Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott has spent more than $60 million of his own money during his run for governor of Florida, reports show.
Scott has personally contributed $48.8 million with his wife's trust adding an additional $11.3 million, bringing the grand total to $60.1 million.
The Naples businessman -- who claims a net worth of $219 million -- spent $50.2 million of his personal funds just on his primary bid alone.
Since the primary, Scott has used $9.9 million of his personal fortune. His Democratic opponent Alex Sink's campaign spent at least $8.6 million since she began her bid for governor in early 2009.
Scott has raised $1.1 million, plus an additional $3 million of in-kind donations most coming from the Republican Party of Florida, since the start of October.
Campaign finance figures for the week ending Oct. 15, show that Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott spent $3.9 million in his bid to succeed Gov. Charlie Crist. The Naples businessman added another $3.6 million of his personal fortune to his campaign fund, increasing to more than $60 million the money he and his wife have pumped into his largely self-funded campaign.

Money means nothing to these people. Unless, of course, it involves getting more of it at the expense of hard working, honest, Americans by sending their jobs to the less fortunate in China or somewhere...
...or if it involves getting it by committing medicare fraud.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/nakedpolitics/2010/06/rick-scotts-role-in-columbiahca-scandal.html
Spending $48.8 million of your own money for a job that pays...maybe $200,000. This guy deserves to lose his money. Hope he's not running on fiscal responsibility.
So, the lack of wealth is a prerequisite for candidates? Conversely, for example, should Barry Obama have to forfeit all of the wealth that he has accumulated while enjoying public office at the taxpayers' expense?
Let's Be A Fraud
Medicare fraud by Scott?
O'Donnell scamming her supporters with money that she used to you know, live on.
The list is endless.
Miller in Alaska has to be the worst though.
The GOP.
Pass The Buck. Blame The Democrats.
Or the Iraqi's. Anybody but themselves.
Will Scott rob Florida like he did MEDICARE!
...another candidate that can't wait to get his hands on the low-paying (by contrast) government job!
Why?
One can only wish that this miserable cretin will not be able to buy his way into the Governorship, he is now behind in the polls and am hoping Alex Sink will sink him. When you have a well known Republican law enforcement officer and other fine citizens denounce him as untrustworthy in tv ads you know he is in trouble..despite his money. He is a scumbag.
I TAKE THE FIFTH. I CANNOT TELL THE TRUTH. THIS IS MY POLICY.
If you want behind doors government. A cannot tell the truth governor. A Snake in the grass policies. A pick pocket-er taking care of your money. Then yes vote for Rick Scott.
This vote is between CRAP and CRAPIER! If I have to listen to one more Sink commercial, I am gonna HURL! Take that southern SAPPY voice and SHOVE IT!!! Her latest commercial reminds me of a 4 year old...Take that back... right now... as she stomps her foot at the boy who teased her.
Pat....do you want to talk about John Kerry, Charles Rangel and Maxine Waters or are you just excluding actual MEMBERS of Congress?
It is just me, or does this seem kinda ODD??
What EXACTLY does this man expect to gain from this position that he is willing to spend $60 MILLION of his own dollars?
My research shows that Rick Scott was a part of an organisation that overbilled Medicare for BILLIONS of dollars and was fined.
If he was the head an organisation that commits Medicare FRAUD (andhad to pay a hefty fine for that too), why is he even being considered for the Governorship of Florida?
Can we say... crook?
I've said it before about Meg Whitman pouring $145 MILLION into her campaign for a job that pays roughly $200K per year...
Hmmm.... doesn't appear to be a very good return on her investment does it? lol
Dear Pietro, $60 Million? Ah, that's nothing to people like him. All the rich people are in bed with each other for this election. And it has nothing to do with jobs.
Go over to Think Progress, this is what they want (below); this is what they're up to in this election. And they have plenty of support from the American people to boot. Yet they keep blaming the Democrats. Just like the Iraq War. They blamed the Iraqi's for 9/11. It's what they do.
Hide the truth.
"Yesterday, the Chamber kicked off its U.S. Chamber Institute For Legal Reform Legal Reform Summit 2010, where it is advocating for its pro-corporate “legal reform” agenda. As a part of the agenda, the Chamber is presenting a paper at its summit titled “Restoring Balance: Proposed Amendments to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.”
Since 1977, when it was first enacted, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) has been the government’s main enforcement mechanism to stop American-based multinational firms from bribing foreign governments in order to win special business advantages. The anti-corruption law has been especially strong during the Obama Administration, during which FCPA-related fines collected by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) dramatically increased — in just the first two months of 2010, they totaled $1.2 billion, far more than the measly $87 million collected in all of 2007 by the Bush Administration.
Therefore, it makes sense that, now, with the “likelihood of a Republican wave in midterm elections” being increasingly high, the Chamber would release a paper proposing amendments to the law that would serve to gut many of its core provisions..."
__________
Does the Chamber or the Republican Party ever do anything for us?
Nope.
Pat:
They have more money than sense. I guess I would rather have good common sense. It will be interesting to break this down to dollars per vote.
Pietro, Columbus, Ohio
What EXACTLY does this man expect to gain from this position that he is willing to spend $60 MILLION of his own dollars?
The disgraced Rick Scott is expecting Floridans are dumbed down or too old and gray to remember his fraud.
Scott has already worked with a group to repeal health care. He is now connected to Solantic, a health care group. He's spending all that money to become governor so he can make more money by changing laws. He preaches fiscal responsibility and being an "outsider" but all the long time Repubs have lined up for him and he certainly hasn't turned down their help. Former governor Jeb Bush has far too much influence in Florida politics.
Pietro....that's the multimillion dollar question inquiring minds want to know. His company Columbia Health Systems, was fined $1.7Billion over Medicare fraud, when asked to testify under oath, he took the 5th. Another one of those wonderful fiscal conservatives
.
Sink has her fair share of corruption too but you would never admit a democrat is corrupt now would you???
FedupwithFed - I am sure she has, but is Alex Sink's corruption in the tune of $1.7 BILLION??
The $1.7 BILLION FINE catches my eye.
Does it not catch yours?
Democrats are Jealous of people that have Money.... and they get Angry when they choose to spend it as they wish...
Democrats want to take your money away from you and spend it how they Wish....
They Believe any money you have belongs to the govt... unless its theirs..
Steve-505729
Democrats are Jealous of people that have Money.... and they get Angry when they choose to spend it as they wish...
And Tea Baggers are jealous and angry that 2 accomplished lawyers occupy the White House .
Jesus, Steve- will you and No Jo and JoWhanna and Bill and others FINALLY get this right: We do NOT think the rich people's money is ours or anyone else's EXCEPT for the people that lost that money when those same rich people gleaned it from the savings they reaped by taking away the jobs of good Americans and giving them to people in China and elsewhere.
Being wealthy- NOT a sin. Ripping off your fellow citizens so you can get even more when you already have plenty- if not a sin, then it should be (according to YOUR god, by the way).
Steve,
I'll keep this post of yours in mind next time I see someone on this blog trying the "George Soros" argument.
Hey.. Da Noid..
George can spend his money however he wants... but you can't speak out of both sides of your mouth... the only time you complain is when its a Rich Republican spending his/her money...
I understand you dont like Republicns Spending their money how they want..
Beverly,
Two "accomplished" attorneys?
Or "Two" accomplishments (writing two books about himself)?
Poor Drive-thru. His vision of Obama taking the money from the mean old nasty rich people that apparently have stolen it from him is crumbling right before his eyes. My guess is you got this vision when the big kids stole your lunch money in grade school, correct?
So what do you suggest Drive-thru? Do you think all the rich people in the country should go in front of the newly formed Rich People Tribunal to be judged on whether they stole the money they said they earned? Just what criteria do you suggest be used in making that determination?
My. Some of you Libs, and you know who you are, should just take a little vacation. Time off from the reality for how bad next week will be for you. Relax, settle down, recharge, and when that's done come back here for some more verbal beatings.
Go back and re-read the post, JAS, if you have to.
Get real and stop the re-direction attempts. No one is buying 'em.
The obvious difference is this....Repubs take money and give it to each other Dem. take money and give it to everyone
I'll go with the Dems!!!!
Thanks for speaking up, Drive-by. I'm happy for the success people have and glad that they are financially well off. I do wish they would remember that the success, while for the most part due to their own hard work or fortune in inheriting it, is also made possible because America is the greatest country on earth and it is living here that makes all dreams possible. I would think anyone having that kind of success would support the country that makes it possible.
No, there's a difference in having money or making it hurting others. Also, it isn't that Democrats dislike people who have money, or who have earned it honestly - it's that most people (not just Democrats) don't like the idea of any candidate "buying" an election - it just doesn't seem ethical.
Chuck, Mark, Domenico, Ali, Will,
I'm calling FR out. But first, I will ask, have any of you covered this story over the past few days?
Keith Ellison is being blatantly misrepresented by the Tea Party. Why aren't their lies being about this man, who is a Muslim, being exposed? This news isn't just for Black America, it's for all Americans who believe that the Constitution establishes the right for all Americans to practice whatever faith their conscience directs them to practice. Congressman Ellison should not be singled out just because of his faith, and his beliefs should not be distorted to satisfy the political aims of the Tea Party.
The Tea Party is a terrorist organization, willing to continuously use mistruths and lies to stoke the fears and fan the fevor of one demographic of the American public.
I challenge you "journalists" at FR do your jobs and bring this story to light.
Endurance:
I think there are just too many lies for FR to cover them all. But you certainly picked a good place to start.
Endurance - you know that the Tea Party - as presented - is the rabid wing of the Republican Party, correct?
Steve, you sound like a Maddoff fan!
It's my money....you people were too stupid to realize that I was stealing from you.....now go away and leave me alone. It's my money! Don't be jealous! It's my money! Of course it was yours before I stole it!
Liars, Thieves, Criminals!
Chilled..
No.. Maddoff was a Democrat..... I am a republican.......
Endurance....that's more of what we need. This is the first I've read about Mr. Ellison having to deal with the bigotry in his reelection bid, but don't hold your breath waiting for the MSM to jump on that one too quickly. First there is so much bad behaviour exhibited this election season, it would be hard to keep up.
That is not an excuse for said behaviour, just a sign of the times that little, shocks us anymore. Some of the posters here and other sites are beneath contempt, their hatred is so hard core under the anonyimity of the Internet one wonders how it would be face to face. I suppose like all liars and hypocrites they would say, if confronted, 'it was a joke' or 'my words were taken out of context' or the best, have their press agent, say 'no, you misunderstand, this is what he/she was trying to say'. Right!
The Republican/TPs (what's the difference) leaders never denounce these people, never try to set a better example but sit on the sidelines along with their silent partners, the moneybaggers, and quietly cheer them on. Now, before anyone jumps down my throat, I know there are some on the Dems side, but by far, the rudeness, the ignorance and yes the veiled threats have come from the Republicans. I am not sure what your goals are besides power, because you have no ideas, no loyalty to your country and no regard for your fellow citizens who hold different views or may look different, or pray to a different God....I hope you God will forgive you for what you have wrought to this beautiful land.
Endurance,
The Tea Party sends an e-mail that says this guy is one of the most radical members of Congress, has a zero rating from the American Conservative Union, is a Muslim who supports CAIR/HAMAS and has helped Congress send millions of tax dollars to terrorists in Gaza.
Then from this I guess theroot.com guys surmise and state "People actually wonder why folks think the Tea Party is racist."
Funny, right beside that comment is their MOST POPULAR stories: 1. Halloween in a Not-So-Post-Racial America; 2. The Blackest White Folks We Know; 3. 'In Living Color'; 4. Interview 5. A Decade of Black Genius
Yea - Chuck, Mark, Domenico, Ali, Will
DO YOUR JOBS!
As Red says - LOL
Steve. I'm not sure about his politics. You seem sure that Democrats are jealous of rich folks.....Bernie is a fine example of thieving rich folks that you seem to admire!
I am sure that he is a thief! Courts said so!
Hey... Dont talk about "In living Color"... My Cousin was a Fly Girl... and i must admit i had a Great time hanging out with the Cast at one of there "Wrap" parties.....
It was a great time.....
It was great.
Chuck/company's time would probably be better served watching it, instead.
Dear Bob,
Regarding your response to the fact that currency manipulation and non-uniform production standards account mostly for why our jobs went and are still going to China - and that its taxes and regulations, below is the truth.
Taxes are officially around 30% for corporate, but nominally closer to 10% (loopholes, subsidies, provisioning, accounting gimmicks, and evasion). Also taxes are only paid on profits - you know that.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/08/12/national/main4342535.shtml
If we reduced our coporate tax rates to ZERO, no jobs would come back from China. If we all took subsistence wages (just feeding), and removed all our regulations, similarly no jobs would come back, you'd just get more cancers, waste dumping, bad products (lead in children's toys from China) etc. But the difference betweeen our production costs and China's is not 30%. Even our food which would economically be cheaper is not inspite of us exporting food mostly to China than the other way round because the cost of living is way lower there since the market does not get to set the currency rate. Can you understand this?
Dont focus so much on hating Obama - he will be fine, this is about your life and ours and more than any big government nonsense (FACT: 2008+2009 govenrment federal job losses is negative - as you can EASILY verify and it includes addition and later subtraction of census jobs and is still well negative) is that of our job losses whcih can now only be best fixed through tax policies.
Hi J.Richter,
I think of business leaving the country kind of like a divorce. Most of the time neither party wants it, it takes a lot to push it to the point of that decision, but once they split, they don't come back.
The important thing is to save the marriage before the divorce, or save the jobs before they move.
Sorry I'm short on time right now, but I would like to say I don't think of Obama in personal terms. I don't hate Obama. I care about this country and what is happening. I don't care about the dreams/visions of his father, I care about the dreams and visions of our founding fathers.
Thanks for the cordial rejoinder. Your pertinacity is admirable and respected.
Endurance, you're an idiot. lol
In a sane world, most people would laugh someone like Scott out of the state for spending this kind of money. In a sane world, someone like Scott would use his money to buy an island or third world country. In a sane world if someone like Scott truly believed in nobleese oblige, he'd spend 10 million, say he truly feels obligated to help, sit down and donate the rest to his favorite college or hospital. But the world isn't sane anymore.
Maybe its a scheme to give money to FOX? I mean what are they spending all this money on: TV advertising, yes? Doesn't FOX get a chunk of that? I scratch your back, you scratch mine. If most of that 60 million goes to TV attack ads, maybe mailings, the rest must go to, I dunno...bribes?
Ya know Amy that's a thought.
The ponzi scheme of campaign funding. 150 million here, 60 million there. The ad manager gets paid, agencies get paid, networks get paid, all the money goes in a circle and ends up right back in the hands of the folks that spent it.
They all get richer since they are all invested in the campaign or ad agency!
Someone should check with Nancy Pelosi on this. I'm certain Nancy would say that's it's most efficent form of stimulus, after unemployment checks of course.
JAS1 ..why do you hate Speaker Pelosi? 'cause, 'cause, they (my talking points) told me to hate her!
I sincerely hope that you don't loose your job, and need unemployment benefits (that you pay for while employed)!
How would that square with you and your talking points? Probably like that liar Miller, in Alaska, that said unemployment benefits were unconstitutional but I guess they weren't when his wife was receiving them!
It's Pelosi....it's Pelosis' fault.....but, but, but, it's not Bushs' fault!
Wm.,
In a sane world there would be non-stop outrage about the constant stream of bizarre if not dangerous speech coming from many of the representatives of the right. I'm still waiting to hear a single positive thing from any of them.
This is the same as old meg-a-bucks here in California. They have promised favors to their greedy rich CEO friends and will get their money back with interest if they become governor.
These people don't spend their money to help the average Joe. No. These people are out for themselves. Old meg-a-bucks has already promised the richie riches of California that she will get rid of capital gains taxes. Who does that help? Not me, that's for sure. That is why I have voted for Jerry Brown.
I hope old meg-a-bucks, Cruella (golden parachute) F-Uprina, and Rick Scott all lose. The american voters should send these people the message saying that you can't by a governorship or a seat in the U.S. Senate.
One should always be suspicious of a political party that claims it is for limited government out of one side of its mouth, but will spend any amount of money to serve in government out of the other.
It's called "rigging the deck in your favor". It's called "heads they win" and "tails you lose".
But wait, there's more!
Yep folks, it's the American Way.
If somebody in government crosses you, donate millions of dollars in "free speech" money to make sure they don't get elected.
What could go wrong, right?
Better yet, elect your own Supreme Court judge as Massy Coal did in West VA. Few remember that no one paid a dime in damages after the Johnstown Flood. The rich and their private resort where the flood originated got off scot free.
vwterry
Wm.,

Can you believe Sarah Palin stands with Glenn Beck's violent rhetoric after being asked to show leadership against the violence of Tea Baggers?
David Brock: "I am personally going to call Sarah Palin" and "make a personal plea to her to stop this insanity"
Glenn Beck incited an attempted assassination plot against innocent employees of the Tides Foundation in San Francisco.
But that`s not all. There`s a history here as Ilyse said -- he has attempted to poison in effigy Nancy Pelosi on his set. That led to a death threat by a guy in San Francisco who threatened to burn her house down. That guy`s mother said he gets all his ideas from FOX News.
http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201010260053
Journalist John Hamilton recently documented that the gunman who plotted the assassination of leaders at the Tides Foundation and the ACLU said he saw Fox News' Glenn Beck as "a schoolteacher" and that "it was the things [Beck] exposed that blew my mind." Indeed, the gunman, Byron Williams, was driven by belief in conspiracy theories that have been pushed by Beck
http://mediamatters.org/blog/201010260009
Palin responds to Media Matters by telling Beck: "I stand with you, Glenn
http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201010280020
Sarah's next tweet should be interesting.
Media Matters..lol
Now that is funny.
Itm, tx
I don't see you trying to disprove or debate what Beverly posted, just taking empty shots at the source. I think it would be difficult to impossible to deny the discourse has fallen lower than any time in recent history.
I'm just laughing at the source. I don't have time to go back and forth about
kindergarten accusations. Some of us do have a life besides hanging on a blog all day.
I see a headline on the front page: "BP kew cement was unstable". Well, duh??
See now, folks, how important it is to let MONEY be the top priority for all occasions??
drive-by,
BTW - Wasn't Obama the largest recipient of BP money in the last 20 years? Didn't Obama's administration waive the BOP pressure test? Wasn't Obama's administration responsible for inspections, etc.
And BP thought they were getting their money's worth.
Obama was A recipient, but I don't think the BIGGEST recipient. Anyone have any info on this?
But- what does that matter? BP was still negilgent in the matter, no matter WHO they gave bucks to. And you know they gave bhcks for a reason. They expected something. Not sure what, but something. Which makes my comment still relevant, now, doesn't it?
He was the largest recipient in 20 years with regards to American politics. I'm sure they've spent more on others around the world.
There are other ties, such as Steven Chu/University of California, Berkley, the green dream politics , etc. BP certainly got its moneys worth in the handling of the spill from the money to Obama, but you're right - dead horse, especially in consideration of the other stuff going on.
Have a good evening.
Pietro,
That's the same question I have of Meg Whitman, why would anyone spend (in her case) more than 120 Million dollars for a position that pays less annually than the daily interest on her investments? While I don't like her, I know enough about Jerry Brown to not vote for him. No good choice here for Governor, nor would I wish that job on my worst enemy.
Meg-a-Bucks is buying the governorship. Meg-a-bucks is an investor and when investors invest they expect to make a profit on the money they shelled out. Old Meg-a-Bucks has a number of greedy CEO friends who she has most probably promised favors. When those promises are fulfilled she will start seeing her investment grow.
What is it about Jerry Brown that you don't like. Old Meg-a-Bucks said it herself when she talked about California 30yrs ago when dreams came true. Jerry brown was governor 30yrs ago. I'll put my money with him any day over old meg-a-bucks. Do you honestly believe people like her would fork over $140 million to help you. No my friend, she would not.
Living in L.A. - I have no skin in this battle nor do I have any skin (anymore) in the California battle (I lived in the L.A. basin for 14 years).
I am really more curious that anything else. When I see HUGE sums (well, at least it is huge to me) being spent for a political seat/title, that makes me suspicious.
In the case of Meg Whitman, I never knew her before this race. As far as Rick Scott is concerned, I saw MANY commercials by him during the Health Care Debate. I was also aware of his BILLION dollar fine (when someone pays a BILLION dollars for a fine, you tend to remember that).
What is really throwing me in the Florida race is that knowing all of the 'baggage' that Rick Scott has, people are STILL willing to vote for him!!
How can you vote for someone who paid a BILLION dollar fine for FRAUD?
Go figure.
EZ.
Go into the voting booth and fill in the bubble next to his name.
He didn't pay that fine out of his money. He belonged to a group that was held liable. That is just like my frat paying a fine for hazing, it cost me too but that doesn't mean I had anything to do with the hazing.
ITM....OMG
It's kinda' like the driver of the get-away vehicle saying "I had nothing to do with the robbery"! "I was in the car"! "I didn't know what they were doing"!
Complicit! Guilty! "Pay-Up"
Ramboet,
What I don't like about Jerry is that he's seventy years old, never held a job other than public service, and doesn't appear to have a clue about the depth of the California problems. In addition, as Attorney General he basically refused to defend a law (whether you like it or not) that the California voters enacted (Prop 8). I get it, it wouldn't be politically palatable for a man that wants to be Governor to defend a law that many find offensive, but that was not what he was elected to do, he was elected to defend the laws of the state, not only those laws that would further his goals. In that sense, he failed his responsibility as attorney general, which makes me disinclined to vote for him. I came to California at the tail end of his first pass at governor, he was a joke then, (within the state) and he's (in my opinion) a joke now.
Unfortunately for the Republicans, we've got a joke running as well, which will make this a "hold your nose" vote for many people. Regardless of whomever wins, or should I say doesn't lose, the outcome is unpleasant for the people of California. More gimmicks, more accounting trickery to paper over budget deficits, and generally speaking, pretty much a "screw you" attitude to the residents of the state.
A sad state of affairs for what was once the "Golden State". I've been here slightly more than 30 years, and I'm looking at other options, not just because of Jerry, although I have to admit, if I could retire now, I'd be gone with a snap of my fingers.
Probably more than you wanted to know, but I'm on furlough today (company sponsored, not public sector), so I've got more time on my hands than I know what to do with.
Have a great day.
Pietro,
I think the fine was paid by the firm, not him personally. That's not an excuse, just an observation. As CEO he should be held accountable for the actions of the firm, and quite possibly, that had some bearing on him resigning/being fired. The only basis for voting for someone with that baggage is that perhaps you feel the other person has proven him or herself incompetent. Meg Whitman has issues, Rick Scott has issues, I don't know Alex Sink, but perhaps to the people of Florida, her issues are as bad as Rick Scott's, just in a different vein.
Tuesday can't come soon enough, emotions are running very high on First Read, as well as in real life.
Here's my view, Republican House (240-205), Democratic Senate (51-49 including the two I's, still wondering what the Republicans will offer Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson) and the Republicans with a 31-19 majority in Governors.
Probably not the way you'd wish to see it, but I've been wrong before.
Nice view of accountability, In the Middle----he was the CEO of the group that paid the fine.
trust me whit-less knows exactly what she is doing....not very bright when it comes to politics, but a brilliant thief.....
If people with that much personal wealth were so concerned about our National deficit then they could contribute that money to the country since they are so patriotic that they are willing to provide service to the government at such a personal finacial loss.
Why are they crying about taxes then?
Its a Scam.
The Billions spent on campaigning each year could go to making Social Security or Medicare solvent. No, I think its just a way they recycle monies back to themselves. and then submit for matching taxpayer funds. After all when campaigning they use companies they or close personal friends have stakes in. Then they get to write off all the money spent as a loss on their taxes and since they employ their own businesses to they make a profit.
There's not that much Alturism in the world to sacrifice a fortune without any benefits.
" After all when campaigning they use companies they or close personal friends have stakes in. Then they get to write off all the money spent as a loss on their taxes and since they employ their own businesses to they make a profit."
If we had a real investigative media out there, we could get to the bottom of this, but today's journalists are too busy reporting on Sarah Palin's endorsements, O'Donnell's latest crazy talk and Obama's lack of support from people who didn't vote for him in the first place, you know, the hard hitting stories.
3 people have spent over a quarter billion dollars of their own money just to get elected. But keep in mind that this is normally in the form of loans to the campaign which they will get some back from you and I John Q taxpayer.
Longtime WWE connected firm makes out from Linda Mcmahon.
http://blogs.courant.com/rick_green/2010/10/mcmahon-nearing-50-m-in-campai.html
If we could take all the millions of personal wealth the GOPers have been spending, they could practically fund that NJ tunnel for Chris Christie. Further proof the GOP or their wealthy donors are trying to buy elections.
Good Old Rick took the 5th 75 times during the investigation regarding the Medicare fraud his company was found guilt of.
Ego + money=bad politician........
Maddoff went to jail for his fraud.Rick Scott gets to run for the Senate for his fraud. What is it that has dumbed down America???Is it too much to ask our people to use the brains God gave them. This is why we are falling behind the Asians and Europeans!!!!!!
This guy should just be given the job because he already knows how to waste money. Maybe he can get our debt problem in the zillions.
:)
What a shame for our wonderful state should Mr. Scott buy the election. If he is the best that the Republican party has to offer, it bodes poorly for the Republicans, and I feel so sorry for them. On the other hand, Mrs. Sink is no piece of gold either and if she is the best that the Democrats have, I feel equally sorry for the Dems.
This points out the sad state of Florida's politics, that good, honest men and women with integrity, honor, and values are not running for office anymore. Therefore we, the electorate, have to choose between the bad and the worst. In the governor's race, I took the bad, Mrs. Sink, over the worst possible candidate that possibly could have run. I would rather dance with the devil that I know than one that I don't.
It must be nice to have millions to spend on a campaign. Why do we continue to elect millionaires? I'm frightened for my life and job!
!
