“House Republicans are already examining which Democrats might want to switch parties after Nov. 2 and are mapping out a strategy for how to persuade them to make the leap,” Roll Call reports. “Republican aides and lobbyists said there are a handful of Democratic Members whom GOP leaders plan to target, with Member-to-Member conversations beginning immediately after the midterm elections… Democratic Reps. Dan Boren (Okla.), Walt Minnick (Idaho) and Heath Shuler (N.C.) are all on the Republicans’ target list. Reps. Mike McIntyre (N.C.) and Gene Taylor (Miss.) are also considered potential gets. House Democrats, meanwhile, are working on a counterstrategy to try to thwart any GOP poaching, and they are even eyeing a few Republicans they think might be willing to join their ranks.”

My gap of enthusiasm is at an enthusiastic gap.
Yet again we see that it isn't about the American people for the GOP, it's about winning.
The [contributing members of the] American people will be better off if the GOP wins, therefore it is all about the American people. The funny thing is the article mentions that the Democrats are going to try and "poach" Republicans as well which you fail to acknowledge but I guess that's just the typical liberal hypocrisy we've all come to expect.
I would hope these Democratic Reps would have the same response to the GOP as I would if I were approcached and asked to switch to the GOP - NOT IN THIS LIFE OR THE ONE HEREAFTER!
If someone wants to switch parties, that is their right, however, they should do so before running and being elected. That goes for switchers of both parites (including Arlen Specter). I would never trust someone who switched parties. In West Tennessee we had a fella that switched to the republican party about half way into his house term, guess what? he got his rear end beat big time in the next election because neither party trusted him and that is about how I'd feel about anyone who switched.
Anyone who wants to switch should ask them how did it work out for that guy in Georgia who switched and got beat in the Pug primary this year. I think anyone who switches will get beat in the priamry by a teabagger supported candidate.
Before Republicans allow any Democrat to come into the party they should demand a sincere apology for their role in advancing Obama's Communist manifesto. They should also have to write a 1,000 word essay on the meaning of the Constitution. Then they should be allowed a two year apprenticeship as a Republican.
Before repugnants are allowed to become part of the Democratic party they should have to give a talk to all high school seniors on the lies the repugnants constantly tell, the wealthy who are the only people they care about, and appoligize for allowing bush 1 to stack the supreme court in order to steal an election from the American voters. They also need to apoligize to workers for allowing repugnants to work them to death just to make the rich richer.
That's the republican way, you have to look like us, talk like us, walk like us and lie like us to become a republican. Oh and also you have to learn how to say NO to anything good for the country.
Mo,
Typical liberal divisiveness. Since when is it too much to ask for a member of congress to give their opinion on the meaning of the constitution? I guess it would only be an issue if someone chooses to blatantly ignore and/or trample all over the constitution.
Nancy,
Are you among the republicans who did not believe this should be the case when georgie & dickie were trampling all over the constitution? Are you one of those folks who thinks freedom of/from religion only pertains to Christians? Just curious, as most republicans I know are and only think the constitution is worthy if it fits their own personal/financial needs.
NRDDB
I know you are talking about Bush right? I mean he was real good about staying in the guidelines of the constitution wasn't he.
I'll trade Ben Nelson for a player to be named later.
I'd gladly trade a lamar alexander and bob corkscrew for just about anybody these days, except another set of repugnants.
Well Forrest, it would help save us the ridiculous arguments about a "veto proof majority" since Ben Nelson is really just a Republican with a "D" next to his dame. That said I grew up on the Iowa side of the Omaha media market, reading the Omaha Weird Harold and listening to Omaha radio and TV stations. Nebraska is a strange place and probably the best the Democratic Party can hope for is a Ben Nelson.
