Louisiana Sen. David Vitter’s Democratic challenger is reminding voters of the Republican lawmaker’s 2007 prostitution scandal in a new 2-minute mini-documentary ad.
The campaign of Rep. Charlie Melancon, who has trailed the incumbent Republican by double digits in recent polls, is airing an abridged version of a five-minute web video - released earlier this summer by the Louisiana Democratic Party – that includes a reenactment of Vitter’s encounter with a New Orleans prostitute. The 2-minute excerpt samples the most vivid parts of the longer production, including audiotape of a former prostitute detailing her sexual relationship with Vitter. The ad is expected to begin running on cable stations in the state.
NBC News rates this race “Lean Republican.”

HA HA HA! I LOVE IT!
Nothing spells hypocrisy better than a so-called family values Christian who frequents hookers!
Let's not forget David's penchant for Pampers
LMAO!
Nice Post - Fiesty. Been looking for you guys.
Ummm... okay... and that would be why?
Erections have consequences!
Excellent Forrest, just excellent! I could not have said it better myself (and I voted).
Mr. Grump, if I could 'fan' you like they do on HuffPo,...You would be FANNED!
Awesome comment!
What would you do if you were 15 points down with 4 weeks to go?
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2010/senate/la/louisiana_senate_vitter_vs_melancon-1095.html
Don't bore us with the facts, dangerfield.
Got any shiny objects?
Before I forget...
Pollster.com's average has Vitter up over Melancon 51.1% to 36.3%.
A poor last, ditch effort by Charlie Melancon. He's down 14 points with 4 weeks to go. Not looking good for Charlie, not at all. Charlie is just a wannabe. I'm in Charalie's district. He has the mark of the "D" beside his name on a ballot. He's not getting my vote.
dangerfield

Nice try; but your polls mean just about as much as a load in Vitter's diaper.
Dangerfield
Vitter is no better than Gingrich w/ his whoel "Family Values" crap he's been spewing. Since when did "Family Values" include bedding hookers? His opponent should point this out, because it things we're reverse, I have no doubt Vitter would.
Vitter is more of the same Repub hyprocisy, "do as I say, not as I do"
Were the prostitutes Tea Party supporters? Did Vitter drink tea with the prostitutes? Did a common term used to describe Tea Party supporters by opponents of Tea Party become a physical reality during these encounters?
What a joke!
Charles, rumor is he was with Obama using cocaine, which Obama, in his book, admits to using before.
I find it some what funny that some republicans thought the last NY governor was @!$%# and it was OK for him to be forced out because he visited prostitutes but it is some how ok for there guy to do it.
Gary, don't you mean with Bush 43 who was actually caught and admitted to a problem with it? I mean, do you really think Vitter would have hung out with President Obama?
Matthew, Houston, TX
Arguing w/ someone who pulls fact out of his a$$ is futile. He doesn't answer questions, just give his ridulous talking points from Faux News. But facts are facts, Vitter is a hypocrite who runs on a family value platform while bedding hookers. I just hope his wife got check out.
Yep, all's fair in love, war, and politics. My only question to Charlie Melancon is, Why did you wait so long?
Louisiana: You have had a lot of wind, rain, and oil. And you have had to do a lot of clean up lately. Don't you think it's time to clean up that senate seat?
Forrest -- Funniest line of the week!
John:
I agree, Forrest does have the funniest line of the week.
Ron, the clean up will be when we get rid of the recipient of Harry Reid's Louisiana Purchase, Mary Landreau.
Harry Reid and Mary Landreau didn't break the law. Your people will defend any criminal because he's a Republican. I'm sure you are a family values man yourself.. figures...
Marie, you are right. Harry didn't break the law by using hundreds of millions of tax payer dollars to buy Mary Landreau's vote for Obama care. He just used our tax dollars to bribe an official so she can get political points in her state for her next re election bid. But, it was all legal.
Ron Indiana

A very intelligent Post Ron; I just hope those in the Big Easy and the Bayou State realize it. Some how I do thing they get it.
Louisiana: You have had a lot of wind, rain, and oil. And you have had to do a lot of clean up lately. Don't you think it's time to clean up that senate seat?
We will, beginning with Mary Landreau.

Answer the question. Is sleepining w/ hookers a family value? Vitter's a hypocrite expousing this "Family Values" crap while bedding hookers. If you think bedding hookers is "family value", I see how your values work as well. Your better than he is and just as much as a hypocrite
By the way, why doesn't Charlie Melancon run on his voting record, on his achievements?
Gary-302710
Why don't you admit that Vitter's a hypocrite? Politics are all about love and war and in Vitters' case, a little too much love. Those poor hookers having to have sex w/ someone like that.
Burn!
How do the "family values" people rationalize their support for candidates like Vitter who behave the way that they do? I am really interested in hearing from some of you! Apparently, it is enough that he lectures others in his arrogant way, but he is exempt from following the rules that he sets for others? Gingrinch too. He has morphed into a Catholic, which claims to have rules about divorced people, but they turn a blind eye to Newt and his history as a divorced man who cannot be faithful to his vows? All of this does not exist as long as they look pontificate about the virtues of family life? I will be interested to read what some of you have to say about this. Surely even those of you with the most limited perspicacity must gag at the thought.
newdayDAWNING10
I will be interested to read what some of you have to say about this. Surely even those of you with the most limited perspicacity must gag at the thought.
I would love to see Louisianans vote Vitter and his immoral phony @$$ out.
Me too, Beverly, but I doubt it will happen. Funny what that side can ignore from one of their own.
NewdayDawning10
They will ignore any all evidence of their own immorality because it would kill them to actually take a look at their own hyprcrisy. "Do as I say, not as I do" is the Repub matra for decades and when this is brought to light, they do a Falwell and pretend to repent and ask forgiveness. They think that by doing this, its absolves them and history is wiped clean. Vitter will get voted in because unfortunately, the people in Louisiana are basically in shock because of Katrina and the spill. They can't really take anymore and need some sense of normalcy and unfortunately, that means putting Vitter back in w/ all of his hyprocisy.
I completely agree with you, Philip. But, I just don't know how they constantly rationalize the behavior.
He is another victim of the failed school system, "public service, serviced in public, whatever"
Forrest you are on a roll today! Keep up the good humor with the direct points. Anything that gives repugnants heart burn makes a happy day for me.
Thank You, nobody is getting out of this life alive, you have to laugh once in awhile.
Well, here's the thing...LA'ers may not like Vitter because of his scandals, but maybe they don't like his opponent even more.
In other words, reasonable Republicans in Louisiana are too lazy and apathetic to get out and support a better Republican candidate during primary season.
patHuntingtonNY
You have a point. for the people of Louisiana it comes down to the devil they know than the one they don't. But Vitter has done absolutely nothing for the people of Louisiana and has actually tried to hold up funds for rebuilding due to Katrina. How doe that help the people of the state?
Philip, Vitter has done well for the state, that's why he's been re elected before. Duh.
Let's see . . .
Vitter has voted against every bill that would have helped LA and been caught in what some people would call an immoral position that is at least hypocritical due to what he espouses as his morals. And Gary says Vitter is ahead because of what he has done for his state.
Let's see, block money desperately needed and embarrass your state. Yeah, Gary, those are real 'good things' he has done for LA. Says more about the voter than the votee.
I guess that 'Duh' was well said and very appropriate.
Matthew, Houston, TX
Thank you. Just shows what a dumba$$ our dear little Gary is.
Republicans love to point out the faults of others but take no responsibility for their own. Their convenient amnesia is stunning. Oh the hypocrisy. They love to tell others how to live their lives yet have no problem frequenting ladies of the evening. Or better yet, denouncing same sex relationships while they quietly have their own.
Normally I am no fan of attack ads, on either side, but with the convenient amnesia of the Republicans, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
It is about time voters are reminded of just what David Vitter represents. He represents the party of "Family Values" yet has no regard for his own family's values. Louisiana, time to vote for someone else and show Vitter to the door.
The only 'family values' the right holds has the words "In God We Trust" printed on 'em. And some numbers. The bigger the numbers, the more 'value' they hold for them.
Charlie is trialing by 14 percentage points. Kind of says it all right there.
About him or his supporters?
Vitter's policy-relevant hypocrisy is even worse than his "family values" hypocrisy. The guy wants tort reform so that frivolous lawsuits aren't filed, but then encourages people to file birther lawsuits against the federal government. He goes on and on about states' rights, but then says that state's shouldn't be able to determine whether they give funding for higher education to non-citizens. He went right along with the "death panels" BS. He said that members of Congress should be treated like everyone else by the health care bill, but then offered a resolution to require than members of Congress be treated unlike ANYONE else by the health care bill. Vitter is a pandering jerk who thrives on the ignorance of many of his supporters.
m gear - I totally understand the policy-relevant hypocrsy of the republicans, i serve on my county's election commission. When the repugnants came into power two years ago they became the majority in each county's election commission, they promptly fired the election administratior (without just cause) because she was not an active republican (I have no idea which party she voted for and she was very equal in her dealings with all). they got afraid of their action, hired an attorney (yep that ugly lawyer word) in case they got sued - which they did not (instead the former election administrator ran for a countywide office and won by a landslide - quite an angry vote). Now they want the taxpayers of my county to pay for that attorney who was hired to protect the 3 repugnants on the commission. Now that's real conservative spending right there isn't it? Hypocrite - thy name is repugnant!
Well I do understand when Mr. Vitter was in the state legislature,he was known as "Bitter Vitter". Too bad he didn't react the same way toward his own moral failings as he did to President Clinton for his immoral ways. Hyprocasy runs amok in LA. If Huey was still alive he would probably name a Bridge after Clinton and a Whore House after Vitter.
Maybe Jesus will smite him before the election.
Will Jesus bring the pork chops?
Hey- speaking of funnty stuff- who all saw O'Donnell (Lawrence, not ding-dong) interview Levi Johnson yesterday? I can't imagine how Larry was able to keep a straight face the whole time. Poor Levi had no clue he was being the poster child for clueless! He didn't do too much worse than Sarah with all the same questions, though.
If not, then maybe one of his hookers might spank him -- for a little extra tip.
Buzz,
I saw some excerpts and I've got to tell you, I don't think he knows any LESS than another FORMER Wasilla Mayor. Just sayin'.
Personally, I think he's doing the whole, "So simple, even a caveman can do it" approach.
Internal polling by Dems has Vitter up by only single digits. The ads are having an impact, especially with women voters. Expect this race to tighten in the coming weeks.
Steven national polling has Vitter up by 14. Expect this lead to grow in the coming weeks. This will be a shut out. Not even close. I would like a link to the site where you get your data, please?
Hope so, steve, thanks for the information.
during the oil crisis all we heard about was the integrity of the people of Louisiana. Now that matters have subsided ,the real people of louisiana show up. Their senator is a whoremonger and that is ok, the governor is two faced until he needs help.the voters show their respectability and good taste by voting for this type of garbage, until the next storm or crisis comes about and they are all goody two shoes again. Get some honesty and integrity and use common sense of good citizens not followers of good times only. Get some class and respect.
Ed, the governor is two faced? Please explain?
Railing against the stimulus and then handing out stimulus money and taking credit for getting the money. That would be 'two faced', Gary.
Gary-302710
Duh!!
Why doesn't Charlie Melancon run on his voting record? His achievements? Why resort to this if he has done well for the citizens of Louisiana? Must be why he is behind by 14 points.
Maybe the people of Louseyana want to have a scoundrel in office. It is their choice. So if scoundrel Vitter wins it will be because the people of Louisiana want him there.
Be careful who and what you vote for. Elections have consequences. (Yes, Forrest so do the erections, hee hee)
Maybe the people of Louisiana like the idea of a senator who dresses up in diapers when he has sex with prostitutes. Makes sense to me -- they think that's who represents them the best.
I thought it was a great ad. What's even more amusing are the responses on this forum of the conservative GOP teabaggers trying to defend him. If I were Charlie, I'd have photo-shopped a picture of Senator Vitter in his fetish diapers to give the voters an image of what a deviant senator really looks like to take the polls in November.
Not that it would matter, though. The lack of morals among the conservative GOP teabaggers is already well known. They'd vote for Vitter if it came out he was in league with Al Quida. Republicans have lost their compass. They are in 'win at all costs' mode. However, In November I'm voting straight Democratic because in the last 10 years, I've simply come to hate them and all that they actually stand for. America does have enemies and they're called Republicans.
Yes, they do seem to want to defend the dishonorable AT ALL COSTS, literally and figuratively. And then they wonder why DC is so corrupt? Well, duh, you aren't holding them accountable.
Gary, your postings demonstrate your own values quite well. Just like Vitter, you don't have any.
