GOP watch: Boehner embraces the Tea Party

“This year, Boehner is using a different strategy as he tries to position himself as the next House speaker,” the AP writes. “He has diverted more than a quarter-million dollars of his business-funded war chest to 29 avowedly antiestablishment candidates who have been endorsed by elements of the Tea Party movement. The donations to these hopefuls, from Oregon to Alabama, show more than the Republican Party’s broad embrace of insurgents in a year when Democrats are on the defensive. They also appear to reflect Boehner’s pragmatic desire to promote ties with a new crop of impassioned conservatives, some of whom could hold the keys to a Republican takeover of the House.”

Orrin Hatch said Clarence Thomas does deserve an apology from Anita Hill. Hatch on Twitter: "People have got to understand that Justice Thomas and his wife are good honest people who deserve an apology!"

He was there? Hatch told CNN: "Look, I was there. I know this more intimately than almost anybody. And I can tell you that Clarence Thomas was telling the truth… I think this has probably grated on Ginni all these years. And I think she was probably hoping that maybe Anita Hill would admit that what she said was wrong."

Tim Pawlenty says he’ll decide in March if he’s running for president in 2012. Gingrich also says March, and Mitch Daniels says April, per GOP 12.

This is news because...?? This is not some alarming thing. Most breathing Americans have seen the Tea Party move from the Republican guest house to the master bedroom. Try again with something more newsworthy.

I may not have been in the inner sanctum, but like Hatch, I was there too. Suffering through that BS nomination in 1991. Thomas has no credibility on this issue and will forever be labeled America's first documented Supreme Court pervert. Maybe Ginni had a brain fart (fairly common condition with Baggers), decided she could no longer suffer through his ED and wanted to blame someone, anyone for it. So after a frustrating Friday night she calls Anita's office at 7:30am the following morning when most of us would be cuddling our significant others. Go figure!

As to Tim Pawlenty and the other Republican "notables": the decision to run for the presidency should take no more than a nanosecond. That uninspiring, motley crew couldn't get a fly to land on s**t, let alone inspire a majority of Americans to vote for them. We'll watch you media drones salivate over those pending March/April decisions.

Next!

That's idiotic of Hatch. Calling for an apology is calling Anita Hill a liar. She has nothing to apologize for if she told the truth. So let's not be so NPR PC about this - Hatch called Anita Hill a liar, and he needs to be called on that.

      Thomas needs to "Man-Up"!

I always knew that the GOP likes to rewrite recent history - like the Bush era, but my God! now they want to rewrite 1992. Sounds like a bunch of Texas school board members.

These candidates would have been called "patriots" before the press swung so far left (communist)

Orrin you honesty think that Clarence was telling you the truth 19 years ago. sitting watching the conformation hearing i and everybody in the world knows he was lying his black A** off. maybe its because you knew him so well or was it because his wife was a republican operative and you could not desert her.

Anita a lawyer knows telling a lie under oath will get you in trouble. so what did she have to gain by lying about that old black goat and his Lilly white wife.

Many tea partiers want lower spending, but still want their Medicare. They don't want bank bailouts, but they still want their free checking. They only want to buy American made cars, but don't want to save American companies. They want the right to bear arms and be self sufficient, but don't cut their police or fire protection. They're against the national debt, but still think the rich should keep their tax cuts. To describe the tea partiers as schizophrenic is insulting to schizophrenics.

Wm,-375815, That's how America is run and how it is lived for generations. We don't need extremes. You have to work for it the old fashioned way. When govts start sharing out the goodies, there will be unrest like in France. In every society everyone has to strive for themselves.
