I can hardly wait for First Lady Michelle Obama to come home. We need all our candidates to maintain our seats. US don't need "clueless" baby grizzlies and candidates in stupid looking hats and muskets taking us back to anti-colonial days. We need calm, peace and prosperity; not a bunch of actors funded by the KOCH Brothers who have committed crimes against humanity.

Russ Feingold. He could/may lose. And that would be heartbreaking. He's so different from McConnell and McCain and Lieberman.

Senator Feingold is a good decent man. He's someone this country needs.

I agree. Russ Feingold really does vote according to his constituents wishes and remains true to his democratic principles regardless. He fights for what he believes. McCain, Lieberman have lost their personal moral compass and vote revenge instead of what they really believe--they'll change their minds on whatever issue for attention or to be re-elected.

I would agree that Feingold is a good and decent man, though one with whom I would disagree with politically 90% of the time.

That being said, I don't see McCain, McConnell or Lieberman as being disqualified from the ranks of "good and decent". You just don't like their politics.

And according to the rules here most of the time, I'm just supposed to accept that Barack Obama is a "good and decent" man even though he regularly changes his mind for political reasons. Well, I do think he is a "good and decent" man, too despite disagreeing with him on almost everything.

This "Animal Farm" mentality of "Democrat good, Republican bad" is really getting annoying.

And, I would guess that those things they have "changed their minds" on were simply things you didn't agree with them on. Does that eliminate them from possibly being "good and decent" in your mind?

Great that Mrs. Obama is out campaigning. She is intellegent, speaks well and is well liked. Her endorsement would be an asset to any candidate.

After almost two years, I am coming to the conclusion that Michelle is indeed intelligent, well spoken and well liked.

More than her husband in all categories by a wide mark.

Throughout history the right seems to have issues. Consider the Mugwumps, Republicans who were not happy with what the party was doing. Of course they were a flash in the pan. Result was that Democrat Grover Cleveland became the 22 and 24 President of the United States. Then there were the Know Nothings. These were disgruntled Republicans who didn't like the mainstream Republican party and, of course they didn't last long. The Republican Party is also a result of two previous right leaning parties that failed. The Federalist and Whig Parties were far too conservative for most people and so the more liberal Republican party came into being. What will replace them? Obviously it won't be the crazy faction (see Mugwump or Know Nothing) of the Tea Party. Will the main stream, sane centrist Republicans ever regain power in their party or will it die a death comparable to the Federalists and Whigs to be replaced by a more liberal party. What will that new party be called? Maybe they could revert to Teddy Roosevelts progressive party called the Bull Moose Party.

Great post. Always good to read a little history for some perspective!

I'd have to say the "know nothing" party pretty much fits this group to a "TEA"!

How about the Bull Sh#t Party? In keeping with the spirit of Teddy and the reality of the candidates. Just sayin'

What is the difference between a "fundraiser" and Campaigning?

              Class?

If you're asking the class to see if we know. A fundraiser usually means a party function such as a dinner where the attendess pay a chunk of cash for a good seat, possibly a photo op, to hear the candidate or party speakers. Campaigning is hitting the trail to speak to a crowd for free--fired up, ready to go.

I guess the tax payers will have to pay for her to travel with her enterouge and beauty consultants.

That's an excellent definition of both activities. Based on those; Is the First Lady "campaigning" for these candidates? I would say no, she's fund raising, and they are separate activities.

Fund raising is a private closed system in a controlled environment, with only invited, moneyed guests.

It is what the last President was still able to excel at even when his approval was in the 20's. He could raise lots of dough, but he wasn't "invited" to stand next to the candidate at public functions.

With all due respect to FR and the First Lady, what is described above is NOT campaigning...

the rest of the nation cannot wait for michelle to go home either, taking a miserable excuse for a husband with her and staying home.  we are all best served when these two are on vacation or playing golf somewhere, anywhere but d.c.  and i must say beverly, your lack of patriotism is second only to michelles.  you two probably make a wonderful pair. a pair of matching dumbells.

Your lack of respect is disgusting. No one says you have to like or vote for the Obamas but the majority of Americans did and do. I am proud of them both, they are a class act.

Your comment says more about you than it does about the Obamas or Bev. Here's a good suggestion, head on down to Texas and visit "W", they'll be glad to have the company.

You are a really sick, deluded, vitriolic, Fox News Watcher in a race against the clock. Focus your bird brain on developing your mind!!

Michelle has lots of class and sophistacation, political capital, is beloved all over the world, and is not a Stedford wife like some previous First Ladies.

You have just tarnished your honor as being American. Turn off Fox Noise so can learn something instead of repeating lies and bashing the President and his whole family; hater.

Here we go again. Now the taxpayers are going to pay for his wife and her titanic security entourage to go galavanting all over the country trying to benefit a few politicians most of the country wants removed from office.

I have yet to see Obama make one minor economic consideration. Nothing is too good for himself, his family, his party or his little cronies in Congress. This really cements the case he has zero empathy for the nation that is financially hurting so bad. It is business as usual in Washington and we have to borrow with interest to foot the bill for this crap at $1.7 trillion over budget.

Ben Franklin was asked after the constitutional meeting if we had a monarchy or a republic. He replied "A republic, if you can hold it". Well back to the monarchy as every President escalates spending no matter what the state of the nation is.

I could care what party you are with, if you want to campaign then pay for it yourselves. Because some other greedy idiot did it is not even an excuse much less a reason.

Shouldn't Michelle Obama be staying home and taking care of her kids? I keep hearing that from the left wingers when they talk about Sarah Palin. Oh, I forgot, we, the tax payers are paying for some one to take care of Barack and Michelle Obama's children. And I suppose the tax payers will be saddled with the bill for all of Michelle's travels for these fund raisers. BTW I don't see any of the stops listed as campaign stops, they are all are fund raisers.

Um, I believe Grandma has been on the scene the entire time for just such purposes, since Eleanor Roosevelt, the role of the First Lady is an ACTIVE one, as it was with all of the others and so it shall be long after this one is gone.

Get a grip, for Pete's sake, you sound really petty.

Do you think they'll discuss that exemption Pelosi got for Dole Corporation on the minimum wage? Hey Beverly, hats are making a comeback, be a little more fashion forward.

I hope she brings home movies of those almost-all-expenses-paid classy vacations they take with our 11% or so percent unemployment. Sorry I'm ignorant of the current escalating number (but it's George Bushes fault remember, not the Democrats who have controlled Congress for 4 years).

I personally think it's a big mistake bringing out Michelle Obama to campaign. Of course she will support re-election of Dems so she can go on another fabulous European vacation next year while the country and Americans struggling to stay afloat due to her husband's presidential leadership. Michelle strikes me as an angry woman keeping control in public most of the time.

Well, well, seems like the magic has finally flickered out of the Annointed One. The gleam and the luster

have gone rusty. Attics are dusted out and the kitchen locked up and the family locked down. Now, the

Spanish Prima Donna is going on the campaign trail at last. The elitist from Harvard has lost his magic since

the antiquated economic advisers have flown the coop. No more vegetable gardens and Spanish holidays

in the sun. Lady Donna is coming out to prop up the bums that brought this country to its knees with its

useless economic theories, laid down by Marx and caused the death of 20 million Russians and 70 million

Chinese. She has sharpened the stiletto and is now gunning for the Tea Party juggernaut. How the

Obamas have fallen from those heady days of inauguration in Washington , when they think that

Washington belonged to the socialist class. What a difference a Spanish holiday makes. Lady Obama is

now on the prowl looking for Repubs and Teabaggers. Which dumbass adviser gave them this advice?

Robert Glib, Begala, Matthews or Ayers? Irrespective, it won't make a difference to the juggernaut

rolling over the Dems and their socialist marxist lives. A man who want to distribute the hard working

wealth of Americans are now calling his wife to do his socialist bidding after failing to fulfill his promises to

the American people. She will only echo the lies of his administration and their vaunted failures.

FOX is the number ONE news service in the nation. Unlike those on the Left. Who are mouth pieces only for socialist policies. They know nothing else. Even the Dems look for news on the Fox channel.
