Boehner's busy Saturday on the trail

Columbus, OH -- House Minority Leader John Boehner didn’t deviate to much from his stump speech while campaigning in Ohio Saturday. In this last weekend before the midterm elections, he is making appearances in many of the Ohio districts that the GOP wants to wrestle away from the Democrats -- the very races that could allow them to take control of the House and Boehner to claim the title of speaker.

The one hiccup may have been a closed-to-press meet and greet for GOP volunteers in Toledo, OH where Boehner stood next to Richard Iott, who is running in Ohio’s 9th congressional district. Iott perhaps is best known for participating in World War II re-enactments that involve him dressing up in Nazi-garb. Although House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, who is Jewish, tried to distance himself from Iott earlier this month, Boehner looked happy to support him in a video some members of the press were allowed to watch after the event (but were not given a copy of).

As Iott left the Lucas County Republican headquarters yesterday, he was asked whether he would support Boehner for speaker. Iott's response: “I don’t know. We have to wait and see.” Boehner went in and out the back door of this event, much to the chagrin of the press and protesters waiting outside.

The minority leader’s other events -- which he rolled up to in a large bus -- went more smoothly. His visits to Canton and Zanesville were met with adoring crowds in districts where Democrats are vulnerable and the National Republican Congressional Committee has labeled the Republican candidates as “Young Guns.” This is the NRCC’s term for candidates who “give America the best opportunity to move our country in the right direction.”

In Canton, Boehner had nice words for Jim Renacci, the Republican running against first term incumbent Rep. John Boccieri (D) in Ohio’s 16th district. “We’ve got a lot of great candidates all around the country, but I’m going to tell you what. There’s no candidate who’s run a better campaign for the last year and a half then Jim Renacci.”

(Across town, which isn’t really all that far away, Boccieri was appearing with former President Bill Clinton when he received work his wife was going into labor. The family welcomed their fifth child into the world a little after 6:00 pm.)

John McCain won the 16th district in 2008, and it's currently considered to be a Toss Up. NBC’s political unit has said about this district, “If Republicans don’t win this seat, it could signal the GOP might have a tough time winning control.”

After an appearance in Hanoverton, OH, Boehner made his way to Zanesville to stump with congressional candidate Bob Gibbs and senate nominee Rob Portman. Zanesville is in Ohio’s 18th District, another one with a vulnerable Democrat, Rep. Zack Space. NBC News has also labeled this district a “Toss Up.”

Boehner told the Zanesville audience he understood what was going on in the real world outside of DC. “I come from a big family. I’ve got 11 brothers and sisters... The president and some others on the left try to paint me as though I’m out of touch with what’s going on in the real world. Listen, I’ve got two of my brothers who are unemployed. I’ve got two of my brother-in-laws that are unemployed. Don’t tell me I don’t understand what’s going on out in the streets of America and how desperate the situation is.”

Today, Boehner is supposed to appear in Columbus, OH with Republican congressional candidate Steve Stivers in a district represented by vulnerable first-term Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy. He follows that up with another appearance with Bob Gibbs in Chillicothe, OH.

What, no word on the current Speaker's campaign schedule? You remember her, right? She out there campaigning for Democrats? Who better than a little old Italian grandmother to campaign for you?

Well, maybe not.

There are those now throwing around tons of money for the sole purpose of buying control of the voters’ thinking and to achieve a return to ‘more of the same’ that so greatly benefited them. They seek to con and manipulate public opinion and to control the elections’ outcome by totally dominating the air waves, even the internet by using paid staffers / volunteers, with their money and substantial efforts to saturate people’s minds with their scripted propaganda. There is no conscience or real concern for other than their own interests as all they want is to regain the advantage they had and they will literally do/say anything to return to ‘more of the same’.

Remember the bold and arrogant, self-serving irresponsibility that ‘more of the same’ actually refers to: ‘trickle down’ dependency; Tax cuts for the wealthy; Global Warming not a problem; Private Accounts for Social Security; Minimized/ignored warnings before 9/11; Trumped up justification for attacking Iraq; Abandoned effort in Afghanistan; Afghanistan presented as secure; False coalition with America paying 95%+; Iraqi oil money never paying for the war; Pressure put on the intelligence community; Authorized departure from Geneva Convention rules; Misrepresentations on wars to manipulate public opinion; No bid contracts to favored vendors; Responsibility for port security to Dubai Ports; Excusing the humongous deficit and growing trade deficit; Their apathetic reaction to hurricane Katrina aftermath; Blocking bringing American drugs back into the US; Exposing the CIA agent's identity; Squelching the 'wiretapping without court order' story and falsely raising the security threat level, both done just before 2004 election; Excessive deregulation and the lack of any responsible oversight favoring a few and resulting in unchecked greed, gross dishonesty and criminal self-indulgence; Encouraging the deporting of American jobs and taxes; the sociopathic GWBush falsely presented as a 'born again Christian'; and since Bush-Cheney: Republican total belligerent concentration on their political ambitions; Stubbornly obstructing and faulting all efforts to address problems; Irresponsibly withholding any bipartisan cooperation; Aggressively intimidating and coercing their representatives to force unity; Supporters organizing and sponsoring Tea Party movement, like with the ‘Swiftboat” effort, to deceptively manipulate public opinion; Selecting candidates based on ability to get attention and not on qualifications; Arrogance and gross dishonesty using scare tactics and emotional appeals; The distribution of extensive misinformation intended to mislead and to exploit: yes and even subtly using both sides of racial issue; without conscience, on and on totally without guilt, while arrogantly insultingly the public in just taking them for granted.

The opportunity the voters now have is to send the message that they can’t be so easily duped, that the ‘full court press’ con won’t work and that they really want bipartisan cooperation to honestly and conscientiously represent the people, the majority. To firmly reject the Republicans, Tea Party and regular, now will send that message and force them to return to being the Grand Ole Party they once were – representing the people instead of just Special Interests and the few. Then we would see progress based on responsible cooperation instead of self-serving polarization and in 2012 we could even have effective competition offering the people real choice for honest representation instead of just ‘more of the same’. To tie government up now with gridlock will completely halt any progress, encourage and reward self-serving irresponsibility and ask for ‘more of the same’, making any real reform near impossible – and thus completely play into the hands of Special Interests and the influential, powerful and extremely wealthy few who currently ‘pull the strings’ of the ‘puppet’ Republican Party.

Boner's real problems will begin with the Republicans taking over the House.  Anyone in the Republicans party who shows the slightest glimmer of intelligent will be immediately shouted down by the ignorant, howling mobs they've mobilized to get themselves elected.  A new "Contract with American"?  Please, that would be "socialism".  Try to create jobs?  Not if the Democrats will get any credit for it.  Their only goal is to defeat Obama in 2012.  The country be damned.

I don't have a problem at all with citizens expressing their opinions or making their voices heard. It's the American way. As long as what they say is true. And preferably said for a purpose other than to simply be nasty.

Everyday now, the news media (finally) is starting to point out hypocrisy and misleading statements made by the President and Democratic Party. You know, I don't like many of the Republican politicians either, but I'm glad the truth is starting to come out about the ridiculous things the Democrats have been whining about lately (un-disclosed donors, Chamber of Commerce, tax loopholes and outsourcing). Better to see the truth on both sides, don't you think?

I wasn't aware the Swift Boat allegations were found to be untrue. Is that right?

The egregious Swift Boat allegations were debunked by the men that were there, as you would know if you were truly "above the fray". As to the COC and their reprehensible campaign to outsource America (which I would think that a TRUE American would be furious about.) The simplest article available that traces the history is from Thinkprogress " Chamber Receives At Least $885,000 from 80 Foreign Companies in Disclosed Donations." Lee Fang 10/13/2010. My friend USNavyRetired has also done a brilliant job writing about this in the last few weeks. Only a true partisan would turn a blind eye to what the COC has done.

Sheesh, Newday. Don't you read the news? Obviously not. USNavy must not either.

From your own MSNBC: "Embattled Democrats strained to discredit the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with an unproven allegation, claiming that it was "stealing our democracy" by funneling secret, illegal contributions from foreign corporations. The truth is that the chamber gets only a tiny fraction of its money from foreign corporations, and has more than enough from domestic companies to legally fund its planned $75 million election spending."

and also from MSNBC regarding outsourcing:

"FactCheck.org called the Obama ad’s claims about tax breaks “misleading” and concluded that the tax law “isn’t the main reason companies decide to set up shop abroad.”

Hello Candice,

You are absolutely correct about the Swift Boaters.

jfk, (John Forbes Kerry) pathetically modeled his Mass. political career and presidential aspirations after the real American and Democrat war hero JFK (John Fitzgerald Kennedy). JFK commanded a fast PT boat (Patrol Torpedo) boat and received national acclaim for his remarkable and heroic actions in WW II. jfk commanded a Swift Boat (the Vietnam era equivalent to the PT boat) and tried to fabricate heroic actions in an effort receive acclaim to advance his political career.

jfk sickenly campaigned for his medals. One of his Purple Hearts was for a shrapnel wound and contusion when a another boat hit a mine. Turns out the shrapnel wound was self inflicted from a small fragment he caught with his butt when he carelessly tossed a grenade in a rice bin earlier in the day and the contusion was a bruise when he fell down when the other boat hit the mine. Another Purple Heart was a dubious shrapnel "wound" to his forearm that was treated with tweezers and described by another officer as 1/4" thorn bush scratch. I don't recall offhand the third Purple Heart, but it was equally as "heroic" as the two mentioned and provided the gutless pretender the excuse to get him out of Vietnam.

He self promoted and badgered his way to the Bronze Star and Silver Star also. One was for turning his boat around and going to pick up a Green Beret who had been knocked off another boat that had hit a mine. Kerry went bow on to the guy who climbed the cargo net and Kerry helped over the edge onto the boat. The guy says he was being sniped at (which was likely, at least until Kerry's relatively heavily armed Swift Boat came back), but others say the only fire was coming from Kerry's boat.

The other was for Kerry's action during an "ambush". Common sense and accounts of others say this "ambush" was basically a guy firing a RPG at Kerry's boat. Kerry beached his boat (which would have been asinine, ridiculous, reckless endangerment of his crew in the event of a real ambush), the guy took of running (the RPG is a single shot rocket propelled grenade, thus the guy was basically defenseless), Kerry jumped off, ran after him, and shot him in the back, behind a hut. Some accounts say the guy was wounded in the arm from the boats overwhelmingfire power too. In Douglas Brinkley's "Tour of Duty" (the book written for Kerry's presidential run from Kerry's self absorbed/promoting notes/memoirs), mention of other enemy bugging out, enemy fire, weapons collected, or any mention of details associated with a real action is stunningly absent - especially in consideration of Kerry's penchant for drama and hyperbole.

Of all the crew members who served with Kerry on his two boats, Kerry found 2-3 to be used as props for his presidential run. The Swiftees were everyone else, the officers/crews of all the other boats in the group that served him. These men fought and risked their lives for their country, but they, as most of our military men and women, also fought and risked their lives for each other. Why on Earth would they turn on one of their own? What would it take for that to happen? It would take someone who is a disgrace, a john forbes kerry.

jfk has repeatedly said he was going to sue the Swiftees. They have repeatedly begged him to sue them. In the words of the great Feisty - "crickets" The only thing ever debunked was by the Swiftees, they debunked kerry's character.

God bless the Swiftees for their service, both in 1968 and 2004.

Thanks for your comments, Candice. This was a little long, but I thought you might be interested.

Just as importantly, it to refute NDD's repeated lie about them. They deserve the truth.

Thanks, Bob, for your kind comments and also for sharing the John Kerry story. I respect and am grateful for those who served our country - the men who served and stood up to try to tell their side. And Kerry, too, for his service. Referring to him as jfk, though, is a little disturbing. The real JFK was an admirable person and a good President. Politically, Kerry was just stumbling, arrogant and wrong.

As far as Newday - I like chatting with Newday --- although it never seems to be a what I would actually describe as a chat. I find it interesting that even given actual facts, he/she sticks to whatever talking points he/she's been told. That's sort of sad. To be so closed minded and incapable of admitting being wrong. The "fury" of the last few weeks has been outsourcing, Chamber of Commerce and undisclosed donors. When the left's talking points are debunked, they still hang on.

Feisty - You're so funny! Bob and I are clearly outnumbered here so we have to stick together. We have respect for each other I think. Have you read your usual Friday afternoon comments? Bob, I have very little interest in what you think about my response to Candice, I don't suffer fools gladly. The fact is that you are wrong. Newday, 70 (count them---seventy!) out of 3 million businesses that are members of the Chamber of Commerce are foreign based and have paid dues, according to the Think Progress article you sited. Grab a calculator and do the math and you'll see how miniscule the whole "Chamber of Commerce - Foreign money" thing is. Then, read the MSNBC article about how misleading the whole COC hoohah is.

Many of the companies listed by Think Progress's table, by the way, trade on the NYSE, interestingly. You may own some of them in your pension plan or 401(k).

I believe you, Newday, when you say you read. I think you read what you want to hear, though - which is understandable, considering your passion. May I suggest you brush up on your math skills as well and realize this is a global economy? Global and domestic companies are very much intertwined. This issue that you and Navy make a big deal about is a misconception tied to a talking point. You're smarter than that, Newday, I'm sure.

I thought factcheck.org was a credible source. No?

        #4.24 - Sun Oct 31, 2010 11:50 PM EDT

Couldn't resist a math problem. Let's say the entire $885,000 in dues to the COC went to no other purpose than to run negative ads against the Democrats policies. The COC spent $75 million on ads. $885,000 is 1.2% of $75 million.

It's estimated $4 billion was spent by the Republicans on the mid term elections. $885,000 works out to be .0002% of Republican money spent.

I would say that's not exactly "buying" an election.

        Time to move on.

        Candice,

I greatly admire JFK, the president and the man he was. His courage, devotion to country, dedication to others, selfless actions .......but most importantly and simply - the man he was.

After his boat was sliced in two pieces in the spring of 1944, he towed the horribly burned McMahon by a Mae West strap clenched in his teeth through the Solomon waters for 5 hours, then swam back into the Ferguson Passage in an effort to signal for help, on and on.... a true, noble American hero.

Instead of using JFK as an inspiration to be a great man, Kerry used JFK as a model to serve his political aspirations. His 3 self inflicted wounds (he spent less than 1 hour, for the 3 wounds combined, in a medical facility) and the shameless exaggerations, false reports, etc. to receive the 3 Purple Hearts which he used to get out of Vietnam after 4 months? OK. Entering an abandoned village and slaughtering the domestic animals owned by the civilians who had fled? Putting his Zippo to their homes? Not good. Being a leader of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War? Throwing his medals away for the cameras? Whatever. All of the above and then SLANDERING HIS FELLOW VETERANS for political ends? Loathesome. He is/was no JFK.

If you have read the Gary Gordon and Randy Shugart stories - the Michael Murphy, Matthew Axelson, Danny Dietz stories...countless others, true American heros who sacrificed their lives for their fellow soldiers, sometimes being mortally wounded and refusing to give up in an effort help others till their literal last breath.....

It's probably just me and a few others like the Swiftees, but I take great exception to John Kerry. Has nothing to do with politics. No apologies for how I feel about him, but I am sorry it came out.

As always, it was nice bumping into you again, Candice.

        Feisty,

Did you read what Candice said! We're sticking together! So you can quit stalking me now! Besides if it had continued any longer, some IDIOT would suggested something about a room! (I NEED THOSE CODES) (I ALSO NEED SOME PEPTO AFTER THAT LAST SENTENCE)

        newday,

Anyone outside your 20% liberal fringe is a right winger. You guys smuggly talk about your patriotism, your love for the country, yet you hate the other 80% of Americans. Pathetic.

You state that I am wrong. Yet, despite the extensive and specific examples, as typical you got nothing. Your response amounts to nothing more than the frustrated antics (this one is really, really trying Candice)....ah, never-mind.

Never said all Democrats are cowards. (Still no better with reading comprehension I see) Absurdnotion. Many, if not even historically most, heroes are Democrats. Maybe you can look it up on snopes-for-dummies and get back to me.

I never lie about war heroes. John Kerry is no war hero. He is a disgrace to the uniform. Your sources? Did you read Brinkley's "Tour of Duty"? Want to take a test/discuss his book newday, or are are you as gutless as Kerry?

First, to bobby: If you have read the book you mentioned, you would have a different opinion of Kerry's war service. Here is the truth about Kerry, and the reason the neanderthals refuse to forgive him. He came back and did EXACTLY what honor dictated. He campaigned against that war, and the war mongers, of which you appear to be one, cannot forgive it. Paraphrasing Kerry: "would you like to be the last man to die for a bad idea"? In the minds of reasonable people, enlisting to fight when he certainly would have been exempt (like pathetic Shrub) behaving heroically when in Viet Nam, and then coming back to do his best to end that mess is one heroic action after another. It is, unless you are a true partisan, with very little IQ, but a lot of hate. As to poor Candice: the question is a simple one, even for the simple minded: it is either right or wrong to use foreign money in elections. Since it is clear that you haven't read what I assigned you to read, you cannot understand the issue. The thing that amuses me the most about you is that you are the "let's all get along" poster, who traffics in insult and innuendo, the larger problem being that you are not terribly bright. One only has to read your post at 4.18 and be enough of an objective observer to understand that you are exactly that which you decry. The good thing is we have smoked you our of your "I am an independent, I can see BOTH sides, and I am so wonderful that you must worship me, I am a god." We now know you for what you are a partisan right winger". I await your apology about insulting the service of Kerry, thereby insulting all servicemen with great anticipation.

I hesitate to list this source, since it is more complex and follows the exact story of the Kerry controversy. Doubt that Candice and bobby can follow it: but if they want the truth of the matter, they can Google "Republican Funded Group Attacks Kerry's War Record" Aug. 6, 2004 updated Aug 22,2004 and appearing on Factcheck.org.

Actually, for once you are not completely wrong. But, the correction is, if I had read "Tour of Duty" ONLY, my opinion would be different. I would have been left puzzled. "Unfit For Command" and other sources filled the holes.

For example, in Chapter 15 "Winter Soldier" Kerry drones on page after page about how important his speech before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee was, how it all depended on him, his sleepless night working on the speech, how it was like a mission in Vietnam, how he would come through because he performed best under pressure - a clutch hitter; then pages of all the reactions to the speech, the appalled reaction of the Swiftees, blah blah... What did he say in the speech mentioned on page 371?

Turns out this was the speech where he talked about "the absolute horror of what this country, in a sense, made them do." (describing his fellow soldiers). How his fellow soldiers had raped and cut of ears and heads, wiring genitals to portable phones, the Ghengis Khan crap. Saying that crap and lies about his fellow soldiers, representing the Swiftees who had valiantly, some being killed and wounded in effort to minimize civilian casualties? Not one piece of documentation, no affidavits, no specific incidents, nothing substantiated.

Yea his book left that part out.

That's what honor dictated? What a clueless, moronic and disgusting thing to say.

Speaking of morons, I confess to temporarily being one.

As the old saying goes - only a moron will try to debate a moron.

          No more.

            #4.29 - Mon Nov 1, 2010 2:40 PM EDT

When you are involved in something morally wrong, you do your best to fix it. That is exactly what Kerry did, and that is what the neanderthals can't forgive. He did the unpopular thing, and helped bring that war to and end, which makes him heroic. I do understand you not wanting to talk any further about this bobby, the few times we debate, you lose. Must get old.

Wait...Unfit for Command...are you kidding me....bwahahahahahaha! No WONDER you are so at sea with the real story. Unfit for Command was authored by one Jerome Corsi, anti-Catholic, anti-muslim bigot who is a birther. He has been called out so many times for his lies that anyone who refers to anything he wrote cannot be taken seriously. But, don't take my word for it, read about it on Media Matters: Corsi Attempted to Defend Unfit for Command after Kerry Called Book Pack of Lies. September 15, 2004. And your apology is owed to Kerry.

Beyond The Blue Horizon Waits A Beautiful Day -

Vice President Joe Biden came by for a visit yesterday. I love this man! We all knew Dick Cheney and what is so evident is the fact that Vice President Joe Biden is no Dick Cheney. When I think of Mr. Biden, I can't help but smile. He is a breath of fresh air. A pity more Americans don't make the effort to have that kind of effect on each other. (Glenn Beck & Co. comes to mind).

To all the teabaggers. Karl Rove thanks you for your efforts. If you noticed, he has already begun his smear campaign against you guys. He needs you as foot soldiers on Tuesday to vote R, but after that, he's going to do all he can to crush you guys. It's what he does. Exploit people. He'll use you and abuse you. Karl Rove is a despicable human being. You are being used. By corporate America. That's who Karl Rove is beholden to.

And no matter what happens on Tuesday, I will still have a smile on my face. Because when I wake up Wednesday morning, I'll be happy knowing Barack Obama is still our President. And perhaps Harry Reid where he ought to be. In the United States Senate.

This was written by Jed Lewison over @ DailyKos.

In 2008, we lost an average of 317,250 private sector jobs per month. In 2010, we have gained an average of 95,888 private sector jobs per month. (Source) That's a difference of nearly five million jobs between Bush's last year in office and President Obama's second year.

In FY2009, which began on September 1, 2008 and represents the Bush Administration's final budget, the budget deficit was $1.416 trillion. In FY2010, the first budget of the Obama Administration, the budget deficit was $1.291 trillion, a decline of $125 billion. (Source) Yes, that means President Obama has cut the deficit -- there's a long way to go, but we're in better shape now than we were under Bush and the GOP.

On Bush's final day in office, the Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 closed at 7,949, 1,440, and 805, respectively. Today, as of 10:15AM Pacific, they are at 11,108, 2,512, and 1,183. That means since President Obama took office, the Dow, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 have increased 40%, 74%, and 47%, respectively.

The Republican Party, whose candidate for speaker, John Boehner, will campaign with Nazi re-enactor Rich Iott this weekend. If you need an explanation why this is offensive, you are a lost cause.

The moral of the story is this: if you vote Republican, I hope you enjoy Election Day -- because you're not going to like what comes next.

                ________________

How much money has Karl Rove & Chamber spent for the D wipe out? Too much it appears.

Before you start your GOTV today, look at this video. This is what we did in 2008. This is the man we elected. And will re-elect in 2012.

The fact that a Minority Leader would stand side by side with a Nazi sympathizer (for that is what he is, no person of goodwill would wear that uniform, not even for Halloween) is just mind boggling to me. That he is so readily and openly acknowledging that these too are his views. No one is blind and people are not stupid. If you are for Hitler, you will vote for this man. If you are not, you will vote Democratic, the party of inclusion.

"Harry Reid's father was a union hardrock miner in Searchlight, where the future senator would follow him into the mines as a child.
Reid boxed in his youth. The mob tried to kill him with a car bomb.

This year, Reid has a 28 percentage-point advantage among union members and members of union households, according to internal AFL-CIO polling.

Labor's ground operation in Nevada is in full gear, according to union spokespeople, with phone banks, canvasses, and shuttles to take Las Vegas hotel and casino workers to the polls to vote early."
                ______________
Senator Reid made it all the way to the United States Senate, and all through these years, he has remained a dignified humble quiet spoken Senator.

A class act. And a testament to what the American Dream can mean if we just work hard and remain loyal to who we were growing up.

This man is not a sell out. And never was. He has had to deal with DeMint, McConnell, McCain and some other pretty nasty self-centered Senators.

Best of luck to him Tuesday. Looks like Washington and Illinois are looking good for the D's in the Senate. Delaware as well. And WV. And California. And Connecticut.

Don't know how PA is going.

Hi Pat. I think a larger question is will Russ Feingold make it. Never been a fan of Harry Reid so I will cry no tears if the nutjob beats him. Feingold has consistently stood up for the middle class, against his own party if need be. When he and Mary Cantwell stood up for the middle class against the wimpy legislation that the other dems tried to pass off as meaningful financial reform, it made me proud to be a progressive. He will be missed if Wisconsin sends him packing. Harry Reid, not so much.

Indy, I agree with you about Senator Feingold. How I wanted him to run for President in 2008, but he bowed out pretty quick. I read somewhere that he assumed Hillary Clinton would get the nomination so he decided not to give it a shot. This was pretty early - 2006 maybe? Way way before Barack Obama announced his run.

He's been one of our nation's best Senators and people are really down about him perhaps losing.

I've never commented directly here before, but I appreciate the recognition. I usually comment on newsvine.

Yesterday, I was watching Contessa Brewer interview a black man who was speaking on behalf of the Republican Party who intends to repeal the financial regulations.

His words were ominous and very foretelling. The interview was little more than a sound byte, but his words carried a world of weight.

What I hear from economists on the economy is mostly positive about some of the new laws, but it seems to get lost in all the hoopla.

Boehner never tell what the experts say about his intent to repeal the regulations on big business. All I hear him do is blame Obama for the jobs crisis and though that is the most important issue, what is Boehner doing to address how he intends to assist in improving the situation?

How can I find a link to Contessa's interview? It would help explain a lot about why Boehner won't open up about his jobs initiative.

Just my thoughts on less government! In a perfect world where honor and integrity were more important than power, control and greed; Rand Paul’s ideas of less government would be fine. Unfortunately we do not live in that world. The all mighty dollar and power are more important than our national economy or safety and concern for human life. This country almost went into a depression because of deregulation of banks and financial institutions. Twenty-nine men were killed in a mine because of disregard of safety regulations. Getting that coal out of the ground was more important than those 29 lives (after all they were just coal miners). In the Gulf of Mexico we lost 11 more lives and millions of gallons of oil were spilled into those waters because someone ignored and bypassed safety warnings. It was cheaper and faster to do things this way. Oh well that is the price you pay in doing business – 40 livers. I know accidents happen, but these were not accidents. They should have never happened. If the business owners had honor, integrity and respect for human life and our environment, they would have never happened. Unfortunately it appears that we need someone who will look out for our best interest – to make sure our food is safe, the toys you buy for your children are safe, our medicine is safe, our work place is safe, our money is safe, and the list goes on and on.

This country faced the worst economic crises since the great depression and all the Republicans could do was say no, even to their own ideas. Their main goal is for President Obama to fail. Their own wants are more important to them than what is happening to this country.

“The public view of the economy is at odds with the facts. - The Obama administration has cut taxes -- largely for the middle class -- by $240 billion since taking office on Jan. 20, 2009. A program aimed at families earning less than $150,000 that was contained in the stimulus package lowered the burden for 95 percent of working Americans by $116 billion, or about $400 per year for individuals and $800 for married couples. Other measures include breaks for college education, moderate- income families and the unemployed and incentives to promote renewable energy.

Fact - Economy Grows Again - Today, the Commerce Department reported the economy grew at a 2 percent annual rate in the third quarter as consumer spending climbed the most in almost four years, a sign the expansion is developing staying power. In the past year, the economy has grown 3.1 percent.

MCCONNELL: The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president. Perhaps McConnell didn’t mean to, but he provided insight into his contempt for the plight of average voters. What’s the most important job? Not creating a climate to aid job creation. Not cutting the deficit. Not even cutting taxes.

“Mitch McConnell’s idea of ‘achievement’ illustrates everything that’s wrong with the Republican Party,” Kaine said. “For Republicans, it’s not about creating jobs; not about economic recovery or security; not about creating better educational opportunities. For Republicans, it’s about partisanship over solutions.”

In a recent interview Karl Rove, as always, was aggressive, arrogant and cocky as he presented his view that the Republicans were justified in all they do ... but, interestingly, not once did he ever state or even infer that they were better for the average American. From even his biased perspective it was obvious that they cater to Special Interests and the select few, that they boldly neglect and con the public and then he rationalized that their actions are just no worse than the Democrats’. Well, for the average American they are definitely worse; Bush-Cheney clearly proved that, which is what they are now making every effort to return to, is what their strong supporters demand and are trying to buy, and is what they are aggressively trying to con and manipulate the voters into supporting. If they are successful, then we likely will be returned to ‘more of the same’ that cost us so much and that literally caused the drastic problems, with no amount of their constant subterfuge being able to make it any less of a catastrophe for the average American.

Not entirely true. I seldom vote major party, though its true that when I do it's usually for the dem. My thoughts are that both major parties laugh at the American voter. Each party knows they will get power back. The repubs screw things up for a few years, the voters get tired of it and vote in the dems. The dems screw things up for a few years and the cycle continues. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Until we get over our 2 party metallity, we will remain in our collective psychosis.
