Where is all (any) coverage of the Cancun summit? Have you guys also given up on global warming? Is it time to sent a condolences wreath to Big AL?

Why does no one (especially in journalism) hold the Republicans feet to the fire? Why are they not challenged when they make outrageous comments like government takeover of health care and the President is a socialist, etc.? No journalists pounds them.

Excellent question Joi and it deserves an answer. Especially in regards the FOX NEWS conglomerate.

Your question does indeed deserve an answer, Joi. Sometimes, even MSNBC my personal favorite, treats the Republithugs as a laughable moment, and moves on. Especially with the Wasilla Village Idiot!

But the Republithugs enjoy the free, but lack of depth, coverage!

You know who totally does not do that? And while not so doing, so does it in a totally glib manner? Rachel Maddow. Oh yeah, and Olbermann also occassionally holds repulican feet to the fire. But not schultz or matthews. I suppose its really hard to hold feet to fire when your leg is all tingely.

Why does no one call out the Democratic Congress for punting on the Tax issues until after the mid-term elections? They kicked the can and then turn around and blame Obama? Did the Democratic party think their hand would be strengthened in the election? Once it was weakened, and given the Grand Obstructionist Party's intransigence, and discipline, did they really expect to exact a better deal? Why isn't anyone pushing back on them?

    Excellent point, tgriff.

Rep Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) (among others) has announced his opposition to President Obama's compromise agreement with Congressional Republicans.

As Chairman of the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee), Rep. Van Hollen is as responsible as anyone in the Democratic Party leadership for the electoral disaster last month...and for President Obama's current weakened position in negotiating with the Republican leadership.

Van Hollen's recent comments indicating that he'll oppose the legislation President Obama has proposed is disgraceful.

    He should be ashamed.

Have you considered putting a size limit on the postings here, like Newsvine and Twitter? Many are so long and rambling, they lose their point!

        Mark & Dom-

Do Democrats honestly believe there is any benefit whatsoever to the Democratic Party in opposing President Obama's compromise agreement to temporarily extend the Bush tax cuts?

Exit polling from last month's midterm elections indicates that voters, particularly the all-important independent voters, want to see exactly the sort of compromise and bipartisanship President Obama and Congressional Republicans demonstrated in the crafting of this agreement.

Don't progressive Democrats in the House and Senate see the substantial political risk involved in opposing President Obama, their OWN President (for heavenssakes!), on this issue?

The Wikileaks hubbub has caused all areas of the federal government to reexamine and tighten their security. Will this damage the original push by Obama and, more recently, Republicans for greater transparency in government?

One of the things Obama said when he originally became president was that he needed to change the way government works. That may mean different things to all of us, but what have you seen in his 2 years that represents change of that magnitude?

Is there any effort being made to appeal or work around the Citizens United Supreme Court decision? Alternately, is there any current and important work being done in the area of campaign finance reform?

Why would Obama agree to a two-year tax cut extension, when the republicans have successfully used the tax debate during election cycles?

Why is it that any American would think the rulers of this Banana Republic would allow taxes to increase on the rich?

Do you know why the option of a reconcilliation bill for the tax cuts was never considered or discussed. I believe the original 2001 Bush tax bill was passed via reconcilliation (with Chaney casting the 51st vote) which is why the bill had a ten year sunset clause. Another 10 year tax bill with no cuts over 250k would have been much better than the current "compromise". And the recent Senate vote was 53 for the House's 250k plan....

Early in our history a Supreme Court Justice was impeached (but acquitted) for allowing his partisan leanings to affect court decisions. There is no question that Roberts has done the same, but worse in that he also said he would not change settled law. What would it take to begin impeachment against Roberts, or any current Justice?

I just saw a picture with both McConnell and Boehner SMILING. I literally gagged. Those smug bast**ds are getting what they wanted and will let everyone know later. They will accuse Obama of raising the debt with the tax cuts or something as innocuous.

Is this the dawn of a new era of ACTUAL bipartisanship? Noone got exactly what they wanted in this but there is middle ground that was achieved! Both sides had to cave on some of their demands. Could this open a door to actual communication between the moderates of both sides and let the fringies on both sides be left with their ideals and no progress?

                      2) When kids (EB3 category) are waiting 8+ years for Green card, why lawmakers are trying to give unlimited green card to illegal kids?

What sort of economics is that to raise taxes during a recession caused by the Dems?

And why the journalists don't ask Republican questions is that they are Left Wing Progressives and the

Republicans are Capitalists and their system has worked before. Progressives and Liberal systems are

always failing. The Repubs represent free market, individual freedom and exceptionalism whilst the Dems

hand out entitlements to blocks and groups of people. A country can never be prosperous when it is led by

Govt led economics and big spending but with private enterprise. Dems, your theology has failed all over

the world. Come back to the free market system where individual initiative makes a country prosperous.

America is built on free enterprise. Not on handouts and entitlements.
