Paul: 'I absolutely deny kidnapping anyone ever'

AP

Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul says that a recent GQ story alleging that he kidnapped a female friend while a student at Baylor University and attempted to force her to take bong hits is "absolutely not true"

Appearing on FOX News' Your World with Neil Cavuto, Paul said that the story, which quotes his accuser anonymously, is "outrageous and ridiculous" and that the magazine deserves to be sued for printing it.

Paul dismissed a question about whether the incident was a prank that has been mischaracterized, saying, "I'm not really going to try to go back 27 years to remember everything I did in college."

But, he told the FOX News host, "I think I would remember kidnapping someone."

"I absolutely deny kidnapping anyone ever," he said.

Here's the key excerpt from the story:

The strangest episode of Paul's time at Baylor occurred one afternoon in 1983 (although memories about all of these events are understandably a bit hazy, so the date might be slightly off), when he and a NoZe brother paid a visit to a female student who was one of Paul's teammates on the Baylor swim team. According to this woman, who requested anonymity because of her current job as a clinical psychologist, "He and Randy came to my house, they knocked on my door, and then they blindfolded me, tied me up, and put me in their car. They took me to their apartment and tried to force me to take bong hits. They'd been smoking pot." After the woman refused to smoke with them, Paul and his friend put her back in their car and drove to the countryside outside of Waco, where they stopped near a creek. "They told me their god was 'Aqua Buddha' and that I needed to bow down and worship him," the woman recalls. "They blindfolded me and made me bow down to 'Aqua Buddha' in the creek. I had to say, 'I worship you Aqua Buddha, I worship you."

I just hope the WHOLE STORY COMES OUT! He can't remember a "wild night smoking pot" probably because he did it so many times. It always happens this way, a person does all sorts of debauchery and then ' SEE'S THE LIGHT" AND BECOMES THE TOTAL OPPOSITE. They think they "are saved" from their past because "they have changed to serve GOD". They are only serving themselves with their stupidity, I'm sure all those people back then remember him and laugh at him behind his back. THEY KNOW WHAT A FRAUD HE IS AND THEY ALWAYS WILL.

Has anyone seen his birth certificate? Or his kindergarten transcripts? Is he a citizen? Is he a Muslim? Can he prove he is a citizen and not a Muslim? Is he related to Obama? I bet he is an illegal alien! Has anyone seen his green card? Or are these questions only for Democrats?

Not a big Rand Paul fan, but really is this a big deal? The 'kidnapping' sounds like the kind of stuff that went on a lot in college. Got stoned a great deal in college, but always found it better when in the company of a hot stoner chick.

If anything, this would give me more reasons to vote for the guy, doesn't make him seem as douchy.

Really tho, anyone on this board changing their vote based upon this? Really?

Getting stoned in college is one of those 'elitist' things. 'Real Americans' do crystal meth.

I don't know why this ding-dong-bonger is even still in the running at all. He should have bowed out after his "segregation is a good thing" comments. He's weird as well as a racist. Only in some circles, I guess it's OK to be a racist but not OK to be a weird bong-smoker as well.......

You think that because you want to think that. But that isn't thinking. That is prejudice and self delusion. It is obvious that you disregard facts when they don't fit your fantasies.

Odd name coming from a teabagger. I didn't picture logic and teabagger together. But besides the point, lets get the hyprocisy out of the way first. You damn Clinton & Obama to Hell for their drug use, but the Lil Shrub and his cocaine use, alcoholism, and plain stupity and Rand Paul's alleged bong hits and kidnapping charges are ok? Are you sure you're not doing the bong hits and this is some alternate reality where only if your a Dems, fast track to Hell and Repubs get rehab and second chances?

Another Lib Hatchet Job. Election day can't come fast enough. Any time you "journalists" are ready to close up shop, well, feel fre to do that as well. What a joke story. Even the MSNBC morning crew wasn't buying this nonsense as they ripped the story to shreds as baseless, without any proof whatsoever, not even a report on the so-called event 20 years ago.

Even if true, this seems more like a college hi-jinks than anything serious, except, of course, for the dope. It is part of the Libertarian credo that an individual should be able to smoke dope without the government arresting him. That's OK with me, but I have a hard time believing all those fundamentalists Christians who constitute a big portion of the extreme right wing that he is appealing to will be happy with this particular tenet. How about it, all you right wing Obama haters. Will your hatred of Obama trump Rand's peculiar belief about dope?

No, I was there. It really did happen that way, like she said, except she did do the bong and went to sit in the corner. The rest was a trip she took. Aqua Buddha, that's what we called the bong. I did the bong and it cured me from being a Idiot and supporting Bush. I don't know what that makes me but you're going to have to do better than this because I'm drafting Senator Paul for president in 2012. We're legallizing pot nationwide and letting people do their own thing. The only thing worse than an anal democrat is an anal republican.

Hey tea boogers, if this had been a Democrat running for office, would you be acting the same way as you are now? How about when Clinton was asked about his drug use? Is your motto such that only Democrats can be asked and condemned for using drugs? Is this where you want to take this country back to? Do you agree that if a Democrat can be ragged on for alleged drug use, then another parties candidate should also be treated the same? Why no out cry from the Cons about this mans alleged drug use?

No, I don't care what Ron Paul did 27 years ago. I don't care that Clinton never inhaled. I don't care that George partied at college. I don't care if President Obama did coke at one time. I don't care if V.P. Gore got creepy with a masseuse (especially that...since that's most certainly not a vision I want in my head).

Slow news day? Is MSNBC reaching for something negative to report? With everything wrong with the country, is this really important? Really.

If I lived in Ky, I would vote for him just so the Republican Fasicist's would have some company in DC! Well then again, I guess I wouldn't because then you folks would be in power and the world would end, or something!

Her excuse for not giving her name when making such a serious accusation is that she's a clinical psychologist? Maybe she's not qualified. A clinical psychologist, of all people, should recognize how unfair and unethical to throw this out while hiding behind anonymity. I hope and pray Paul loses his election, but this is really low. And if you can't say her name and have no corroborating witness, then why are you publishing it? Disgusting.

Exactly. There's no credibility to a story that uses quotes and recaps of events by anonymous sources. I once counted 27 times a single Newsweek story wrote "said on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue......"

How scary is it that people can say anything anonymously and ruin other people's lives ...and the media runs with it. Very scary. Very sad.

Limbaugh never uses anonymous quotes. He far prefers that everyone knows the idiot he is pillaging at a given time.

And Candice clearly attributed Newsweek, so the whole segue into Fox was really stupid and cheap on your part.

Irrelevant, too, except as far as it goes in exposing your ignorance.
