The first lady cometh to Nevada

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV -- The Secret Service requires people attending events with a president or first lady to be in place hours before the main attraction arrives. So organizers are forced to cope with the question of keeping people engaged for that time.

Senate Majority Harry Reid's campaign came up a solution today for the large crowd that jammed a high school gymnasium here to wait nearly two hours for First Lady Michelle Obama -- they turned it into a campaign phone bank.

Speakers, including Congresswoman Dina Titus (D), who faces an uphill battle for re-election, and Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D), who doesn't, asked people to pull out their cell phones and call friends, neighbors, and co-workers to remind them to vote. To show them how it's done, Titus and Berkley made calls themselves, even holding their phones up so the recipients of the calls could hear the crowd, and holding the earpiece to the microphone so the crowd could hear them.

When Michelle Obama -- whom Reid introduced as "the closer" -- spoke, she received the most enthusiastic and energetic responses of the three speeches I've seen her give this fall. And Mrs. Obama seemed energized by the crown. Using a prompter to deliver essentially the same speech she's given since for more than two weeks now, she spoke with more feeling and emotion than those earlier stops.

A big reason why Nevada -- where one-quarter of the population is Hispanic -- is on her Election Eve itinerary can be found in the results of the new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll: While only 45% of registered voters say they have a favorable opinion of President Obama, his approval rating among Hispanics is 55%.

Tuesday will be the end of the "good ol boys" and their destruction of the

United States.   Once again it will be "We the People"  and not the lefties.

You can squawk and fuss but the Republicans will take back the control.

Nevada is waking up but I feel really sorry for Californicators.  They are doomed.  Moonbeam Brown will be a disaster....

WOW, I am just amazed at all of the name calling done by the Tea Baggers. "Obummer"? This sounds like something Mama Palin encouraged. This is all happening during a time in which we are battling bullying, and it is being encouraged by the Tea Baggers.

Sad, sad time for our country.

He couldn't clean up a coffee spill at the local community center let alone run the country. EPIC ONE-TERM LOSER.

hey ltcommander...what has reid brought to nevada? he spent ALL OF HIS TIME in 2009 pushing for obozo's 2trillion healthcare debacle instead of working on jobs legislation; he and spewlosi pushed for the EPIC FAILURE $800B stimulus bill where 70% went to medicare and the poor. Where are the 3million shovel-ready jobs that obozo, spewlosi and reid lied about? How many jobs were lost in nevada? It's the state with the LARGEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN THE COUNTRY....

        Reality to ltcommander...come in ltcommander...reality calling ltcommander...come in ltcommander..over!

In 2003, the Republicans drafted a Medicare prescription drug program. This bill provides a subsidy to large insurance corporations to pay for prescription drug coverage. In other words, the taxpayers are paying the bill that was previously paid by the corporation. You say you don’t want to pay for other’s health care? Well, you already are! Republicans scream "socialism" and "redistribution of wealth" when talking about Obama’s health care plan, but what do they call this? I call it redistribution of wealth from taxpayers to corporations.

"Bushcare" also prohibited the federal government from negotiating discounts with drug companies, so the prices for drugs are 80 percent higher than those negotiated by the Veterans Department, 60 percent higher than paid by Canadian consumers and 3 percent higher than full retail. See why the drug industry hired nearly 1,000 lobbyists to push for passage of this bill? Republicans redistributing wealth again, this time from taxpayers to the pharmaceutical industry.

The Medicare reform bill was written by Republican Billy Tauzin, who quit Congress and took a $2 million job in the pharmaceutical industry after the bill passed.

The New York Times reported "the cost over the next 10 years of the Medicare prescription drug program ... by itself would add more to the deficit than the combined cost of the bailout, the stimulus, and the health care law." "Bushcare" fills the pockets of the pharmaceutical industry and large corporations with taxpayer dollars, and costs far more than "Obamacare

It's too bad you are allowed to vote Slide. Unless you are actually an iraqi. Kinda sounds like it.

Hey, elizabeth-261594, it's called congressional override. If the senate and house have enough votes, they can over-ride the president's veto. All his veto means is that he doesn't like it.

I'm voting straight republican this time. I just think it would be fun to have a majority Republican Senate. They will surely ask for Obama's birth certificate. That would be funny to watch.

For a kicker, Obamacare would be null and void since his signature wasn't any good . I'd like to see him explain to the judge about that HOT Stimulus check he forged also while he was pretending to be president.

If he's not a legitimate president, all the bills he signed would be null and void.

reckon those European banks would have to give us our money back?

Ok, people. This is really going to rile up the left and get the right cheering. Everyone is whining about the avalanche of spending that Obama has done and are blaming it on Bush. Bush vetoed many of the bills that a Democrat run congress then over-rode. As for the amnesty crap, that needs to be tossed out the window and we need to adopt the same immigration laws as Mexico. If you are in the country illegally, you get.....no government aid of any kind, period. You are hunted down like the criminal you are, period. You will be jailed until such time that you can be deported, period. Flags of no other country will be displayed during protests, except the flag of this country, Period. All business will be conducted in the language of this country, Period. The things mentioned above are just the base of the Mexican Immigration Laws. We are now and have been too lax in trying to stop illegal immigration.

For those of you that are for amnesty, ask the wife of a slain Houston, Tx police officer how she feels. Her husband was killed by an illegal immigrant from Mexico that had been deported several times. He has a long criminal record in Mexico. Approximately 35% of illegal immigrants from Mexico are Criminals with records for murder, rape, and other violent crimes and Harry Ried wants to give them amnesty to live here in the U.S.

Another reason to secure our border to the south. 1982, not too long after Reagan bombed Libya, several terrorists came over the U.S.-Mexican border illegally and attempted to bomb planes at Holloman, AFB, NM. About 15 miles from where I live. The military guards on the base were able to stop them. This is why we need to make the U.S.-Mexico border as close to sealed as we can with entry only allowed at proper entry stations.

So there you have it. Ried is wrong for this country and for Nevada and Obama is wrong for this country. Between Obama and his Democrat cronies, my great grandchildren will be paying off the national deficit (which Obama more than quadrupled within his first 100 days in office.).

She is just a spouse. What her husband does, good or bad, has nothing to do with her. Husbands and wives of famous people, are just people sleeping with someone famous. Nothing more.

How has she been raising the kids lately? Where are they and have they seen mommy enough lately while she was out saving Reid's career or are they sad and lonely missing their mommy?

Some of you seem to think it's okay to name call and insult our national leaders. It's certainly your right to disagree with policies, and you have the ballot box available to exercise your discontentment. it is not okay, under any circumstances, to poke fun at, disrespect and, in general, behave like you have never been taught how to express yourself properly. No matter your party affiliation, you have a responsibility to express yourself in an intelligent manner. Shame on those of you who cannot accomplish that.
