Pelosi trying to negotiate end to Hoyer-Clyburn race

Democratic aides say House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is trying to help find a solution to the conflict in the leadership race for the next Congress but is not actively brokering a deal.

A senior Pelosi aide says, "In the course of the preparation for the lame duck, the Speaker has had conversations with Mr. Hoyer and Mr. Clyburn and other members of the leadership and she wants them both to remain in leadership."

The No. 2 and No. 3 Democrats, Steny Hoyer and Jim Clyburn, are both seeking the same position because their party loses one leadership job in the minority.

If I had a vote to choose, it would be Representative Clyburn.

Oh heck, keep Nancy in place as the minority leader. She did do so well as the House Speaker. Why, those Dems lost their seats in droves!!!!!!

She's also helping San Francisco with their fight to ban Happy Meals at the Micky D's. McDonalds will be placing a bobble-head nancy pelosi doll in each Happy Meal to keep the kids from ordering Happy's.

You're right, I guess. We need to sit back and wait for the real entertainment involvint the REAL meat and potatos, instead of table scraps. C'mon, Repubs- get our supper out here NOW!

ALL the entertainment would end if you baggers went to a bashing site rather than a progressive one. I've never understood that. Nobody cares what you think. You can say what you want, but Pelosi has done a fantastic job. And if you don't think so, it's probably because Rush, Glenn, Sarah, and Michelle told you not to think so. Or the baggers - and we ALL know how they depend on FACTS and FIGURES in their CIVIL debates. If you could just get past your hate and wanting to FIGHT, maybe someone would take you seriously. You already know the teapubs can do NO better than Obama. Not going to fare as well. I'm just sitting waiting on the jobs and the deficit control. Paleeze! If you baggers spent half as much time trying to become politically educated, you wouldn't have so much time to try and pick FIGHTS with everyone who doesn't agree with you. And I can't TELL you how many times I've heard a bagger post that liberals get mad when ANYONE criticizes Obama. Huh? That's all you do. That's all you've done since he was ELECTED. That's all you've done since his FIRST day in office. All you do is disrespect and call this president vile names. If you want him out - vote him out. All this disrespect of Pelosi and the President and the democrats and the liberals and the progressives - is sickening. We talk bad to you because you come here looking to start $#!t - ALL THE TIME. And this talking point about passing the debt to our grandchildren - give me a break please. You can only live YOUR life - not your grandchildren. Future generations will take care of themselves the way future generations always have. They will rise to whatever occasion that is presented. And you baggers thinking that ONE man can ruin the entire country - that was already ruined - is really, really small. You're obsessed. You say that liberals only want to name call. Are you people on drugs? The name calling ORIGINATED WITH YOU BAGGERS. The vile, vulgar, disrespectful signs, the violence, the ignorance, the fear mongering, etc., etc., etc., etc. It's you. There is no even distribution of hate between Democrats and Republicans. You win. Hands down. You proved it at the polls. You proved that the country can be led and misled constantly. That's a shame. You don't have to be a leader - but being a follower is just a cop out for not using that part of your brain designated to common sense. You HATE being called a racist - yet you exhibit racist behaviour. You hate being call ignorant - yet you make NO effort to try and seek out facts. You hate being called baggers, but you run around in costume carrying guns, and threatening WHO? Who are you threatening if things don't go your way? Who are you trying to intimidate if things don't go your way? Why are you on this post? If you are democrats or liberals or progressives being this disrespectful, please move over to Fox. Please. Your numbers scare NO ONE. I'd rather have a dedicated liberal/democrat/progressive than a wishy-washy one - any time. All through history it's been proven that your numbers in hate scare no one. You got guns. We got guns. So what? Now what? Get over it and try to live your life based on something other than hate, lies, and fear before it's too late for God to give you another chance. I'm going to close with this. The ONLY thing Barack Hussein Obama has tried to do for this country is help the people most suffering. If you can't see that - oh well. If you don't have a handle enough on you own finances to even know that you received a tax break - oh well. If you don't know that most of the bailout money has been paid back with interest - oh well. Of ALL the people you could pick to want to destroy this country - an African American. After all the centuries, and now decades that we have (and still are) non-violently protested for our God-given rights in this country - then you don't know JACK about African Americans. After all, it was your white ancestors that kidnapped and brought us here. You have no control over evolution. Whether you believe in it or not. The world will continue to evolve in spite of you. Good will overcome evil in spite of you. I'm about getting right spiritually - not spending every waking minute, driving myself crazy, because there not only is an African American in the white house - there's a damned smart one in the white house. That's what scares you more than anything. Obama is extremely smart. One term, two terms - it doesn't matter. Unless you rewrite history, like they're trying to do here in Texas, Obama has ALREADY made his place. You see - the historians that will be putting pen to this administration's achievements - WILL BE PENNING THE TRUTH and you can't stop that. Oh - but you don't think that far ahead do you? And unfortunately for you, your position in history will not be as positive. Your grandchildren will read that. They will read how you are out of control because you're being led around by the nose by moneymongers. How in the #e!! can you have the same political views as billionaires? Whew - that's a mammouth one there man.

You have got to be kidding!!! LOL! Did you really expect anyone, especially lazy liberals, to actually take the time to read your pointless tripe?

"teabaggers" "teapubs" "racists." Sounds like you need to take a class on racial sensitivity.

"Blah, blah, blah, the white devil is the cause of every ill and evil on the face of the earth! Kill republicans. yadda, yadda, yadda!"

Obviously you need to deal with your own obvious predjudices before you start lecturing other's on their's.

By the way honey bunch. Try using the "tab" key for indentions. Mmm-kay? Makes reading your pointless babble much easier. Not that anyone will want to anyway.

Having read YOUR posts over these weeks, slimsignet, I would not be in such haste to criticize Betty. She makes some excellent points. It IS the constant drumbeat of the ignorant, Beck (who is mentally ill on top of it all) Hannity (who could not make a point if he were sitting on one), and Limbaugh (the "family values moron who cannot keep a marriage together, and has had this drug addiction problem) who appeal to the less intellectually endowed that got us into this mess. They appeal to emotion, have no fact to back up what they say, and have a remarkable ability to ignore how their own party got us into the mess we are currently in. The larger point that Betty makes is puzzling to me as well. The "teabaggers" think they have saved the country by giving control of the House back to people who will continue to sell America off to the highest bidder. THOSE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO ARE OUTSOURCING JOBS, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. It helps their bottom line if they don't have to pay a living wage to workers, but can pay the slave labor in China. The people that you support are treasonous, and if you were really any kind of loyal American, you would be outraged. Instead, you cling to the very chains that bind you, and you cannot understand what you do to the country as a whole. I think Betty's post made the point she intended to make and I agree with her. President Obama has done his level best with a mess left to him by the incompetent narcissist Bush. That you can't see it is a shame, but does not make it any less true.

Racial sensitivity based upon historical knowledge, and racial insensitivity based on ignorance are two different kinds of racism. Benevolent "racism" should be the price we are wiling to pay for having engaged in malevolent RACISM for 400 years on this continent. Let it all end with us.

    Betty Williams,

If you don't know that most of the bailout money has been paid back with interest - oh well.

Yes, Betty you are correct, a TARP bill/law passed under the Bush Administration, having to be done by the Obama Administration. Thank goodness Obama had the ability to administer a law that was written before he became president. I am thankful that he got 8% interest on it though. I just wish I knew where that 8% interest went?

After all, it was your white ancestors that kidnapped and brought us here.

Betty, if you don't want to be here, please feel free to return to the home of your ancestors. In fact, I imagine in East Texas you will find plenty of NASCAR loving, idiot, racist teabaggers that would be more than happy to pay for your plight home. So if you can't bring something constructive to the forum, leave.

    Newday,

Maybe we should consult our President about the things that he has said this past week. Trying to counsel India, while telling Americans that outsourcing creates jobs in the US.

"THOSE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO ARE OUTSOURCING JOBS, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO."

I personally, just don't see any political party or representative really trying to end outsourcing. Mainly because on both sides, they are paid by the corporations, who make money doing these things.

Really? All you need to do is follow the money, start with the Chamber of Commerce and their wholly owned Republican Party. Great way to get rich, isn't it? Instead of paying living wages to AMERICANS in the country that provides you with opportunities to advance, you go for the slave labor in China. Traitors all.

Do you really think that the democrats are so pure? I had better hope for you, but that would really be embarrassing for you.

Why would anyone in government, spend millions of dollars to win an election, when they get paid at best $400K? You don't think they do it for the kick backs. Please, the entire government is in bed with corporations, just some of them are not as powerful as others.

I guess Dingell from Michigan isn't in bed with the car corporations or the unions. Always against the GOP or Tea Party, when the entire mess is the entire government. Learn to accept that and you will be open to real change, not hopeful change.

So the excuse is that "they all do it," therefore it is fine for the Republicans to rape the nation? That is too ridiculous, rethink you position. The problem with the Republicans is that they are not only raping the nation, but sending the jobs overseas too.

Does not matter who the Dems select as their "leaders" since they all totally ignored the American people and pushed through legislation to meet their own personal liberal agenda. The only way they coudl get it done was to do it behind closed doors and aprove it in the dark of night. They ignored the public, and the American public spoke very loudly on 2 Nov.... Democrats are now irrelevant in the House and will become even more irrelevant under this same "leadership" team when 2012 comes around. Don't you get it... America hated the way the Dems pushed through their agenda, and now Pelosi is having a big party to celebrate how they ignored the public. Incredible and as usual ... so out of touch! Now the Republican swill have to try and walk back all the Govoernment growth that the Dems put in the Healh Care bill and others that was hidden under some basic common sense things that will likely remain when all is said and done.

President Obama was voted in precisely because he was willing to take on the issue of HCR that the Republicans have had years to deal with. I know this is a new concept for you, but you don't speak for all people. This is the most maligned President since Clinton. It is SO much fun to believe lies and not do any independent research away from Fox "News", a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party, right?
