The running mate for Democrat-turned-independent candidate Tim Cahill in the Massachusetts governor's race has defected to Republican Charles Baker's campaign today.
State Rep. Paul Loscocco (R) dropped out as Cahill's choice for lieutenant governor today and endorsed Baker, First Read has learned. In a statement obtained by NBC News, Loscocco said he did not want to be part of a spoiler campaign.
"I cannot sit idly by as my friends and supporters cast their votes for my ticket, knowing that the best chance to defeat Governor Patrick is with Charlie Baker," Loscocco will say at a press conference later this morning. "I cannot and will not let my ego get in the way of doing what is right for Massachusetts. Charlie Baker has the experience that can help Massachusetts head in a new direction and I'm pleased to endorse him today. This election is an opportunity to put Massachusetts back on track towards economic recovery. I urge voters who want new leadership on Beacon Hill to join me in voting for Charlie Baker and Richard Tisei on Election Day." (Full statement after the jump.)
This is welcome news for the Republican Governors Association, which has spent more than $1 million in ads against Cahill, the state treasurer. Baker is seen as having a better shot against incumbent Deval Patrick in a head-to-head campaign.
"This takes away all Cahill's ability to attract center-right voters," a GOP operative involved in the race believes. "Now Cahill and Patrick are left to fight over center-left voters and the unions. It shows this is a two-person race and Baker has all the momentum."
FULL LOSCOCCO STATEMENT:
Boston - Today Lt. Governor candidate Paul Loscocco announced that he is withdrawing his candidacy on the Independent ticket and is endorsing Charlie Baker for Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. A press availability will be announced later in the morning.
Partial excerpts of his remarks that will be delivered at the press availability are as follows:
I ran to have a spirited debate on the issues and to advocate for new ways to create jobs, lower taxes, protect personal freedoms, and fight for the principles of Ronald Reagan who inspired me to become a Republican as a young man.The primary between the Independent ticket and Republican ticket in the hearts and minds of the voters who want a change from Governor Patrick is now over. Charlie Baker and Richard Tisei have prevailed over Tim Cahill and me.
I cannot sit idly by as my friends and supporters cast their votes for my ticket, knowing that the best chance to defeat Governor Patrick is with Charlie Baker. I cannot and will not let my ego get in the way of doing what is right for Massachusetts. So while this is a tough decision for me today personally, it is the right decision to put the future of our state ahead of my own self-interest.
Charlie Baker has the experience that can help Massachusetts head in a new direction and I'm pleased to endorse him today.
This election is an opportunity to put Massachusetts back on track towards economic recovery. I urge voters who want new leadership on Beacon Hill to join me in voting for Charlie Baker and Richard Tisei on Election Day.

If there is one election I want to see stay "D", it is this one. Governor Patrick is such a good man. He's mature. He's a reformer. He's intelligent. He's got a tremendous amount of dignity.
It would be a pity if he lost. A real pity. I hope President Obama comes here to help him. I really do. Losing Governor Patrick would be a huge loss in this day and age of scheming candidates who have done nothing to warrant their victories.
Not to mention putting his name on everything, like road construction signs. That really helps the state.
Time for a real change, I just wish independants stood a chance in elections. It's sad no one votes for what the person stands for, but only for that R or D next to a name.
Capn, apparently you don't travel much and in this economy, I can't say I blame you, but you should know that pretty much all governors have signs at road construction sites, touting their "accomplishments": even GOP ones who denounced Obama's Stimulus and then brought out big fake checks with their names on it, pretending they are the ones giving out the money for projects...
I agree that we need more independent influences, but frankly, the Democrats are the ones setting this country right. Go Patrick!
The Democrats are setting the country right? Hahaha, that's a good one. Bankrupting the future of the country is hardly the right course. Not only have the Democrats held the purse strings with a congressional majority for the last 8 years, but all the most liberal states are having the biggest problems with budgets. Look at the collapse that is beginning in socialist Europe and that's what the Democrats have in store for us. It's not that Republicans are any better as people, but at least there is some element within the party that understands that the massive and rapid expansion of the government is not good for anyone in the long term.
Btberry:
Don't buy into the campaign slogans. Most of the biggest expansions of our government came from Republican leads. The biggest in this countries history ever is Homeland Security. Repulicans like to put on their campaign face and say they want to limit government, reduce government oversight, and cut spending. But look at the reality of it, some of the largest expansions of government power have come from the Republican side of things, and our single biggest budget-busting expense is the massively overgrown defense budget which has increased with every Republican-controlled administration in the past 70 years.
I'm not arguing that the Democrats have the answers or can fix things (although i do believe they are closer to the right answer than the Republicans, I'm entitled to my opinion). But I do argue that the Republicans might have a clue. They are just playing to America's ignorance and anger right now, and that is a very effective way of getting the job. But they have no answers.
As for bankrupting the future of the country, I view the tax breaks on the uber rich and deregulation of all business to be far more detrimental to our future. You can insist all you wish that the stimulas plan is going to ruin us all, and you could be right. But we won't really know for any length of time. I can look around right now and see the results of deregulation, and I can't see any benefit of the rich getting richer. Last I heard, Wall street called the recession over. Businesses are fine then, so we are all good right? I'll let you know as soon as I find a job in Iraq.
Pat:
With all that going against him, how can he possibly win? Candidates who are several sandwiches short of a picnic like Paladino in New York are in vogue these days.
Pat, I think the other candidate would like for Obama to come and campaign for Patrick as well.
I cant wait for Deval to be beaten this November. We all know the only reason Cahill is running is to take away votes from Charlie Baker. If there wasn't a Cahill - Patrick would be toast. Please tell me all the good things Governor Patrick has done. I'm still waiing for lower property taxes he promised.
Not sure Obama can help anyone at this point - even his own staff is running for the hills.
btberry-
A little fact checking before you post please.
You said- "Not only have the Democrats held the purse strings with a congressional majority for the last 8 years,..." Perhaps you can explain how you found that info given that Democrats only controlled both houses of congress beginning in Jan 2007 and even then we had a republican president until Jan 2009. At best, you can only say that Dems are responsible for what has happened since Jan 2009. Sorry this doesn't comport with the Republican "they did it even though WE were in control" mantra but the facts are the facts.
Also, you said- "all the most liberal states are having the biggest problems with budgets." I'd refer you to the VERY red state I live in (Arizona) and simply ask you to compare our problems here with the very liberal state of Mass. and tell me whose problems are worse. I'll give you a hint...the state with the worst financial problems begins with the same letter as the alphabet. I can provide further clues if needed.
Republicans really need to fabricate a new story. The old liberal spending vs. conservative fiscal responsibiltiy just isn't true anymore. The Bush years alone prove that but it was going on even before then. Reagan exploded the deficit and when Bush 1 did the honorable thing and tried to fix it by raising taxes to cover America's bills, the GOP vilified him. GOP=Deficit spending and "let the people eat turnips" thinking. Heaven forbid that the rich in this country give something substantial back to the poor and needy. Shades of Socialism [insert aghast face here].
Don you are correct. Unfortunately, btberry and the rest prefer to rewrite history to fit their own warped agenda. I can't figure out where they get their information.
I hope Patrick loses.
Good Morning Pat,
I like Governor Deval Patrick too. Being a south sider from a Chicago housing project, he has proved that all poor people are not lazy and unambitious. I really liked it when the right wing went crazy accusing the President of plagiarizing Governor Patrick and he defended the President. As a matter of fact, President Obama was poor too; and grew up to become the leader of the free world.
I'm waiting for a tune from you today they so uplifiting and befitting. Surprise me; if you have time.
Hi Beverly, I will do my best. Music. I can't live without it. My radio on my computer is going all day.
Keeping my fingers crossed with Gov. Patrick. I'll be devastated if he loses.
Me too Pat. I hope he wins. The GOP/TP is just to outside the realm of reality for me.
I like Hendricks and the doors
Obama was poor?
His mother was a college professor
Obama was hardly poor.
in fact was very middle class if not UPPER middle class the fact so many ASSUME he was poor because he is Black is rather racist
Beverly in Chicago.
In fact OBAMA so "Poor" he attended Punahou School which is a Private prep school in Oahu known as the "University of Oahu" with a current Tuition of $17,000 a school year
Amazes me all you Obama Cult members no so little about the "chosen one" that you would think he "grew up poor"

Obama was hardly poor.
in fact was very middle class if not UPPER middle class the fact so many ASSUME he was poor because he is Black is rather racist
Are you ASSUMing?
All Black people are not poor! There's Oprah, Condoleezza Rice, American businessman Bob Johnson, Bill Cosby, Colin Powell, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, PBS talk show host Tavis Smiley amongst many well educated upwardly mobile Blacks first exposed during the Clarence thomas confirmation hearings.
I said the President grew up in a poor environment.
Beveral you said this
SO you cite Governor Deval Patrick growing up poor then you say " As a matter of Fact, President Obaam was poor too"
You said " Obama Grew up poor too"
your were wrong now your mistating what your originally said..
The honest and mature thing to do would be to just admit you didnt know OBAMA grew up upper middle class and move along
WHile the dishonest and immature thing is to do is to continue to denie what you originally said...
Your choice..

Her's a little trivia challenge for you:
Mini Biography
Barack Obama was born to a white American mother, Ann Dunham, and a black Kenyan father, Barack Obama Sr., who were both young college students at the University of Hawaii. When his father left for Harvard, she and Barack stayed behind, and his father ultimately returned alone to Kenya, where he worked as a government economist. Barack's mother remarried an Indonesian oil manager and moved to Jakarta when Barack was six. He later recounted Indonesia as simultaneously lush and a harrowing exposure to tropical poverty. He returned to Hawaii, where he was brought up largely by his grandparents. The family lived in a small apartment - his grandfather was a furniture salesman and an unsuccessful insurance agent and his grandmother worked in a bank - but Barack managed to get into Punahou School, Hawaii's top prep academy. His father wrote to him regularly but, though he traveled around the world on official business for Kenya, he visited only once, when Barack was ten.
S. Ann Dunham Soetoro(the President's mother)
When her son was almost 2, Ann returned to college. Money was tight. She collected food stamps and relied on her parents to help take care of young Barack

I support Governor Patrick as well. He has been such a wonderful supporter of public education and public higher ed. Education in particular will take a huge hit if Baker were to get elected.
President Obama grew up like most of us. If he got into a private school it was because his family CHOOSE to sacrifice for his education. He won scholarships and showed his ability to stand out early on in life.
Most of us would admire this record. The naysayers should be ashamed of themselves.
Obama did not grow up poor
Like I said he was middle class or upper middle class..
niteowleet
I already PUNKED you once today and you come back for more
You ran from the other conversation...now you will run to the next
Just read the mini bio for Obama a couple of posts up. I don't see how that is described as an upper middle class upbringing. He did grow up, get an education, and join the upper middle class. Is that what you mean?
Not sure what state you people actually live in.... but all Gov. Patrick has done is put our family into the poor house. With his constantly raising taxes on all of us I now have gone from being a part of the middle class to being considered at the poverty level. We have to do much better than this. This is not a democrat or republican thing... it's an American thing. Romney didn't help either, forcing everyone to have healthcare. We need someone that is going to help the people of Massachusetts be able to prosper, Gov. Patrick is not doing this at all. Unless things change soon in this state...people are going to start leaving in droves to a state where there are jobs and we aren't taxed to death. I moved to Massachusetts from the midwest, thinking this would such a great place for my family. Unless things change soon we may have to leave the state. Many of my friends are feeling like they have to leave the state as well if there is no improvement.
Thanks Debi for setting the record straight. I didnt except anything differnet from Pat the Massachusetts Moonbat!
Beverly: I don't know enough about Patrick to judge. I'll have to read up on him. However, Your statement that Obama grew up poor is a bit of a strech. The man lived in Hawaii, attended Columbia Univ. and Harvard. Traveled extensively when he was a student and you call that poor. Spin all you want but to us average folks that's a pretty priviledged life-style.

It's not spin. It's factual. His mom lived on food stamps and he had government loans and grants to attend college.
You know Hawaii sounds exotic to you; but, it was not a lavish lifestyle for the President. President Obama couldn't even afford surf board as child. Remember those pictures of the President body surfing while on vacation
Jimbo--
Privileged because he went to Columbia and Harvard? What's coming next, that he is "elitist" for being educated at two of America's top universities? Ever heard of student loans, grants, college work study, scholarships and school matchings which constitute a financial aid package? What, Hawaii doesn't have poor people just because its tropical and is more prone to a beach lifestyle? Hell, Obama had to write two damn books to pay off his school loans just before launching his senate/presidential campaign. Ever see the picture with his leg propped up on his desk with holes in the bottom of his shoes? He may not have been poor as poor is defined by the federal government but he was nowhere near being privileged. Unless of course you and the baggers are privy to some top secret evidence that suggests he is the "blacksheep" son-of-a-Bush that had been locked away in the Kennebunkport tower for years! Now that I think about it, where is my bagga' decoder ring? Had it here somewhere...
Mad, none of you have seen anything concerning Obama's education at Columbia and Harvard, except what he has stated. Remember he refuses to release any of his school records, essays, or any other aspects of loans, grants, etc. The person that did hack into his student loan file is now in jail for doing so. The news media did a very poor job of vetting President Obama. The main reasons that the MSM refused to vet him was two fold, one they did everything to get him elected because he is very liberal, and second, they were afraid they might be called racist. I like to call the news media "gutless".
Okay Sfcret--
If you went to a school of any repute (assuming you even went to school) you would know that schools like Columbia and Harvard don't stand pat and allow a lie to perpetuate about an academic record at their school especially if that someone is, oh, a public figure like, um, the president of the US! Last I checked, hacking, you know the equivalent of breaking and entering, is a crime that is punishable. Has nothing to do with the victim or "hackee". I don't hear you complaining about the hacker that got into Simple Sarah's email account during the campaign who has since been tried, found guilty and sentenced. Call the media "gutless" if you will. I'll just call you "stupid".
Mad, so all you can do is call someone that disagrees with you "stupid". I will put my education up against yours anytime. I also noticed you didn't answer my questions or comment on why Obama had his records sealed and refuses to release them. Show me one article he wrote for the Harvard Law School? Show me a transcript to show what classes he took? The only one that is "stupid" is you.
Sfcret
Mad, none of you have seen anything concerning Obama's education at Columbia and Harvard, except what he has stated
I've seen:
* he the president of the Harvard Law Review.
*graduated with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) magna cum laude
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama
You do know in order to graduate law school you'd have to do undergraduate study?
btw: how many degrees does the lunatic Cristine O'Donnell accomplish?
Back to name calling huh? What does she have to do with this conversation? Obama may or may not have all the degrees he has said he has, but that doesn't make him smart.
Obama actually grew up so poor he didn't even know what money was until Biden told him. He also walks on water. The fact that he cannot balance payments in with payments out is irrelevant. We worship him because he is the great and glorious unifier of the world. Don't let facts get in the way. The end.
Sarcasm is something you know. Anything else?
Maybe if you lived the college experience you would know that scholarships pay for those sorts of things.
His mother at one time collecting FOOD STAMPS does not prove he grew up poor..
Its like saying onetime RUSH LIMBAUGH declared bankruptcy, which he did, so he is poor..
OBAMA was solidly middle class who LIVED With his GRANDPARENTS because his mother was a COLLEGE PROFESOR who spent much of her time over seas..
How do we know this? because OBAMA says so in his book...
OBAMA attended a PRIVATE PREP school in OAHU...
the fact his family made sacrifices, to afford OBAMAS PRIVATE PREP SCHOOL does not make them poor..
lots of MIDDLE CLASS and UPPER MIDDLE CLASS families make sacrificies to pay for their kids PRIVATE schools..
I have a buddy who sold his BOAT to pay for his sons YEAR of private school and foot ball camps and ne next year he will figure something else out to pay for his kids school.
I have lots of budides that when they get married they give up the toys (motor cycles, boats, jet ski's, foot ball season tickets) to provide for their new famiies
Making a sacrifice for your family does not make a person "poor" and does make the family poor.
geez.
THE DEPTHS and lenghts OBAMA cult members go to to try and prove t
OBAMA did not grow up poor..
bottom line
haivng college loans does not make a person poor..
using grants to pay for college does not make a person poor..
THE BS and just flat out STUPIDITY OBAMA cult members spread and need to believe to justifty supporting the most UNQUALIFIED president of my life time is rather amazing..
OBAMA SO SMART
he sat in reverand wrights church for 20 years...but some how didn't know Reverend Wrights philosophy or theology..
20 years and OBAMA didnt catch on...
he is either stupid or lying.....which is it?
Beverly, I know you are from Chicago so I will excuse you for your lack of knowledge about someone you voted for and support. However, you have not answered by questions, what articles did he write for the Harvard Law Review (besides an unsigned opinion on the defense of abortion)? What was his academic standing upon graduation, and what was any of his term papers about, since when asked he couldn't remember. In fact he could remember very little about his higher education at Columbia and Harvard. He refuses to release his college records, and what was his undergraduate studies. I don't think I am asking to much to ask that he produce the records that other presidential candidates have proved.
Obama is not stupid, I would go with lying.
Bev,
You surf board comment had me laughing on that you don't have a clue. It's called boogie boarding and people do it if they can't surf, not because they're poor. I lived there for 2 years, but what do I know.
Yeah, I've seen the school he went to and he wasn't poor not matter what you say. Post a creditable link stated that he was.............have you ever been to Hawaii? There's a good reason why he went to that school.
"You know Hawaii sounds exotic to you; but, it was not a lavish lifestyle for the President. President Obama couldn't even afford surf board as child. Remember those pictures of the President body surfing while on vacation"
Paul-Florida
"You know Hawaii sounds exotic to you; but, it was not a lavish lifestyle for the President. President Obama couldn't even afford surf board as child. Remember those pictures of the President body surfing while on vacation"
And information to you sounds like a typical right-wing TB and a TB candidate. In other words it doesn't matter even when it's true. Up is down and down is up when you're stupid.
Ay Jorge, por favor! Tu tambien? Que tanta mierda tu dices. Pues, cuidate! La gente Republicana en esa pagina o el pueblito tuyo no le gustan latinos. Sabe? El unico uso para ti es algo mas differente! Que cabron!
Debi: Mass. & Hawaii are perfect examples of what forced healthcare can do. Hawaii was different in the sense it only affected children. But, it only lasted about 7 months and went bankrupt. The people there dropped their kids from their insurance policy and told the state if you are going to force me to pay for someone else you can pay for mine. Not a good outcome. You already know from personal experience it did not work in Mass. Why people think it will work over the whole US is beyond me.
I don't know about Mass., but your statements about health care in Hawaii are erroneous.
You are correct. I'm from Hawaii. Jim's statement is false! Quest still exists for kids and adults! Aloha!
Big deal!! He jumped from on conservative camp to another.
I've lived in Western Massachusetts all my life. At least Governor Patrick knows that the state's western boundary is not at Worcester. For once we feel as if our Govenor is paying attention to the entire state instead of only the Boston area and surroundings. He's been to our area many times, talking with and listening to city and town officials as well as regular citizens. We're a lot better off than we've been in years. And I'm not rich...I'm just an average working person who grew up in real poverty.
Romney was a joke. There's no comparison between running the Olympics and governing an entire commonwealth, but those who elected him found out quickly enough. I cringe at the thought of him running for President. Now that's scary!
I also live in western MA. Patrick has not helped me at all. I live paycheck to paycheck and my paycheck keeps getting smaller because of health insurance and taxes while he pays illegal aliens tax money that could benefit the elderly, schools, roads and people with disabilities. Has the ballotts printed in foreign languages for people that don't want to learn the language. Thanks for wasting money that could be better spent Duval.
Little Guy,
Times are tough and we look for people to blame. It's easy to blame the least among us, but not accurate. Your attack on illegal aliens and those who can't afford insurance (would you be among the second group, since you're living paycheck to paycheck?) are hardly at fault for the Republican policies of the last 30 years that have the country in such a mess. Perhaps if the GOP hadn't stripped the middle class, you would find your paychecks more than adequate...
Including citizens who know other languages in the democratic process is hardly expensive, and last I checked there was no "the language" certified by our Government, OF THE PEOPLE. That would be all of the people, not just the ones who have your cultural background.
Jimmy,
Times are tough. It was much better for me under the republicans watch. I'm not saying that they are the best - just better than what we have now (IMO). I don't like the idea that my tax dollars are going to support illegal activity - free healthcare, housing, food and spending money. One of the requirements to be a citizen are that you can read and speak basic English. If we are going to have road signs printed in 26 languages it is going to be very confusing to drive on the highways.
Little Guy, your plight is the same through out this country. If the Republican party is better, how did we end up where we are today? We will never have, what you call, free health care. We will instead have an opportunity to be able to get health care. I want health care coverage. However, because if had cancer twice, the insurance companies won't give me any. I've been cancer free for 3 years. Tough for me. Once this "free health care" becomes law, they won't be able to deny me coverage. I will also pay for the coverage I want. I lost my job Sept 26, 2008. After 10 years I was out on the street. Being over 50, I can't find a job. I worked hard in my job. However, because I was a higher paid person in my department, I got laid off.
Do not tell me this president is going to ruin this country. He is the first president who have actually given a rats ass about everyone in this country. Republicans are determined to destroy everything this president has accomplished. They are the elite in this country and will do anything to keep the rest of us as far down as we will let them.
Time to stop talking nonsense and read some objective information about where this country is and, more importantly, how we got here. I am absolutely disgusted with the hateful talk by the Republican party. They just threaten us everyday. Wake the hell up.
HAHAHAHA
rats leaving a sinking @!$%#
I lived in Mass for 2 years and couldn't believe how socialized the state was. The Mass turnpike is the major highway in the state and you have to pay to use it, they charge an excise tax on your car every year (which for me was about $300), you can't park in Boston without it costing an arm and a leg (most people who live downtown can't afford parking so they don't have a car), if you're caught speeding (I was going 70 in a 55) count on at least a $500 fine, most of the people I knew had a full time job, a night part time job and most did something on the weekend to earn extra money, if you are poor, you can count on housing, food, free health care and other benefits from the state paid for by oppressive taxes. It's a shame because it is a beautiful state with a ton of history but I can guarantee our forefathers are rolling in their graves at the way liberals have socialized the state.
Hey Stevie--
"...liberals have socialized the state."
So Republican administrations including Romney's couldn't do anything to "desocialize" it? Could it also be that Romney's so-called "socialist" healthcare plan contributed to MA's socialism? Do you even know the meaning of the word "socialism" or is it just naturally regurgitated from the Beckian lobe of your brain? Unless you have lived in CT (where even the air is taxed) or NY you have/had no reason to complain. I sympathize with people who have to cross the Verrazano or GW Bridge everyday and literally pay the equivalent of a month's rent to park in NYC before I listen to you whine about MA's so-called "socialism". You got a problem with "socialist" East coast states? Move to Montana!
i agree.
And here in Conservative Texas, dang near EVERY major highway project is now being done as toll roads, thanks to our Conservative Republican Governor Rick Perry -- who tried his best to institute an enormous eminent-domain grab AND massive toll project called the Trans-Texas Corridor, on top of selling out dang near every existing Interstate highway that he could to Spain-based CINTRA. We USED to own our roads. Not anymore, thanks to Slick Rick.
Gas tax money? Perry's derailed that money, dumped it into the general budget to cover his OTHER mis-management, so we get taxed twice... once at the pump, and again every time we drive the Perry Thru-Ways. Makes me wonder how much $$ is getting diverted straight into Perry's pocket.
Yet the right-wing yahoos in this state will elect this guy again. Why? Because he's a Republican and that's the only thing that matters.
Patrick has been a disaster. I want a governor who does not view the first amendment as an inconvenience.
Jorge-2191028
Beverly in Chicago.
In fact OBAMA so "Poor" he attended Punahou School which is a Private prep school in Oahu known as the "University of Oahu" with a current Tuition of $17,000 a school year
Amazes me all you Obama Cult members no so little about the "chosen one" that you would think he "grew up poor"
You are the reason education is needed. Voters are not "cult members" and elections choose leaders. I might let you off the hook there, providing of course, you don't think it was a "divine intervention".
FYI: As a community organizer on Chicago's south side the President didn't even make $15,000 .
Oh, btw you can google about loans and grants for education instead of coloring a picture that just isn't true. I guess if you can read it. Now that would be fair; wouldn't it?
It's no wonder voters in Massachusetts are going to repeal the Liquor Tax come November....need to stay drunk cheaper in such a wacky state....and please, don't send Barney Frank back to screw-up the economy any more than he already has....Thank-you....The rest of America....
Nice, Mike. You really think you speak for "the rest of America"?
I would challenge you to look into the Republican policies of the last 30 years that have served their corporate masters and all but eliminated the middle class. You are right to be upset, but you're blaming a person in Barney Frank who has served to help Americans against the politicians you should be mad at.
Can not believe the people who defend Barney Frank. Please google the man and look at his pats. One of his past lovers ran a whore house out of his house and he claim he knew nothing about it. Last summer he was in the paper again for his current boyfriend growing pot at his house in Maine again he know nothing about it. But his voters in Cambridge keep voting for this loser. Only in Massachusetts and California can a loser like this keep his seat in Congress. Let's not forget about fannie and freddie Barney's biggest disaster. Massachusetts isnt called Taxachusetts for nothing. I live here and the only reason I'm still here is I'm having a hard time to sell my house once its sold I'm gone from this moombat state.
Wait, paying for everything you do is less socialistic than having the government do it without charging those who use the service. Once the government starts making you pay for a service it is one step away from privatizing the service. That would be real socialism, oops, capitalism.
We the people who voted for Democrats in the last general election have now come to understand the bitterness that Republican supporters and their elected representatives had for losing the elections to Democrats. These people became very bitter when the Democrats, to their surprise, won the elections with landslide and with the person they believed would never win the presidency as the president. Even up to the very last day, republicans still hoped that they would win.
We the people who voted for the Democrats watched and listened to Republicans speak angrily during the campaigns about the Democrats' presidential candidate. They used all kinds of lies and propaganda to make voters turn against him but these tactics never worked in their favor. They called him names and even maintained that he was not an American citizen and that he was Muslim. As many people can recall, a number of republicans stated openly that they would never recognize this president as their president or the president of the United States of America. When has it ever happened here in America that an American president who has been duly and democratically elected by the majority of American voters is never recognized by a section of American people or supporters of the losing party as being the president of USA.
When a number of Republican supporters publicly declared that they would never recognize this president as their president or president of the USA, they were not just joking but they meant business. It is very clear to the majority of Democrat supporters that these same Republicans never realized that the general elections were over. To them, the campaigns would still be on until they confirm that it is them that have won. Their (Republican) Radio and TV talk show hosts have continued to campaign against the Democrats and the president as if they are not Democratically elected leaders. They have repeatedly stated that the president is not their president and they have no respect for him as the president of the USA. They have a strategy of making the president angry by spreading false information about all that the president and the Democrats are trying to do to fix the mess that they left behind. Anytime the president says something, these individuals will try to distort it and trivialize it to make it look bad. Because they know that there is freedom of speech in this country, they take advantage of that freedom to talk back at the president.
This president has never rested since he took over the leadership of this country because he and the rest of the Democrat leaders realized how much they had to do to bring this country back from the brink of total economic collapse. They inherited an economy that was falling off the cliff with thousands of jobs being lost at a rate higher than any level that had ever been experienced in the recent past. People were losing their homes at a very high rate and consumer price index had gone way above the roof, Businesses were closing down at a high rate including big banks and Corporations such as General motors and Chrysler that were at the verge of total collapse. The Democrats under the able leadership of their president had to take very drastic actions of saving these big banks and corporations in what turned out to be known as bail outs. The Democrats, at a time when their counterparts (Republicans) decided to sit at the fence bailed out the big banks, General motors and Chrysler among other big corporations and ended up in saving millions of jobs.
The country's foreign or international glory was completely gone with foreign countries and their citizens hating America to a level that had never been seen before. The former Republican president was never welcomed in any part of the world including UK, being one of America's closest allies and the rest of Europe. The former Republican president could never even address a public rally in any part of Europe including London of all the places. European leaders would never tell their people the routes George Bush would use while in Europe because demonstrators would block those routes and pelt George Bush motorcade with stones. They had to make sure that they hide him away from the public. It was very shameful and embarrassing to American people.
Thanks to this President for restoring America's foreign glory.
Sam, very nice post. I particularly agree with your point regarding the effort put forth by Republican supporters to discredit the President with propaganda, lies, and public declarations that they would never recognize this president as their president. It sickens me to see the total lack of civilty or respect shown. On a brighter note, I saw for the first time on my way home from work yesterday, an "Obama/ Biden 2012" bumpersticker. Put a smile on my face.
#1... Sam, you're an idiot ... #2, this is not a "defection", this is an "infiltration". I hope I'm wrong, but I understand the lengths liberal politicts will stoop to to gain an edge.
Oh why not reelect a man who is partially to blame for the 1 Billion dollar deficit. The others to blame are the Demrats.

Because Americans don't want to continually be tricked.
Sam-499819,
restoring America's foreign glory?
OMG this is some funny stuff!
Can't wait till Nov. 2nd!
Barney " Boom Boom " Frank
He's a real prize....
Well the fact is patrick lied. where are the real estate tax cuts? just like all these nitwits. they say what you want to hear and you all vote for them... such lemming. then when they come up for reelection. you all complain and yet again vote for them again... like something is going to change. you can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results. I am just looking for someone who has a ounce of common sense, and i am not having any luck. We shall all see.
I will be happy to see caddillac duval and the rest of his liberal cronies looking for work elsewhere. The cost of my health insurance has gone from 800 to 1200 per month this past year alone.I am self employed therefore I am paying for my own.No sweetheart public sector or union insurance plan.Throw obamas faux reform plan on top of this and it will someday come to my mortgage or my health insurance. If thats progressive then Im out. Also I wonder why the state always threatens to cut teachers first?
The article had nothing to do with national politics, but as usual it generates down to a trashing of the Obama administration. Well Sam is right, could you imagine George Bush riding in a motorcade anywhere but America? I certainly couldn't and quite frankly I'm glad he didn't, we lost enough presidents that way. I'm disappointed in both partys for different reasons. The GOP for their total obstructionist policies and the Dem's for not going public and holding the GOP's feet to the fire.
I've said this before, our goverment is broken and doesn't represent any human being, oh wait the Supreme Court gave coorporations the same status and rights that I have. I stand corrected.
Yes Obama was a poor boy...but how did he get rich...that's what bothers me...who put him up to run for presiden...no the democrates are not the answer to the problem...they are the problem!
It bothers you that he wrote two best selling books? I thought you guys liked people who pull themselves up by their boot straps? Or only if they are not Democrats?
Sounds like a politician that can see which way the wind is blowing...smart man.
probably Bush's fault
I'm not from that area, and the story makes little sense to me. Please give it some context next time.
Bt berry's statement regarding the Democratic majority in Congress for the past 8 years seems to have escaped notice. I will assume the best possible scenario and just attribute it to being misinformed. The facts of course are different. The Republicans had a majority in Congress beginning in 1995 (after the '94 election) and only ending in 2007, after the 2006 election. Even after they lost the Congress, they still had a White House that could veto any legislature, or just simply issue a signing statement and ignore the law.
