Boxer hangs on in California

From the NBC News political team
Don't call her ma'am, call her senator — for another Senate term.

NBC News projects that incumbent Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer has hung on to her job after facing a challenge from former HP CEO Carly Fiorina.

The governors race in the California is still too early to call.

No, anti-American is someone who ships American jobs off to foreign countries and then rewards themselves for doing it.

One way to spell that is: F-I-O-R-I-N-A.

I'm wondering why you think Boxer is "anti-American". She secured funding for the building of an armed forces Combat Casualty Center in southern CA...only the second such facility in the country. That's a little something that never crossed the minds of Bush II or McCain to promote.

Anything specific you can cite as an example of this behavior?

Boxer, I mean Mam, I mean whatever, has done more to put our Servicemen in the Hospital than any Al-Qaida ever could. It is a nice thought that she builds a hospital to house them in. I guess CA has gone of the edge of the continent with an earthquake of stupidity. She is no more American than someone from China.... She does not serve America! She serves herself! Just watch her on YOUTUBE and see her own comments! Dummycrats - no facts, no reason, no ethics, no sense... just blame it on the big corporations and somebody who works for a living. Do yourself a favor and just read the facts instead of your bellybutton.

Yup, things are looking up in California. Jerry Brown is our next Governor, Barbara Boxer keeps her senate seat and the SF Giants win the world series. Relieved in Missouri -- You don't sound relieved; you sound like you have diaper rash. Better rest up. You'll be spending the next two years trying to explain away Boehner, Rand Paul and all their clones.

Eyes Wide Open: If you're claiming that Fiorina is bad for outsourcing jobs and Boxer is attacking her for it, then why does Boxer still accept money from Cisco Systems which is one of the biggest outsorcers of jobs that has half of its jobs in India? Isn't that a bit like hypocrisy?

And add on to that, Boxer destroyed several thousands of jobs in the Central Valley when she passed a bill to cut off water to hundred of thousands of acres of farmland. And yet she was able to allow waterflow into New Mexico in 2003 when they had a similar problem to California? She isn't able to properly protect and serve her own state that she represents.

    Relieved...

If you're so full of "facts" about Boxer and CA, why don't you just trot them out for all to view? You know, put up or shut up.

Point of fact...you're aware, aren't you, that anybody can create and post just about anything on YouTube? Don't treat it as gospel, but if that's all you have in the way of "facts", you're sinking faster than Christine O'Donnell's campaign did. BTW..."Broom Stick 1" (aka "BS 1") crashed while attempting to get off the ground tonight in DE.

Just a hunch, mind you, but I think many of us are also very Relieved you're in Missouri...especially those people in CA.

    Top of the gun...

The big difference is that Boxer wasn't CEO and didn't run CISCO into the ground, like Carly almost did. The water thing is not particularly one of her better moments, I'll grant you, but there may be more to it than just the sound bite.

Only fools like "retired86" call dedicated public servants "un-American."

Who in the hell do you think you are?

In the counties that know Carly Fiorina best (i.e. San Mateo & Santa Clara Counties); the counties that comprise Silicon Valley, voted the most overwhelmingly (63% & 66%) for Barbara Boxer. We grew up with HP; we know what she did and how she profited herself while harming the company. It's always amazing that the ignoramuses who vote according to TV ads wouldn't listen to the folks who knew the candidate best.

We saw this thoroughly self-absorbed woman outspend in the primary (25-1) to defeat a great candidate, my former Congressmen Tom Campbell, A tenured Law professor with a Ph.D. in economics from University of Chicago, under Milton Friedman. A genuine conservative gentlemen, of unimpeachable integrity with an unparalleled record for cutting budgets in an honest and bi-partisn manner. But the Tea-Party bigots didn't want a genuine conservative they wanted someone who over-spent on cheap-shot bad adds and made unsubstantiated accusations like this fool who called Senator Boxer "anti-American."

Of course, it is always easy to spout ugly, arrogant, ignorant nonsense when you know nothing. That is becoming all too American like the Tea-Party. It is also making American leadership a joke around the world.

Americans can not afford the level of arrogant barbarism and ignorance that passed for this political campaign. America had better pull itself together or the little recession you're having now will look like the good old days.

Yeah, I do believe California will rue the day, now that the pig is dead and there's no more bacon to come to California without approval of the house, Boxers days as a provider are coming to an end. She may actually have to learn to get along with others in the days and weeks ahead. Nevada's gonna feel the same heat with Reid being returned to the senate. I would not be surprised to see an investigation into the health care bill being launched by the House. My guess is that Reid will not retain the majority leader position, if the democrats have any hope of regaining seats in 2012.

Eyes closed. If you had a little bit of economic sense, you would understand that the jobs going overseas is due to the high taxes and excessive regulations heaped onto businesses by the failed dem policies. If you would like a little case study, look at how the US lost the yacht manufacturing business due to the luxury tax. It will never return even though the tax was repealed!

        Act2...

Are you attempting to explain Fiorina's job cutting at HP as a result of "higher taxes and regulation"? Laughable. Your comparison of her tenure at HP to the woes of the yachting industry is ludicrous at best.

Carly cut jobs to enhance her standing with the board of directors at HP and the economy wasn't in the state it is now when she sent those jobs overseas. Her merger with Compaq in '02 turned out in the end to be disastrous and shortly thereafter, HP started hemorrhaging money, prior to her dismissal in '05. Was her get-out-of-Dodge money also due to "higher taxes and regulation"?

You like her, I don't, she lost...that "demon sheep" ad of hers very likely had something to do with it.

I stated it earlier, perhaps you didn't see it, but Boxer pushed to secure funding for the west coast Combat Casualty Center in San Diego. See the info at the following links:

And?? Thats hardly something that needed alot of pushing. I guess she could use it as a selling point though. lol. Mean time the Democrats are cutting military numbers so we have undermanned units trying to keep up equipment and falling behind in training. Its one of the first things they cut when it comes to military spending. SOOO while you praise her getting funding for a Combat Care facility I have to question how many good service men and women are using that facility due to low manning, lack of training and fatigue.

Yeah after destroying their own state, as soon as they see another decent state, that has been run well by conservatives they immigrate there so that they can destroy it and leave it wallowing in a socialist nightmare. Just look at how Oregon and Washington have been Californicated.

Same thing happened to New Hampshire, when folks from MA started eyeing their superior economy and lower taxes.

Actually, if you really look at both parties, there's not much that separates Republican and Democratic policies. And of course the reason for that is both parties NEED corporate sponsorship to get nominated and win elections. Generally, the US is composed of politicians who owe their existence to corporate America. Notice that the media really doesn't focus on policy much, but more on 'personality' (ie, socialist vs nazi - etc etc etc). The media has to hunt and dig to find the rare vote/opinion that makes a candidate look 'crazy'.

Fiorina knows that to create jobs in America and keep them from being outsourced to other countries, we need to reduce the corporate tax rate, which is the second highest in the world. This one thing would help bring jobs back from overseas. Boxer doesn't understand this. She would rather tax corporate America more, then ask why they are shipping jobs out of the country. Duuuhh! Too bad all you liberal nutjobs don't understand it either.

Already in the works. AZ, TX all ranked much higher for business and surprisingly are not nearly in the dump like CA. Hmmm I wonder why that is. Good luck with your CA future. Looks bright for jobs (that's if you care to even work which my guess is NO) with an entire state of Marxists.

Who ever is feeling sorry for California should look to their own state representatives to work on fixing the crap the republicans dumped on the country and blamed Obama and the demos for. The responsiblity is on you now and you were more than ugly. You better get busy because you will have no one else to blame for the next two years. Good luck.

But this is perfect for you! Think about it. You can live and suck off the trough another 2 more years, you can still get your 120 weeks or so of unemployment, prop 19 failed I'm sorry but I'm sure your medical card will still get you your weed for your so called "backache"... what could be better. Life will be grand for you another 2 more years. you don't have to do a damn thing.

Some of us, like myself, go to work every day and do not collect welfare or what ever it is you think we are all collecting here in California. I actually do not know anyone on welfare. I do know, however, allot of hard working people who are respectable and are good patriotic Americans. Why don't you try not being so narrow minded.

Narrow minded I am not. What I am is not someone that wants to pay a nickel more in state taxes which is going to go up for sure now that we have an across the board lib state gov. That along with OBAMA and his socialist ideology is getting out of hand. How about a state gov that says enough is enough to all these handout social programs. how about a state gov that slashes all these programs and taxes, a state gov that burns the tax code and red tape to opening a businesses? why are dem/libs so absolutely against enterprise? it's private enterprise that turns the economic engine of a capitalistic society. and i see NONE of that going on in this state just more spend spend spend, handouts handouts handouts and of course higher taxes for those handouts.

California pays more in federal taxes every year than we get back in federal services. that means our money is supporting those GOP 'welfare states' like Nebraska, Kentucky, Alabama, and Colorado. so, how exactly are we the welfare state that is going to implode?

I'm glad the conservatives have taken over the House. Now they're in the hot seat and with their radical nonsense, we'll see how bad they really are. This win will ultimately end in their future defeat two years from now. The voters gave them rope and they'll turn it into a noose and hang themselves.

These two years are really an investment for the future of this country. It will be a moment of proven incompetence and they'll be swept away in the next election. The economy will improve (as it has been doing), they can't take credit for it and they will be written up in history as the new "no-nothings".

The people from states should just mind their business.A simple thank you would be nice. For when you need that government help for what ever reason come Jan 1 it might just be there. You people make me laugh. You don't want government but let anything happen.Like a natural disaster, lose your job,fix your roads.I mean anything!!The first place you go is to your government,so just stop crying.Because when they try to kick your kid off your medical plan, will not extend your unemployment benefits,or what ever you are crying about.Just say GOD BLESS CALIFORNIA!!!!You are WELCOME!!!!GOD BLESS THIS GREAT NATION!!!@ALL THE GREAT PEOPLE IN IT!!!!!!!!
