NBC's Shawna Thomas reports that Democrats have settled their leadership fight by creating a new, to-be-determined position for current Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC), according to a high-level source.
Clyburn will get a not-yet-named position that will be the No. 3 position on the leadership ladder. Essentially, since Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided to run for minority leader, everyone bumps down one spot. Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) will be Minority Whip, Clyburn a step below that.
Clyburn's position will not be "conference chair." That position is held by and will continue to be held by Rep. John Larson (D-CT).
