Subscribe to RSSThere are now seven uncalled House races -- the Republican conceded in VA-11. Republicans currently are +60 in the House. They still lead in five of the uncalled races, so their total could rise to somewhere in the neighborhood of +65. Democrats, though, feel good about their chances in CA-20, where incumbent Jim Costa (D) picked up more votes and now trails by just 145 votes from what was a 1,823-vote lead for Andy Vidak (R) on Election Night.
In VA-11, Democrat Gerry Connolly, who held off Keith Fimian (R) by less than 1,000 votes said, per the Falls Church News-Press: "This outcome should be viewed from the standpoint of strength, not weakness. ... While trees were falling all over the woods, this one didn't."
Connolly also spoke about being hospitalized after the election. He said it was for "a minor blockage in an artery was discovered and 'cleared up.'"
CA-20 could be decided by tomorrow at 6:00 pm ET.
With most of Kern’s ballots now accounted for as well — with the exception of a few thousand challenged and provisional ballots county-wide — the ultimate outcome of the race will likely be decided by Costa’s home county of Fresno. And that means Costa and Vidak will have to wait until at least Wednesday at 3 p.m. to find out their fate.
The other uncalled races: CA-11, IL-8, KY-6, NY-1, NY-25, TX-25.

I've been hearing alot about this George Bush Victory Tour. It seems that the American MSM along with the populace has collectively been Diagnosed with Demetia! There's also a double Standard(who would've thought That would happen)being applied here. The MSM is giving Bush a walk, while holding Obama's feet to the Fire-so to speak.

Hard to believe but I agree with you, Rick. The media gives Bush and the GOP a pass and cricitizes Pres Obama for not being angry enough. Most of the media bought the Iraq War hype with few even questioning what was being said. I don't buy any of the Bush victory lap. The only reason the media is considered liberal is because the republicans have sold it to the people.

Politically, it's a Lose-Lose situation, unless the lameduck session somehow finds a way to keep the cuts for 98% of Americans, & lets the Top2 % fend for themselves(LOL). President Obama should'nt sign Any kinda extention for the Top 2%, because he already knows, That aint gonna do Squat for Job creation. If it was, unemployment would be at 1-4% & Holding, instead of near 10%.
Playing Footsie with the GOP is'nt gonna get him where he wants to go & he knows the American mindset is Warped, as evidenced with the Bush Victory Tour being played out now.
Let the Cuts Expire for everyone & watch this Economy takeoff, It happens everytime! Then President Obama will have shown the GOP, "you don't tell me what I need to do", like they've been promoting since last tuesday.

Just hearing Bush say the worst thing that happened to him during his administration was Kanye West accusing him of not liking Black people made me shudder. Can you IMAGINE? THat was the worst thing...not visiting soldiers in the hospitals or facing their grieving parents, not having a shoe thrown at him by the citizen of a country he "liberated," not having it dawn on him he was saddled us with a trillion dollar deficit...a pop star dissing him for not appearing to care about Black people. The guy is clueless...and then he brings up the fact a member of the CIA had her cover blown by his administration, and you have to think, how would Obama handle that? You can bet Obama wouldn't have communted his sentence.

Bob, California has had a republican governor for nearly 8 years or doesn't that count simply because it is California. I lived there for years and met lots of republicans, saw republican mayors and governors--California's problems are the same as nearly every other states--it's the economy plus CA has this ridiculous system of voters casting ballots on just about everything. Why elect state legislators when the voters do the legislating.
Just a correction: a Democrat is closer to keeping his seat. Costa is the incumbent in CA-20.
CA-20 is in the heart of CA's central valley, a rather conservative area. Their advertisements and talking points didn't have much of anything to do with national policies.

Yes, California has had a token liberal Republican for the last few years, but California has been a virtual one-party state since the 1960s. This past election, the country said enough of the bigger, more intrusive, big spending, "government is the answer to everything", anti-business Democrats with their big unions. California said, "more please".
California is not like the other states. California has the highest sales tax, the 3rd highest income tax and ranks 48th. There budget gap is 45.5 million - 53% of state spending. California's state competivenes is 32nd - a drop of 7 spots the last year alone. California has lost 34% of its industrial base and ranks dead last in job creation factors. American business relocators ABCs? Anywhere But California.
California has 12% of the nation's population, but 1/3 of the nation's welfare recipients! Unemployment at 12%-13%. !00,000 -150,000 leaving every year.
And California, the "Golden State", once had the 6th largest economy in the world? Dropping fast to 9 in a few years - now starting to plunge.
California has had maybe the most liberal, progressive state government in the country for years. It's a disaster and everyone knows it except the willfully blind liberals.

California has no reason to worry anymore. They have a very liberal governor to go along with their very liberal legislators and liberal courts. No doubt they'll soon be the national model for taxing their way to prosperity!
