Well it’s coming up on that time of the week. I don’t know about you’ll folks but I’m about wore out. But as usual we’ve all had a good time. Giggled a little at each other. Tweaked each other a mite. Had to rub on a bruise or two. Don’t look like no permanent harm has befallen anybody. So before I slide on out the door down to the Dew Drop Inn to make sure the Juke Box has gotten refilled with all the latest requests and we’ve got that extra bartender to make sure that everybody gets their favorites just right I want to pass on a thought. I think that voting and paying attention to our political process is getting more important than ever. Especially for you young folks and your children. For a while there my generation kind of put it on auto pilot thinking that the system would take care of itself and it kind of ended up in the ditch on us. So I’m hoping that we all have learned a lesson and won’t let that happen again. Lord Folks we got to try

As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week

Barkeep set everybody up a round somebody throw a Quarter in the music machine and let’s get this little shindig started before the RH ex ST figures out where I’m at and drags me back up on the Hill.

Red you need to grab you a couple of those Libert-tinis and get on over here in the chair. The Ink Man says he’s got a places he needs to be later and Grimey has already started on his Margaritas and drew a crowd

Hey, what happened? An excellent week on First Read, thanks to our hosts for a place to come and air our differences. What did we learn this week? Chamber of Commerce seems determined to sell this country out to the highest bidder, fine with them I suppose if they can make money, but bad for Joe and Joan America. NPR looks silly with the firing of Williams, DeMint and Cantor looks even sillier by trying to use it as an excuse to cut funding. While you are at it DeMint and Cantor, could you also work on ending the tax exempt status to churches that try to dictate how their members vote? Turn about WOULD be fair play. Got the furnace checked, fireplace too, the hay has been in the barn for sometime, I'm ready for winter, even though it is a gorgeous day out. Hope it is nice where all of you are. Headed for the Dew Drop Inn, Feisty, would love some pizza and a good red wine, I.R. Hope the jukebox is warmed up! See you there!

Newday got to cut wood for my furnace myself tomorrow. But the hays all in and alls quiet on the Hill and the leaves ought to hit peak this week. You slide on down to the Inn and sip on some of that good Red wine and enjoy the company. Got the jukebox all warmed up and even found some of Drive-By's favorites Miss Patsy Cline. I'm thinking a little "Crazy" ought to just about set the tone for the next week and a half judging by what I've been seeing for the last six months. Have a good weekend my friend

What did we learn this week? Chamber of Commerce seems determined to sell this country out to the highest bidder, fine with them I suppose if they can make money, but bad for Joe and Joan America

We also learned...

*84% of voters polled, including 80% of Republicans and 81% of Independents, believe voters have a right to know who is paying for ads for a particular candidate.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/plum-line/final%20disclosure%20polling%20memo%20.pdf

*The best fundraising tool this election season is Fox News and the Chamber of Commerce. But, the Democrats are closing the gap even after all that money and ads were targeted at Democrats.

*The false choice between intellectualism and common sense in TeaBagger Land is causing Americans to rethink their choices .

*Most FAKE Constitutionalist don't know anything about the Constitution; especially Joe Miller who has his own ideas about the 1st Amendment. Therefore, he had his thug security handcuff a journalist just for asking a question. Joe Miller’s security has dangerous ties to a domestic terrorism group; the Alaska Citizens Militia.

* The most lack of knowledge about the Constitution is coming from CristineO'Donnell. Jokes, no doubt, will be on SNL , Comedy Central, you tube. Other comedians will probably satirize the new Dumb bunnies aren't blonds. Instead it'll be about the red heads Sarah Palin, Cristine O'Donnell, and Sharon Angle. What's up with them all wearing red blazers?

*Wow, I forget there might be 2 dumb blonds; drunken caller Ginny Thomas and stringy headed Meg Whitman.

*The GOPTP Does NOT have a plan to jumpstart the economy.

*The GOPTP message is without a doubt is voter suppression since it’s highly publicized ad to Hispanics asks Hispanics stay home.

*The MSM didn't talk about the Deficit Getting Smaller from last year's record. It's DOWN FROM 10% Last Year.

http://www.hillpundit.com/blogs/on-the-money/budget/124491-federal-budget-deficit-for-2010-nearly-hits-13-trillion

*Lastly, Tea baggers are becoming more violent and advocates of insurrection.

Can’t join ya’ll at the Dew Drop Inn. My grandson is coming over. We‘ll be putting up Halloween decorations; and getting our costumes ready for the

Crazy week. I, for one, am glad the polls are tightening. The last thing the republicans need is a sense of complacency-we need our voters to get out there and vote!

I will be in and out next week. Lots of doors to knock on. Bad news, folks.

My candidates have a secret weapon.

I will have the most beautiful girl in the world with me. One look at that zillion watt smile, and you'd vote for Attila the Hun!

Is it fair? Well, after all, it is her future at stake. So, yes, it is fair.

    No No Jo,

Crazy week. I, for one, am glad the polls are tightening. The last thing the republicans need is a sense of complacency-we need our voters to get out there and vote!

Again, you make absolutely, positively no sense; as usual. Not only were republicans' sense of complacency overreaching it was simply lots of miscalculations and wasted money. Feel free to keep spinning.

I 'm glad you'll have the most beautiful girl in the world with you. I have to agree one smile from my grandson and your beautiful girl is our future.

    Have a nice weekend.

I actually DID see that poll. Had a good laugh over it.

I could not possibly explain the underlying math to you in this space, so I will give you an analogy:

If all of the neighbors on your block tell you that the guy around the corner bought a puppy, will you believe them, or the nut at the end of the block who tells you that he actually bought a one eyed, one toed, baby purple people eater?

There are polls, and there are propaganda polls. Try to remember that just days before the Massachusetts special, The Boston Globe came out with a poll that showed Coakley up by 17 points. The fact that it was a serious outlier was proven when Brown won by 5 points.

In other words, don't get too excited.

Is there no lengths the righties won't go to?

Dragging a sick child from door to door in the hope that you might possibly win a vote by doing so...

Is either despicable at best or downright delusional!

Yes... NJNB please do go knock on those doors... I'll be looking forward to a week off of your never ending doom & gloom!

PS: You keep focusing like a laser on ONE race from last year that 99.9% of the country has forgotten about... And the rest of us will focus on what's happening TODAY!

No, Fiesty, two. There are two races we will be knocking on doors to get out the vote for; both with lousy democrats who need to be replaced.

Thank God, my Princess is Not sick. She is doing well. If you looked at that beautiful face, you would never believe that baby had anything wrong with her.

I know you pretty well by now. You read that sentence, and shouted "YES!".

Most recognize that political reform is a real need and that to have any success it is necessary to get money out of politics. The problem is that the politicians and the money people won’t ever just give up the control and the advantages afforded them with the present system ... so it really is up to the voters.

Last night’s (10/21/2010) news announced that Karl Rove, with several ‘fat cats’ and ‘big money’ individuals, were now pouring money, $1M individual donations as well as $250M totals, into shadow groups who would flood the air waves with advertisements favoring Republican and Tea Party candidates who will pursue their interests. They really don’t want representatives who are concerned about the people, they just want ‘puppets’ who will do as directed. The problem doesn’t get any worse then that and, as we saw in 2000 and 2004, those efforts produce results that are not in the best interests of the people (who they consider only ‘pawns’ to be manipulated). The supreme court’s recent ruling has facilitated these efforts and no standing politician has ever given political reform more than lip service as the problem continues unabated. The abusers become more arrogant and even ‘cocky’ as they feel they can have what they want by just spending whatever they need to, to con and to manipulate public opinion and to just insultingly take the public for granted.

If the voters want to prompt and initiate a reform mentality, they can do so by having the huge amounts of money being spent be wasted, by having the manipulative efforts fail, by knocking the ‘cockiness’ out of the abusers and by refusing to be taken for granted. The Tea Party has the right idea but just the wrong cause as is proven by who created the movement, who strongly supports it, providing the vast amounts of money and as is evidenced in the ‘puppet’ candidates chosen. The problem with the Tea Party Movement is that they are really being conned, manipulated and used more than anyone else. No, the voters need to recognize the con being perpetrated, the money being spent and where it is coming from, the arrogance and offensive ‘cockiness’ of those boldly taking the people for granted and then be insulted and refuse to be duped, refuse to be used and to be given only deceptive rhetoric.

The Democrats need to improve and to listen to all of the people but the people need to recognize that currently they are the better opportunity with the Republicans totally focused on their political ambitions and only on the select few who ‘pull their strings’. It is obvious that the Republicans want to return to more of the same (Bush-Cheney style) which cost us so much and totally concentrated on benefit for only Special Interests and the select few (the money), while giving the majority nothing but apathy, the costs and an abundance of subterfuge. Who believes that if the Republicans (regular and Tea Party alike) are successful that after repealing the changes made, they then would honestly work at making the changes needed - it would obviously be against everything they have done to date and definitely not what their ‘puppet masters’ want. What the people need to do is to pressure the Democrats to do better and to firmly reject the Republicans (including the Tea Party (camouflaged) Republicans). Possibly then the politicians will see that the voters have real control and can’t just be manipulated and used and in 2012 they all would be focused on the people’s best interests and give us real choice.

Being a substantial income tax payer.. If the playing field was fair.. then

I should have a right too choose.. like a woman's right too choose over her body and have an abortion or not.. Its my money .. So I should have the right too say HELL no does my money go too the OBSCENE Union Pensions.. Hell No too 99 Weeks of Welfare and other Entitlements.. I CHOOSE not too fund an Entitlement society!! All you democrats want too give the woman the choice even after the heart starts beating.. fine.. even though a crime of humanity.. But then give us who actually pay income tax.. the right too choose where are money goes..

Thats what I thought.. All you socialist scum want too redistribute the wealth.. from the productive and give too those who deserve nothing..

A Baby with a heart beating deserves better than a hanger too the head.. But you DEM's.. do not think its right too give the choice too the actual income tax payer too choose where their tax dollars go.

Income tax should be personal as abortion... In america Women have the right too choose too do with what they want with their body.. well we 30-40% who actually pay income tax should also have the right too choose what we do with those taxes..

A Socialist Double Standard if I ever heard of one!.

I'll bet that you don't even know what a person has to go through in order to get Section 8, food stamps, WIC, Medicaid/Medicare, unemployment or disability.

Let's cover what the Tea Party is all about.

They say that they were opposed to the stimulus, but they have Boehner, Bachmann, and McConnell stating that the stimulus indeed worked & they want want money for various projects for their respective states thereby putting people back to work, and they don't want to admit to the fact that it was the Bush Administration that handed out stimulus money back in 2001.

They say that they aren't racist, sexist or homophobic, but their agenda has some of the most intolerant views displayed at their rallies, from re-pealing DADT and Anti-Illegal Immigration to their views on race and religion.

They say that they are for the Constitution and the laws of the land, but most of their candidates don't know the first thing about what the amendments cover; although they will harp about the 2nd and 10th Amendments, and they want to do away with amendments primarily geared toward Civil Rights, Women's Rights, and rights specifically dealing with citizenship, nor can any of them name one SCOTUS Ruling that they find interesting or troubling.

They say that they are against the Big Boys (Oil, coal, insurance, et al) but they want to do away with legislation that keeps them environmentally compliant, and becoming a burden to low and middle class families by bailing them out in the future.

They say that they do not want to pay anymore taxes and that the Bush Tax Cuts should remain at the current level especially for the rich, but fail to acknowledge the fact that 95% percent of Americans and those who make $250,000.00 or less hav received the lowest tax break in over 40 years and haven't paid any new taxes OR have seen their taxes increase, and research after research has proven that the tax cuts for the rich have been detrimental and devastating on this country.

So how do they plan on taking over the nation? It started out when the SCOTUS ruled that corporations could donate untold sums of money in our elections, and with most of those corporations are overseas, foreign interest can funnel money into the U.S Chamber of Commerce, thereby making its way to Tea Party/ GOP Candidates hands. Secondly, they are hoping that PROLIBDEMS will be so frustrated and angry with how things got passed that they will not turn out this election to vote. Third is by using "Swift boating" Tactics, and this is tailor made for the Latino Voters because of their stance on immigration, they realize that if they can either deter them or try to push them to vote Republican, this would be a win for them. And finally, African Americans have voted in numbers that they could not conceive for Democrats(75-90%), so they are going to break out TWO playbooks: First being the "Southern Strategy"(Refer to the 1964 Presidential Election to get an understanding) because if they can get 10-20% of the Black Vote, it would be a victory for them; the second playbook would be the one they used back during the 2000 and 2004 Presidential Elections where they used voter intimidation tactics to deter African American Voters from voting in their respective precincts.

Yes, the Tea Party/ Republican Party have an impressive "rainbow coalition" of candidates to vote for them next week.

Personally, I DON'T INTEND TO SEE THEM SERVE IN ANY OFFICE!!!!!!

To my PROLIBDEM brothers and sisters, I say this to you: I don't blame you for being upset. But you have got to realize that anger and frustration must be tempered by logic. Progress is not without its growing pains and headaches, and we knew what we were in for when we all declared in one voice that we wanted change for the better for this country when we voted for Barack Obama to be the 44th POTUS. Yes, like some of you, I was frustrated and angry that the Democrats went out of their way to get the Republicans to go along with the plans and policies to get this country back on track; yes, they took out a lot of the teeth in their legislations that would've had wide sweeping effects on on the Big Boys; but despite that, I ask you to look at what we've accomplished in less than two short years: HCR passed, Finance Reform passed, DADT is in the process of being re-pealed, two Liberals are sitting on the Supreme Court, the stimulus worked and unemployment is under 10%, the strategy in Afghanistan is working, and finally Iraq has came to an end. And for those bills that have passed, I want you to think about something: If the Democrats REGAIN OR ADD MORE people filling in those seats in the House and Senate, we can take those bills back and have those measures VOTED IN, making them IRONCLAD!!! The absolute worst thing you could do is sit at home and do NOTHING!!!!
