Obama, a Christian, for the record (again)

NBC's Mike Viqueira, who is traveling with the president in Martha's Vineyard, reports that on the heels of polls showing a substantial number of Americans either don't know what religion President Obama is, or think -- falsely -- that he's a Muslim, the White House is out with a statement on the president's Christian faith and what it means to him.

Attributed to Jen Psaki, White House deputy communications director:

President Obama is a committed Christian, and his faith is an important part of his daily life. He prays every day, he seeks a small circle of Christian pastors to give him spiritual advice and counseling, he even receives a daily devotional that he uses each morning. The President's Christian faith is a part of who he is, but not a part of what the public or the media is focused on everyday.

The poll's findings are not surprising given the scope of the issues we are focused on-a recovering economy, bringing troops home from Iraq, putting healthcare and financial reform implementation in place. The President's strong Christian faith is what guides him through these challenges but he doesn't wear it on his sleeve.

The same nutjobs who are calling Obama a Muslim are calling him a Kenyan.

All this proves is that a significant minority of US citizens are completely INSANE.

And these are the same people who were complaining that Obama's CHRISTIAN church was too radical.

Rick, KY.....

Judging from your writing skills and logic, you are obviously a graduate of some of our wonderful public schools.

DaNoid.....

You are wrong. It is the business of the people to know everything about their president even if it is just that he has a cold. He is the most powerful man in the world and can on his own authority launch a nuclear strike capable of ending all life on this planet. It is reasonable for the American people to want to know details of her personal religion. As to his faith, that alone is between God and him. But as to his religion, the people of the US can and should reasonably question exactly which beliefs he subscribes to, without being shouted down with false claims of racism or xenophobia.

    Reply#29 - Thu Aug 19, 2010 4:25 PM EDT

Mike. "It is reasonable for the American people to want to know details of her personal religion." True. The problem is, many people in the US are NOT BEING REASONABLE as they question his religion... or worse, they are straight up calling him a Muslim. I will agree that they shouldn't be shouted down with claims of racism or xenophobia; however, I would say that claims of mental instability are definitely in order. If people are not being rational then they are be definition, insane.

It is the business of the people to know everything about their president even if it is just that he has a cold.

By your standards, the following questions have just become important:

    • What did he get on that 6th grade History exam?
    • Who did he take to his Senior Prom?
    • Did he brush his teeth last night?
    • When he puts his shoes on, does he start with the left or right?
    • Edward or Jacob?

If his religion doesn't matter to the Constitution (see Article VI and the First Amendment) then why should it matter to anyone?

Da noid. It is because those who are lying about the President of the United States of America being a Muslim despise the US Constitution and their own religion's ten commandments (that pesky one about bearing false witness trips them up every time). They have no clue what it is to be a good American or a good Christian. They are so amazingly insecure about their own inability to follow the law of the land and the teachings of Christ that they have to point their crooked fingers at others in the hope of distracting people from the dirt they roll in daily.

In their unimportant lives, it will always be someone else's fault. Notice that they would rather blame a black, democratic president for the horrible state of the nation rather than admit that the financial crisis we are in is a direct result of their born-again "God in the White House" baby-cakes Bush? They would have to completely re-examine their theological structure. Why do that when it is SO much easier to lie like a pig?

    Sad and pathetic, isn't it....

    Shocked,

You said it exactly: They are TOTALLY Unable to own up to the incompetence of those that THEY voted into office a decade ago and are TOTALLY unwilling/unable to admit their mistake or that THEIR Choices are the ones who made this mess in the first place. They have to go and blame the Black Democrat that WON by a Landslide for all of the problems that THEY caused with THEIR choices. They will cling to the tiniest excuse and scream loudly because of it. To do any less would bring THEM into question about their own intelligence, gullibility, religious doctrine and extremely poor choices!

    Thank You for stating it!!

How sad, despite numerous discussions of this, despite Pres Obama's own words in "Dreams from my Father" talking about how he became a Christian, the White House and the media must keep making comments like this. Whether it is his birth certificate or his faith, some people are just fools.

The puzzle in the 1 in 5 number is the lack of logic. The same group who think Pres Obama is Muslim are likely the same people who railed about his pastor, Rev Wright. Rev Wright was not called Imam.

As Mark Twain put it: "Let us be thankful for the fools. But for them the rest of us could not succeed."

If you don't believe that he is a Muslim, read his books. He states that if has to make a choice, that he would be Muslim. He was born Muslim and Islamic law prevents him from changing that. All the examples that I see in Pictures, he ignores most of the patriotic duties. Doesn't salute the flag, he finally put a flag on his lapel after months of campaigning, because his advisors said it looked bad that he didn't have one.

The plane he was using, didn't have a flag. Now there is a small flag. All previous planes have had a large flag. As he cancelled the National Day of Prayer, so as not to anger Islam, how many did he anger for the Day of Ramadan? Wake up and stop listening to the B#$S from his mouth. After 20 years of going to Rev. Wright's Church and saying that he was his Mentor. Then when it came time, he threw him under the bus. Seems that this was his young adult life. Is he trying to say the man had absolutely no influence in shaping him? I guess 20 years doesn't mean anything unless it furthers his career. I'l bet he didn't miss services there if he was in town. He is a Token Catholic. Former Presidents made time on Sunday to attend sevices. Why can't he? Can you belive anything that comes out of his mouth? Last week he was in the Midwest telling everyone that the economy is recovering well. Now the latest jobless figures are out and they are the highest in 9 months. Oops!!!!! He told everyone that their Health Care costs would be reduced. Most anylysts, even the ones that support him are saying that is not true. Not the first lie he told. 77% of Medicare recipients, most o fixed income, will be paying more for their Medicare to support the Medicare Plus program. Ask anyone with Medicare Plus what their insurer has told them when /if the cuts in Medicare take place? Their costs will go up to make up the difference in Medicare cuts. Remember that is most Parents and Grandparents. Before you make stupid statements here, you should check things out. By the way, who do you think will be paying for Unemployed workers insurance and all the Illegal Aliens? Everyone else!!!!!!! Wait till next year and see all the new taxes on Guns and other items. Gun control couldn't get passed, so they got in through the back door. Guns will be taxed yearly and they have to be identified or you will be breaking the law and going to jail. Will Criminals register theirs? Yeah, right!!!! Wake up America. Debt is rising so fast and high that our Grandchildren will be paying for todays debt. That is if we are still around and our country has not gone Bankrupt and forced out of existance. Do some reading and learn what's really going on in this Country. His Grandmother still says he was born in Nigeria and the location is now a historic place in Nigeria.

Nice stream of consciousness. As to the points about the topic being discussed: HE DOES NOT say that in his books. You are either a lier or you don't bother to fact check your statements.

If Obama is seeking Counsel then he must be receiving it from False Prophets for Psalm 109 states Do Not keep Silent O God of my praise! For the mouth of the deceitful Have opened against me; They have spoken against me with lying tongue. They have surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against me without cause. In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer. Thus they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love. Set a wicked man over him, and let an accuser stand at his right hand. when he is judged. let him be found guilty, and let his prayer become sin. "Let his days be few, And let another take his office." This was written To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David, it applies today, we have lost our Moral ethics and become just a me society. If Obama is a true Christian he will glady seek the word of the Bible as a Treasure and turn from his worldly ways to Jesus, repenting of his daily sins and trusting in Jesus for his salvation! Anyone who quotes from the KORAN as he has is quoting from the religions of MAN and not GOD, THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD!

I do, however, become irritated with people that abuse their scripture as a guise for their inability to think for themselves. Nowhere in the Christian scriptures does God give ANY individual the right to condemn someone else to a burning lake.

Please correct me if I am wrong and I will also remind you that in the United States, the President, you, myself, Charles and even Taxpayer are free to worship what and who we choose so long as we obey the law of the land in doing so (so no sacrificing children...and I'm OK with that).

If you can't believe the truth, read CMS Product no. 11467 direct from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Sevices. This was mailed to all recipients in May 2010. Second Para: Instead you will see new benefits and cost savings, and an increased focus on quality to ensure that you get the care you need.

On page 2 last Para: Today, Medicare pays Medicare Advantage insurance companies $1000 more per person on average than original Medicare. These additional payments are paid for in part by increased premiums by all Medicare benificiaries - including the 77% of Seniors not enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan.

Increased Premiums on page 2, but cost savings on Page 1. If that isn't doubletalk, I don't know what is!!! Sixty percent of Doctors providing care to Medicare patients say that they will drop Medicare if the cuts to Medicare are made. Then what good will Medicare be? Try to get an appointment with one that will still see Medicare patients. We have all heard about how long it takes to get an appointment with a Doctor in Canada. About a month or longer. What does that say to gravely ill patients. Hospital emergency room? That 60% work in hospitals too. Many hospitals say they will not accept Medicare either when the changes take effect. I have talked to Medical Professionals that came to my home to treat my wife. They all say the same thing. I guess you aren't old enough for Medicare and don't believe what is being said. Email groups I belong to have told me that what I said in my last post is really true and you call me insane. Have you actually read through his books or just gone to Snopes. Snopes has already been proven wrong several times. Look at Wikipedia for Snopes. It is a mom and pop operation. No others to check out if the statement is true or not. You are an idiot. Everything I stated before is true. Look at footage from Ceremonies and you will see he ignores the flag. Gee, did I lie about the National Day of Prayer and Ramadon? So why am I insane??

All that should have been addressed prior to the election. That's water under the bridge. He's in office. He is the President and if you don't like what's going on, or do, Get your body in a voting booth at every election. More people sit infront of a computer and pitch a bitch then go to the voting booths. I personaly think Obama and every other idiot in washington has not a clue how to fix America's issues and as long as the USA has a 2 party system, we are going to have party politics, and common sense goes out the window. I vote in every election, every legal American should to. If you didn't vote,Shut up! If you voted, deal with the majority rules. Back to the faith thing.....if he is a Christian, I have a hard time understanding his support for Pro Choice, killing babies that are God's creation. What do the supporting pastors say about that? Islamic law forbids change or face the consequences. If he was Catholic he wouldn't be pro-life. What faith was he when he was in Rev. Wrights church for 20 years? He was enrolled in a Catholic school as a muslim and was shooled in the Muslim religion in Indonesia. He enrolled in college as a Muslim foreign national and received aid. Has he ever paid that back? Why is it that all the documentation shows him as Muslim? He has a Nigerian Birth Certificate too. The Nigerian ambassador says he was born there too. So why have a historic site there? Maybe if they had fixed the 14th amendment regarding 'Anchor babies', we wouldn't be having this discussion at all.

The correct quote, in its proper context, is as follows:

In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

During World War II, we sent our own citizens to "Relocation Centers" (see also: Concentration Camps) simply because they were of Japanese ancestry.

President Obama, in his book, has made a statement and it is a sentiment that I share...that I will not sit idly by and see our citizens sent to new "Relocation Centers" because of their religion.

Will you stand opposed if such a measure were proposed?

You people that believe that Obammy is even close to being American are so far up his butt you'll never blow out.If you think for one minute that you can convince me and millions of other true patriotic Americans that he (or you)actually give a damn about this country and it's God fearing(not left leaning)citizens you can kiss my rear! You only care about your fags and entitlements, which will both fall in the ditch one night before the war starts.A nation divided will only fall, and you dimwitts will go down the toilet screaming it's Bush's fault!Get ready to go down hard,or go back in the closet where you should have stayed! If you think these are harsh words, take this;Life is tough. It's even tougher when you are stupid!

Ah, the ever-popular battle cry that I'm not a "real American"!

...as if that will suddenly make me come to some "Eureka" moment that I'm wrong and you're right and that I will, therefore, change my thinking.

                                  Eas in crucem.

Mr. Obama by his fruit, clearly only pays lip service to the term christian. Please pray that His eyes may be opened to the truth.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it is probably a duck. I do not know what he is but I now what he has done to this country. I know that NBC prints stupid stuff like thins in stead of the stories about the economy going down again and unemployment going up again. I know that he wasted three trillion dollars with nothing to show for it and is a disaster for small business. I know he has lied through his teeth so many times that he makes Pinocchio look like the truth fairy. I know he is with out question the worst president in history. Who really cares what religion he is? He hates Israel, and loves Muslims that much is clear. NBC the protector of Obama and traitor to truth.

In their effort to capitalize on the Mosque controversy in New york and the lies about President Obama being a Muslim, the Republican party is proving itself to be the party of Pinocchio. Their nose will soon be dragging on the ground in the mud which they are slinging. I do not believe a President has ever been treated with such hatred and obstructionism in our history. If the underlying cause is not racism, I do not knowe what it could be, ciindering that the policies he has tried to advance have also been suggested and at one time advocated by now-pandering Republicans such as John McCain, Boner and Mcconnel. His health plan was patterned in part on that of Mit Romney. Who could ask for more? The devilution of American politics is leading us to the brink of disaster and Depression.

I would like to see what the numbers would be today. Run the poll again! With all of this making news and the stuff going on in New York, it would be interesting! Why is this so big when jobless rate just went up again?

Yep, the poll results confirm my research and experiences. There are many willfully ignorant (also known as stupid) people in our country.
