We might be in for a long night -- or a long few weeks -- in the Alaska Senate race, but the early numbers are good ones for Republican write-in candidate Lisa Murkowski.
With about 58 percent of votes recorded, the "write in" option is leading with 39 percent of the vote, with Republican Joe Miller receiving 36 percent and Democrat Scott McAdams getting 25 percent.
If the write-in option wins or comes within one percent of the top vote-getter, the ballots will be individually evaluated to determine which names voters wrote in. That process could take weeks.
"We're not done yet," Murkowski told supporters in an upbeat address early Wednesday morning.

Dennis: You speak of what the colonists went through in the 1770s. Yet at the end of the war and the subsequent Articles of Confederation and further the Constitution of the United States, how many people were actually eligible to vote in any election? You probably don't know. It was less than 2% of the population. Yes, less than 2%. So nerly all of the soldiers and other supporters of the revolution found themselves powerless at the end of the day. Then as now, the wealthy controlled t he economy and government. You must remember that the Constitution was written by a very different group of men from those that wrote the Declaration of Independence. Yes men, women were part of the other 98%. The Constitutionalists looked only to protect wealth and property. Individual freedoms were totally neglected. That is why eventually, in order to accept the Constitution, the Bill of Rights or first ten amendments was passed. Think for a moment if the Bill of Rights had not been adopted and yet the Constitution was accepted. We would live under a virtual dictatorship. At the end of the day, the people have been screwed for nearly 250 years by the wealthy.

Wow. We reelected the same folks to Congress that got us into this mess (recession). Well done. Now for the gridlock. The Republicans have made every effort to assure us that President Obama fails. After this midterm election they made it very clear that they will spend the next two years to secure his failure. The Republicans won. We, the middle income, low income and poor, are on the losing end. When will we learn to elect moderates and get rid of liberals and conservatives? You want a real solution?
