Has anyone seen the remarks of MSNBC's new Senior Political Analyst, Mark Halperin, at Time's website?
MSNBC's Mark Halperin on President Obama stating today in Ohio that he has "no regrets" regarding his remarks about the proposed mosque in NYC near the site of the 9/11 attacks:
"Really??!! Another presidential comment made on this sensitive matter on the fly in response to a press question? The political and substantive damage will continue until Obama explains his position in detail and (in a dignified and uplifting way) explains why his critics are wrong. This is a classic case of a politician losing control of his public image on a key issue-only in this instance, it has implications for the whole world."
Wow...I sure hope Halperin's on "Countdown" tonight.

Olbermann doesn't do those kinds of interviews, no, and that's sad, and partly why I don't watch him much anymore.
Maddow on the other hand - she would chew Halperin up and spit him out and he wouldn't know what hit him. And she'd do it with a smile and nary an unkind word towards him too.

Yesterday President Bush was asked about his thoughts on the issue and he said “no comment”. So no former or current President will give a thumbs up or down. I wonder why that is? Could it be because it is a constitutional issue and all Presidents took an oath to protect and defend the constitution?

The basic elements of a mosque are a place large enough for the congregation to assemble, especially on Friday, the Muslim sabbath, and orientation so that the faithful may pray facing in the direction of the holy city of Mecca. The wall facing Mecca is called the qiblawall and is marked by a mihrab, which usually takes the form of a decorated niche. In later ages mihrabsbecame quite elaborate; they are decorated with wooden fretwork in Morocco, with carved and pierced marble in Syria and Iraq, and with lusterware tiles bearing quotations from the Qur'an in Iran.
A mosque usually includes a number of distinctive elements: a mimbar (or minbar), a pulpit that is entered by a flight of steps and stands next to the mihrab; a maqsura,an enclosed space around the mihrab, generally set apart by trellis screens, in which the caliph, sultan, or governor prays; a minaret, a tower, usually built at one or more corners of the mosque, from which the call to prayer is sounded; a sahn, a courtyard, surrounded by riwaqs,colonnaded or arcaded porticoes with wells or fountains for the necessary ablutions before prayer; and space for a madrasa, a school that often includes libraries and living quarters for teachers and pupils.
All the great mosques are resplendent with elaborate decorations, but the prohibition against imitating God's works by creating living forms is always obeyed. Decorations are abstract, and geometric plant forms are so distant from their originals as to be unrecognizable.
Mosques are not allowed to have Basketball courts, Culinary centers and Workout facilities. This is a Muslim version of a YMCA yes it has a prayer space but it is not a formal Mosque. Not to mention the fact that if you look at the location on Google earth you will see it is down two blocks and around the corner for the far corner of the towers property and is more like seven blocks from where the towers stood. It can't even be seen from the 911 site.
I wish the MSM would stop calling a Mosque as well Chuck you and the rest of the 5th estate are supposed to be about truth and facts and on this issue you are failing, the press and media outlets who listened to Pam Geller "who was ground zero for this non story" should be FIRED!!! CA, my point was, You are a Reasonable Person, whom many on here read in this Sea of Insanity. You don't push your military record, as a reason to read what you havta say about the problems faceing America. You bring sound advice & problem solving, along with a touch of wit(which a lot think they have, but don't).
I live in a Sea of Redness(heck i'm Married to a Republican) & when someone comes to my home & dares to talk politics, I know i'm faceing an uphill battle, just because of where I choose to live. It does'nt deter me tho & I welcome the battle.
One thing I'll try Not to do(it's hard) is to Lump 1 person's beliefs with a Whole State, such as the Ones, You & I chose to live in.
For those of you who may missed this Fact, KY voter's like thier State Government to be run by Democrats, but for some reason, want to be represented on a Federal level by Republican's. Jack Conway, definitly has a chance to Win here, but i would'nt bet a penny on that victory, He'll havta earn it from the Voter's of Kentucky.

Oh my, well thanks Rick, KY. Appreciate the kind words. But alas I am just another with an opinion. Sometimes those opinions prove to be right and sometimes wrong. But I have been around this country and the world enough to know that people are generally the same all over. No matter the location I could find a few enemies and I could find close friends. And in all those travels the one behavior I observed that I like the least no matter where it was observed was intolerance and cruelty towards others. What this world needs and what this country needs is not necessarily total agreement on everything secular or political but a bit more spirituality, a bit more caring, and a little less self-serving one-up-man-ship.
I would just like to remind everyone that Sarah Palin will not run for president.
I do understand, however, the mentality that finds a little fun in imagining what you would do if you won the lottery.
Well Alabama is sort of that way. We vote one party in for gov and the opposite for Lt. Gov (who presides over a do nothing legislature) And we wonder while nothing is accomplished except to spend money on "special sessions".

The prediction is that Paylin will end up being a sort of tent revival evangelical speaker. Those are the only people that will stay and continue to pay until the Bitter Quitter's bitter end. She'll pass the collection plate, discuss God's plans, get some shopping in and then fly on to the next tentfull of deluded worshippers.
In a way, that's already happening. She'll run for Prez because it will forever after allow her to be announced as "The only Conservative Mama Grizzly that ever ran for President!" which will prop up the odd fact that a few media personalities still refer to her as "Governor" to please her. The new "accolade" will be worth another book deal, a last windfall of political donations, a few TV appearances and so on. But no matter what happens to her, it will generally always be Obama's fault.
