Talk about political passion

As Taegan Goddard writes, this might be the craziest stump speech -- ever.

Meet Phil Davison, who was running for the GOP nomination for Stark County (OH) treasurer. Alas, Davison lost. (*** UPDATE *** The video was made "private" on YouTube, but we're now using Huffington Post's video of it.)

LOL! Me either. The sympathy embarrassment I was feeling made me turn it off. Poor guy. He was probably just nervous and the nervous energy caused him to be a bit over the top.

You should watch the whole thing. The best part is the end, when he struts off the stage, thinking "Nailed it!"

Wow, did he get his Masters degree in communication degree from Beck U? It's the opportunity for the crying game which Glenn Beck teaches so well in Phil Davidson's case. Truly, this guy is a pathetic basket case from my observation. Infestation? Maybe Phil Davidson is talking about bed bugs. Watch out for those ballot boxes.

Unfortunately, Mr Davidson Fox Noise has already nationalized your election.

Thank you FR for this excellent entertainment.

I noticed that this guy quoted Albert Einstein. I'll bet he would REALLY be screaming and crying if he knew that Einstein was a socialist (yes, a REAL socialist, not just somebody like Barack Obama, who's wrongfully called socialist by his political enemies). Davidson's scream of despair would probably shatter windows in all the surrounding counties.

Kind of like that democrat in South Carolina, the one named Greene. Good choice democrats I know all you on the left will support him. The fact that the GOP didn't pick this guy Davidson shows they are screening their nominees for the general election, can't say the same thing for democrats in South Carolina.

It's hilarious that you people try and connect this bumbling screamer to Conservatives and their values... Bash Glenn Beck because he cries and is a passionate speaker?

*Pat*Pat*Oh, good for you mister/miss liberal! And somehow this guy who's about to have blood shoot out of his eyes or snap a vocal cord went to Beck U!? LOL!

"Fox Noise" was even better. Good job confirming for me all of your blind assumptions that you're getting the truth about concervatives and people who watch Fox News are too stupid to understand and must love this idiot... There's literally no logical process to any of your attacks against Conservatives, Glenn Beck or Fox News. If you need confirmation that I'm speaking the truth, check the ratings... Look at the polls. Listen to what people outside of the cities are saying... Or Keep towing the Democratic line like sheep. Use the same mindless talking points and make connections when there are none.

The fact that anyone on the left is even trying to tie this nut to anyone who represents conservative values is opening my eyes to the idea that maybe you really are all brain-washed. Keep watching NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN and reading The Huffington Post and the New York Times. Keep thinking it's the 'crazy-God-Lovers' that identify with crazy people... You'll be getting a reality check this November... Bank on it.

afloat...it does, indeed, ring a bell. It came about when the Republicans were all so sure that GHW Bush was going to sail on to a second term and, instead, the Democrat won. Thanks for the reminder that when Repubs get cocky, Dems win.

Well Carianne it goes like this .... anytime either side is in charge and starts thinking they know whats best for us " like your parents when you were little " and stops listening to the voice of the people they get voted out , that's what America is all about . So now your party is doing their own thing and they will get voted out just like the republicans did . Soon the rep's will be in charge again and if / when they start screwing up out they go again ... But right now the dem's are so far out of touch and have had such a nice run at messing things up all you need to do is take a look around and see the damage they caused to realize forget the party title you seem to be married to and get them out . But I doubt you will because you like big government and expect everyone to pay your way though life . I've always looked at it like this dems give handouts , reps will give you a hand up ... problem is those handouts the dems give are paid for by the working class as well as the rich ... I grew up in the poorest neighbourhood in my city worked by tail off to get where I'm at and now vote rep because all my friends that vote dem are still in that neighbourhood living like they were 20 yrs ago .. where did it get them . Sometime it take a life change to make you see the difference , maybe thats what you need .

                  #14.6 - Fri Sep 10, 2010 12:01 PM EDT

sign -- as a single mother who has never taken a government handout in my life, you might want to keep your assumptions to yourself next time. The difference between dems and repubs is, dems realize that when millions of people are let go from their hard-earned jobs (where they busted their butts until your side ran the economy into the ground and caused all those jobs to disappear), they are probably going to require some help to keep themselves afloat and feed their families. Republicans can only give people a hand up if they create the jobs that people need in order to support their families. Considering it was your side who caused the loss of all of them, I think it's only fair that you give our side more than 18 months to undo the damage that your side caused over 8 years.

Your sides stimulus packages seem to be working so well .... if memory serves me right things were alot better before your side took office ... keep raising those taxes and things are bound to get better ... tax and spend thats the dem way ... great job creator ... let me ask you this if there were two cities side by side one with half the taxes than the other one , where would you live ? As for the jobs . 10 years from now it will still be the republicans fault , when will you guys ever own what youve done ..... this gets old . Ps hope you enjoy your Obama care .... thats one you can't push off on us .

I'm not being cocky- just realistic. When you've got  massive Conservative gatherings as, 9/12, 8/28, the Tea Party rallies. All polls showing the majority of America agrees w/ those "TeaBaggers" and the libs continue to act as if it's all "Bushes" fault. The point is, they're out of touch. They have no clue. Just because Chris Mathews and MSNBC says the Tea Party is racist they all nod their collective heads while getting angrier at people who they call angry hate-mongers (who are protesting peacefully without an arrest or incident)... hu? They even go so far as to fabricate a story or experience with no sources!

There's no such thing as cocky when you finally understand what the establishment is trying to sell. Some drink the cool-aid. I on the other hand made up my mind to do my own research and it didn't take long for my eyes to be opened. The US Government making the same mistakes all countries have made in the past. But this time, certain keypoints of our mistakes from the late 1800's and early 1900's were written out of the history books... why?

The alternative is of course to continue to fight along party lines, argue about religion vs society, all while Big government continues to take more and more... I'm sorry if I came across as cocky. Just wondering where some people's heads are.

Yeah, you are being cocky and I love it. It will be your downfall. Your party (GOP/Tea BAgger) has NO SOLUTIONS! NO PLAN! NO POLICY PROPOSALS! except......roll back spending to 2008 levels and pass the tax cuts for the rich. Please tell the American voter how this 'plan' will create jobs in the next 6 months? Just wait, SomeGuy. You just may have to have an actual plan of action.

C'mon, y'all. This was about a hopped up gent who really wanted to be elected. Although he mentioned his political party, it was not about divisiveness other than he being a better Treasurer than his competitor.

In truth, I felt sorry for him (although I got a crick in my neck watching his gyrations), but he brought an impassioned (?) and vociferous attempt to what we consider a very minor position.

He was a man on a mission. Lord knows we sure could use some of them now.

This shows three things:  1) The passion of Republicans for regaining a say in politics, 2) The wisdom of the Stark County GOP to not elect a man that may lead with too much emotion, and 3) The desperation of the news outlets to find SOME way to degrade the GOP, even if they have to scrounge up a video in a local primary race for an Ohio county treasurer position.

It doesn't appear to me that it requires any desperation at all to find ways to degrade the GOP. They seem to serve up a heaping pile of hypocrisy and delusion every time one of them opens their lying, party-first-and-the-hell-with-anything-else mouths.
