Why is it that Meg Whitman when faced with an Illegal Immigrant who used counterfeit documents a criminal offence on both counts just kicked the can down the road and allowed this person back into the community to break the law again.

I'm afraid I can't compete with the level of discord on this posting.....can't get that low. The issues to most of those who post here are narrow....basically my way or the highway. I think in terms of what's good for the US...not what's good for one political ideology or another. I am willing and able to DISCUSS anything with you. Your point of view deserves as much exposure as my point of view. The issue is the word ARGUMENT. With the usage of the word ARGUMENT, there is no discussion; only the airing of one's views - views that may or may not have validity. In an open dialog, the only way to reach a level of compromise is to listen to both sides. IF one side continues to preach the gosple according to a strictly regimented party line there will be no real meaningful discussion because that individual (or group) just parrots the words of SOMEONE ELSE. If you believe you are unable to think as an independent, you are not speaking for yourself - you are a puppet. I prefer to listen and discuss. No, I am not some milk-toast moderate I have very strong political views BASED UPON due diligence. When you get a little older, you will understand that one's personal point of view changes as the life cycle ages.

Has anyone, except Allred, actually seen the document, letter dated Apr 22, 03, she says was sent by the SSA to the Whitmans? According to the SSA, the SSA did not send out employer letters unless they had 10 or more employees. Has anyone tired to verify how many personal domestic workers the Whitmans had in 2003? Haven't seen anything but accusations. I personally wouldn't trust Gloria Allred as far as I could throw her. BTW, most of the posts concerning this matter are from people outside of California and people who can't vote in California or those that wasn't going to vote for Meg in the first place.

Just because someone has the money to pay twice any rate, doesn't mean he/she should do so. In fact, it means the person is a damn fool if they do as you suggest. As you obviously have no clue and, therefore, will never achieve much success, let me explain something to you. The "rich" do not get that way by being careless with their money. Don't get me wrong, I'm not rich by any means but I do understand what it takes to get there and I am trying to work towards that goal. This illegal alien was making within a single dollar of what I make, just to clean a house and do some babysitting apparently! She was WELL paid! Meanwhile, I have a college degree and additional training and if I fail in one of my responsibilities, it would shut down production for a company with over $100 million/yr in sales. For nine years this woman has been employed at her household, a close friend of the family (according to Whitman herself) and she never had one conversation with this woman? Give me a break. $23 an hour sounds like a lot if you live in Michigan but the cost of living is very high in California and it would be equivilant to you earning $10 an hour in Detroit. That maid was living in poverty because it is really expensive to live in the big cities in CA.
Go to the Home Depot in Encinitas CA and all the illegals (at least 100 of them daily) there want $15.00 an hour minimum plus lunch and door to door transportation. If you don't comply, they laugh at you and call you names in spanish. I will not shop at that Home Depot in Encinitas for that reason, I drive an extra 15 miles to Lowes where the problem does not exist.
$23.00 an hour computes to $44,160 a year, Wow that is much more than the average US income, and this is a story about how a poor little Illegal Imigrant was used and abused. Give me a break !!!!!!!!!

mel2877, would you consider the Whitman household as poor? The maid was a live-in with free room and free food. The $23/hour includes the income taxes and payroll taxes the maid is responsible for paying on all her 1099 earnings. So the "take home" hourly wage would be more like $17/hour; but we know Mrs. Illegal Immigrant Maid didn't pay a penny in taxes, so the wage was actually $23/hr.
