NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV -- The Secret Service requires people attending events with a president or first lady to be in place hours before the main attraction arrives. So organizers are forced to cope with the question of keeping people engaged for that time.
Senate Majority Harry Reid's campaign came up a solution today for the large crowd that jammed a high school gymnasium here to wait nearly two hours for First Lady Michelle Obama -- they turned it into a campaign phone bank.
Speakers, including Congresswoman Dina Titus (D), who faces an uphill battle for re-election, and Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D), who doesn't, asked people to pull out their cell phones and call friends, neighbors, and co-workers to remind them to vote. To show them how it's done, Titus and Berkley made calls themselves, even holding their phones up so the recipients of the calls could hear the crowd, and holding the earpiece to the microphone so the crowd could hear them.
When Michelle Obama -- whom Reid introduced as "the closer" -- spoke, she received the most enthusiastic and energetic responses of the three speeches I've seen her give this fall. And Mrs. Obama seemed energized by the crown. Using a prompter to deliver essentially the same speech she's given since for more than two weeks now, she spoke with more feeling and emotion than those earlier stops.
A big reason why Nevada -- where one-quarter of the population is Hispanic -- is on her Election Eve itinerary can be found in the results of the new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll: While only 45% of registered voters say they have a favorable opinion of President Obama, his approval rating among Hispanics is 55%.

I'm so glad to see she received such a welcome and that the meeting time was put to such good use. Democrats go to work while Republicans would have been trotting out one speaker after another to remind people of everything they must be angry at and fearful of. It would bear no relation to fact of course. That's how they operate. I say that as a woman and a conservative that feels no commonality at all with what passes for conservatism today. It's a sad situation.

The American people should be angry and fearful of the WASTEFUL government spending, the unconstitutional enforcement of ObamaCare! It took less than 2 years for the Democratic Congress to increase the National Deficit by 20%. Democrats - you mean union workers who are overpaid, and are one of reasons many corporations outsource their job, and inflation and cost of living are so high. What most people do not understand is this deficit, this black hole Barry and Democrats like Harry Reid have achieved for the American people will suffered for many many years by our children.

- The last President to pass amnesty was Reagan. No strings attached amnesty basically. The last President to bring one to the floor was Bush. And he also won 40% of the Hispanic vote.
In today's America, any guess on how many Hispanic votes does a Republican need to win the Presidency? Any suspicions why McCain supported amnesty just three years ago? Until he was no longer seeking the Presidency. Can anyone explain what the Republican strategy will be to lock at least 30% of hispanic votes in two years? Jody, maybe you are too young to remember when Clinton "balanced the budget.? A republican congress did it and he approved. Now we have a borrow and spend congress that has no fiscal responsibily, has increased the deficit by more than $2.5 trillion in 2 years and plans to raise it another $8 trillion over the next 10 years. Is that what you voted for?
Of course the idiots on the left believe that reinstituting the taxes on the wealthy will solve that problem even though the left says it will only bring in $700 billion in the next 10 years. So, where does the other $9.3 trillion come from?
It is more than obvious to those of us who have a clue about basic math that the left has no clue, wants something for nothing and couldn't care less about America's future as long as they get a few bucks that they didn't earn today.

And all the argueing - that's called debating and it makes for a healthy and productive environment. From your comments, I can discern that you are the type to expect the government to solve all problems - let me break it to you gently - not going to happen. And as far as all those "homes being taken away from hardworking people" -I don't know of a SINGLE person who payes their mortgage and had their home taken away. I do know of a lot of people who bought homes they could not afford, and are now crying to the government about it!
