More midterms: More local $$ going to GOP

“Larger percentages of homestate contributions are going to Republican campaigns than to the Democrats running for those same House seats,” a CQ study finds.

FLORIDA: “Florida Democrat Freddy Balsera, who led President Obama's outreach to Hispanic voters during the 2008 campaign, is aiding Gov. Charlie Crist's independent Senate bid,” The Hill reports. “Balsera hosted a fundraiser for Crist on Monday at a steakhouse in Coral Gables, Fla. His name appeared atop an invitation sent out by the Crist campaign. According to the invite, the minimum to attend was $500 per person.”

NEW MEXICO: “Susana Martinez is challenging Gov. Bill Richardson to a duel,” the Albequerque Journal writes. “The Republican candidate for governor wants to debate Richardson, who cannot run for re-election this year due to a two-term limit, on television sometime before the November election.”

SOUTH CAROLINA: “South Carolina Democratic Senate candidate Alvin Greene was ejected from a South Carolina restaurant by police on Tuesday after his companion got into a fight with other patrons, The Associated Press reports.”

Let's see...

Today, new-home sales hit a record low...bookending the record low for existing-home sales of yesterday. Durable goods orders were much lower than the expectations of economists...

When you consider the most recent numbers on jobs and unemployment...you realize just how impressive a euphemism "Recovery Summer" really is.

"Recovery Summer"...

I guess it's on to "Recovery Fall"...

And last week they were reporting increase of existing home sales and nary a word from all mixed bag then. How is it that you guys just focus on the bad and ignore any good?

        FrankH-

The home sales numbers for the last two days are record lows...all-time record lows for as long as those records have been kept.

Retail sales, durable goods, job creation and employment...all of those metrics are now headed in the wrong direction, Frank.

        Down...not up.

Turn on one of the financial tv channels or go to a financial website if you believe I'm misrepresenting the big picture regarding current economic trends...and give THEM a hard time.

        Don't shoot the messenger.

You might even consider asking yourself WHY the message isn't better, Frank.

Two days? You want to set here and base an argument on two days of information? I showed you 3 months and you come back with that crap. I think the guys are right. You are not worth a response. See ya.

            I'll probably regret this, Frank...

But the homes sales figures released this morning and yesterday are, respectively, new-home sales for the month of July, and existing-home sales for the month of July.

They do not represent two days' worth of data.

And...both sets of figures are new all-time lows.

            So long, Frank
