Senate Majority Leader Reid keeps his job

From the NBC News political team
NBC News projects that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has defeated Tea Party-backed candidate Sharron Angle in Nevada.

Angle was not the preferred candidate of national Republicans, who wanted Lt. Gov. Sue Lowden to challenge the highly unpopular majority leader. Angle was criticized during the general election for numerous gaffes and her studious avoidance of the press.

Reid, whose approval ratings in the state have floundered as unemployment, foreclosures, and bankruptcies in Nevada remained the worst in the nation, was nonetheless able to paint Angle as too extreme for the state.

His victory averts a Democratic leadership struggle between Sen. Chuck Schumer and Sen. Dick Durbin, who were both said to be eyeing the job if Reid was to lose.

Reid now owes his soul to the SEIU, who spent millions in the race. But he had better listen to the people of Nevada, as he did not win a mandate. The general message from this election was "listen to we, the people, or we'll send you home. A Republican House, a Democratic Senate. Now both sides will have to work together.

Scumbag politician! They dont call him Dirty Harry for nothing. I am here in Las Vegas and I can testify to the fact that the desperate politician pulled out all stops to retain the precious power that he can't live without. It was disheartening to see people at the polls get taken advantage of by this scumbag who only cares about power. Reid literally packed busses full of people to take them to vote. It wasn't just a random mix of people that were on the bus though. As the busses emptied only minorities and elderly people stepped off. I have no problem with these groups voting, but it was obvious that Reid was so desperate that he lied to these poor people, and made them think that he actually cared about them. Many of the people could not speak a word of English, and some of the elderly were senile and didn't appear to even know where they were at. The senile were pushed in wheelchairs by able bodied adults, and they were so out of it that they had a hard time even understanding how or where to give their signiture. At the polling computer the senile elderly person sat in a semi-vegitative state while their chaperone was allowed to cast the votes for them.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I felt so bad for these poor people that were being exploited for politcal gain. Regardless of political prespective, every American should be disgusted by this.

Dave, instead of "people watching" you should act like an exit pollster and ask them questions in the parking lot. Perhaps you are destined to be a journalist. Get the facts report the truth.

Thanks and good luck,

    One Citizen, One Vote!

Free and Fair elections are the foundation of our Democracy, yet, recently, there's been a lot said about voter registration, voter fraud and voter ID. Why is it so difficult to implement a National ID and know who is who in this country.
Earlier last year, the US Supreme Court ruled, in an Indiana case, that states can require photo identification from voters. Not only should all states require a voter ID, we need to ensure that only eligible US citizens vote in order to prevent fraud.
It's about time we introduce a secure, tamper proof voter ID, like our neighbor to the South, Mexico, is doing since 2004.
"Mexico’s Instituto Federal Electoral (IFE) is an autonomous, non-partisan organization charged with ensuring free and fair elections.
In January, 2004, IFE entered into a four-year contract with Digimarc Corporation to design and supply secure, reliable voter ID cards to Mexican citizens in order to help ensure the ideal of “One Citizen, One Vote.”
In the three years since then, nearly 25 million credentials have been produced and Mexico’s voter ID card is now widely regarded as one of the most secure, reliable voter identification systems in the world.
So trusted is the integrity of Mexico’s voter ID credential that amid all the controversy surrounding the close presidential election on July 2, 2006, no one questioned the security, reliability, or authenticity of Mexico’s voter identification itself. Indeed, Mexico’s voter ID has become the country’s de facto identification document and is readily accepted as positive proof-of-identity by merchants, banks, government officials, and citizens nationwide."
It's my opinion that we should communicate to our elected representatives that it's time they ensure One Citizen, One Vote, and implement Federal, tamper-proof, Voter ID.

And the Federal Government can provide stimulus money to issue cost Free IDs for all Citizens!
