criminals who have robbed killed etc..but someone who has a DAMN ticket for no drivers license...come on, PATHETIC!!! we say racist because all you see is nationality and not humanity!!! these "illegals" as all you call them do not know of any other place but here as their home!! so for all you "AMERICANS" Living off of the government guess what..these kids want to become DOCTORS LAWYERS SCIENIST..SOMETHING many americans take for granted!!!!
VIVA EL DREAM ACT!!!!!
do52000
Guess what genius those thast have that tax id number are also filing for their federal income taxes at the end of the year. They are getting back the same amount as any other filer but doing it illegally. There are hundreds of thousands of them that are using the same ssn as legal residents. Its called identity theft.
Not all of them pay taxes however all of them with children have and still are receiving thousands of dollars in benefits. So how much more are we supposed to pay for people that aren't supposed to be here in the first place. In other words Einstein they take out a lot more than they have ever paid in.
Considering that taxes on the earnings of those covered by the DREAM Act will bring in more money than the program will cost, a better question is:
Why should we prohibit some Americans from going to college of serving in the military? What is the benefit of that?
And yet they better represent the ideals upon which this nation was established than you do.
Yet another untrue statement by Michael Lockwood. What a surprise.
As far as the DREAM Act is concerned, the Congressional Budget Office estimates $2.8 billion in revenue from increased taxes paid by the children covered by the program versus $1.4 billion in expenses over the next 10 years. So for the DREAM Act, they pay in DOUBLE what "they" take out.
In general, as far as unauthorized Americans are concerned, in Texas (the only state that has done a rigorous, scientifically valid study of the matter), the undocumented pay in a NET $142 million per year in taxes over and above the services they receive from government, and they add $17.7 BILLION to the state GDP. That provides a LOT of jobs for US citizens. Nationally, undocumented taxpayers pay $8 to 9 billion a year into the Social Security system, even though they are not eligible to receive benefits.
commonsense
I knew you would pull out that tired old report. I was waiting for you for so long because you tried to use this before but ran away when confronted with the facts just like you have done this whole post. The "rigorous scientific study" as you claim it to be was done by the State of Texas Comptroller who was trying to get the Mexicans to vote for her at the time. Please site the science behind it.
The Fact is she didn't include the costs of education or health care. If you read the report it even states that fact. It also doesn't take into account the expenses of local governments in dealing with the illegals or any civil cases against them. Try again genius.
Try reading the PEW on Hispanic Studies report. They added it all up and gave a low estimate that illegals cost tax payers approx. $43 billion per year. and a high of approx. $65 billion. This study was in line with FAIR, RAND and others that had no motive to try to show that illegals don't cost anything.
Before you show more ignorance look and you will see that the PEW for Hispanic Studies is about as open borders as you are.
What you need to do is go sit back on the couch drink your open borders kool aid, hold hands with all your illegal friends, sing kumbaya, and come up with some other "scientific study".
michael- you will never shut commonsence up, he's an illegal too, he's just gasping his dreams dying breath, he does not get it, we don't care how smart , how "American " these illegals are, we don't want them here, we don't need them here. they need to go back to where they came from. I don't care how long they have been , THEY ARE ILLEGAL. NO DREAM ACT , NO AMNESTY EVER
Education costs ($806 million in fiscal year 2000-2001 and $957 million in fiscal year 2004-2005) are detailed in Section 3 of the report. Health care costs are covered in Section 4. That "old" report is dated December 2006. Republican Carole Keaton Strayhorn was first elected as State Comptroller in 1998 and did not run for reelection in 2006.
I guess you're wrong. AGAIN. and AGAIN. and AGAIN.
Commonsense
"Carole Strayhorn was first elected as State Comptroller in 1998 and did not run for reelection in 2006"
Oh you are so right nonsense because she was to busy trying to use her BS report to get the Hispanic vote for Governor of the State of Texas. You continue to be lame. She didn't run for reelection as Comptroller because she was running as an independent for governor.
"Undocumented immigrants produced $1.58 billion in state revenues, which exceeded the $1.16 billion in state services they received. However, local governments bore the burden of $1.44 billion in uncompensated health care costs and local law enforcement costs not paid for by the state."
-- Carole Keeton Strayhorn, Texas Comptroller
Straight from the report. Can I paint the picture any clearer for you. The local governments had to pick up a billion dollars in bills above and beyond anything the state took in form these illegals. Do you get it now Genius or do you need someone to explain it to you in kindergarten English so you can keep up. You tried to BS on all your posts you got called and you are wrong again. Want to go for another round Einstein or are you done proving your total lack of comprehension of the issue.
Bushwacker
You are probably right I just hate letting an illegal try to get away with posting BS on how it would be to our benefit to pay for his or her education and to allow their illgal carcuses to stay here and be a drain on our tax money and on the economy that isn't getting any better any time soon.
THE study by the PEW Center? Which one? THE RAND study? Which one?
You dare say F.A.I.R. 'studies' have no motive behind them? The same F.A.I.R founded by Richard Tanton, who wants to bring a kinder, gentler form of eugenics ('racial improvement') to the United States than the program used by the Third Reich? Richard Tanton who wants more abortion clinics in balck and Lationo neighborhoods; spearheaded the "self-deport" movement as a cheap alternative to concentration camps; and wants to see the population of the United States shrink to 150 million, half its current size? The F.A.I.R. that routinely makes up numbers and is considered a joke among those who make a serious study of demographics? The F.A.I.R that has never published a report in favor of immigration and wants to ultimately stop ALL immigration to the United States. The same group that blames global warming on immigration to the United States?
No thanks. Those guys are hacks.
michael my parents pay taxes because we do have a tax id but we never got a penny back from the government... and the dream act dosent give us any aid of any kind to go to college which i would have to pay it with my own money... but its ok cause this bill will be approved next week it came this far....thank for your opinion that dosent make a difference in my life :)
Bontempo
You can spread the BS just like Commonsense or maybe you are one and the same. No matter. I got news for you Einstein this Bill will not be called for a vote next week by Reid. If he brings it up it will be filibustered. Look that up in your Government 101 class. That means it will die and not see a vote. After Congress recesses next week the Bill is completely dead because it will not make it on to the floor of the House.
Your Dreams will continue being just that a Dream.
Commonsense
Do a little research Genius go to the other ones websites and look it up. If you look the FAIR was the lightest on the cost estimate for illegals in Texas. I included them because of that fact. If you had the brain power to power a minibike to ride inside a cheerio you might be able to find that you have been wrong on every account. Even Politifact shows you are wrong. Keep drinking that Kool Aid no common sense. Maybe something will open up in that trap door upstairs and you will be able to understand that you are wrong andf this is never going to happen.
BUSHWACKER01 seriously your name says it all LOL!! :D
MICHAEL LOCKWOOD
Tell me what will you do when the DREAM ACT is passed?? Absolutley NOTHING!! hahaha
You claim to be educated? I dont think you really are.Your just another REDNECK RACIST sb who keeps saying "it cost us" "why do we have to pay" seriously?!? regardless you will always have to pay taxes whether or not the "illegals" are here...Get over it!!!
when the law passes i can guarantee you it will benefit the U.S. of A!!!! and you all will eat your words!!!! hahaha
VIVA THE DREAM ACT!!!!!!
P.S. they dont get the same amount of taxes back as a citizen would with the taxid # idiot!! get your facts straight!!
xoxo :)
do52000
Just be here next week when good ole Harry calls this for a vote and you watch it go down in flames and you and the rest of the Open Borders crew can choke on your defeat. I will celebrate the Bill's demise with a few shots of Patron and by beating the Hell out of a Pinata
Viva That!!!!!
wow michael what a mature "man" you are lmao!!!
piñata? hahaha i love those!! Mexicans invented them!! n guess what its not just mexicans it will help!! once again IDIOT!! hahaha
do52000
You are the one that has reduced their "mature self" to name calling. I realize it isn't just Mexicans it will help. If you read my other posts you will see that I never singled out one country or another. However you don't see the President of Poland, Prime Minister of Britian or any of the EU Countries calling for this. You also don't here the Prime Minister of Japan, President of South Korea or and other Nation dictating to the U.S. how it should treat the illegals.
Nope the only one doing that is the President of Mexico and most of the groups behind this have Spanish names. The majority of people this would have helped are those illegals from Mexico, Central, and South America.
Again this measure is dead. By the way did you read the news. The Judge in the SB1070 case booted almost all the other people and worthless groups that added their names to the law suit against Arizona and let some more of Arizona's law take effect.
After Arizona's anti illegal job Bill gets through the Supreme Court next year SB1070 will follow and then there will never be a chance for you dreamers because most of the other states are lined up to follow Arizona's lead and illegals will be forced to leave or starve.
Self Deportaion by illegals doesn't cost the tax payers a dime so hit the door and don't let it hit you in your 4th point of contact on the way out.
you are just too close minded to care!!
Nope you are wrong. I care for my fellow Americans. I care for my fellow tax payers and I care for my family and friends. I see no reason for any legal resident of this country to be saddled with a Bill that gives special treatment to a bunch of illegals that shouldn't be here in the first place. Your parents are to blame not the Ameican people. If you need another place to put the blame blame it on your home country for being f#$ed up in the first place.
Go home and demand the people of your Country foot the Bill for you to go to College. They would probably line up to beat your a#s. Go home and tell all those that have been waiting in line to come here the right way that you should have priority over thyem because your parents committed a crime and brought you with them. Explain to the people that have been waiting to bring family members over legally that since we already gave you thousands of dollars in benefits that you should be able to jump the line and come before them.
No I care for a lot of people. However; I dont care for a bunch of whiney a$sed illegals that have had the benefit of a free education given to them and then demand more.
We must stop any elected official who supports this undermining of America. The only option to deal with illegal aliens is mass deportation, and changes in our laws to prevent immigration in any form. Get the aliens off my land, off my roads, out of my schools, and out of my pocket. A failure to enforce laws related to immigration should be met with charges of treason and must apply to both the Legislative and Executive branches of government.
Hell... Why not? After all that worked out so well in 1940's Germany now didn't? *iinsert snark*
Let's round them up in the dead of night and mark em shall we?
Hate to be the one to break it to you HillClimber but this is NOT your country... this is OUR country whether YOU like it or not!
People like you, represent what is wrong in America today! So MUCH hate & bigotry you can't even see straight!
Look out Hillclimber,
Feisty Redhead is awake and has had her coffee. LOL
Good to see you Edward...
You & Hillclimber appear to have much in common... wasn't it you who was floating that very idea around last weekend?
you ignoraant hill climber!!! this country is nothing without immigrants, you owe them for work on your land and working in the military. i totally agree with feisty redhead roselle, il.
hope the bill passes!!!
Fiesty what exactly is wrong with only wanting people who are here LEGALLY to actually be here again?
Illegal immigrants are felons as their being here is illegal.
Is it your position that we should just have open borders then?
you ignoraant hill climber!!! this country is nothing without immigrants, you owe them for work on your land and working in the military. i totally agree with feisty redhead roselle, il.
Wait now I owe the illegal aliens something? What pray tell do I "owe" them?
This is just as ridiculous as sying because Im white I owe american indians or black people retribution because of stuff that happened to blacks and indians generations ago....
This is what is wrong with America..... everyone thinks they are owed something
How can they pardon people for breaking our laws and make them citizens and then give me a speeding ticken? What part of illegal do you not understand?
And another thing HillClimber, Larry, Edward and the bigot ilk who like to pretend their true Americans... unless you are Native American you are an immigrant yourself!
@ Larry: Hon... do try to focus please! We are discussing what should be done with the innocent children that are here already. NOT border security
I'm well aware that one of the oldest tricks in the GENOPEE playbook is when you don't have an answer try to change the subject...
@ Laura: You GO GIRL! ;0)
Feisty dear.... go up and look at some of my other posts in this very thread.... I understand completely this is regadring the "innocent" children....that again...are still ILLEGALLY here.
Read my post where I said I had no problem with them going to wherever their home country is and being moved to the top of the list of people applying for citizenship.
Why is it that if someone thinks that the only people who should be here are those that are here LEGALLY are called bigots?
So punishing innocent children for the crime their parents committed is acceptable to you?
If that's the case then let's make sure it includes white kids and not just the brown ones!
And there you have it...
As usual...
Let the racial remarks begin...
(Thanks again feisty)
I always find ignorance amusing. The comment you posted is by far the most ignorant statement i have ever read. "Get them off my Roads!".. Reply: Sorry we cant they are bulding them ... "Get them off my schools!".. Reply: Sorry we cant they are top students in the school system... "Get them off my pocket!".. Reply: Sorry illegal immigrants are not able to collect any federal aid and yet are required to pay taxes as if they were AMERICAN CITIZENS.. Now before you start posting ignorant comments.. Go to school and educated yourself.. If not maybe read some of the latest statistics realeased about the financial benefits that the DREAM Act would create... Oh one more thing.. i never knew you were interested in being a farmer, a grass cutter, a construction worker, or even a cleaner.. On behalf of all the immigrats i want to say "Sorry For Taking Your DREAM Jobs"
hillclimber does not realize that he is an immigrant! He thinks his parents sprung from the dirt in Alabama or where ever he is from.
Don't give me this "they were legal" crap! When most white immigrants came her they came through San Francisco or Ellis Island and were done with process in one day. Not so easy now...is it? What would you do if your kids were starving and your only hope was to cross border and clean toilets for 7 dollars per??
The more I hear out of these right wing nit wits... the more convinced I am that they're hatched!
I hope that this law does not pass!!!! All of you need to go back and begin the process just like everyone that wants to be here leagly. I think our US Citizens should be first and not reward people with giving them the right to be here just because. They all need to follow the process and pay their money.
Feisty - Why do you always bring race into it?
thetotas
Normally a person will bring race into the argument because they have no other argument to provide. I guess Feisty Red Head doesn't realize that illegal is not based off of skin color though I could see how she could be confused since the only ones screaming for this program are the Groups like La Raza. Maybe she was fooled because Mexico's President supports it and he is a brown person versus say any of the Presidents of the EU who have been totally silent on the matter.
Calling a person illegal is not racist it is a statement of fact of a person's immigration status. Illegal no matter what the color or country of origin is still illegal and the only concern that our Government should have in their welfare is how fast they can be deported from our borders.
Calling a human being "illegal" is a propagandistic ploy to delegitimize their entire existence. An act can be illegal, but not a person. The intellectual dishonesty is appalling.
Not true. "Being here" is not against the law. You're here aren't you? Crossing the border without inspection and allowing a visa to expire prior to leaving the country are misdemeanor civil infractions, not criminal felonies. There are very important differences between the two and very good reasons for the distinction made in this case.
But no stretch of the imagination can allow labeling a child "illegitimate" or "illegal" or a "criminal" just because the child's parent committed a misdemeanor civil infraction years and years ago.
Commonsense
I was born here. my grandfather was full blooded Apache Indian. My grandmother was part Cheyenne. I have every right to be here. On the other hand the illegals do not. They are criminal for being here because they are in violation of immigration laws. Hopefully soon they will all be shown the error of their ways and given a quick ride to a deportation center and then off to their home country.
how long is this nightmare going to go on for end it all ready you @!$%#!ng losers kill the dream before it kills us
bobby you are by far the funniest person i have ever met.. let me give you a piece of advice.. rather than lisenting to sound bytes or clips of information, you should maybe do some reasearch of your own.. maybe take sometime to fully understand a bill and not be ignorant and post pointless comments
PS: Passing "The NIghtmare Act" (Dream Act) will decrease government deficit by $ 1.4 Billion and increase the government budget by almost 2 billion. However if this is to complicated for you to understand please comment back and i will TRY to find a more simple explanation
dreamact-let me spell it out for you- we don't want them here, I don't care how smart they are , they are ILLEGAL, they must go back to whatever country they came from, and yes it will cost us about 6.2 billion after the first 10yrs. and where do you think the money to implement this and pay for all the new goverment employees is comming from, thats right , my pocket. so NO DREAM ACT, NO AMNESTY EVER, now whats racist about that.
If this passes We will be paying the price for decades. This is chain migration at it's worst. Let's watch this bill and who votes for it. Get the walking papers ready for any senator that votes for it.
For your information Edward,
The estimated cost of passing this bill is $900 million dollars.
But guess what? The Congressional Budget Office recently released a report saying that "enacting the bill would reduce deficits by about $2.2 billion over the 2011-2020 period" meaning that in the course of a dream act beneficiary's lifetime, altogether they would contribute billions of dollars back to the economy.
And for your chain migration theory, this bill is specific to those people that were here before 16 years of age and HAVE BEEN HERE for 5 consecutive years prior to passage of the bill. It's also stated that it can't be for another 20 or so years before they can start petitioning others in their family for citizenship.
Please get your facts straight before taking sides. People's dreams are on the line here.
Funny... but my kids have dreams too.
Dreams of getting a higher education and finding a job... both of which will likely go to these illegals if this bill is passed.
What you people seem to forget is that OUR OWN CHILDREN'S DREAMS ARE ON THE LINE HERE!
What say we take care of our own first!
First of all, think about who you're calling "illegal." You might not know it but the kid sitting next to yours might never have a chance of even going to college. What the Dream Act is asking for is NOT AMNESTY but a chance for opportunity. A chance to have a shot at living in the only country they've ever known WITHOUT the risk of deportation.
The fact of the matter is, this is only giving these people (mostly kids) a chance at the opportunity to succeed. In the 10 years of conditional residency that the Dream Act promises, the beneficiaries would still not be able to apply for ANY federal aid for school, healthcare, or any type of help besides the shot at applying for citizenship or permanent residency. It is ONLY asking for the rights that the absence of a piece of paper is depriving them.
This is a hurdle that U.S. citizen's children DON'T have to face. And you're only afraid of a little competition?
What would a Republican need with an education? You do not need a college degree to be succesful in America. College requires "free" thought, which squashes religion and conservatism, so Repubs should steer their kids from college, unless it is liberty or bob jones ha ha!!!
These illegal aliens should go back to their home countries and apply for a student visa. This is done all the time. They will have the opportunity to be here legally while enjoying, and paying for, their American education. Once their visa runs out and they are done with school, they can go home and, if they desire, apply for U.S. citizenship. SEE??? No new legislation needed here
Edward
Exactly
Put yourself in their shoe, they came to the States without their own choice.
There are people who violate and didn't follow the law, but this bill is to support who are talented, didn't break the law, and they will eventually be the benefits for America.
Hope do they have the proper documentation to prove that they are here legally?
If not then they are breaking the law....
I do feel bad for them but if a person wants to become a citizen of this country they need to follow the laws
Sorry but 'WE' are not the bad guys here... their ILLEGAL parents are the ones that crushed those kids' dreams.
BTW... how the heck did those kids even get into our grade schools and high schools without fake documentation? They have already gotten a free-ride on our dime attending out public schools as illegal aliens.
Enough is enough!
Sick,
They get into the schools because most school districts depend upon children in attendance to get their federal funds and state funds. The more kids, the more money. Of course in many schools, it is important to teach in their same language, while they learn english as a secondary language. Those funds are taken from the federal government to pay for those types of teachers.
But hey, it's just taxpayer money, whether it is local or federal. As long as it is allowed, it will continue to happen. Just as allowing our tax code to encourage cheating.
Amen, BigBear...
My point exactly!
Hahaha clearly none of the people above me have attended any public school lately. English is and will always be the first language. Now if you are going to talk about tax payers and how illegal immigrants are not tax payers than you do not know what you are talking about. Illegal immigrats, even though they sometimes use fake documents, are still required to pay their taxes (federal and state). Now how do they "pay" these taxes you may be asking your self? Well the same way we all do.. We all get a deduction from our paychecks. In addition a last piece of information for you all.. Illegal immigrants CANNOT use federal aid. So these illegal immigrants are not only paying their taxes, but they are also paying for your future social security check ;)
like teaching a pig to sing You are spot on DreamAct, but do not assume that these people care about facts. They are cowards who are afraid to say what the real problem is.
Dreamact,
I can tell you from personal experience, when illegal immigrants come into public schools they are placed in special classes so they can learn english--while being taught in their native language, especially early in their school careers. As they learn more & more english they are placed in regular ed classes.
There are several different federal funding areas to support these programs. From title I through title IV funds and maybe even more. Although Spanish is the main language barrier that most schools have to deal with, many places have to deal with different Southeast Asian dialects, and even some Middle Eastern dialects.
And although illegal immigrants do pay taxes, they pay the least amount out of each and every check, because they claim as many dependents as they can. They probably won't file income tax returns, just so they won't get caught. But most schools are funded by property taxes at the local level in the areas that have worked, so unless they are purchasing property in these school districts, then they aren't paying for school services. That are federally mandated.
Snap!
If you want to actually read the text of this DREAM ACT, go to PROJECT VOTE SMART.com
You can also see who voted for it and who voted against it. Print out this voting record for future reference.
if they need to deport anyone, they need to deport everyone whose ancestor were not here at least 500 years ago so all u whities go back to ur europe they way you got these lands is what is illegal, now if youre not willing to do that then shut up and give these people a chance, they DIDNT break the laws. There is no chain migration because they wont be able to sponsor no one for another 25 years if the bill passes. they will be payin out of state tuitio so the government will not help them with nothing dont worry lazy white people. i say give them a chance or are you scared they'll do better than you all? you probably have friends in this situation, do the right thing dont be cold close minded radicals.
Thats right!!
Well said my friend.. not only has American been formed and inriched by Immigranats, America It Self is inhabited by Immigrats.. No matter how red your neck is or how African-American you consider yourself you are all ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS who's ancestors massacre and destroyed a rich civilazation, that was the NATIVE AMERICANS so all NATIVE AMERICAN PEOPLE ONLY OWE YOU GUYS A TRIP BACK TO WHERE YOUR ANCESTORS CAME FROM... And another thing.. I never knew that someone would go to school to become: A Farmer, A Construction Worker, A Grass Cutter, A House Cleaner, ect. because those are the JOB THAT THESE FILTHY, LAW BREAKING, CRIMINAL, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS (WHO "SHOULD" ALL BE DEPORTED) ARE TAKING FROM THE DEFENCELESS, LAW-ABIDING AMERICAN CITIZENS... I never knew there was so much competition to work in such awful and brutish JOBS..
This is the land of Immigrants
25 years? Please tell us where that is located in the Bill otherwise your post is BS. Also if you read Sction 4 of the House version the illegals applying for the benefits can be criminals with up to three misdemeanors and still qualify to stay. Actually they may be granted a waiver on hose or any other restrictions because the DHS will have the authority to grant them.
Section 11 says that they will be able to get Government loans and qualify for work/study programs so your BS about them not getting any help from the government is just that a bunch of BS. According to the law they will also be eligible for Disability payments under Social Security.
So go ahead please tell us again how they aren't getting any special benefits and how this is the smart thing to do. Explain how it is fair to give these illegals special status when other immigrants have taken the legal path and waited for their turn the right way.
I'm native American and as such, I want all you illegal aliens out of here, all you do is whine and moan about poor me, well we are tired of poor you, go back to your own country and stay out of mine , NO DREAM ACT, NO AMNESTY EVER.
Many Immigrants have done a lot for America and have been very productive. I believe most of us that are against the DREAM act are only talking about illegal immigrants. The voluntary military has enough legal people eligible to serve and they don't need any illegals. Also according to the bill I saw, the illegal would only have to do two years of military service, or 2 years of college. When I was in the military (1960 - 1980), legal residents had to serve three yrs service before being allowed citizenship. This bill is nothing but a pay off by Senator Reid for the support of the Hispanic community in the last election. He has been pushing this for sometime and promised, in public, if the Hispanics voted for him he would get this passed.
Please stop using the term "illegal."
Would you call someone who's had a speeding ticket once "illegal" all the time?
No... but unless you have proof of citizenship you ARE ILLEGAL ALL THE TIME!
Someone who came here "illegally" and remains here is "illegal". Your analogy is bogus. The Dream Act is a nightmare once you get beyond the name. Just another example of Congress attempting to pass legislation with no attention to the details or ramifications. Obamacare revisited.
AL dreamadvocate
How do the two even compare except in your mind there Genius. If you speed and get caught and pay for your fine or do traffic school the problem is taken care of. If you are here illegally you are illegal 24/7 until you get out or your immigration status changes.
I know Alabama has taughtyou a little better than that but then again I know that Alabama also has a growing illegal alien problem that should be getting the boot here after the first of the year and the new state Congress takes over. I will just guess that you are married to an illegal or have kids by one or you are illegal yourself or possibly all three
First, don't judge me by my screen name alone. I am none of the things you seem to think I am nor do I live in Alabama.
And second, it still does not justify calling someone an "ILLEGAL." The term shouldn't be used as a noun by itself.
AL DREAMADVOCATE
Well if calling them what they are is going to get you panties in a wad I will add alien then illegal wont be so lonely. How about that?
Yes, that is the proper term: ILLEGAL ALIENS. There is no reason to educate illegal aliens and then try to keep them here. We have plenty of talented, bright, young, American kids right here already. We don't need illegal aliens competing for scarce jobs. What we do need is for congress to get away from this B.S. legislation and work on what everyone is desperate for....JOBS. Don't go on Hawaiian vacations, don't play basketball, just work on getting Americans JOBS.
Gee, I feel sorry for the all the starving children in all the many third world countries, can't we just print up more money and send it overseas. I feel sorry for the people that live in thatched roof huts, let send the CBs over there to construct all new housing. You bleeding hearts have no understanding of simple math and financial accountability. The only problem that needs to get fixed with immigration is the lack of its enforcement.
It would cost more money to deport every single undocumented person here than it would to give citizenship to some who could contribute more money back to the economy anyway.
I am not looking to actively seek out and deport all illegals, just when ever they do something that puts them in the fore front, like breaking the law or trying to acquire public tax dollar funded services. Your point appears to be mute.
yeah... because I am sure that everyone of these illegal alien children will grow up to be a doctor here in America.
I mean... if we are gonna dream we might as well dream BIG!
ENFORCE SANCTIONS on employers of illegals. Force illegals to step south on their own dime. Keep deporting violent illegals upon arrest. DEPORT ILLEGAL PRISONERS.
I don't think you guys catch the drift of how much this would be more of a benefit than it is something to suffer from.
Out of the 11-12 million some undocumented immigrants here now, about 2 million of them would benefit from a bill like this. Now because of what is ruled under this legislation, what with all the paid tuition without any federal financial aid whatsoever, an assurance of a clear criminal record, as well as paying for application fees out-of-pocket, less than half of the initial applicants will qualify to apply for another 5 years to complete their conditional residency and therefore apply for permanent residency.
In those years imagine how much money the economy can conjure up from these people who are paying taxes and fees. Citizens don't have to worry about anything but "a little competition."
In those expected numbers of less than half, these are the ones that would rise up despite all these obstacles, those are the ones who would become doctors, lawyers, and your future leaders.
Face it, illegal immigration will probably never subside. What do you want these kids and young adults to do? If you can't find every corner they live in, they WILL stay here. And what of them? Why don't we give them an opportunity instead of fighting their own war through crime or any other unlawful activities.
You may not be able to deport them, but you go after the employers with heavy fines or jail sentences.
AL DREAMADVOCATE
Another BS post. You are another one that has not read the Bill and as for my future leaders. I think not. Your post just proved you are another non-reader of the Bill and just follow the 'open borders hug everyone and make them citizens' talking points of the Liberal left wing.
Mass deportations would not be very hard. There are so many fish that, at first, our nets would be close to bursting. Using the National Guard coupled with the local and State police and Ice agents, we could sweep an entire city in two or three days. Those found here illegally, we should fingerprint and obtain a DNA sample of. Then, humanely, deport them all. Their assets here should be seized and forfeited to help defray the expense of these deportation sweeps. This could also be a way to put many Americans back to work. Two problems solved for the price of one.
Post your opinion but do not label us as criminals..
I'm not justifying my parents actions. but i do think i have allot to offer I have degrees in Aerospace Engineering & Graphic design and i have worked on many government projects to help the fighting forces overseas. When was the last time you did something like this for your country?
Why do i keep hearing that if this bill is passed we would be cutting in line for those people who do it the right way.. HAHA please tell me what line that is so i can jump in. IT DOES NOT EXIST!
WE ARE NOT CRIMINALS! WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS WHO LOVE THIS COUNTRY! LEGAL STATUS OR NOT I AM AN AMERICAN!
Love your own country. Leave now.
Frank -- thank you for sharing your story with us & I apologize for ignorant PIGS like Roseann!
WOW.. modern day Hitler does exist!
fiesty- if you want them here YOU PAY FOR THEM, I don't care how smart or how long they have been here, they need to LEAVE NOW, NO DREAM ACT, NO AMNESTY EVER, and before you call me a racist or a pig, I'm native American, my people are the first nation, and we don't want them here.
Frank,
You hit the nail on the head. It is all about legal status. You apply for citizenship after you go home. Then, if you are successful, I would be the first to welcome you to America.
We don't need no stinking "Dream Act". My dream is to deport all illegals period, that is my"Dream Act".
@ techman-2776792,
What are you so angry about? I would not be surprised if you were a person who has no skills or ambition to make life better for you or your children. You see, when you strive to better your own life, you stop envying those who have nothing just as you stop envying those who have more than you do.
Right now you are using technology that has alot to do with immigrants who wne on to become citizens. I guess you think all immigrants work in the tomato fields right? I challeng you like JFK (do you know him?) asked. What can you do for your country...stop dwelling on what your country can do for you.
Can anyone here name 50 inventions that came from the U.S.A??? pretty easy right?? The list is practically endless. Can anyone name 10 inventions that came from Mexico??? No?? How about 5?? What?, can't think of 5??? Okay, how about just one. C'mon just name ONE invention that came out of Mexico.
So this is the face of our illegal aliens. Know nothing, contribute nothing. A huge drain on society.
Being here illegally is a civil offense, not a criminal offense. It's not even a misdemeanor. These young people have worked hard in school and then found out that they were undocumented, when they wanted to go to college. The DREAM act is a chance for them to begin the long road to serving this country either in the military or as a responsible taxpayer. Many of them are studying engineering which a discipline that this country desparately needs. The Congressional Budget Office has determined that this ACT will actually reduce the deficit by over a billion dollars. This is a first step towards comprehensive immigration reform and not amnesty. I'm glad that my ancestors did not have go through this when they showed up here.
The CBO also said that healthcare reform would save us money, my companys' health insurance is going up 25% in January, THANKS ALOT...NOT!
That was going to happen anyway, especially as companies take benefits away and ship jobs overseas. Too bad we don't have single payer. I am an independent consultant and my health insurance went up, but thanks to health insurance reform, I was able to to move to another plan. That's because I don't have to worry about pre-existing conditions. I also got better coverage for a lower premium. THANKS A LOT ... Yes we can!
Spare us the bleeding heart sob story. We've heard it all before. Just don't let the door smack your behind as you leave.
We don't need no stinking "Dream Act". My "Dream Act" would be to deport all illegal aliens.
The MEXICAN DREAM ACT WILL NOT PASS. These people, add the kids, need to start stepping south on their own dime or face DEPORTATION. Our ECONOMY DEMANDS IT. They are here illegally. We cannot give preference to rude ILLEGALS. They have destroyed Mexico. Let them go back and fix all of Latin America.
Please stop generalizing undocumented people to just Mexicans. They can also come from white-dominated countries. People seem to forget that their own ancestors are immigrants brought here legally AND illegally.
Roseann do you know how much money USA spends on third world country education each year?
do you know how much is also spent on other government funded organizations that are not helping our economy?
im gonna give you one example!
the Government spent over 6 million dollars on funding for a museum that shows an image of Jesus Christ on the cross with his body covered in ants. stating this was ART! EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE!
There are hundreds of Gov. Funded Org like this one. You should stand up and tell our GOV to stop spending money on things such as the example i gave you and start investing on the people willing to create small businesses to reduce our unemployment rates..
The numbers given on the what would be the "COST" of the DREAM ACT are wrong.. America can only benefit from this.. You are no one to destroy someones future..
truth is your 9-5 job is not helping our economy!
YOUNG AMERICAN STUDENTS WEATHER LEGAL OR NO ARE THE FUTURE THAT'S A FACT!
Frank...
Maybe you should get and education...
the word is "WHETHER" not "WEATHER"
HAHAHAHAAH!
Well im not sitting on my couch at home like you.. i have an office to run.. so im typing pretty fast.
but the fact that the only reply you have after everything i said was a misspelled word makes me feel good REAL GOOD.. if we stood face to face and diplomas and degrees side by side you would be crushed my friend, maybe that's what pisses you off the most.. the fact that someone illegal could be more successful than you! Im praying for you and the millions of people like you who only care about their own well being..
God Bless Everyone
"work at making your dreams come true before someone else puts you to work at making their dreams come true"
Immigrants in America come in all colors and languages, There are Chinese, Russians, Irish, Africans, Asians and Latinos. many people here are spewing venom directly at Mexican immigrans because that is all they think about when they hear the word illegal. The truth of the matter is that they never seek the facts, and will not listen to any if provided. Some of the "so called illegal immigrant kids" are right now fighting and dying for this country in Iraq and Afghanistan, while "American Talibans are on the plotting mass murder in Pakistan, Yemen, and other places. One thing that you anti-immigrant hate mongers can be sure of, is that your efforts are retrogressive to the growth of this great country.
You will emasculate the voices of reason for a while, but in the end the "Tsunami of Change" will win. By the time you are tired of making noise, China will be the World's Superpower with satelite states (puppet states) in Africa, and Russia will be holding Western Europe hostage by dictating who gets gas and oil in Winter. The Great U.S. of A, will be a toothless bulldog fighting only diplomatic wars because It cannot afford to go to war to defend its allies.
Why do you think Iran, and North Korea can thumb their noses at the US? If Russia wanted to unleash another invasion in Georgia, there is nithing the US can do. If China invaded Taiwan today, there is nothing the US can do. Year by year, this country's impact on the world stage is diminished by internal political and bickering, from people who feel entitled to everything and not responsible for anything. It is time to look at what is best for the country Viz-a-viz the rest of the world, rather than the petty politics of waving the patritic flag only when it suits your immediate family.
BENBEN
Right, you can't say all illegal aliens are Mexicans. However, if we deported all Mexican illegal aliens, I don't think what's left would even be a factor.
EDWARD-1075991=racist
So your prejudice against mexicans? WOW!! 2010 Dear!! and we have a black president!!!
Basically what you are saying is get all the mexicans out? hahaha well theres many brazilians asian etc who need this act to pass aswell SMART ONE!!!
do52000,
You miss the point I was making entirely. The point is: The majority of illegal aliens in this country are from Mexico. Majority means more than 50% (That means more than 1/2) I happen to like Mexicans.
We don't have a black President, we have a black man in an empty suit that pretends to be President. Like a kid dressing in their parents clothes and playing grown up. Doesn't really matter now. He is a super lame duck non-entity who will be hamstrung and hog-tied for the remainder of his sorry term.
Edward and every other racist...LOOK back when all the deportaions started right after that was when the economy started going down!! Because of all those people that got deported and were paying banks for loans etc. that was the time when banks were going down the drain!!! heeellllooooo WE need immigrants that are hard workers who wount take for granted their residency/citizenship unlike all these crack heads killing inocent ppl for drugs and HOMELESS!!!
Come on, Roseann...we all know it's easier for them to come here & destroy our nation than it would be to fix the mess they created back home. Let's be honest for a minute...what they left behind is exactly what they're bringing here.
Suzen,
What they left behind?? Unfortunatley when the ppl are not in control of the president/governments actions it can creat either a mess or greatness!!! What have they brought here Suzen? these kids have been here for many years and have tried to help as what they are capable of helping with.
Do any of you read the BIBLE!!
get in touch with your inter spirit if you even have one!!
I think what many of you are scared of is others showing all of you they are better then you in many many ways...these kids are humble...well i might as well stop due to the fact that you all are CLOSED MINDED and arent really thinking of anyone else but yourselves.
In all of these years that these kids have been here it has not gotten worse now has it !!??!!
IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES!!!
do52000....What are they bringing here? How about crime? How about rudeness? How about drugs? Slovenliness? All I have to do is open my front door, walk out 6 steps, & look to the right, & there it is. My next-door neighbors are illegals. Nobody in a house of roughly 12 people has a job. They're all on welfare. Meanwhile, he works on cars all day for his drug buddies (who pay him in drugs, not money), leaving our neighborhood looking like a south side car salvage yard. They're out drinking beer & blasting Tejano music all day, which I'm forced to listen to. Not a damned person in that house keeps an eye on 7 or 8 kids, as I've seen a 2-year-old girl ON THE ROOF with not a parent in sight. The older kids are running around at all hours of the night. The older ones have set fire to a vacant house down the street. They've gone as far as to build a "shed" in their back yard, which they use to shelter illegals for a night, then they're gone & a new bunch comes through. The police are called out here AT LEAST once a week because of whatever it is they're doing. Their house on the inside looks like a slum, with holes they've punched in the walls, over-crowded with junky furniture, & beer cans everywhere. The list goes on & on. THAT is what they're bringing here!
@bigbear62, Hill Climber
I believe your problem is that you rely too much on soundbites. Do not believe every populist soundbite. Read, and discuss issues with people who have a different opinion. It is only from such conversations that you can understand what the dream act is about, and whether anyone is getting anything for free on taxpayer funds. Many of the kids how may benefit from the dream act would make model citizens. Consider this:
1. they will not be high school dropouts.
2. They will have to graduat from college (and pay for it too)
3. They must have no criminal records.
4. Enlist in the military (and maybe die defending your freedoms)
Are these the people you would wnat to see live in the shadows and meybe become criminals for lack of opportunity? How much do you think they will be yaking away from American citizen kids? Or in terms of tax payer money that is wasted annually on congrssional earmarks? By the way, how much is the amount that illegal immigrant children benefit from in college funds, and how many American citizen kids apply for and are denied the funds? Is it reality or just drumbeats in your heads?
BENBEN
well said BENBEN
BenBen,
They are already criminals. They have broken our laws and continue to do so each day that they remain here. We don't care if they drop out of our high schools. They shouldn't be in our high schools in the first place. We don't need them in our military. If they want to be in the military, they can join their own country's military. The dream act doesn't require that these illegal aliens graduate from college, or even get passing grades. Only that they attend. (read the bill). We don't need more illegal aliens competing for scarce jobs. They are a huge drain on our resources and need to be shipped home immediately.
sfcret, I agree that this bill is a reward for Hispanic support for Reid. But why not pander to the hispanic vote, he has a good leader, after all Obama did the same thing. He even did ads for George Lopez during his campaign when he should have been working on his speeches, but he chose to go after the hispanic vote by pandering. It is what it is, illegals can picket out streets with signs that they are not treated fairly, while wearing T-Shirts that shout MEXICO. Go figure. As for Frank: you are an exception not the rule. Congrads on your education and on your job performance, Thank a teacher in the US for that.
We need to tell our Senators that Americans support immigration policies that reward hard work and education.
It is a tragedy that this bill hasn't been passed already. Now is our chance to come together and find real solutions. DREAM Act now!
How about we get a bit more information before jumping the gun here? Let's go over some of the misconceptions that are common:
1. The Dream Act is Amnesty.
- The Dream Act is most certainly NOT an Amnesty movement. Amnesty in immigration is when legal status is automatically given to a recipient without them having to do anything for it. It's sort of a free pass if you will. In the Dream Act, each of the recipient MUST enroll in armed forces or a college/university for a minimum of 2 years. This way they are either volunteering their lives for this country, or earning an education to give back to this society. After this, they must maintain good moral character, not commit any crimes, and be an active part of their society for 6 additional years before they can even apply for citizenship. So they have to do a lot more than what someone who will just apply regularly the normal way.
2. They should all go back to their country of origin and come back the legal way.
- This is easier said than done. There are unfortunately two factors that limit this:
1. US immigration policies
2. a 10 year Ban to re-enter the US
Fortunately, most of you never had to actually apply for a greencard or citizenship to this country from another country, so you don't have the slightest clue at how extremely difficult it is to get here legally. The US is one of the toughest countries to enter legally. If the country you are coming from is not considered one of the US Allies (meaning any smaller countries or 3rd world countries), that number becomes exponentially smaller. So someone from the UK has a far higher chance of getting a greencard to the US vs someone in Uganda or Philippines.
Also, the Bush Administration implemented a new policy where ANY immigrant (without a status) who leaves the US, is automatically banned from re-entering the US for a minimum of 10 years. So these kids can't just "leave and come back legally", at least not for 10 years. So imagine telling your 14 year old son that he can't come back to the only country he knows until he is 24.
3. This Bill will cost Tax Payers a lot of money.
- The way the bill is setup, it will not require any tax payer support. Each of the qualified candidates must pay a fee to process all of their documents, so all of the processing funds (which most likely would have required money from the tax payers) will be covered by that processing fee. I believe the fee is $525 per individual for the application, and then a $2000 for the extension. So this is a self-funding bill, and not everyone can even pay for it. Also, those who want to go to college will not be given any form of government financial aid, meaning they would have to pay the tuition themselves. This is actually increasing the revenues of local colleges/universities.
On the contrary, if this bill is passed, and the impacted individuals become a citizen in 10 years, they will be able to contribute to the society and work, and pay their taxes. So this would equate to 800,000 individuals working legally and paying their taxes annually.
If the bill is not passed, the other solution being proposed is to deport all the illegal aliens. Just so you know, when the US deports someone, that individual usually stays in a detention center (anywhere from 1 - 6 weeks), plenty of ice agents have to work with the individuals and do paper work, they get free health screening and immunizations done, and the government pays for their plane ticket out of the country. So those individuals do not pay a dime, but you do. So deporting someone will significantly increase the tax for all the US taxpayers vs passing a self-funding bill.
4. This will lead to chain migration.
- Each of these dream act candidates have to wait 6-10 years before they can even apply for citizenship. After that, they must wait anywhere from 2-6 years to become a citizen. So even if they sponsor other family members, it will be 10-15 years later. Chain migration is already happening in this country legally, and that's not a problem. Once these kids are citizens and are sponsoring the family members LEGALLY, the US will be able to keep track, and it will allow more legalized immigration vs having everyone just coming illegally and hiding.
5. It will be difficult to prove things with the undocumented workers.
- One of the requirements for the bill is each child must graduate high school or get a GED. Getting into any school in the US will require information and will have records of that child. So tracking back information for people will not be difficult. As tough as the INS is, if an individual can't prove any of these things, then they will most certainly get rejected from the processing. Also, many of these kids have actual immigration documents that show all the records perfectly. Many of their parents may have came here legally, and just overstayed their visas, so there are actual INS papers with all of their information.
6. Laws are laws for a reason, and not meant to be broken.
- Many who are arguing this fail to realize who the bill is targeting. Yes, laws were broken, but by the kids parents or elders, not the kids themselves. Even in America, if a 4 year old's dad goes out on a murdering rampage, that child does not get locked up in prison once they are older. If a police officer pulls you over for a speeding ticket, he does not give that ticket to your 6 month old baby in the car seat. Children can not make adult based decisions when they are kids, and have no control over where they go or will be. Majority of the kids will do what their parents tell them, and go where their parents take them. Punishing these kids for their parents crimes is unjust. Many of them have absolutely no knowledge of their parents countries, nor do they speak the language. Having them going there now is the equivalence of you dropping your child into a foreign country and telling them to adapt and make it their home... it's just devastating. This bill is not targeting kids who have criminal records or the "bad apples" of the society, but those individuals who are smart, courageous, and ready to lead us into the next generation.
Let these kids prove to everyone that THIS is their country, and they want to belong here. This bill is giving them that opportunity. If they can't, then they should go to their parents countries. However, don't deny them the opportunity to try.
I'm sure there are more misconceptions about this bill and how evil these kids really are, but my suggestion is for everyone to really READ the bill and understand it before jumping the gun and coming to a conclusion.
Fortunately, most of you never had to actually apply for a greencard or citizenship to this country from another country, so you don't have the slightest clue at how extremely difficult it is to get here legally. The US is one of the toughest countries to enter legally.
So instead you come here illegally.
@thetotas - At no point in my statement did I mention me, and I'm not sure if you are asking that in a general sense or not. I'm simply stating that it's extremely difficult to get to this country through the normal legal means, especially if you are from an underdeveloped country. In the past (mid 80's and early 90's), it was easier for immigrants to come here illegally, so a large number have come here illegally. However, I think the Bush administration as well as the Obama administration has taken a lot of steps and made it much more difficult for people to enter illegally. The border could still be much more secure, and needs to be more secure, but we need to take care of the problem at home first.
All these bleeding heart discussions almost bring a tear to my eye. But many Americans can smell the B.S. from Washington. These people are illegal aliens. they have broken our laws and continue to break our laws just by remaining here every day. They should be punished, not rewarded. This is a last minute ploy by Harry Reid to pander to the hispanic vote and to try to suck in another 20 million loyal Democratic voters. We need to start the sealing of our southern border, and start the mass deportations immediately. Anything less is totally unacceptable.
okay first of all these goes to all the people who think the Dream Act should not pass...
why do you think that these kids should go back to where their parents are from? we should have the same opportunity as everyone else no matter if they were born here.I don't know if yall have heard the news from Mexico but why would you want to send us back to where there is killing, kidnnaping and viloence going on with inncoent people involed, now you're basically sending them to a place where they can get killed, why don't you put yourselfs in our shoes and think for a second if you were in our position of having to deal with this,if you were to come into the US to have a better life for you and your family..because that's all we want a better life so we can provide for our love ones it's not easy,my mom has worked hard to give me and my brothers what we didn't had in Mexico, now I'm trying to provide the best for my daughter and I want to be able to go to school to have a career and provide for her.
I now ask how can you be so selfish to say to send everyone back and not give them the chance to be able to go to school and like someone here said...YOUR KIDS STILL HAVE MORE BENIFITS!
Ivonne Garcia
You are right you should have the same opportunities as anyone else. In your own country but not here .Why do you try to blame the citizens of this country because your homeland is so f$%ed up. You should go home and fix it and take your illegal parents with you. That way you won't be alone and will have someone to talk to.
Basically you are saying that is alright to break into someone Else's house because you were hungry and just trying to provide a better life for yourself and your family. You whine and complain and blame the tax payers of this country because your criminal parents broke the law and involved you in the crimes. You need to look no further than your parents for a place to put the blame.
Your argument is lame and ridiculus. You are illegal and so are your parents. Go back and change the economic climate in your home country instead of thinking that you are owed a further free ride here.
Wow, very ignorant comment Michael. Why don't you take your own advice and fix your own country, the US? I mean something's not right if people are voting on something like this right? Oh wait, you can't and you won't because you're probably too lazy to do it. Ivonne can't go and change her parents country because it's not possible for anyone to just change a nation. It takes a large majority, and years to implement real changes. Some of you need to get off your high horse and realize that other people are also significant in this world besides yourself. Oh, and don't forget, your ancestors "broke into someone's home" a long time ago, and it wasn't because they were hungry or wanted to provide for their family.
Oh, and I mistakenly gave your comment a check, and wish there was a way to take it back.
because you are not legal, GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM, what is so hard to understand about that, we don't need you or want you here. NO DREAM ACT, NO AMNESTY EVER
Well hell,
Why just give these kids a free pass? I'm sure there are many millions of deserving worthwhile kids all over the world that would just love to come here. Lets just dismantle the border and tear up all our immigration laws. Y'all come. We could even advertise in such neat places as India, Thailand, Russia, Africa, Haiti, and lets not forget, CHINA. Got to be several hundred million wonderful kids just from China who would love to come here and make you chop suey for you.
Moesizlack
I don't need your conformation on anything I say. You are the one that probably hasn't done anything in his life time. You sit back and drink your lib kool aid with your head up your 4th point of contact and leave the Country to the people that matter.
BUSHWACKER, MICHAEL,& EDWARD
THEY are the reason why their is crime in the U.S. They are ignorant racist human beings!!!!
and selfish at that!!!
You say you matter? lol this is the country of freedom!! Dudes i wish i could have respect for everyone of you but you are def not earning it!! if this is how all "americans" think then AMERICA will never get any where!!!
These kids have been through hardships n sure as hell will take advantage of seeking GREATNESS!!!They will be RESPECTFUL & be RESPECTED unlike yourselves!!!
I really feel sorry for you three because it is obvious the rage you have in your heart!! I will pray for you all!!!!
do52000
So Bushwacker, Edward and I are the reason there is crime in this country???? BHA HA HA HA HA. If it were up to us there would be less crime because if we were in charge there would be a loud sucking sound at the borders as all the illegals left the country in a rush.
There would be less crime because there would be approximately 12 million less illegals, that aren't supposed to be here in the first place, heading back to their home countries.
This is the country of freedom, but you don't earn it by breaking the law and thumbing your nose at our iummigration laws. You earn it by coming here legally and following the laws. That is also how you get the respect of the citizens and immigrants that came before you.
You don't get it by holding protests and demanding rights when your sorry illegal parents had no right to bring you here in the first place and you sure don't earn it by demanding other people fund your way.
If you are illegal you have no right to be here. Get out and take the rest ofd your illegal relatives and friends with you. Go back and fix your country and its economy instead of welfaring off of ours.
As far as America not getting anywhere; what hole have you had your head stuck up, except the obvious one????? As someone posted earlier, name one major invention that came from Mexico and then look at the vast inventions created here.
Your argument is lame, you think you are owed because your parents committed a crime and included you in the mix. You got your benefits while you were growing up. You got a free education and free health care. Now take that go back to your home country and use it to better yourself and your country. Those are the freedoms you have.
Great post Michael,
That invention post was mine.
I can't believe that union members allow their unions to keep endorsing the Democratic candidates over and over. This Dream act and policies like it will only result in increased competition for American jobs. And this benefits the union duespayer how???
The honorable thing for these illegal alien kids to do would be to contact ICE and turn in, not only themselves, but their brothers, sisters, and the parents that got them into this mess in the first place. If they want to join the military, fine. Mexico has an army, and there's always the French Foreign Legion. If they want to attend an American college, fine. Just go back home and apply for a student visa like everyone else. When we get a REAL President in 2012, maybe we can show some resolve and start addressing these issues.
Notice the typical liberal knee-jerk reaction?? Call you a racist first and them blame it all on Bush.
No wonder they lost it all on November 2nd. And the funniest part?? They still don't get it.
Edward
You are right its the race card every time. Anyone that feels immigration should be done the legal way is automatically evil and a racist. It's funny how they have no argument to support the Bill when all the flaws are pointed out.
MICHAEL
So your saying illegals are the ones killing and raping and stealing? your saying they are the cause to all this crime in the U.S.? how ridiculous do you sound?? here we go with MEXICO again!! what an idiot!! you dont know of any inventors/inventions from Mexico because you arent in their class rooms learning their culture/history idiot!!
I am an american Citizen. Indian to be exact and I would be honored to have children like these ones who want to succeed in life and make something better and obey the laws like they have because none of them have killed if anything they would help our Country.
You automatically asume I am an immigrant? why? because i am defending them? its called "a true American"
We are the land of the free!! and as long as these kids are benefiting the U.S. after they pass this law why not?!!
You are a bidder old man who needs to think of others not just of yourself.
p.s. if these kids get legalized and they commit a crime their permit automaticall will be voided and will automatically be deported.so you will be able to sleep good at night because even though its hard to trace them they are still not commiting crimes besides the fact they are not born here!!
look past yourself and know that they will have to pay a penalty for being here and after will have to pay just the same amount of what YOU do!!!
I am an American Citizen also Einstein. My Grandfather was an Apache making me quarter. I have served my country and I have worked for everything I have. I don't sit back and expect a free hand out and I don't go to other countries demanding that they educate my children.
As for criminals every one of them has committed a criminal act by staying here. The Bill allows them to be enrolled even if they have 3 misdemeanor offenses and that is waiverable.
In your genius mind are youy saying that the illegals do not commit crimes? That they don't rape, steal, murder, DWI?
Look at the law and point out where it says if they violate the law that they will be deported Einstien. While you are at it. Point out where it says they will automatically be deported if they fail in any part of what they are supposed to do. Also think about this, Genius, the law applys to all of those that are 12 years old and older. This effectively gives the parents of those under the age of 17 the right to stay here too and not worry about deportation. So it doesn't just benefit the kids it benefits those that committed the initial crime in the first place. It would be very hard for the government to let a bunch of teenagers that haven't graduated high school stay without their parents or find foster homes for all of those in the program so allowing them to stay also allows their parents to stay.
I know thats okay with you because you are an open borders type or you are truly illegal. By the way Im not old and that isn't how an educated person would spell bitter but that is neither here nor there. What matters is this Bill is dead and next year the illegals will see a huge change in how they are treated as far as jobs and entitlements go. If you don't like it you are free to leave along with the illegals. A word of advice though; don't go to their country and demand anything for yourself.
michael- I don't know where you got the idea that I want illegals here, far from it, I happen to agree with you 100% NO DREAM ACT, NO AMNESTY EVER
Bushwacker
No sorry if it looked that way what I was doing was responding to do52000 I said So Bushwacker, Edward and I are the reason there is crime in this country. He or she stated on an earlier post just above that one that you, Edward and myself were criminals or we were the reason there was crime in America.
No I no a Brother or Sister in Arms against this Bill and you truly are one. Good arguments all the way through.
Thanks for the spell check lol!!! I admire you Michael!! NOT
do52000
No spell check, you made a statement actually several that were blatant lies. I merely pointed those out to you and made a comment to Bushwacker that you said we were the reason that their was crime in the U.S.
The crime rate in the U.S. would go down if the illegals were all deported. Thousands of crimes are committed each year by illegals that have no right to be here in the first place. If you look at the Budget request for 2011 the Department of Homeland Security stated that over 111,000 illegals were incarcerated for major crimes in prisons all across this country in 2009.
If there are only 12,000,000 illegals and 111,000 of them were incarcerated in 2009 that means that 1 in 109 are committing crimes here. That tells me that they aren't peaceful and hard working that tells me that they are here causing major problems for the tax payers and should not be tolerated.
As I said in an earlier post the Dream Act is dead and so is your hope for Amnesty. If you are illegal hit the door before it comes crashing down on you this next year and you are forced to leave with nothing.
please do us all a favor before you comment on the dream act and say something stupid
like rosean and tech-man please be smart and find out what
the bill has to offer before you make a fool out of your self the dream act will help us
significantly it just seems to me like you guys are un educated. put it this way
i would rather have an educated illegal immigrants here in the u.s.a that moronic idiots like
you guys that all you do is talk non sence be realistic this is what america needs
so please be educated and smart when commenting .. now i know why you dont want the
dream act to passes becouse you guys are to lazy to have a little competition .. but beware
the dream act will pass and a better america will be born you just need a brain to see that.
so im watching this tv show where there is people saying that we don't have the right to go to college or join the military...come on people why would you go against this there are students who want to join the army, marines, navy, airforce and my brother is one of them now how can you say they shouldn't when they will join the military and give their lives for this country! something that CITIZENS are NOT whilling to do for their country!
Doesn't Mexico have an army?? How about if these kids went back to their own country and joined that army??
Ivonne Garcia
You say that our own citizens won't serve in the militart. HHHHmmm you truly have had your head buried in a deep hole havent you????!!!! Tell that to all the soldiers that have served for this country. Tell it to the families that have lost loved ones and tell it to the wounded that come home every day. Like Edward said go join your own Army, we don't need a bunch of illegals in ours.
There is a very simple solution to this whole problem. Dispose of the federal immigration law and open up the borders to everyone. This law has nothing to do with immigration or immigrants since it deals with those in the country illegally. Drop the quotas, tear down the fences, and get rid of all of the government waste which goes along with immigration and naturalization. As it is today, the law is not enforcible, and we are trying to drain Lake Michigan using a thimble. Even if we could deport 50% of the illegal aliens flooding this country every year instead of the 3% rate we currently deport, it is still a losing deal. Take the billions of dollars in federal funding it takes to deport the 300,000 illegals and put it to a more productive use.
A side note: It is easy to get food stamps and medical aid in Illinois without proof of citizenship or identity.
Go after the employers! Cut the jobs and they will go home!
Miken2010,
See my post 20.4
thanks.
They'll hold off on this until Christmas Eve just like last year during the Health Care vote and then shove it down our throats again and leave. They are wanting to punish the American people for voting them out in November. This will be the downfall of the Democratic party thankfully.
