Yesterday's debates

COLORADO: “Unlike many previous encounters between Democrat John Hickenlooper, Republican nominee Dan Maes and American Constitution Party standard bearer Tom Tancredo, immigration as a debate topic was mostly missing-in-action,” the Denver Business Journal wrote of last night’s gubernatorial debate. http://bit.ly/d3emy0

KENTUCKY: In yesterday’s Senate debate, Republican Rand Paul said publicly for the first time that he would vote in a Senate Republican caucus for U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell of Louisville to lead the GOP,” the Lexington Herald-Leader wrote. “He has said before that he supports McConnell for the leadership position but has hedged to say he would vote for whomever the caucus selects. That gave rise to speculation that he might back U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, a favorite of the Tea Party movement.”

MISSOURI: “Democrat Robin Carnahan cast Republican rival Roy Blunt as a lobbyist's best friend while Blunt retorted that she was repeatedly twisting the truth Thursday in the first debate of Missouri's U.S. Senate race,” the AP reports.

NEVADA: "In a crackling campaign debate, Republican challenger Sharron Angle attacked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Thursday night as a career politician who lives in a fashionable Washington condominium and has voted to raise taxes 300 times. The four-term veteran called his tea party-backed rival extreme and accused her of distorting his record," the AP says. "Angle played the aggressor from the opening moments of the hour-long debate, at one point taunting him to 'man up, Harry Reid' as she urged him to concede that Social Security faces financial difficulty."

The Las Vegas Sun: "U.S. Senate candidates Sharron Angle and Harry Reid had clear-cut strategies in their lone joint appearance before an audience of mainstream voters this campaign. Angle, the Republican, sought to use Thursday’s televised debate to buck the constructed image of her as an extreme conservative. Reid, the Democratic Senate majority leader, sought to convince voters he understands their economic plight, and defend the policies that so far have failed to generate a significant recovery in Nevada. Neither candidate, analysts agreed, was able to deliver that perfect message capable of wrenching away their opponent’s supporters or moving undecided voters into their column."

Politico’s Martin adds, “While neither gaffe-prone candidate committed a major error, both struggled throughout the hour-long forum at a PBS station to convey their message and defend their past statements. The much-anticipated showdown here had more flubs than fireworks.”

The New York Times: “What viewers saw here was a vivid contrast of philosophy between two competing forces in American politics this election cycle: Mr. Reid, the face of the Democratic establishment and champion of President Obama’s policies, and Ms. Angle, the hero of the Tea Party.”

WASHINGTON: “Meeting for their first debate Thursday, Democratic Sen. Patty Murray and Republican challenger Dino Rossi clashed on tax cuts for the wealthy, the health-care overhaul and whether gays should openly serve in the military,” the Seattle Times reports. “But above all, the rivals offered starkly different views of whether Murray's 18 years of experience in the U.S. Senate are beneficial for the state.”

Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats in Congress still do not get it and probably never will:

The American people and American small business want lower taxes for EVERYONE while Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats will raise taxes on some and probably everyone to pay for the reckless spending they put in place.

The American people and American small business want smaller government while Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats have and plan to continue to greatly increase the size of government.

The American people and American small business want less government intervention into their lives and private affaires while Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats will continue to expand onerous regulation which raises costs, reduces the standard of living, and inhibits job growth.

The American people and American small business did not want the so-called healthcare reform while Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats continue to ignore how this law will cost the American people and small businesses more, reduce choice in healthcare, and restrict access to healthcare for many people.

The current Administration and current Congress must realize a large portion of the American people are fed up with high taxes, big government, and obtrusive government meddling in the private lives of people, business, and the economy. The American people what lower taxes, lower government spending, and smaller government.

As long as our government continues the reckless spending, high taxes, and unprecedented meddling with businesses, we cannot expect real long term growth.

The Congress and current Administration have put the country on a course of reckless government spending that has mortgaged the future of all Americans especially future generations. The only way to fix this long term structural problem is to create a pro-growth atmosphere for business. To do this we must reduce taxes NOW. How many different taxes does a business or individual pay on a regular basis? We must eliminate number and complexity of all these taxes and reduce the tax burden.

We also need to end the micro-management of business and the economy. Until we GREATLY reduce the tax burden on business and consumers and remove the senseless regulations that accomplish little in relation to the cost they impose, our future is bleak.

Angry Mob Voter, You do realize that tax cuts have been in effect for at least nine years! Now answer this question, tax cuts are in effect at this very minute and we still have high unemployment, WHY! Does tax cuts wear out and you have to give new ones? Employment started it's downward spiral at the end of 2007 or first part of 2008 and has continued until the spring of 2009. The unemployment figure is still to high but appears to be getting better. But if we lost jobs with tax cuts in place, why do you think employment will improve with more cuts?

No jobs because they were outsourced. You know like Carly did for HP - sent 32,000 jobs overseas and she is proud of it. Thank you Republicans.

      #1.2 - Fri Oct 15, 2010 12:07 PM EDT

Jobs get outsourced due to UNIONS, TAXES, and GOVERNMENT REGULATION. It is the consumer that is shopping by price. The consumer cannot have it both ways. If you want low prices but also what unions and government regulation, you will get jobs sent overseas. Higher taxes and more government regulation push jobs overseas. Our economy is being destroyed before our eyes by the reckless policies of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats.

Do the math. The reckless spending by Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats will mean huge tax increases in the future. We cannot afford Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Democrats.

"Jobs get outsourced due to UNIONS, TAXES, and GOVERNMENT REGULATION. "

How did you miss adding PROFITS for stockholders and GOLDEN PARACHUTES for upper management that wipes out jobs for good Americans, then takes the $$$ and runs.?

Those profits fuel dividends and the increases in stock prices. Where is your 401k invested?

It is senseless government regulation and high taxes which are killing jobs.

Nevada has highest foreclosure rate. We need someone to represent distressed homeowners.

Letter to Wells Fargo Spokeswpman Vickee Adams,

            Dear Ms. Vickee Adams,

In your recent Wells Fargo's press release, you declared that ""Our records show that Wells Fargo's foreclosure affidavits are accurate, When the company finds employees that don't follow procedure, it takes "corrective action."

That's a lie. I can say for a fact that Wells Fargo made us fraudulent mortgage loan and
foreclosed my home based on hugely inflated and fraudulent appraisal and refused to correct its mortgage fraud.

Wells Fargo teamed up with its attorneys and spent last 4 years in Nevada courts defending its appraisal and mortgage fraud.

Wells Fargo and its attorneys knew it’s Category C Felony to make mortgage loan based on fraudulent appraisal.

Wells Fargo and its attorneys knew it’s Category C Felony to foreclose home based on fraudulent appraisal.

Wells Fargo chose to violate the law and chose to defraud us.

Hold Wells Fargo Accountable! Save American Dream! Restore banking integrity.

Our firm conducts forensic fraud audits for law firms and lenders and has been heavily involved in class action expert witness work on the loan level.

We can confirm that the number of fraud-related issues surrounding Wells Fargo Home Mortgage were exponentially greater than those by any other firm, with the exception of Countrywide and their non-arms length appraisal arm, Landsafe.

RELs Valuation, otherwise known as "a joint venture with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage" has been identified in multiple mortgage fraud cases to have overinflated values, 'rubber stamped' desk and field review values and otherwise manipulated property values in order to increase loan size and fees that were retained by the mortgage giant during the origination and funding of mortgage loans.

This practice was a widespread predatory lending manipulation that remained behind the "green curtain" until recent foreclosure fraud practices came to light.

While industry insiders relied on these practices of using "wholly owned subsidiaries" or non-arms length appraisal valuation firms, (a known fraud practice evidencing collusion between two related parties and not acceptable when committed on behalf of the borrower but allowable by the Banks), consumers remained almost entirely in the dark as to the behind the scenes manipulation of values occurring.

Customers of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Countrywide Home Loans in particular should demand a forensic audit of the valuation methodology utilized in determining the Loan to Value if they are facing foreclosure or otherwise suspect mortgage fraud on behalf of their mortgage originators.

There is a story where a student was having difficulty learning a complex lesson and the sage teaching him abruptly stopped and made tea. When serving the tea the sage kept pouring until the teacup overflowed, filling the saucer and even flowing on to the table. The puzzled student looked at the sage who then replied that like the tea cup the student’s mind must first be emptied to allow more to fit in.

Much like the student, people making political choices that have their minds filled with biases, prejudices and emotional attachments have difficulty fitting in any information that doesn’t match their preconceived ideas. There are those who play to that for their own advantage and with creative and aggressive appeals, frequently being grossly dishonest and even bazaar, seek to excite and manipulate public opinion. With something so important, it is simply a real and costly shame as then, as we have seen, people can literally be swayed and actually be used and abused by causing them to vote against their own best interests.

Today we see substantial efforts by candidates and their supporters and overtly and covertly by political and special interests groups, seeking personal gain, to be faulting Obama and the Democrats for everything – there are even those still saying Obama is not a citizen or that he is a Muslim. After refusing to participate or to offer any bipartisan cooperation to create, implement and fine tune solutions to the problems, the Republicans are actively faulting everything and now pushing for all changes to be repealed – and then actually expecting us to trust that those who have clearly demonstrated they don’t want any change, will none the less subsequently effect real change. The Tea Party movement is using the scare of run-away socialism without ever acknowledging that we are a long way from ever seeing that after having had long term neglect, apathy and irresponsibility thus causing the pendulum to have swung far to the right. For the last ten years the Republican Party has strongly and arrogantly supported policies favoring only Special Interests and the select few and in giving the majority only apathy, the costs and an abundance of subterfuge to rationalize and manipulate – the proof can easily be seen in that under their control the total middle-class has constantly lost ground as only the wealthy has consistently gained – yet they want to sell the public on supporting a return to ‘more of the same’. On and on, with the total ridiculousness of it all and the boldness of their efforts being apparent to anyone who can just step back and view it.

Obama and the Democrats seem conscientious enough but are far from perfect and what they do can always be improved upon yet whether Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever, with the teacup emptied to allow for rational and objective evaluation, it is absolutely clear the Republicans offer the average American nothing but deception and exploitation. As John Dean (a self-proclaimed Goldwater conservative) said in his book ‘Broken Government’, “with their present mindset they are totally incapable of responsibly governing”.

None of these "debates" are really debates, they are performance opportunities. And the moments the media seems to take away from them are very different from what I take away. In the "debate" between Sharron Angle and Sen. Harry Reid, Ms. Angle had on a bright red jacket that, when coupled with the green background on CSPAN, made her face a blur with a wide smile. Her voice was cracked, and all her points were rehearsed and made little sense with regard to what the moderator asked or Sen. Reid answered. Sen. Reid stood by the health care reform, while Ms. Angle couldn't say anything informative about health care -- for example, she says she wants people to buy insurance across state lines, but never gave an example of what she meant -- where would people in Nevada go to buy insurance if they could? what insurance companies in other states would do better for residents of Nevada? She had several "attack words" at the ready ("Man up, Harry") but they did not sound spontaneous. She criticized Sen. Reid for the home he has in DC without saying where she might live, or how she might find housing there....in short, she showed no evidence of having done any research or of thinking for herself.

I'm saddened at what politics does to people. I know both Sharron Angle and Harry Reid. They are both good, decent people.

To see each of them be less than fully honest is disappointing. To see what the press and the opposition party does to each of them is also saddening.

How did we, as a country, get to such a state when it comes to politicking?

Senior Senator Pat Murray of Washington State is yet another Senator Hart Reid following, voting the parallel lines as the majority of Democrats. Dino Rossi Republic adversary says in the latest debate with Murray, " "Complete and total failure" of federal government to control our borders. Rossi says he does not support amnesty to undocumented workers." For those interested in how Sen. Pat Murray has voted since 1997:

                  • Voted YES on continuing federal funding for declared "sanctuary cities". (Mar 2008)
                  • Voted YES on comprehensive immigration reform. (Jun 2007)
                  • Voted NO on declaring English as the official language of the US government. (Jun 2007)
                  • Voted YES on eliminating the "Y" non-immigrant guest-worker program. (May 2007)
                  • Voted NO on building a fence along the Mexican border. (Sept 2006)
                  • Voted YES on establishing a Guest Worker program. (May 2006)
                  • Voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security. (May 2006)
                  • Voted YES on giving Guest Workers a path to citizenship. (May 2006)
                  • Voted NO on allowing more foreign workers into the US for farm work. (Jul 1998) The 1986 Amnesty was full of fraud and never enforced.
                  • Voted YES on visas for skilled workers. (May 1998)
                  • Voted NO on limiting welfare for immigrants. (Jun 1997)

All are involved--one way or another--taking jobs from citizens and residents. Perhaps all these elected officials should ask Michael D. Andronovich, Los Angeles County Supervisor, the cost for welfare benefits for illegal alien children in the month of June. No wonder this California Sanctuary City has to folk out that month $48.000.000 dollars. That was 2009, when projected the cost would be $575 million dollars? Can anybody even estimate this expenditure, for just the children of illegal aliens for 2010? Annually the cost of illegal immigration to Los Angeles County taxpayers exceeds over $1 billion dollars. All these politicians have poor immigration records when voting and because of the money involved should be removed. Most would let illegal aliens access to your Social Security entitlements and are already federally funding Sanctuary Cities and States to the detriment of taxpayers.

All Liberal Democrats lawmakers have this agenda, including Governors, Mayors, Police chiefs and elected officials. Harry Reid has the 2nd highest jobless rates, next to foreclosures and an out-of-control welfare entitlement program. This powerful Senator did nothing to stop the illegal aliens pouring into the Silver State and then become public recipients of free health care and education. Hundreds of billions are being extracted from your wallet, to support millions of illegal nationals who are little or no education, and have become a liability to our country. Use your favorite search engine and check out your own States support of illegal aliens. An example could be--Nevada--illegal alien costs. Google---Illegal alien costs; health care; education; hospitals; voter fraud; Social Security; Use the the keyword illegal alien and learn the astronomical costs to taxpayers.

THE AMERICAN PEOPLE--are the Tea Party and will not be manipulated by the Liberal-Democrats extremists, Republicans elites, open-border or special interests to influence its leadership. Be prepared to see nefarious voting activities as the "Honor System" cannot be trusted anymore, which includes absentee balloting in close races. Fraudulent ID has become abundant by illegal aliens to steal jobs from Americans, so voting although a federal violation causes no concern to these people. Nevada where Reid and Angle are running neck to neck, must be scrutinized for voter irregularities, as is a massive community statewide of foreign nationals.

Is Senator Harry Reids declaration another posturing construction project, for a bullet train similar to Japans? That if it actually manifests into reality, it must be carefully investigated for illegal labor slipping between the cracks. Contractors are incorrigible rogues and to save money will hire people with fake ID, using sub-contractors as a front and no risk to themselves. Then President Obama's suddenly discusses of a new venture to renovate the erosion of our infrastructure. Should that become a reality the contractors must be carefully vetted for illegal workers in their employ. The only way to restrict foreign labor is with the operation of a permanent E-Verify identification system that Harry Reid has placed obstacles so to make make it only voluntary.

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada will certainly force through another illegal alien Amnesty, if he is returned to power. The Heritage Foundation has calculated that passing this law will cost taxpayers $2.6 trillion dollars. This amount will be added to the $13 Trillion, we already owe foreign Nations. Google--Illegal alien costs then judge for yourself and then come to a decision who to vote back into office. Senator Boxer (D-CA); Sen. Feingold (D-WI); Senator Murkoski (R-AK) Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-GA) Speaker Pelosi, Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, Jerry Brown; Charlie Crist; and Andrew Cuomo. (Cuomo effected the collapse of the real estate market). US Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill.

Angry Mob Voter - Why would any union member willingly allow jobs to be outsourced?  I've never heard of such a thing in the area of the country I live.  I have always thought and seen union members fight for what is best for them, their wages, benefits, safety, etc. but would never sell out to another country.  If anything, the companies and CEOs and others like stock holders would have a greater say in this - not the union members.
