Tuesday's the last big primary day of the cycle, Congress is back, Nine-year anniversary of 9/11, lots of campaigning, and a viral video rant for the ages.
Week Ahead: Last big primary day
Andy Gross is not running for Treasurer of anything. But he is fired up.

Taking Care of Business;
Many thanks to Mark – Domenico – Ali & Tyler for another superb week here @ FR! Although I'm having my doubts you guys even read our comments anymore! Now that there's a 'new' FR sheriff in town! :0(
To close out the week – I'm going to elaborate on the question Pat from Boston has asked repeatedly and that is 'Where are McConnell & Boehner's press conference to tell the American people what exactly the Republican Party is going to DO should they regain power? The silence from the righties is freaken deafening!
If there was EVER a time to go on offense it's NOW… the Democrats should be calling out the cowards of NO DAILY to make them stand up before the cameras & tell the people what their specific plans are for America other than unraveling all of the forward progress that has been achieved over the last 50 years!
We cannot allow the con artists of the Republican Party to regain control! Their ultimate goal is to wage class warfare and continue on the path of annihilation of the middle class!
See ya all over at the Dew Drop Inn…there's a drink special running this evening called the 'Liberti-tini'
It consists of equal parts of:
Hope
Optimism
Change we can believe in &
A hefty dash of Fired Up and ready to GO!
Of course it's shaken… not stirred and served straight UP!
Garnished with a little toothpick of popcorn! ;0)
Be warned though… I hear that once you try one… there's no going 'back'... only FORWARD!
I believe that the republicans want all taxes for the rich to be abolished. NO TAXES for corporations, CEO's, Politians, republicans.
Next-- the bedroom police to make sure that all relations are between male and female. ( I wonder how much that job will pay, do you think that the person will go from house to house or just hang out at the local motel?)
No health care for anyone who is not rich. If you pay taxes, you can't have health care.
All workers should expect wages to be whatever their CEO thinks they shoulod make. Maybe $0.50 a day and they should be happy that they have one. (Although I don't know who is going to buy the things that the worker makes, cause they will have no money!).
No regulations for any corporation. If the food that is shipped kills people, that is their fault. The poor corporate farmer needs to have no regulations because it will interfere with their profits. Who care is the chemical plant explodes and kills the workers and all the people in the towns surrounding the plant. Profits you know. Regulations BAD.
By the way, keep the republicans in office for eternity. They will enjoy governing a third world country. With no middle class, no need to fix roads or bridges because no one will be able to afford cars. No need for lumbar yards, cause no houses will be built, no one could afford one. No need for police, they are pretty expensive. Plus all the people living under the bridge will be too tired from slaving for their pittance so will not have time to get into trouble. Although, at $0.50 a day for wages, the salaries for the politicans will have to go down because no one will be able to pay taxes for their salary. O well, maybe they can get those CEO's to pay for them, aren't they do so already? Why should the tax payers contribute.
have a great weekend.
Red just got in (running way late this evening) and I see that a bunch of folks have taken me up on my offer and put their first Liberti-tini on my tab. Spoke with the management and for us Rough Necks with less refined tastes they are going to add a straight up double shot of “Yes WE Will” with an “Always Forward” chaser to the special list for the duration.
Hoping that everybody will take a few minutes tomorrow and remember a lot of fine folks that we lost nine years ago up in New York, down in Arlington and up in Pennsylvania. Ordinary folks that we have added to our lexicon of heroes. May their sacrifice be always remembered and honored.
Wishing a good weekend for our host’s and all my fellow poster’s. Let’s stick with it and stick together folks and we’ll be alright
Seeing as how somebody has already put a quarter in the music machine and got the drink orders out I’m just going to scoot on down here to the end of the bar and enjoy the good company of my friends and neighbors this evening. See you’ll Monday
TAxes? Only paid by the little people.
Check out the LA Times story-41 of Obama's aides owe the government just under a million dollars in back taxes.
Even that is a drop in the bucket compared to other agencies-the total, in back taxes, owed by federal employees is ONE BILLION DOLLARS.
Somehow, I think it should be a consideration for federal employment-if you have a tax issue, no job.
No soap in this White House-Tim Geitner and Hilda Solis have tax problems, so, it's fine with Obama.
Just wondering-anybody out there read the TIME magazine article on OfA? Seems the White House gave that organization $30million for this election.
Things that make you go HMMM. Where did the White House get $30million to give them? Did they shake the change out of the old sofas in the Oval Office? Did the Obamas just have that amount hanging around?
How about some intrepid journalist fill in the blanks for us? Nah. They'd have to put down the pom poms. Could even lose their secret decoder pins.
NJBO:
You are like the 'Energizer Bunny.. YOUkeep going and going... with NO ultimate destination!
Like poor dear Paul... you keep floundering about...
On another note.. I will give you a 'B' for your effot... lmao
Yes, no jo, I did read the article and, as usual, you got it wrong about the $30 million and the White House. It was actually the DNC that gave that money to the OFA. But you would have known that if you had read the companion piece here: http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2010/09/09/the-paper-tiger/
The 'dead tree' edition story, as the author calls it, did say the White House gave the money but it is misleading. Since the head of the party is the President, technically the President did give the money to OFA and since he works in the White House, that could be misconstrued as the White House giving the money.
It could easily confuse someone who doesn't do critical thinking or a little research before drawing a conclusion.
Funny. So she got it all wrong, but technically she was right. In short she wasn't wrong, she was right. Right?
Another thing, it seems she used the word "seems".
I know you have a problem with "$10" words, but .... any way the definition of seems is - appearing to be something; an impression, etc. So when you snark .....
.... is she confused, or are you? Or do you need to do some "critical thinking", need a link to a dictionary to do a "little research" on the definition of conclusion?
I realize that unless you are in complete denial, or delusional, it must be tough being a liberal these days. (By the way, thanks for the link to the story about everyone bailing on Obama For America)
Last night you finished a reply to someone else (an independent no less):
Seriously? You guys get together to privately to gossip and talk about other bloggers like 12 year old girls? It's obvious some here do it, but for a grown man to throw that out is hilarious, sad, but did I mention hilarious.
It seems it may be getting to you. You may want to take a break.
Thanks, bob. It was nice of you to get my back.
Matthew in Houston is one of the people whose posts I rarely read. It was really nice of you to take the time to set him straight.
I was working up a post that showed just how ignorant your post is, Bob, but then I decided that you have accomplished that yourself with your own words.
Gee, no jo, could it be that you ignore my posts because I consistently prove you wrong and debunk your factual misstatements?
no, matt, it's just that I don't make it a habit to demoralize twelve year olds.
The statement I made was from the ARTICLE in Time Magazine-you admitted that it was there. Gee, when I read a statement in an ARTICLE, I base my question on that.
You, sweetie, have debunked absolutely nothing.
School has started, which means we won't be seeing much of you during the daytime. I assume you were missing much of the summer because, well, there was summer school.
Maybe your mom should cut down on your computer time.
Yeah, I'd say you scored big on this one, Matthew...when NJ cannot debate, she attacks. Sort of redundant, but always amusing. But, NJ, Feisty and I are still awaiting with baited breath your discourse on the question I asked as well as the one she asked. Please, oh educated one, edify us!
Another question for the 'old wise one'... if in fact Matthew was 12...
Then why would someone as educated and above the rest of 'us' like NJNB even bother to respond?
From the sounds of things... demoralizing children brings her comfort!
Oooooo, such mean and nasty words, no jo. You really got me there. <end snark>
Way to go ignoring my post there, no jo.
This is way too easy. I almost feel guilty . . . naaahhh. ;-)
Hey, Feisty, I'll have one of those! Set 'em up, tell IR I'm on my way. My thanks to all for making this such an interesting place to come and chat! A good weekend, friend and foe!
Never forget.
That 9/11 was an inside job.......brought to you by Cheney and company.
Hey, Paul, how are you? They should never have put any restrictions on that committee that investigated.
Hello, newdayDawning. Doing well thank you. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Yes, I agree. If for no other reason than to say, why create suspicion about an event by restricting understanding of it?
If we are to "always remember", and "never forget", shouldn't we also know all that there is to know about an event which "changed everything"?
Right you are! It just creates suspicion. Gorgeous weather here, hope it is where you are. Have a good weekend.
Mark, will one of you let that idiot Ed the melon head Schlitz know that his hard on for Gibbs and Rahmbo is totally unacceptable to us libs, progressives whatever we call ourselves now, he will be out of the club if he has one more outburst. Tweedy is bad enough but this buffalo headed pundit gets a little bit out of control. And one more thing, what is Dylan rattle-cans up too, I keep hearing his phony whining crap but no solutions, he is quickly turning into a puke bag.
Andy, you are a hot ticket. You really are. You never fail to make me laugh on Fridays.
So the politician running for office here on the video who "lost it" mentally, lost the election as well? Well, perhaps it was good that he did lose. For everybody. lol
Feisty, the GOP have no responsibilities whatsoever. Their supporters do not hold them accountable to anything. President Obama has to move this country forward and he lives with these headaches every single day, with assistance from one party only. The other party doesn't work - they lift a finger for no one to earn their pay. They just sit back and send out press releases, which somebody else writes for them. And their supporters don't care. Nor do most of the media for that matter.
Clowns, each and every one of them. They couldn't answer a question honestly if their life depended on it. But then most of the media get paid big big big bucks so what do they are? They as well obviously aren't accountable to anyone.
Give me Keith and Rachel and I'm happy. And informed. I wouldn't want it any other way. I wonder why people feel the need to be lied to by Fox Propaganda and Palin and Newt and Limbaugh and Beck? Why is that, I have always wondered? Why would they waste their lives listening to people who are dumber than they are? Seems like such a waste of time. But they're satisfied that they're being told the "real truth". Unreal. Truly unreal.
"On August 28, Glenn Beck held his “restoring honor” rally. But, in Glenn Beckistan restoring honor means telling a blatant lie to tens of thousands of people. On stage, Glenn Beck held his hands out and proclaimed:
“I went to the National Archives, and I held the first inaugural address written in his own hand by George Washington.”
Beck did receive a special VIP tour of the archives, arranged by an as-yet unidentified member of Congress. During that tour, he did get a peek inside the “legislative vault,” which isn’t open to ordinary visitors. But Archives spokeswoman Susan Cooper insists that Beck didn’t lay a finger on any precious documents, much less George Washington’s inaugural address. That would be a major violation of policy. “Those kinds of treasures are only handled by specially trained archival staff”.

After what occurred on September 11th, you would think people in this country would think. That perhaps we should attempt to build bridges and to let the Muslim world know that we as a nation are not their enemy and that we respect their religion. This is what President Bush did. And this is what President Obama as a leader, is attempting to do. But of course, we have the ignorant among us - the right wingers - calling them every horrible thing you can imagine. And this helps how exactly? They have quite the microphone over @ Fox that condones this kind of talk - Australian Murdock's outfit. I see Muslims on tv very very hurt by what's going on here. They are extending their hearts and their hands to us. And this is what they're getting in return from the right wingers.
Gracious. I love that word. And to me it describes President Obama. Dignified. Concerned. Hard worker. Asking for and receiving no help from the GOP Do Nothing Congress. Yet he is gracious in both manner and tone.
Newt, Palin, Beck & Co.? Just the opposite.
Go Patriots.
Thanks for the response Pat!
You are right on the money on SOOO many levels - I asked earlier... since when did it become acceptable as an American to do NOTHING? As of now all I hear are the *crickets* and personally I'm no longer amused!
When the hell did complacency replace forward thinking and COMMON SENSE?
And gracious is the perfect word to describe OUR President Barack Hussien Obama!
Have a wonderful weekend my friend - who BTW I sent you a friend request... if you would accept your posts would stand out for me above the rif-raf!
PS: Thank you for taking a stand against our resident 'babe of bitter'... her condesending shtick is growing EVER so tiresome! ;0)
What did Carter/Americans do that deserved the take over our embassy in Iran? What did Clinton/Americans do to deserve the first WTC attack, Americans killed in Riyadh/1995, the Khobar Towers, the bombing of our embassy in Kenya, the bombing of our embassy in Tanzania, the Cole attack? What did Bush/Americans do that deserved 9/11?
Obama goes around the world apologizing for America, extending hands and bending over horizontal at every opportunity. Devotes NASA to the Muslim world and endeavors to abandon/insult Isreal. Entreaty with Iran, then appeasement and in effect capitulation. He and his administration won't even use the words Islamic and terorism in the same sentence. On and on.
Obama sends Rauf to the Muslim world to build bridges. What do we get when he comes back - the MUSLIM WORLD WILL EXPLODE IF DO NOT COMPLY with his Islamic middle finger project!
In a lower post you talk about Quran burning and awakening. The jackass Jones and his fifty followers frames America. Heck, Ron in Indiana has a flock that big here at FR.
Muslims slaughtered 3,000 innocent Americans on this day 9 years ago. Has the Muslim world extended a hand? Has Rauf condemned terrorism? Does he respect the victims? Does he respect our culture, our laws, our way of life?
If he really spoke out about terrorism, extended an honest hand and helped end terrorism, if had done anything in 9 YEARS to help America with terrorism - would not the victims of 9/11 applaud the defeat of the murders of their loved ones and gladly accepted the mosque/center? Instead, this is the worst and most painful anniversary for them.
Awake? Hardly.
"Obama sends Rauf to the Muslim world to build bridges. What do we get when he comes back - the MUSLIM WORLD WILL EXPLODE IF DO NOT COMPLY with his Islamic middle finger project!"

'Ground Zero Mosque' Imam Was A Bush-Era Partner For Mideast Peace
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/08/ground_zero_mosque_imam_bush_partner_for_peace.php
Tuesday, Reps. Peter King (R-NY) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) called Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf -- best known for his work with multicultural Cordoba Initiative to build a mosque and community center in Lower Manhattan -- a "radical" and criticized the Obama Administration for including him on a Middle East speaking tour. That tour, which includes stops in Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, is designed by the public diplomacy office to explain to Muslims abroad what it's like to be a Muslim in America. Outside of how getting constantly called a radical by American politicians busy flacking the proposed "Ground Zero mosque" for political purposes might affect Rauf's view of what it's like to be a Muslim in America, there's one other big problem with King's and Ros-Lehtinen's accusation: Rauf already represented America in this way, under the Bush Administration. State Department spokesman P. J. Crowley responded to the accusations Tuesday:"His work on tolerance and religious diversity is well-known and he brings a moderate perspective to foreign audiences on what it's like to be a practicing Muslim in the United States," State Department spokesman P. J. Crowley said Tuesday. He added that the department's public-diplomacy offices "have a long-term relationship with" Rauf - including during the past Bush administration, when the religious leader undertook a similar speaking tour. If one were to hearken back to the halcyon days of the Bush Administration, one would remember that, when Bush adviser Karen Hughes was appointed Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy, the Bush Administration saw improving America's standing among Muslims abroad as a part of its national security strategy. And, as such, Hughes set up listening tours, attended meetings and worked with interfaith groups that -- shocking, by today's Republican standards -- included actual Muslims.
One of those people was Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf.
Contemporary press accounts indicate that Rauf and Hughes were part of the February 2006 U.S.-Islamic World Forum in Doha, Qatar. He was part of a delegation that met with her in March 2006 and held a joint press conference. A letter to then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in November 2007 indicates that contacts with Hughes and Under Secretary for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns had continued apace. And, of course, an interview with Foreign Policy in 2007 explored both the depths of his ongoing contact with the Administration and his so-called radical views. I have had meetings with Karen Hughes. However, I would welcome the opportunity to have further, deeper, and more nuanced discussions with other members of the Bush administration on how they need to understand religion and how it intersects with political affairs. To not understand the role of Islam and faith as a motivator is to be incapacitated in shaping a foreign policy that achieves the objectives of the United States. The perception in the Muslim world is that the West wants to impose a secularism upon it, which to them is equivalent to the erasure of religion in society. As an American, I know that is not the intent of the United States at all. But thats the perception. The perception in America is that when people say they want an Islamic state, they want something like the Taliban. And that is not true at all.
Rauf added that, during Ramadan, it was important to remember the love that Jews, Muslims and Christians agree that their gods preach, adding, "It also means do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you." Guess that's one thing Rauf's critics forgot.

The Krauts and The Japs - Remember those terms from so long ago?
How our military hated the Germans and Japanese during WWII. But when the war was over, we helped rebuild Germany; we fed and clothed W. Berliners when Stalin blockaded Berlin. We dropped atomic bombs on Japanese cities. And who did the Japanese invite to Japan with open arms years later? Robert Oppenheimer.
Michael Moore/DKos today: "I am opposed to the building of the "mosque" two blocks from Ground Zero. I want it built on Ground Zero. Why? Because I believe in an America that protects those who are the victims of hate and prejudice. I believe in an America that says you have the right to worship whatever God you have, wherever you want to worship. And I believe in an America that says to the world that we are a loving and generous people and if a bunch of murderers steal your religion from you and use it as their excuse to kill 3,000 souls, then I want to help you get your religion back. And I want to put it at the spot where it was stolen from you."
_______________
"To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West - know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist." Barack Obama
Another term I remember during Vietnam - Make Love Not War - Of course if you disagree with this, you can always go out and buy Newt's new movie - evidently he's at war with Islam. The rest of us are not.
btw, I don't see Ron as having a flock. I see him more as having many friends. Big difference. Why don't you join us? OneNation.
Nuance is not really your strong suit, is it, Bob? You see, Bob, we were attacked by terrorists on 9/11 who were Muslim. Just because they were Muslim and terrorists does not automatically mean that all Muslims are terrorists.
If you see a dog that is brown, Bob, do you automatically think that all dogs are brown? This is the exact reasoning you are using when it comes to terrorist who are Muslim and it is fallacious logic.
Hi Pat,
This is surreal, (I never thought that I would be using a Michael Moore quote to help make my point), but that was close to the point I was trying to make when I said:
The key point, however, is that when Michael Moore and the liberals say that the terrorist have stolen Rauf's religion, those are their words - not Rauf's. When has Rauf said the terrorists have stolen his religion? Aren't Rauf's actual words more to the effect that the US was an accomplice to 9/11 by virtue of its foreign policy, that Osama was in effect made in the USA. Is this not at best, a rationalization/excuse and at worst almost an implied endorsement of terrorism?
You point out Rauf's association with the State Department as if it exculpated the issue. It doesn't. The State Department lists Hamas as a recognized terrorist organization. Rauf refuses to even acknowledge Hamas is a terrorist organization!
Rauf says he wants a more Sharia complient America? He wants our laws to comply with his religion!
And the best defense you can come up with for Rauf and all of this is him reminding Jews and Christians of the "Golden Rule"? What a stunningly ludicrous, hypocritical lie. The Golden Rule? A Jew, or Christian can not even set foot in the Saudi city of Mecca by law because Qur'an says:
.... but Rauf wants to build a $100 million Muslim monument where 2,700 Americans were murdered by Muslims and threatens that the Muslim world will explode if we do not comply! Yea Pat, that's the ol' Golden Rule.
And isn't it Rauf that created this crisis? If he is a bridge builder for faith and respect, why would he knowingly disrespect the sensitivities of the victim's loved ones? Not much of a bridge builder.
He has the right to build the rebat, or whatever. He will no doubt build it. But it is no bridge and he has awakened Americans, except for the liberal minority.
BTW -
1) Comparing Krauts and Japs to this issue is like comparing apples to Meow Mix.
2) They don't want Obama's extended hand, they one-day want Obama's power.
3) Another term I remember during Vietnam - Flower Child - Turns out they grow up to be blooming idiots.
4) OneNation? The Utopia liberal idealists believe in doesn't exist on Earth. God willing, I hope we can join one day in the real perfect place. Until then, I guess I'll stay tethered to reality and try help make it a little better place in some way. Thanks for the offer and feel free to move to the independents. And sorry if any offense was taken about the flock comment. None was intended and in all candor, I probably wouldn't come here if not for all of you guys. I've even kinda grown fond of jomama's crazy reichwing crap and the Feisal Redhead Rozelle, Il.
Thanks for your comments Pat.
Matthew,
Funny, everytime I see your name and then read your post, I think of Festus. Figure that out.
BTW- Never said Rauf was a terrorist.
Nuance? I'm OK with it. Nuisance? You got me there.
Well, let's see, Bob . . .
Festus was the slow witted deputy and Matt Dillon was the intelligent and quick minded sheriff . . .
Yep, Bob, I can see why you would think Festus.
P..S thanks FR
Yada..Yada.. Yada... Bob is so FULL of himself he's on the brink of exploding! lmao!
Just like the rest of the right wingers.... tons of hot air YET NO substance!
Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight.com has now joined Charlie Cook (The Cook Political Report), Stu Rothenberg (The Rothenberg Political Report), and Larry Sabato of the University of VA Center for Politics in forecasting a likely Republican takeover of the House.
Silver's model has Republicans gaining 45 House seats (39 needed for majority).
What ever brings you comfort Bag Boy... whatever...
We're still 50+ days out from the election..
On another note... nice to see you working overtime instead of 9 to 5 like the rest of your 'gang'!
I do have to admit to a dirty little secret and that is... all the chest beating 'cock' strutting from the right is downright comical!
LOL, Overtime!!!! Mix Bag, translation, "I see you have a job and you couldn't post until you got off of work, see we don't have jobs, but thank you for paying your taxes and support us so we can blog from 9-5." I think that's what she meant.
"On another note... nice to see you working overtime instead of 9 to 5 like the rest of your 'gang'!"
Feisty, don't fret for the dopes of nope, my krewe's are busy putting up the lemming nets when they start jumping come Nov.
This community center and Quran burning has been a terrible awakening for many of us as to just how far the right wing will go to disrupt this country. I would just like to say that I thought Keith did some truly remarkable reporting on both stories. He will back down to no one. He has been responsible and professional, to go along with his excellent sense of what is BS and what isn't. We are lucky and very fortunate to have him. Rachel as well. And Richard Wolffe always manages to bring a sane approach to every story he is asked to cover on Keith's program, as he has been doing since the 2008 election.
Thanks dear Feisty. btw, I believe someone came by today who I may have known from a prior website. If he returns I will ask him. Him and I never talked politics so I was unaware he was a Republican. We were very good "internets" friends at one time. I was using a different name. He was v. v. funny from what I remember. Today he was not. But if he comes back, I will ask him if he is who I think he is. It will be really something if it is him. I was shocked when I saw his name pop up today. lol
Community Center??? LOL AKA Moque, whatever call it what you want. Let's please Isam, never mind burning the Bible or the American Flag, that's OK-Right? Keith is an idiot, just like Beck. You know what Pat, let them built it where they want, they have that right. Let that freak in Gainsville burn the Karon, that's HIS RIGHT. You can't have it both ways. Here's a clue for you, over 75% of Afghanistan can't read or write, so how in the heck did they know what was going on in Florida burning their book?
Americans are getting soft and this so called leadership you're so blindly follow is weak. Pitty.........
Paul, hon... It's Quran... not Koran... sorry, back to your tea pity party...
Lyn, KCMO
Paul, hon... It's Quran... not Koran... sorry, back to your tea pity party...
_____________________________________________________________________
There is no universally accepted spelling for the Koran in English, although the traditional English phonetic spelling was "Koran" until around the turn of this century, and Webster's Dictionary lists the proper spelling as "Koran"
http://www.ajr.org/article.asp?id=4239
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/koran
Sorry to have to correct your "correction" honey...
While you're at it there dangerfield... can we get the universally accepted spelling of Moque & Karon that Paul was referring to?
Might as well check into pitty while you're at it...
Sorry to have to correct your 'correction' honey...
"Here's a clue for you, over 75% of Afghanistan can't read or write ... Pitty........"
Consider yourself among those who can't write.
And there's your answer......................you don't have one. LOL, you're weak!!!!
Poor... Poor... Paul...
And here I thought you had learned your lesson about drinking and blogging... seems you either suck at spelling or have a drinking problem...
We can now add 'pitty' & 'Koran' to 'aloud'... lmao
Paul-Florida, I apologize for being so flip with you. I just dislike when someone points out how uneducated some people may be, through no fault of their own. Not everyone in the world has had the opportunities we here in America have been given. I know I make many spelling errors, just as you did. However, you and I have no excuse. We have dictionaries and spell check, and we should use them more often. If we are going to tell the world that we have a great education system, then it is incumbent upon all of us to take the time to make sure we at least know how to spell correctly, instead of pointing fingers at other countries, telling everybody that they cannot read or write. Afghanistan is a very poor country. We are not. We have been very fortunate to grow up here in America.
Again, I apologize.
"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear, and the blind can see." Mark Twain
Pat,
If you're going to qoute me, use the whole sentence...........if you can't answer the question, just say so. You're soft and that's OK.....
"so how in the heck did they know what was going on in Florida burning their book?"
All you spout are insults and ignorance, Paul. You are a very sad boy.
STS
The internet..duuuuuh
This is what I find funny: Two weeks ago, Glenn Beck and Party decided to hold a massive Tea Party get together on the same day that MLK delivered his famous "I Have A Dream" speech 40 years ago. Now we have Pastor Jones who wants to burn Qurans on the ninth aniversary of 9/11, an act that is tentatively on hold because Musilms were going to build a Mosque at 51 Park BLVD in NYC.
Let me deal with Beck first.
Beck, you invoking King was so much of a sham that it tops all the hipocrisy that you have espoused in the past. MLK had more guts and courage than you will EVER have in your lifetime, because his message was, and still is, pure and full of goodness that he knew exsisted in all of God's Children, on top of that, he literally went where angels feared to tread by not just speaking in the slums and ghettos of America's Urban cities, but he also spoke and marched in Rural areas of America where he knew death was a close companion, lurking at every corner, while telling the White Americans during that time, to their faces, about the dangers of segregation that plagued the South as well as in our northern cities. If your message was truly genuine, innocent and pure as you "claimed" it to be, instead of going to the Lincoln Memorial and holding rallies in the rural parts of the country, why not go into the inner cities like Watts, Compton, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tampa, Harlem, Saint Petersburg, South East Washington, D.C, Philadelphia and the like, and deliver your message there, since you claim it's for ALL AMERICANS!!!
Now, onto Pastor Jones.
Pastor, you are the classic example of people who take parts of the Bible and use the Holy Word to fuel your own agendas, applying the parts that suit you and those that follow your teachings. Your actions are no worse than the San Headrin and the Pharisees that persecuted Christ My Lord And Savior, for He taught us to love our fellow man regardless of his differences. As MLK taught us that Black Supremacy is as dangerous as White Supremacy, I could and would never sit under a man who espouses Christian Extremism, just like a Muslim would never sit under an Imam that would teach Islamic Extremism for their Quran teaches them to love their fellow man despite and/or inspite of his differences as well. We are not at war with a religion; but at war with people who kill in the name of their religion. Burn a Quran, and you spit in the face of every Arabic American who wear the uniforms of our nations's military and who serve the public interest in our law enforcement and other public services. Burn a Quran, and you will destroy any hope that we have of a fostering peace in the Middle East. Burn a Quran, and the hard work we have done in Afghanistan so far will LITERALLY go up in smoke, pushing the Afghans back in the arms of an enemy that we have been trying to capture/kill for nine agonizing years for crashing planes into the Wold Trade Towers and the Pentagon; killing thousands of Americans.
In closing, I say that you, Pastor Jones, Glenn Beck and those on the Right, lack what MLK taught ALL Americans, and what the Bible teaches all Christians, and what we PROLIBDEMS try to practice during our daily lives: TOLERANCE!!!
OH, by the way: Bin Laden, do not think for one moment that this tiff, or any other tiffs we have had in the past, have in the present, or will have in the future amongst ourselves will deter us from our one, unifiying goal: BRINGNING YOU TO JUSTICE!!!! As always, my thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims and survivors of 9/11.
Until Next Time,
ESSAYONS!!!!!
Great post, Kevin! You said the truest thing I have heard on this subject--"we are not at war with a religion; but at war with people who kill in the name of their religion."
I truly can understand the desire to demonstrate against the terrorists behind 9/11 and its aftermath; I just can't understand why they can't seem to separate those people from the peaceful Muslims and would insult them (including as you point out their fellow citizens) by burning their holy book. How about burning a picture of Osama bin Laden if they must? What would probably really frost bin Laden would be if they held a non-denominational prayer day and celebrated diversity. Why not do that?
New York Times - A G.O.P. Leader Tightly Bound To Lobbyists -
John Boehner
WASHINGTON — House Democrats were preparing late last year for the first floor vote on the financial regulatory overhaul when Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio and other Republican leaders summoned more than 100 industry lobbyists and conservative political activists to Capitol Hill for a private strategy session.
The bill’s passage in the House already seemed inevitable. But Mr. Boehner and his deputies told the Wall Street lobbyists and trade association leaders that by teaming up, they could still perhaps block its final passage or at least water it down.
“We need you to get out there and speak up against this,” Mr. Boehner said that December afternoon, according to three people familiar with his remarks, while also warning against cutting side deals with Democrats.
That sort of alliance — they won a few skirmishes, though they lost the war on the regulatory bill — is business as usual for Mr. Boehner, the House minority leader and would-be speaker if Republicans win the House in November. He maintains especially tight ties with a circle of lobbyists and former aides representing some of the nation’s biggest businesses, including Goldman Sachs, Google, Citigroup, R. J. Reynolds, MillerCoors and UPS.
They have contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to his campaigns, provided him with rides on their corporate jets, socialized with him at luxury golf resorts and waterfront bashes and are now leading fund-raising efforts for his Boehner for Speaker campaign, which is soliciting checks of up to $37,800 each, the maximum allowed.
Some of the lobbyists readily acknowledge routinely seeking his office’s help — calling the congressman and his aides as often as several times a week — to advance their agenda in Washington. And in many cases, Mr. Boehner has helped them out.
As Democrats increasingly try to cast the Ohio congressman as the face of the Republican Party — President Obama mentioned his name eight times in a speech last week — and as Mr. Boehner becomes more visible, his ties to lobbyists, cultivated since he arrived here in 1991, are coming under attack.
The woman he hopes to replace, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, derided him on Friday as having met “countless times with special-interest lobbyists in an effort to stop tough legislation” that would regulate corporations and protect consumers. And the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, through a spokeswoman, charged that he “epitomizes the smoked-filled, backroom, special-interest deal making that turns off voters about Washington.”
Mr. Boehner won some of his first national headlines in 1996 after he was caught handing out checks from tobacco lobbyists to fellow Republicans on the House floor. Then the fourth-ranking House Republican, he said he had broken no rules and was simply assisting his lobbyist friends, who were contributing to other Republicans’ campaigns.
The tobacco industry is particularly well represented, with Mr. Gates and John Fish, a lobbyist for R. J. Reynolds, maker of Camel cigarettes, in the group. People affiliated with those companies have contributed at least $340,000 to Mr. Boehner’s political campaigns, with Mr. Gates being the top individual donor among the thousands during Mr. Boehner’s political career, according to the Center for Public Integrity.
One lobbyist in the club — after lauding each staff member in Mr. Boehner’s office that he routinely calls to ask for help — ticked off the list of recent issues for which he had sought the lawmaker’s backing: combating fee increases for the oil industry, fighting a proposed cap on debit card fees, protecting tax breaks for hedge fund executives and opposing a cap on greenhouse gas emissions. Mr. Boehner’s office said these were positions he already agreed with.
From 2000 to 2007, Mr. Boehner flew at least 45 times, often with his wife, Debbie, on corporate jets provided by companies including R. J. Reynolds. (As required, Mr. Boehner reimbursed part of the costs.)
Mr. Boehner continues to travel to golf destinations on a corporate-subsidized tab, though now it is paid for through his political action committee, the Freedom Project. In the last 18 months, it has spent at least $67,000 at the Ritz-Carlton Naples in Florida, at least $20,000 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Va., and at least $29,000 at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, federal records show, for fund-raising events.
“The wave is there, there is a rebellion in the country, and we have good candidates,” Mr. Boehner told his supporters, one of the lobbyists present at the meeting recalled. “But I don’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because we have not raised enough money. They might be able to stop us with a wall of money.”
Mr. Calio of Citigroup was among the first to write a large check. So far, a party spokesman said, the campaign has raised nearly $2 million. Mr. Boehner has helped raise millions more in the last six weeks for Republican House candidates across the country and the party, appearing at more than 40 fund-raisers.
But his lobbyist friends and former aides said these incentives did not mean too much, because they already had plenty of access to Mr. Boehner. They just now want to see him as the speaker of the House.

What about jobs Rep. Boehner? What have you done to assist the Obama Administration with jobs? Nothing. You're too busy trying to stop any and all regulations to corporations. That's always been your beat. Have you talked to your friends in the corporate world about hiring people? Your own State of Ohio is hurting. Do you care? No. You never did. Neither do your supporters.

Frank Rich and the New York Times did a hit piece on a republican---boy, am I shocked!
Now, let's wait for the 'corrections'-they will be in tiny little type on the second page. None of the five hundred or so subscribers of what was oince a great newspaper even bother to read that page, however, so it is all for naught.
Anybody remember when Obama said that he would not allow lobbyists as part of his administration? He has HOW MANY in there now?
Ah, why bother-you people still think you got him elected by sending him your paper route money, despite all the evidence to the contrary. You remember-all those Ambassadors who were major contributors? No? Do a little research, then.
Obama is in the first job he ever held where simply 'being awesome' does not equal success. He is a failure, as 47% of voters knew he would be. Somehow, you blame it on us. I realize you live in a fairy tale world, but, honestly, shouting 'I DO believe in Obama' would not have made him any less of a failure than he is today.
We begin to fix that in November.
If you will all excuse me while I interrupt dear No Jo on her 24 hour a day rant on " I hate Obama because he is a Democratic President and of a different background than I am"; seasoned with "I am the only one who can read the news and do math"; I present the following: In the New York Times, Sept. 11, 2010: A GOP Leader Tightly Bound to Lobbyists. Your assignment, No Jo, is to read it and reconcile it with the post you made above. Anyone care to guess what GOP leader they might be talking about? I'll give you a hint...he is bright orange. We now return you to our regularly scheduled "Democrats are bad, Republicans are saints" program. I think No Jo is doing satire, how about the rest of you?
LOL NDD: You have summed her up quite nicely! ;0))
Isn't it about time she starts up again with her Kobe beef ravings? lmao
I'm curious why being the self-proclaimed economist she nevers spins us a 'tale' of how we got into this mess in the first place... Not TOO obvious it goes against her Rupublican's are saints narrative... is it?
An excellent question Feisty, perhaps if NoJo isn't busy this weekend, she could tell us about that!
Big change in Gallup Polls since last week...
