OBAMA AGENDA: 81% favor body scanners.

With all the controversy in the media over the security full-body scanners and pat downs at airports, a CBS poll finds four-in-five people (81%) are in favor of the full-boxy scanners, while just 15% say they’re opposed.

“The six largest investor-owned health insurance companies saw a 22 percent increase in combined net income in the third quarter, putting them on pace to break profit records for 2010,” The Hill writes.

“First Lady Michelle Obama's chief of staff, Susan Sher, will move back to Chicago at the end of the year, the First Lady's office announced Tuesday,” The Hill writes, adding, “The White House said Sher's replacement has yet to be determined.”

NO ALL THE RECENT and much more up to date polls so about 80% do NOT favor the machines. Stop trying to make up numbers to make people think they are over reacting. Reuters polls show where over 70,000 people voted and said no take them out!

The CBS poll they are talking bout clearly states at the bottom "they conducted the poll among a random 1,137 people OVER THE PHONE!" Try moving the poll to the airport and question them has they come out the body scanner or pat down! Another CBS poll ONLINE shows where over 80% said no.

How about you do your job RIGHT report the TRUTH and report the more update polls and stop using low number random people or polls from january.

I would probably be wise to inquire about the machines from people who actually fly. Are the people who are working around the machine protected? If you fly on a regular basis you are going to get a very different answer than you get from someone who goes on vacation every few years.

I am old and worry too much but I can remember the machines in shoe store that leaked and were taken out. I see every day lawyers who will sue for you because medicines that you were told were safe cause terrible side effects.I worry that somewhere down the road my Grandkids are going to be told "Ooops sorry bout that"

Every day you see a bunch of lawyers ready to sue for you over some medicine that we were told was safe.

Okay, I'm confused - what do either of these have to do with a poll about body scanners? And what does anything in this post have to do with the "OBAMA AGENDA"?

(I can see why there's no byline on this story - I wouldn't want to take credit for it either!)

This headline is DEFINITELY misleading. Since when is letting TSA grope people for security for an airplane ride a part of the 'OBAMA AGENDA"???

Depends on how the question was phrased as well.

Until the TSA cans the political correctness and targets those who, as a group, have shown a propensity for wanting to blow us up, they can't be taken seriously. Patting down Grandma instead of Mohammed ain't goona cut it.

You are lying. This CBS poll is fixed.

Here's the link to the Reuters poll with the real data. 76,000+ polled and 96% say they will not be subject to sexual assault as a condition of flying

What this poll shows is that 4 out of every 5 people are insane. Nobody in their right mind would favor this outrageous unnecessary procedure. I have quoted Ben Franklin numerous times relevant to what our government has done to us beginning with little W Bush and his patriot act and I will quote Mr. Franklin again:

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin, February 17, 1775.

        Can you spell "rigged" ?

I knew you could. The CBS poll is boloney, nothing more than an editor playing with his pord processor.

if you want to know the REAL number, go here:

or you can probably believe reuters too, they seem to have more than one editor checking the results.

Once again, we see the corporatized media trolling the party line, just like in 1939 germany !

Blatant lie. Other polls show the exact opposite of this one. It's no wonder fewer folks are depending on corporate media for their news and information. Folks are fed up with establishment propoganda and are turning elsewhere for their information now that mainstream media loses crediblity on a daily basis.

Keep up the sorry reporting. Nobody is listening.

Simple solution to all of this.

Setup Airport A has no scanners and no TSA. Also ban all lawsuits if the plane goes down.

Setup Airport B with scanners and TSA.

Announce this to the world. Let the free market decide which they prefer.

I know which one I'll take my family on, but that's my choice. Others can choose their own option. We'll see if both airports survive. Must wait 20 years before deciding so that we know what impact occurs when the terrorist strike a few planes down.

Lets try this one bozo. Try not to hurt your head thinking too hard about it. Terrorist A has a pocket full of exlosive material that he somehow got into the US in the 1st place. The terrorist would like to kill as many infidels as possible. Choice's are an A) an airplane that a terrorist has a slim to none chance of even getting bomb material on board. B) a soft target like say a crowded shopping mall among thousands of other soft target throughout the US. Where do you think the terrorist would chose to blow up infidels??? Airport TSA "security" is nothing more than a Fascist government preparing it's subjects to accept a nationalized police state. There is no terrost threat that warrants molesting young children and old people to get on airplanes. Of course there will always be sheep like debbie here who belive the propaganda CBS puts on tv and will beg for thier daddy fascist smiling government to protect them. booga booga

This is just playing into the hands of the terrorists, who wants to see the Americans as paranoid and living in fear. TSA says it's because of the Christmas day bomber, but he boarded the plane overseas not in the United States. I believe we have to develop a profile for checking passengers, regardless of political correctness. We can't continue to live in fear and change our way of life.

sfcret - I agree with you 100%. This is ludicrous. What is even worse is that there are people that are not questioning this whole procedure.

I really and sincerely hope that people opt out of flying this holiday season if possible. Let the airlines fly their empty planes. At some point, the airlines will cry 'fowl' and get the TSA to relent (that pun was deliberate).

I guess the 4th Amendment about 'unreasonable searches and seizures' just went out of the window, didn't it? What is worse is that many are OK with that.

So, where does it stop? Are we looking at BCS (Body Cavity Searches) for an AIRPLANE ride?

If we let people 'invade' our person in the name of 'safety', and say NOTHING, then we deserve what we get.

Because you have absolutely zero credibility with the American public. We know exactly what you are.

You are shills. No one listens to you anymore. You sell the government agenda, and government is completely controlled by money interests, who, by the way, couldn't care less about you, either.

Here's a simple hypothetical question: You have 2 choices of airlines; A or B. Airline A searches everything and everyone boarding every plane. Airline B does no searching. Which airline would you feel safer flying on?

You might try surveying Americans instead of surveying the anti-Americans selling this stuff to the government, or government publicists. That's the only way you could have gotten lying numbers like that.

There's a reason nobody believes anything heard on the corporate news any more - and you just demonstrated it magnificently.

Seems every site is afraid of Benjamin Franklin's relevant quote. Not one post my comments when I include the quote about those who would give up their liberty for a little so called security deserves neither. Let's see if MSNBC will publish it this way. Ask yourself, why are they so afraid of a little old Ben Franklin quote?

It doesn't matter what the stupid poll says, because this is America, which has a Constitution with the correct opinion to be referred to when Americans become too stupid to understand what being an American means like when they all boo'd away a Musslim mosque from being built in the land of freedom of religeon.  The other arguement that the rest of the world is submitting to this "unreasonable search and siezure" also doesn't mean a hill of beans in the US either because they are not Americans.  Welcome to America you fascists turning my country conspiquously into Tel Aviv Airport.  We either don't do this in America or we are not America.

I'll tell you who the people are that are supposed to keep evil enterprises and bad government in check.
Certainly not the welfare cases. They are too busy trying to find the next fix or are struggling to put food on the table. And definitely not the upper-classes, as they are too busy taking the private life to the max.

It is the Middle class who are the one that are failing the country. They are happy where they are. With just enough extra savings set aside for more fun toys. And usually more than enough cash to go on a trip or two every year.

The middle class are the ones needed to drive corruption out of government and use those extra cash stashes to setup group protests and wake everyone up.
Instead, they now will more than gladly sign on the devil's dotted line, because they want to keep them happy thoughts ticklen' the brain cells and the fun times to never end. Complaining might ruin the ride.

So trim your hedges, wax your new sports car and sell the entire family's soul to go see Mr. Mouse.

Hmm... the way the "article" is worded, seems the eighty percent preferred the scanners to the pat down. Would we rather be groped or irradiated? Its gotta make you wonder. If anyone was thinking -- or even just observant --

                  [snip]
If we assume they know what they are doing -- they want us to hate the pat downs. The choice between the two becomes a no-brainer... ...like the choice in the last presidential election... An artificially constructed set of options.

The new protocol was intended to force selection of the scanners.

                  [snip]

Respectfully, a point seems to have eluded everyone. The way this gem is worded, it seems to me that eighty percent preferred the scanners to the pat down. Would you rather be groped, or irradiated? ...If we assume for the sake of argument that they know what they are doing, the conclusion is obvious. We have a situation with an artificially restrictive set of options. That these are not the only options is not meant to be apparent, and one of the options is actually not viable for the overwhelming majority of intelligent citizens.
