Barton: 'I want to be George Patton' in battle against W.H.

From NBC's Shawna Thomas and Luke Russert
When Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, speaks before the GOP Steering Committee later this week to make his case for leading the House Energy and Commerce panel, he will present himself as the General Patton to Presumptive Speaker Boehner's Eisenhower -- ready to do battle against the Obama administration.

Barton's nine-slide PowerPoint presentation, sent to NBC by a Democratic aide and confirmed by Barton's office, reads like a laundry list of accomplishments and GOP priorities -- that is, until the last slide.

That slide, titled "What's in Store for the Obama Administration, states that "Speaker Boehner is our Dwight Eisenhower in the battle against the Obama Administration. Majority Leader Cantor is our Omar Bradley. I want to be George Patton - put anything in my scope and I will shoot it."

With those parallels, Barton aligns himself and congressional Republicans with American military heroes of the Second World War. By that comparison, he could be perceived as likening opponents of congressional Republicans to Germany's Nazi regime.

Barton's office could not be reached for comment. Phone calls and e-mails to several aides on the congressman’s staff were not immediately returned. ***

UPDATE TWO *** Barton's office confirmed the authenticity of the slide but has not responded to a request for further comment but an aide to the congressman said that it is "ludicrous" to suggest the comparison between GOP leaders and World War II generals sets up a parallel between Obama and the enemy regimes of that era.

"It is completely ludicrous to make that leap," said Sean Brown, Barton's press secretary.

While two senior GOP aides see this as a "tone deaf" move by Barton, Republican House leadership declined to comment on the matter on the record.

Patton, the famously outspoken World War II army general, served as a commander of forces in North Africa and Sicily until being removed from the job for slapping a soldier. But the general, renowned as a brilliant tactician, later went on to lead several successful military missions in the European theater.

Eisenhower, who served as the U.S. Supreme Allied Commander in Europe and later as the General of the Army during World War II, was charged with leading the D-Day invasion on the coast of Normandy in 1944. Bradley, like Eisenhower a five-star General, commanded troops landing on Utah and Omaha beaches during the D-Day invasion.

Many Republicans distanced themselves from Barton when he offered an apology to BP Chairman Tony Hayward at a hearing earlier this year. Barton apologized for the White House requiring BP to setup an independent fund to aid Gulf Coast residents and described it as a "$20 billion shakedown."

Msnbc.com's Carrie Dann contributed.

Why stop at WWII? Why not go back to the American Revolution for comparisons? Smokie Joe Barton would have apologized to King George like he did to the CEO of BP for Obama making BP pay for the enormous damage it caused. Barton is only a hero in his own mindHe's a crook and a coward in reality.

I fear we're (America) doomed. These people don't seem to give a damn about the economy, people w/o health care, global warming, escalating tensions in Korea & Afghanistan or anything else besides doing all they can to create chaos for the current administration and further sink the nation so that they can (they hope) swoop in and be the seen as the saviors, despite the fact that they've contributed heavily to the nation's current plight. Is that the American Conservative Republican way? Cut off your nose to spite your face.

Are we ready now to give up this fiction that "bipartisanship" in some way consists of compromising with Republicans? For them this is a war to the death, ending only in one party rule. For Democrats -- and IN PARTICULAR the MSM to pretend otherwise is fantasy for both the above named, suicide for the Democratic Party.

Joe Barton puts together a PowerPoint presentation to make his case for leading the House Energy and Commerce panel. A Democratic aide gets his hands on it (somehow), gives it to Luke and Shawna and all the liberals soil themselves over the private Patton remark and bust out the tired BP apologist stuff, unfunded wars, Bush bashing, chicken hawk..........

Good grief.

Obama has crippled the energy industry in the Gulf, deep water and shallow, more studies/etc./whatever. Obama has announced shutting down a big part of Alaska for the polar bears. On and on. Obama is systematically trying to cripple our energy industry. More jobs wantonly lost, more dependence on foreign countries, more trade deficits, higher gas prices (another in effect tax), resulting higher costs for everything from heating our homes, to cost of food, to cost of getting to work, on and on..

All for Obama's liberal agenda.

Maybe Barton is over the top with the war analogies. Or, maybe Barton, being from California, has seen first hand the devastating impact of big government liberalism and wants to save the US from California's and Greece's plight. I don't know.

But America does need a Patton to stop the liberal insanity.

While reducing our dependence on foreign oil is necessary. The US needs to step it up and get going with alternatives. According to Joe Barton - John Boehner is our Eisenhower???!!! BARF!

Let's start with who Eisenhower was. Instead of Reagan, Eisenhower should have been the conservative fiscal icon instead of Reagan, as he paid down most of the World War II debt. He had no hesitation to tax the wealthy because we had been in a war for national survival and their was a mandate that everyone sacrificed, including those that got rich off of the war. He was the first to warn us against the military industrial complex. Now Republicans have forgotten Eisenhower and the military industrial complex is part of the billionaire corporate ownership of the GOP. Eisenhower knew more about war than almost all other presidents combined.

Who is John Boehner in comparison? A corporate lobbyist prostitute. John was the one that set up Thursday meetings in the assembly hall next to the House of Representatives floor for lobbyists to meet with Republican legislators for the wholesale selling of their votes for bribes. John was the one caught living in a house owned by a lobbyist rent free. John was the one that had to be ordered to sit down and quit handing out corporate checks to Republican legislators during a debate on major legislation. John was the one that assigned writing the "Pledge" to an aide, ex lobbyist - which resulted in it reading like a regurgitation of Newt's "Contract with America." John was the one that meet with over 100 lobbyists to arrange for the flow of Wall Street money to Republican legislators for obstructing and then watering down regulations. That will most likely be a guarantee that we will have another recession in a few years - if not the same recession drawn out because white collar crime has not been reined in.

When lobbyists come calling and tell John to bend over, his only two questions have been how far and how fast. Republican "leadership"? Maybe in leotards leading Republican legislators in toe touching exercises for lobbyists.

Here's Joe: http://thatsmycongress.com/house/repBartonTX6111.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Barton

He has not served in the military despite being of age to serve in Vietnam. He has voted against legislation that would have benefitted veterans. Joe has taken in millions of dollars of corporate money through lobbyists since being elected to congress in 1985.

More jobs wantonly lost, more dependence on foreign countries, more trade deficits, higher gas prices (another in effect tax), resulting higher costs for everything from heating our homes, to cost of food, to cost of getting to work, on and on.

You sure weren't paying attention this year. Obama had actually put forth a proposal to open more offshore areas to oil drilling, shortly before the big BP oil blowout - but the Right wing media didn't mention that because they happen to agree. Of course, when it became blatantly obvious that the Blowout preventer didn't work and BP was totally unprepared, Obama did the responsible thing and put a moratorium in place until the oil companies could prove that their blowout preventers were in working condition and that they had real cleanup plans in place in the event of a major leak. Just being a responsible leader, but of course the right wing media machine had a fit! How dare Obama make the Oil Companies take responsibility, prevent spills, and do the right thing! Some on the right think there should be no Government regulations or restrictions on Big Business at all!

As for Alaska, Obama hasn't restricted any areas that weren't already restricted, but the Right has lambasted him for not opening up those restricted areas - never mind that Bush and the Republicans also didn't open up those Alaska areas when they were in power.

"Systematically trying to cripple our energy industry"? Hardly. The only "crippling" is what the energy industries have brought upon themselves. Had it not been for major oil spills and other environmental disasters, there wouldn't be so many restrictions on where and how they can drill, mine, or produce.

Just a little information to start with. Charlie Rangel was a decorated war hero in the Korean War.

Several Republicans have served our country with distinction, George Bush, Sr. Dwight Eisenhower, Robert Dole (who has only one functioning hand and arm due to combat wounds) and many others.

But that isn't the point.

The point is all this "War against the White House" talk.

This isn't a war, this is politics and politics is supposed to be the art of compromise. Why don't you Republicans open the lines of communication with the White House and let's get this country moving forward again, not BACKWARD with references to World War II.

Pitiful, just pitiful.

Hmm, didn't seem so "tone deaf" - rather a very nasty and determined tone, announcing plans for two years of House gridlock.

Nor was this self-glorifying, strident anthem "tone deaf," just off-key, as far as House leadership seems to think.

Wonder how this tune will play at the "Slurpee Summt?"

The entire country is actually paying attention. Once again, the Republicans have announced their intention of disregarding national needs in favor of being regressive and obstructive. If the TPGOP actually does put this loudmouthed, uncontrollable idiot in a committee chairmanship, they have only themselves to blame for further embarrassment.

The problem is that this current congress is proposing too many things that hurt Americans over the long run such as the huge amount of spending this Democratic congress has done since they came into power in 2006. It's very scary and must be stopped. And, I simply cannot condone giving amnesty to scofflaw people who refuse to do a simple thing like fill out a work permit form at their local post office. Then they would no longer have to steal an innocent American's identity in order to work and they would have their own social security number to obtain credit so they can ruin it instead of ruining the credit of the person who actually owns the social security number they're using. These are federal crimes whose penalty is prison time.

It's totally disgusting!

Eisenhower, Bradley, and Patton all served a DEMOCRAT faithfully for the safety and well being of the nation. All three did so, with honor and distinction throughout their careers as generals. They obeyed directives and followed a PLAN. They also realized that in order to devise a successful plan, no one person or party has all the answers and that COMPROMISE is essential for the best solution and benefit of ALL. They also were acutely aware if you go to battle without a cohesive plan, you will lose 100% of the battles.

If Barton and his buddies will perform with the same sense of honor, love, and duty for the nation they live in and for the people who live there as the 3 referenced generals, I would wholeheartedly offer my support.

However, GOP well documented declarations of premeditated obstructionism demonstrate their inability to construct a plan on any policy other than to destroy the opposing administration - in my opinion this premeditation to make OBAMA a one term president smacks of conspiracy to manipulate and undermine a presidential election (how loud do think Rove and his cohorts would be screaming if the Dems had even suggested a tactic such as this?). It reinforces the public perception of their lack of desire to compromise for the benefit of all.

I believe the GOP is doing the nation and themselves a huge disservice here. If they continue on this path of preordained obstruction they run a very great risk of further damaging this nations credibility, power, and worth. They are also putting their party out on a limb - if the continuous echo of nay's resonate through Capitol Hill over the next 2 years and it has an immediate negative impact on the middle and lower classes (which it will), the GOP will pay dearly for it at the polls in 2012.

The policy of no being the most fiscal and correct direction is starting to show how fiscally irresponsible it has the potential to be. During the election NJ Gov Christie rejected infrastructure funds for his state saying it was fiscally irresponsible. This was a blatant politically motivated and symbolic action made during an election to generate support for the party of no by standing against the "Socialist Obama". That symbolic move of solidarity with the party of no is apparently costing NJ citizens more than 270 million dollars. This money had been allocated to and received by NJ from the feds for work on the project up to the date of refusal by Christie. NJ was notified of the intent to recover funds by the feds which, either Christie ignored, or believes won't be enforced (due to power of GOP in House - very real possibility). In any event who will it cost? Your guess is as good as mine, but, at least in NJ, I have a sneaky suspicion the citizens are going to suffer real fiscal angst for symbolic actions aligned along negative lines. In other words - negative thoughts and deeds have negative results.

As long as the party platform of "unconditional no" is continued. I will not support them.

Did you notice unemployment under Bush unemployment dropped?

In fact, it was found that the Bush White House has been using inflated numbers for job gains for more than four months.

Bush: We're now in the 41st month of uninterrupted job growth, in a recovery that has created 7.2 million new jobs -- so far.

The 7.2 million figure is correct according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, counting an unusually large upward adjustment in the figures for total non-farm employment that the BLS announced in October. However, as in the past, Bush concentrated only on the period since August 2003, which was the low point of the prolonged job slump that plagued the first 2-1/2 years of his presidency. Since 2.7 million jobs were lost that time, the net gain from the time he took office has been 4.6 million jobs, a respectable number but still not so large as the one Bush highlighted

          http://www.factcheck.org/article475.html

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Need I mention the millions of jobs lost in his whole 8 years?

Check out that bikini graph on Rachel Maddow's website.

I'm so glad the Black Lady, Velma Hart, who lost her job didn't drink the Hater-aide the republicans tried to serve her up she did drink it.

She said she realized the unemployment is getting better since it's not going down. you sure can't say that about Bush.

If you keep Blaming President Obama you'll begin to sound like a broken record. Which is what Bush and the Republicans have.

I don't believe the Republicans will ever try to create or maintain any kind of bipartisanship relationship with the Democrats or any other party for that matter. Not all Americans are dumb, apathetic, uninformed cretins. We have just become so used to getting screwed that we middle to lower payscale people have a tendancy to lay there and watch the paint dry till we can vote again. Many do not realize that Republicans have always been primarily for the corporations, big business and the upper class payscale - mostly because that is what they are like. At no time have I seen or heard of them suggesting that Senators or Congressional members freeze their pay or even consider a pay cut. Oh wait, they would not be able to afford their kids private schools, their second home or their vacation cabin. It is time to wake up!!! Obama is not the best we have ever had but I think that is far behind us. At least he is trying to put worldwide nuclear arms on hold and he is also trying to find alternate sources of energy for this country so we won't be held hostage by big oil companies and in the Middle East. We need to raise our heads in pride and show respect for the office (even if someone does not like the person), of President. This is America and one voice can make a difference, but only if it is raised.

Give it a rest, duggjr. The Americans did not speak. Show me a sweep of all Democrats, or at least all incumbents, and I'll show you a "spoke". It didn't happen. Margins were slim, lots of Republicans lost, some of them got trounced. Based on voter registrations vs. turnout, we didn't even have a quorum.

If we're going to blame anyone, why not blame Bush (I see you're on a first-name basis with him - I'm not)? It's his fault. Deny that and you're just showing how easily you're led around like a pig with a ring in its nose. But where's that get us? Blame is for historians. We need things fixed. So don't waste your time blaming Obama either. Just fix them. Let's hear a plan to fix them. And here it is:

Take back the White House, and replace Obama with someone who will do the same things Bush did to put us in this mess. Add to Bush's lack of competence a bit of racial and religious hatred, deregulate and let the corporations have free reign, and take us back to pre-Teddy Roosevelt environmental policies. Turn the Middle East into a glass parking lot, herd all of the "Mexicans" into internment camps, and let God (and our children) sort it out. I've got just the candidate for you, and she's "hot" to boot.

Go for it, duggjr. If you succeed, we deserve it.

I am conservative (on most issues), and I will say that Joe Barton’s General Patton fantasy simply illustrates that he is, as stated by the senior Republican aides, tone deaf. He was going along just fine in his presentation touting accomplishments and goals. Then he went over the edge at the end. He is the typical politician we are all so tired of. His comments were very disappointing.

That said, to paint all Republicans with the same brush isn't fair. The article states most Republicans distanced themselves from his BP position. I venture to guess (and hope) most distance themselves from his “war with the White House” comments.

Mr. Barton’s comments were as ridiculous as Mr. Obama calling the Republicans “the enemy.” I'm not excusing. I just wish someone would remind politicians that everything stupid thing they say is broadcast within seconds and recorded on tape forever.

So here we are in a tizzy. Can’t we just shake our heads, roll our eyes, dismiss the idiocy, vote them out next time they run and move on?

Beverly, I think you are so saturated with blind hatred of anything Republican you get yourself wound up to the point of incoherency.

However, as you go on to explain in your post, the numbers from the BLS clearly show that under President Bush, 4.2 million net jobs were created. (7.2 million….then in 2007 when the Democrats took control, 2.7 million were lost = 4.2 million net positive at the end). Did you check the date of President Bush’s quote? 41 months into his Presidency would have been somewhere 2004-2005.

You’ve successfully made the point that under the Republican Congress and Republican administration, millions of jobs were created!

Welcome, Beverly, welcome to the other side!

Duggir, When, exactly, DID the GOP do any bi-partisianship? I guess I missed it over the "we gonna give Obama a black eye over healthcare" and the filabusters on everything he proposed, even the ideas that had GOP suport before Obama. Was he even in office before the GOP started fighting him? I don't rember Obama starting the housing bubble, but he must have worked really fast, since Bush was going to give 7 bills to the banks before. guess that was foresight, huh? The "people" have spoken? The rich people have spoken, the people who felt that a depression should have been repaired instantly have spoken, the insurance companys have spoken, big businesses has spoken and the dingbats who want to take this country back to before it existed have spoken. Maybe the majority of the US can get off their dead butts and turn the football games off for a few minutes and speak in 2012, if it isn't too much trouble. I'd like to think there are some intelligent people out there, who will say something, if there is a country left, and if there are elections allowed. If not, then we can go back to 16th century europe, with our elected royality and the rest of us as pesants. But then where will the rich people get their money from?

Ya, not to mention that the deficit numbers they love so much are inflated by TARP and other bailouts that will not end up costing nearly what they are charged off in the budget. Essentially because of strict accounting rules in the GAO, all those handouts as we call them are there until they are paid back, unlike business accounting which would show the sums, but have an offsetting column to show the more real possibilities. (See allowance for uncollectable accounts)

Good post- have thought the same thing for over 10 years- starting after dumbya's "election".

Ten minutes of research would have shown people that dumbya was an empty suit and a lame brain

but Americans preferred to remain stupid and killed the US. Now they want to blame President Obamas for their screwups- voting for people tied to big business and bankers who are robbing them blind.

<p></p>Thats the typical answer I have started to see across the liberal scope, It has taken them a few weeks but they have managed to come up with a "real" meaning for what Mr. Obama called HIMSELF a throttling. They now claim it was a slap on the hand a mere 2 week time out......a stand with your nose to wall for 2 weeks type punishment. Then its all good back to normal full speed ahead......spend spend spend...... Ms Pelosi has he nose back up her A$$ again and Mr Reid is talking like his testicles got a new load of go juice. Keep it up...... this attitude and the fear that Ms Palins in the mix has you all worried. Palins not running but she sure will wire you tidy whitey libs all up while the Pelosi/Reid/Obama train heads off the tracks.

            #3.16 - Tue Nov 30, 2010 9:12 AM EST

And it is the same GOP B.S. spend, spend, spend just on the GOP agenda. Extended tax breaks for the rich, Increase Healthcare costs by attempting to Abolish Healthcare reform, Attack TARP and the Stimulus that saved jobs and the very economy.

Most American's I would say has no problem with being fiscally conservative, and measuring the return on investments in all Government programs, BUT that is not what the GOP is about.

The GOP is bought and paid for by BIG business, and uses SOCIAL Conservative prinicipals to fuel their radical base for votes which leads to mindless quotes like this one from LittleJoePeep.

This is going to be short lived majority in Congress for the GOP if this is their idea of leadership.

unemployment and the DOW were doing just fine until progressive Pelosi and the radical left took over Congress and started to turn us into a third world country. I am one who hopes the republicans treat this like a war. This country can not survive the way the progressives would like to take us. Pelosi is the one who has already stated that she will not allow President Obama to bend for the republicans. If she wants a war let's give her one. I still can't believe the dems allowed her to remain in a leadership position. It just shows how stupid they can be.

Beverly - Please get some information from somewhere other than Olbermann and Maddow. You are a broken record.

            +++++

To JH479998: Unless you can identify anything specific that the Democratic Congress actually did from 2007-2008 that was VETOED by Bush but overridden by the Democratic Congress, your argument is BS. I'm sure you can name lots of ready examples -- NOT!!! Bush had the veto power, was the one submitting the budget to Congress, was running his two wars, and running the bureaucracy. So, tell us EXACTLY how the Democratic Congress is to blame for the fiasco in the last 2 years of Bush's administration? By your reasoning, it will be 100% the fault of the Republicans in Congress rather than Obama if the economy doesn't improve and things aren't perfectly great. Are you ready to take the blame???

You do realize Bush spent more time on vacation than any President in the history of our country. And he was on vacation when he started 2 wars, watch a city get destroyed and was suppose to be presiding over the government when it handed out the TARP when the economy collapsed.

Sorry can't criticize Obama in the least till you criticize Bush on his lack of work ethics. In fact if you look at Obama's record he has accomplished more in the first 2 years than any other President has accomplished in their entire presidency in the last 60+ years. Weather or not you agree with his accomplishments is nothing but a matter of opinion. He still has worked a lot.

Rep. Barton should refund his salary. The American taxpayers expect representation that helps Americans. Barton is using his time in office simply to promote his party. That is not what he is paid for. If you did a job that was not part of your job description, you would be fired. Why does Barton think he can use his job for anything other than legislating for the good of America? This weasel is stealing from America's citizens and should be arrested, but I would be OK with him and his ilk returning the generous salaries we pay them for solving America's problems.

We are coming to a poiint in this country where we are going tpo see an escalation of vigilantiism.

Because of the greed, obstruction, outsourcing of jobs, benefits for the rich, etc.etc.etc. (all the things the republicans stand for) we are going to see people who have no chance to work, who cannot pay their bills or feed and clothe their children, are going to take to the streets and take what they need to survive.

Sooner or later some person who has been pushed to their ultimate limit is going to end up shooting republicans where they stand. The most decisive people like Palin, Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, Pence, Barton, Bachmann, etc.etc.etc. had better watch their backs. I would not be surprised at all to turn on the news one day and hear that some politician has been gunned down. Human beings can only be pushed so far.

I, for one, am going to celebrate with a glass of wine (and I don't drink) when I hear that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld have dropped dead!

Tony, that's only likely to happen when larger numbers of people begin seeing through the distraction of artificial class warfare between poor and middle class.

Not cool at all. Your post is not at all worthy of membership in the human race. I don't like those politicians at all either, but I don't like what you are suggesting any better than I liked it when Sharon Angle talked about "second amendment" remedies.

Then we are really screwed buddy because Americans are too easily led without questioning anything. Americans are too apathetic and lazy to get the facts...and many that do can't make heads or tails out of them. Very sad!

Is this what you were saying about them when they elected Obama? Somehow I don't think so.

The difference is that the democrats may celebrate the death of their enemies; the republicans take up arms and actuate their deaths.

Seems like Phil thinks it's OK to have very poor representatives on the republican side since he doesn't like the democrats. He seems to want to fight for this guy's right to be a jack wad even though it's hurting the American people, all because he doesn't like democrats. This behavior needs to stop! Bad politicians on both sides need to be called out and replaced. We should not defend them because someone on the other side did something you didn't like. This makes no sense. It's the kind of logic a grade school child would use, it is completely based on emotion. People need to wake the F up and see things for how they are and leave their emotions at the door.

Nice Tony, way to hope people drop dead. I served in the US military for 10 years and have observed many good american "die" It wasn't pretty then and the memory isn't pretty now. I NEVER wish anyone dead or injured because they believe in something different. I may dislike some things...but I never hate things or people. Wishing people dead or families harm is a cowardly way to go through life.

And Joe Barton will succeed. Obama is going to be a one-term president no matter what. There are just too many white people in this country who simply can't hear or see straight because Obama is black. It lets you know just how far we've really come. Not very.

Couldn't agree with you more. What the GOP is saying in everything they do and say (but no they cannot say because it would cause rioting in the streets) is:

Wake Up America and remember....this is what you get when you put a N***** in the White House, which is why there has never been one before....and do NOT be fooled, if Hillary CLinton had won the presidency the republicans would be doing exactly the same thing to make their point that a woman has no place in the White House.,,,and that only rich, white men deserve to be president.

People...stop being so damned complacent, lazy, apathetic, uninformed. Stop drinking the damned kool-aid and asking for seconds. Wake UP!!!!!!!!!

Oh please. Why does the race card always have to come up whenever anyone says anything bad about Obama? Barton is an idiot but he doesn't sound any worse than Pelosi or Reid. Were you ranting about their negativity? Someone needs to grab ahold of Boehner and Pelosi and knock their heads together until they figure out how to get along. I'm about sick of the high school BS from both sides. They all need to grow the hell up and figure out how get this country going in the right direction. And that includes Obama.

Now that the mid-term election is over and those who either didn't vote or voted to make a statement to the President are somehow regretful. They believed Boner and company that they have the American People's interests at heart. Now that they snowed the American People we see not one inkling of how they propose to fix this country. Please, don't deny this is the case. They have nothing to offer any of us except to pander to corporate thieves and make sure we are the ones getting screwed.

When do we get the opportunity to undo the mess the apathetic and uninformed have sentenced us to endure?

Revolution is wrong because there are very unstable people in this country. I do think we have a right and an obligation to remind our politicians that they have been sent to Washington to represent us, not continue to divide this country. Our Senate and Congress is a disgrace. They feed their BS and refuse to do anything that will help us all. If the Republican party was unable to stop the depression, it seems quite obvious that they will do nothing to turn things around.

I believe there are many of us who are tired of the childish bickering from the Republican's in both houses. I personally feel I have no voice to express how tired I am of the nonsense.

I contact my Senator and Congresswoman quite often. I get immediate answers on where they stand on the important issues we are waiting to be resolved. However, this is doing little to alleviate the anger and frustration. I've decided to write to everyone in Washington, Democrat and Republican.

An earlier post from Wren-1001706, #3.8, really sums up how I feel,

This is America and one voice can make a difference, but only if it is raised.

I can't change the results of the mid-term elections but I sure can let them know how I feel about it.
